The author has researched his subject well, capturing the era of the 1920s as few other writers have. Accurate and brutally honest. My only criticism is that I wish the author would have cut loose with his considerable writing talent. The style is fairly close to the vest but highly readable. Having read hundreds of baseball books, this stands as a classic.

This is a great book for anyone who likes baseball. It tell all about Barry Bonds one of the greates baseball players of all time. trust me i am one of his biggest fans and this is a good book about his life.

nobody is touching Barry Bonds and the Greatness of his Baseball Genius. this Book explores his great 2001 season and also touches on his hard work deidication and all around greatness as a player. who cares if endorsers pass on him or so called journalist don't like him..etc.. what he does on the field is all the talking and understanding we need. nobody has ever played the game better than him ever. i've always been a fan and always will be. He is the Baddest Cat to ever play Major League Baseball. 5 tool and beyond one of a kind SuperStar.

the 2003 edition got me started. the 2004 edition has sold me on this book being a yearly purchase from now until i'm blind.

this is a complete reference source. 463 pages of baseball bliss. commentary. subjective lists. team recaps. and more statistics than you can shake an aluminum bat at. full major league stats as well as minor league stats. stats for every player from every team. heaven.

i could gush.gush.gush, but it's really a waste of everyone's time. this is an outstanding book. you get raw stats but also enough quality writing that you will hang onto the book. in terms of value, i sincerely don't think there is another baseball book out there where you get so much for such a reasonable cost.

It has about 15 chapters, and each chapter is a fascinating article on one of the true legends of baseball: Ruth, Mantle, Cobb, Jackie Robinson, Satchel Paige, etc. You'll learn that the reason for Gehrig's streak was that he, one of the best players of all-time, feared that if he sat out one game, he would be replaced. Or the conditions behind Jackie Robinson's being allowed into MLB. Di Maggio's streak; the shot heard round the world; how Dizzy Dean's career was cut short.
