This is a great book full of contacts and resources where you can get exposure for your band. The majority of the book is a convenient collection of contact info such as email addresses, postal addresses, phone numbers and websites. There's also a helpful "how to" tips section. I recommend buying this item.

If you are a independent musician, you can't afford NOT to have this book. This book is incomparable. I have made so many contacts and have been introduced to so many new services and and products. I am currently using to services to help aid in the distribution of my music that I found in the Indie Bible. The money I saved in one month, paid for the Indie Bible. Then you have the contacts. UNBELIEVABLE!!! These contacts are so complete and organized that is hard to imagine how the author did it. It has every radio station that will play your music, plus every written and online publication that will review your music. I will never let an edition slip by me.

Great for mysified Mac users

As someone with a background in the comparatively 'easier' (and more stable) Mac world, I found this book, more than any other Windows 98 guidebooks, to be the most useful in terms of explaining why my Wintel product was failing. The book is exceptionally well-designed. Not only is the materially organized in a useful fashion, the page-layout makes things easy to read. The author's writing style is crisp and engaging, and that which he is trying to teach is genuinely useful. Indeed, _Using the Windows 98 Registry_ is so straightforward in its approach, I felt like I was reading a tech manual for a Macintosh product. I would second another reviewers' comments, though, that future editions could benefit from the inclusion of case studies.

A serious book about Win98 Registry

Review Date: 1999-12-08
I purchased the book to understand how Windows 98 registry really works. I had sometimes to correct corrupt registry entries arising from my heavy user actions and this may be very scary.

Hunneycutt's book was the right choice. This is a book written by an expert with high pedagogic skills. I found not only the whys of registry but a number of tips that helped resolving my issues. Reading this book felt me more in control of the machine.

Also useful are some of the freeware and shareware described in the book, like regmon. To be frank, however, I didn't find much use for the featured software that come with the book's CD.

The book offered a lot more than my immediate needs requested. For instance, as a programmer I found it may be a powerful reference tool for those needing to write code accessing the registry.

As a hint for the next edition I suggest increasing anedotical contents for troubleshooting application entries and other heavy user issues.

Excellent choice for mastering the Win98 Registry!

This book has tons of useful information and goes into detail in the areas where you need it to. Lots of good desktop edits, good CD, and very easy to read & follow.

Good book, but not enough focus on practicality.

This book is excellent for understanding the "theory" of the Win 98 registry, but I have not found it very useful for guidance in the practical aspects of actually tweaking registry settings. It usually contains enough information about a particular registry section to know if it is not worth editing, but it often does not give enough coverage to important keys. It would definitely benefit a lot from input by a person who commonly solves problems using the registry. That said, I have sometimes found it helpful when trying to find which key contains a given piece of info that I am interested in tweaking.

The one registry book that you must absolutely have!

This book is one of the best written registry books that I have read. It explains all the hard to find details that most other books barely touch on. It's the only registry book that I recommend!

The Registry's forms serve as an excellent guide

The Family Registry is the most useful tool for gathering and maintaining household information. I keep everything - manuals, warranties, receipts, landscape drawings, system diagrams, everything - in mine. The Registry's forms serve as an excellent guide for cataloging all my home and garden inventory, especially those "unseen" items that one never thinks about until there is an immediate, unusual sudden need. All these bits of information are available to me in one convenient notebook system, and the packaging is so attractive that I keep mine in the living room bookcase. - Lynn Webber - retired RN / Master Gardener / housewife

I cherish household items that are both practical and beautiful. That is why I purchased Family Registry for my home library. Everything I need to know about my home and it's assets are catalogued within the pages of this beautiful and comprehensive resource.

I valued my Family Registry so much, I purchase 4 more sets for my family as Christmas gifts last year and everyone loved their Family Registry as much as me. Family Registry is the perfect home companion - no home should be without one!

