The biggest obstacle to a clear psychic reading is when your reader's ego gets in the way. Peirce provides a wonderful way of accessing intuition and trusting your higher self in day-to-day life. People often see a psychic to solve a problem. That is a big mistake. Consulting a psychic is about accessing objective data to help you make a more informed, wiser decision with your eyes wide open. Peirce provides a journey in this book how to be your best seer, open your own third eye, and not get too impressed with yourself.

An excellent guide to finding your inner wisdom.

Ms. Peirce has written a thoughtful and well-organized guide to developing our relationship with the intuitive mind. Her premise is that each person has an intuitive faculty, which is our birthright as human beings. However, some people are more in touch with this faculty than others. Thus her strategy is to show us what blocks intuition, then how to work to unblock it. The exercises she provides to help us do this take up a large part of the book. In that sense, it is more of a workbook than just a book to read.

Part 1, entitled "Creating a Clear Lens," walks the reader through a series of exercises to clean out habits of thought, fears, and unhelpful beliefs which most of us carry around until we do our interior housekeeping. Many exercises resemble the work that so many people do in therapy, that is, uncovering painful issues from the past and clearing them out. This clearing opens up the channel from the "Big Mind," that is, the intuitive mind, so that we can receive guidance.

In Part 2, "Accessing Subtle Information," the focus turns to specific exercises for developing more sensitive perception and awareness. You will find here an emphasis on using your body awareness to tap into your intuitive mind. This makes perfect sense, as being grounded in the physical realm gives us a stable base from which to extend outward into the unknown.

Finally, in Part 3, "Making Intuition Useful," Ms. Peirce leads us through exercises on applying intuition to everyday life. She includes very good information on dream work, working with the creative process, self-healing, and accessing super-conscious guidance, among other topics.

This is really a lovely book. It is down-to-earth and practical, but also leads the reader gently into the spiritual realm. Ms. Peirce does not promote using ESP or telepathy in order to control the future, manipulate others, or otherwise get one's way in life. Rather, she encourages us to open up to a higher consciousness, and live our lives by creating in tandem with this consciousness. Through this work we become more at peace, more loving, more creative, and just plain happier.

Being a Rajput whose father is from the Jaipur dynasty, I was very impressed with this book. Like the latest book (please refer to "Maharaj's Jewels"), I found this book very ornate with beautiful pictures and rich historical details. The book is full of facts and intersting tidbits a reader will find facinating. Like all table top books, this one will add integrity to one's collection...

Excellent reading. Dr. Silliman brilliantly brings to light the world of four generations of women in her family. Not only has she presented excellent, affectionate, and enlightening portraits of these unique individuals, she gently teaches us about history, culture, and anthropology. The tales of these women reach from Calcutta through trade routes in Asia, Israel, London, and Jerusalem--ending up in Iowa. Best of all, these stories present the times and places through WOMEN's lives--these are stories that we do not hear in mainstream texts.

Silliman captures the essence of a forgotten group. She has taken a topic barely touched on and attempted to educate the world about it. In my opinion, she has succeeded, this would be one of the best books I have ever read. Buy it today!

Jael Silliman has written an excellent, scholarly book on the Jewish community in India. . Her descriptions of her family elders show her love and respect for them and yet she is sensitive and kind and most of all truthful and honest. As a member of the Baghdadi Jewish community she does not put down the other Jewish Communities in India to prove her community's superiority, as several Baghdadi writers have done. Instead, her excellent book builds bridges among these Indian Communities. Ms. Silliman has done her research and her writing style is a pleasure to read.I recommend this book wholeheartedly.

It is absolutely true that no one but Hector Bolitho has beautifully written the biography of one of the greatest leader of the twentieth century. Infact, Mr. Bolitho painted the pictures for the readers with his amazing words. I could never learn more about Quid-i-Azam without his book...

Thank you Mr. Bolitho for your great work.

Mr Bolitho has written this biography a thousand time better than any Pakistani writer. We were taught about Quaed e Azam in the schools but no other book taught me more about the man whom I think was the greatest man ever walked on this earth....I love him...!

Written in a lucid and entertaining language, it gives us an indepth look on Mr Jinnah, the young secular Minded Lawyer and his conversion forced by the actions of Hindu Majority to the spokesman of the two Nation theory..

It does well to compare Mr Jinnah to his contemporary Ataturk of Turkey, and puts in to Perspective Mr Jinnah's achievement, namely Pakistan.

If you like adventures and travel, you'll find plenty in this real-life story of 'strangers in paradise' -- an American family encountering a different world. The author shows you India vividly through her eyes, as she and her family explored the country, struggled with the problems, and ultimately were captivated by the land, the mystique and the people. She writes candidly about her experiences, both serious and humorous. A great way to get an inside look at some intriguing cultures and places.

Author Mary Stickney has a real winner here. A former wife of an American diplomat assigned to a remote province in India in the politically turbulent 60s, Stickney successfully takes the reader on an exotic, sometimes perilous journey. Opening with the arrival of her young family in India, the author's primary literary device is offering readers excerpts from personal journals. This makes her writing as fresh and inviting as the time they were first written three decades ago. The book is personal and unassuming, easy to read, and a genuine page-turner.

