THIS BOOK IS THE BOMB. GOD TRULY USED DR EVANS IN THIS BOOK. WHILE DEPLOYED TO BOSNIA I TAUGHT A BIBLE STUDY ON THIS BOOK AND IT WENT VERY WELL. EVERYBODY WANTED THIS BOOK AFTER THE STUDY. This is the best book on soccer data in the market. Where else would one know who was the champions of Fiji in 1985? It is a pity that the author was unable to update the soccer statistics for the 21st century. In the 10 years since this edition was published no encyclopedic soccer books have managed to match the sheer size and volume of this work. This book can be best described as the 'Bible" of soccer knowledge.

I would strongly recommend this book to all the soccer fanatics who treasure data and statistics in the world of football. To the passive fans however, this book is not to be recommended because it lacks any illustrations. This monumental work was researched for the HARDCORE fans of this beautiful game. My only wish is that a similar book of this depth would enter the market soon.

In the introduction, Oliver promised to expand his work in future editions. But I have yet to see any new editions coming into the market. I believe that this was his last work and his commitment to the game would be missed greatly.

This is THE reference book in terms of world soccer history/statistics. A magnificent work by Mr.Oliver in terms of compiling all the data that is presented in this book.
There is only one problem....no updated edition has been published since 1995.

This book needs to be read by all healthcare students and professionals considering short-term missions service. This is the kind of reference book i have been looking for a long time. Doing survey research oftentimes is confined to what oneself has done in the past. And some of the times, new ideas and mthods may also occur from colleagues and journal articles. Nonethess, the original questionaires are rarely included. Here is the cure.

I ran into this book at the office of a friend of mine in Hamburg and i simply cannot wait but buy a copy immediately.

This is an excellent book that contains every phamaceutical excipient that I have ever had the need to know about. I work for a dietary supplement manufacturer and we quite often get calls from customers that want to know all about all those "other ingredients" that are listed on product cartons. The book has a section for each excipient and each excipient has the following sections: Nonproprietary Names, Synonyms, Chemical Name and CAS Registry Number, Empirical Formula and Molecular Weight, Structural Formula, Functional Category, Applications in Pharmaceutical Formulation or Technology, Description, Pharmacopeial Specifications, Typical Properties, stability and Storage Conditions, Incompatibilities, Method of Manufacture, Safety, Handling Precautions, Regulatory Status, Pharmacopeias, Related Substances, Comments, Specific References, General References, and Authors. While I have a background in Biology, I found several of the sections to be easy to understand by several of our employees that do not have a science background. While, still, there was highly technical/scientific information as well. Each excipient's information is contained in 2-4 pages. The book is arranged alphabetically which makes finding information easy. In addition, it contains an index that is very well constructed. For example: If you are looking for an Emulsifying Agent, the index lists all the excipients that can be used for that purpose. I can't say enough how easy this book is to use. Its information is pared down to the essential text, and is chocked full of graphs, charts and microscopic photos of the excipients.

You can get ready for World Cup 2010 in South Africa by reading this book, and if for some reason, it is played somewhere else, it is still worthwhile reading. It should be reprinted.

I saw a list on the 50 best books on soccer to read from the magazine Four Four Two; and this one certainly belongs on that list. It wasn't there, but it was better than some I read that were on the list and that list is subjective anyway; as you read on what interests you; if you are interested in Africa; you'll gobble this book right up!

Peter Auf Der Heyde, the author really loves his subject; grew up in South Africa; both with Apartheid and with out it. He played goalkeeper for black teams in South Africa and is a journalist with a unique perspective. I'd read about anything by him; he is an encyclopedia on African soccer (which by the way, he calls someone else that in the book).

We read about his journeys to World Cup and African Nations Cup qualifiers as well, as viewing games at the World Cup and at the Cup of African Nations. Besides that, we read his coverage of the South African bid to hold the World Cup in 2006; which obviously failed, so the next time, was there time.

He travels the continent to see these games and of course, in one chapter, he was off to France to see the World Cup.

We learn about Muti (seems to be what black magic would be in South Africa) and Voodoo being used in soccer games in Africa, the amiable and pleasant nature of the players from there, about problems that had happened in stadiums that caused disasters, even the common subject in soccer about corruption in it's adminstration and associations among many topics and many countries.

Early in the book, we find out about the Football (read Soccer) Associations in South Africa, Auf Der Heyde's homebase country and a bit of the way it was during Apartheid and afterwards. This goes into quite a bit of detail; but it doesn't last long and is important. After that, this is an exceptional book, to read at night about faraway places and exotic locales. If Auf Der Heyde ever rights a sequel; I think, the only thing, Auf Der Heyde did not cover is the question there is about some African's birthdates in soccer. I'm sure he could tell us a lot about this. He is so knowledgeable in this field; I think, I could chat with him on African football (soccer) for hours.

There are a number of pages of photos which are in color. Quite a few of the pictures are noteworthy, including one of the author with Nelson Mandela.

If one enjoys this book, the movie on South Africa; Catch a fire I would recommend as well.

A joy to read both for the African and the football observations. Totally off the beaten path, and better for it.

I purchased the 2008 HCPCS Manual from Amazon and I was pleased with the time frame that it arrived and the manual was in perfect condition. I would definitely order Amazon again!