"My daughter recently got married and I tried to find something unique and different to give to her and her future husband that also would be a practical gift, not like a toaster. A friend told me about the Family Registry. When I looked at it I new that this would be a perfect gift for them, because my son-in-law is an engineer and he loves everything to fit into a neat place. We always make fun all of his list and charts. They were both excited about the gift, especially my son-in-law. He felt like we appreciated his organizational skills and were helping them start their life together with everything in place. Thank you." Mrs. A. Jones, Psychologist, Michigan

"During my 30 years in the Home Inspection business, I have never seen such a comprehensive, all inclusive product for homeowners as Family Registry. I am truly impressed with all the work and dedication that went into creating this product. In today's world it is essential to document our assets and in my opinion every home owner should own a Family Registry." Patrick L. I wholeheartedly recommend Family Registry. Last summer my mom died after a sudden illness, and we were all so grateful that she had left us a precise written record of her assets, what to give to whom, her funeral arrangements, and other details. That by itself was a great gift to all of us! I decided to do the same for my family. But since I am disorganized, with records and files all over the place, I urgently needed the kind of structure I found in Family Registry. working wiht this system was painless--in fact, ti was actually fun! Best of all, I now have a comprehensive record of everything I own and what i want to do with my possessions, all in one place. And it's not just for the future--this record comes in handy right now for lots of things, including taxes. I recently gave my daughter a Family Registry Asset Preservation System of ehr own as a wedding gift, and made sure my elderly relatives have theirs too.

I hope everyone who is not as super-organized as my mom will not wait till the last minute to get their affairs in order--when it might even be too late--and will use this wonderful and unique system. I've never seen anything like it--and I have looked! I also want to express my appreciation to the authors for the thought and caring they put into the creaton of this program and materials. If I could give them more than 5 stars I would! Every family should have the Family Registry!

Your Chance to Slap Windows Back

Despite Microsoft's claims that their vaunted "focus groups" and client experience consultants have allowed them to offer us painless computing, you and the rest of the world know it isn't true. Waiting for Windows XP or Vista to boot up and shut down certainly are irritations in themselves worth a hack or two.

As you can imagine, this is a large book. That is not just the number of pages (650) but also the format -- of the fold-flat variety. This big book of hacks is easy to work with physically.

The editorial review on this page describes the contents well except that I would alter "contains more than 100 hacks" to "contains almost 200 hacks." Quite a difference.

The writing is clear and informed. I'm sure you have read many of Gralla's magazine contributions over the years. Be sure that the book is not all text. There are plenty of illustrations and even photos (for the hardware hacks) to guide you. The hacks themselves are directed at all versions of Windows, with the focus on XP and Vista.

Consider this book a compendium of all those tips you always rip out of your computer magazine subscriptions to save -- then lose track of. Here they are, all in one place, not easily lost given the size of this book!

This book is an excellent hands on guide to understanding what a registry is and how it can effect your computing life. It is written in a basic manner so as not to lose anyone, no matter what their computing background. The glossary gives excellent definitions to the questions that that most people will have. The tools on the CD-Rom that accompanies the book are helpful. With the included tools and this new found knowledge about my registry, I have been able to slim up my registry and speed up my computer like never before. One fact that I did not know before reading this book is that a regular backup of your system does not backup your registry so...if your system crashes you have to start all over again to build your registry, BUT...there is hope and it is in this book. It give detailed instructions on how to backup your registry (several options). I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn more about Windows 95 Registry and how to save yourself from it.

The layout of the book is very helpful. The chapter's are full of information and at the end ask a few questions. Gives great explanations instead of just a book full of questions. This book went over information that was very helpful and that I had not covered during my radiology classes. After taking the pre-Rad exams, I was glad I had read the book.

An easy, yet meaningful family Advent activity
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 2001-12-04
My family has been using this book for the past five years and we have found it to be a wonderful family devotional for the Advent season. At first, the kids were just interested in coloring the daily 'leaf' and gluing it onto the paper 'tree'; now the older kids are interested in the readings and actually take part in the discussions while the youngest ones get out the crayons and glue. We have considered giving it up, since it does require purchasing a new book each year (the content does not change with each year, but the pages are colored and cut to make the tree). Our kids would not even consider it! This has become a very enjoyable Advent tradition for our whole family. I have usually had to 'special order' this book, so I would consider purchasing a few books at a time so as not to be caught unprepared when Advent arrives. The book also makes a nice gift.

The Jesse Tree has been an Advent tradition in my family since I was a little girl. I am 26 years old now, and I have still tried to do it on my own every year. It was always something to look forward to, and my mother always saved the leaves I colored. What we did was to pull out the tree itself and have it laminated. Then, we made photocopies of the leaves and we were able to reuse everything for many years. I finally bought another copy when I moved out on my own so that I can start my own family's tradition. There are prayers for each day and I think it's a great way to share the Bible stories with children. You will not be sorry for buying this, especially for the price!