Highly recommended for those wanting to revisit India, as well as for first-time visitors to this fascinating, often physically challenging land. The writing encompasses history, overlapping religions and languages comprising the fabric of the country, and the complex social systems and customs of the land and its people. At the same time, JUNGLE PATHS deals with personal encounters and offers objective observations and fair criticisms throughout the course of the book. The continuing chasm between wealth and abject poverty in many parts of India is especially well-presented here.

I very much enjoyed reading this book.

I thoroughly enjoyed the book. I could not describe it any better than critics did. This is a book set in pre-independence India with its harmful traditions - that may still be there - as one young girl with support of her family leads the way for a change. This will make a nice reading for any young reader who wishes to be carried away in this colorful story mixing history, struggle and enlightenment.

As a member of the Brahman caste, the highest, twelve-year-old Leela doesn't notice the hardships of lower castes.Engaged at two and married at nine, Leela is soon to have her "anu," when she will move into the home of her husband. In the interim, she enjoys the life of a loved, petted member of her household which consists of her parents, her aunt and uncle, her older brother (away at school,)and Lakha, the man who takes care of their animals. Before the much anticipated anu, her husband is bitten by a venomous snake and dies. As a widow, Leela must have her head shaved, wear dull brown saris, and spend an entire year "keeping corner." She can't leave the house for an entire year. Only gradually does formerly light-hearted Leela come to understand the magnitude of the calamity that has befallen her.

Set in India during the time that Gandhi is leading non-violent protests against the caste system and the British colonists, Leela's story exposes enormous gender inequalities as well. This novel follows Leela's inner growth during the year. She is tutored by her former principal, and she begins to read newspapers voraciously, equating the injustices suffered by Indians under British colonial rule with the injustices inflicted on her. Coming to appreciate education as her only hope, Leela endures the year of keeping corner, studying, until she ultimately triumphs. With first-rate prose, this work of fiction, based on the life of the author's great-aunt, is exciting and compelling within unusual confines.

The author's distinct style was a pleasure to read, especially as it is one of the very few romance books set in India. She has been able to capture the essence of modern India in the way each character behaves with respect to their age, gender and upbringing. The story is narrated from the standpoint of each character, alternating mainly between Aditya and Rhea, with a flow that is racy and easy.

Krishnamurti, although interesting and intriguing, is not known for his entertainment value. He was as austere and uncompromising as he was fascinating. This book is entertaining, and interesting, and intriguing, and fascinating. It is my educated guess that Krishnamurti's teachings will become more well known in the years to come. Much more well known. This book is an excellent introduction to his teaching as well as a supplement to his actual wealth of books. What other book offers an invitation to what it means to being really aware and seeing truth, and also shares anecdotes of the like of which Krishnamuti is on a picnic with Charlie Chaplin, Paulette Goddard, and Aldous Huxley, to name a few. This book is a wonderful gem, full of insight. Absolutely enlightening.

I first came across this book in a library and borrowed it, and the impression I got, sustained for 3 years to make me actually buy it. As Krishnaji would say, the only way of understanding and discovering your self is through the mirror of relationship, what better way of understanding Krishnaji than through the way he interacted with people from different parts of the world and with different perspectives? That said, Krishnaji still remains a mystery as he rightly should, but nevertheless a delightful mystery.....

A Spell-Binding Biography of a Most Remarkable Man

This story of Krishanurti's life is the most fascinating and complete biography I have ever read. It certainly helps that the book begins with intriguing accounts of Krishnamurti's unusual childhood, in which he was "found" by the Theosophical Society. ... "Leadbetter suddenly noticed one of the boys, outwardly a rather skinny looking little boy with a shaved front to his head and a pigtail. He was about thirteen (actually fourteen but appeared much younger), and had a little brother with him. He saw that around this boy was an aura of such brightness and glory as he said no one else in Adyar had, and that was so outstanding to him that he at once made friends with the two brothers."

Thus begins a most unusual relationship between the very young Krishnamurti and the Theosophical Society (Annie Besant was appointed guardian of Krishnamurti and his beloved younger brother one year later, in 1910. There were many advantages and disadvantages to the transformed life Krishnamurti led, and this book covers all the most interesting facets of Krishnamurti's life with beautiful photographs, hand-written journal entries, and interviews with Krishnamurti and other great thinkers of his time.

This is the story of a man devoted to giving spiritual teachings -- a man who inspired many (including Bruce Lee, Van Morrison, Henry Miller, Deepak Chopra, and Joseph Campbell) with his tremendous wisdom and clarity. Many of Krishnamurti's thoughts and quotes are included, such as, "In yourself lies the whole world, and if you know how to look and learn, then the door is there and the key is in your hand. Nobody on earth can give you either that key or the door to open except yourself."

I highly recommend this book, both for its exquisite attention to the details and big picture of Krishnamurti's life, and for the inspirational wisdom it imparts to the reader.

One thing I have learnt from reading j.k. is that my searching is in fact escaping.. from no depths and from no hights will we recieve nor discover anything that can make us free. we already are as free as we see ourselves fit to be. escaping and compensating with new points of wiews under the false pretence that you have "matured" over time is wonderfull however, because it keeps you occupied, and tucks away the creeping feeling that you're missing something. and the doubts and the fears, the urge to become and overcome,- it keeps sticking to you, so you start wanting it. that is our balance-act. take it too seriously and you'll feel more dead than alive.
