The NLP coaching cards provide a catalog of useful phrases designed as a deck of cards to make learning easy. I've gone through the cards in order and I've played solitaire with them, examining the phrases as I play the cards. There's enough of an example in each to trigger my own imagination, and it's easy to fit the phrases with particular situations I've encountered. It also begins to get easier to access them when a situation calls for one or more.

This is such a wonderful alternative to singing boring old scales and other voice exercises, I find I'm singing much more because I really like almost all of these songs and can already see improvement. Susan's information is clear and concise, and I've learned more about how my voice works than with any other singing method I've tried. Very highly recommended.

I'd already worked with Volume One of this method so I knew it worked-I liked the first one and it helped my singing but I like this set of songs more. The book that comes with it isn't just a repeat of the first book, it actually has some new information. Both the CDs and the book are very well thought out and clear.

This book is a MUST for those interested in this area of knowledge. Written by 2 authorities, it is well organized, easy to read, and with a deep treatment of this subject, which is both a developing area in sports and one of the most difficult to find sources for learning. Well organized, it starts with some introductory chapters, where the theory behind this subject is outlines, together with the starting blocks to build any system for almost any sport. Then it follows a series of chapters where planning, developing and designing notationaal analysis are learned with practical "real life" examples for most sports. The authors describe very well the different types of notational analysis systems (hand, computer, video systems) with pros and cons of each one. The book is full of examples. Its only drawback is that in dealing with dessigning computer systems, they are based in old software, mostly BASIC language. After (and while) reading it one can find it is a full source of practical knowledge, most of the ideas are ready to use in most cases, and the reader will learn all what is necessary to develop notational analysis. One can only feel proud for buying it. For all interested in the science of notational analysis this is definitevely a Bible

Wondering why you're coaching? Wondering how you should approach the job? Coach Tong draws on his 30 years of collegiate teaching, coaching and parenting to contribute this very thoughtful and inspirational extended essay on the various aspects of what it really means to be a good athletic coach. He explores all the tough issues -- how much to emphasize winning, how to inspire responsibly, the relationship of modern American athletics to issues such as racism, sexism, and drugs ... all with the aim of presenting what is essentially a philosophy for improved coaching in these days of big money and high pressure college athletics. What comes through loud and clear is Coach Tong's commitment the athlete's full development, both on and off the field. Instead of just extracting what we can from the athletes that play for us, he shows how to create an athletic environment that provides lasting lesson's for the athlete's entire life.

This book gives one all that is needed to know about AYSO and the game of soccer. The emphasis is on the youth playing the game. The officials, parents and coaches are there to make the game "fun, fair and safe" for the kids, not to live vicariously through the kids. Good coverage of the game, the laws of the game and all that AYSO is about.

It seems there are a lot of YA books lately with sports themes, but tennis isn't usually the sport of choice. Carol Clippinger's OPEN COURT presents the competitive and emotional pressures of tennis.
Holloway "Hall" Braxton is just thirteen and is making her mark in the world of tennis. She has pretty much outgrown her competition in Colorado, so what is next? Both her coach and her parents think it's time to start looking at improving her world ranking, but Hall isn't sure she's ready. Competing in world class tournaments means moving on from her local coach and attending one of the private tennis academies her parents have been researching. It also means moving away from home.
Hall's life is suddenly more complicated than ever. It's not just her tennis life that is changing. She and her best friend seem to be headed in different directions. Her doubles partner recently suffered a nervous breakdown and is currently living in a mental facility. And then there's Luke, the country club, private school heartthrob who is suddenly paying Hall a lot of attention.
Every night Hall presses her ear to the heating vent between her room and the kitchen to hear her parents plot and plan her tennis future. Her father has his sights set on Bickford Tennis Academy in Florida. Her mother (Hall calls her The Weak Link) seems less sure about sending their only daughter off to swampy Florida and tennis torture. No one bothers asking Hall what she wants, and it's beginning to freak her out.
For awhile Hall tries to lose herself in the world outside tennis. She hangs with her friends, especially handsome Luke and new friend, Polly. Amazed that someone as popular as Luke could be interested in her, Hall explores another side of her personality as she sneaks out for late night swims and make-out sessions. Her longtime friendship with best friend Eve is abandoned as she spends time with more rebellious Polly. But tennis continues to haunt Hall. Is it just a game or is it a much more important part of who she is?
OPEN COURT reaches into the pressures of competitive tennis. The pressure to win, to please coaches and parents, the grueling hours of practice that interfere with friendships, and the powerful love of the game are all revealed in this fast-paced novel. Even those with little knowledge of the game of tennis will still appreciate the drive and determination that pushes and yet terrifies Hall. OPEN COURT is a worthwhile addition to any collection.
