In a single book, one can easily find the correct formulas and calculations to be used for most of today's popular testing equipment-skinfold calipers, bioelectrical impedance analysis, hydrostatic weighing, and more. Whether used by an exercise physiologist, nutritionist, doctor, researcher, or so forth, this is an incredible asset for any tester working in the health field.

One of the classics
Helpful Votes: 4 out of 4 total.

This was the first book on coaching track and field that I ever found. I think it's great.

Coach Brauman gets down to the nitty-gritty and is very technical.

I still use his information, fifteen years after getting the book. Which is, happily, falling apart.

Great for introducing tactics to your players
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2005-10-13
Building on "The Art of Defending Part I" which handles 1v1 through 8v8 play, this is a fantastic book for youth soccer coaches that are teaching those age groups that can grasp and employ tactical concepts (U12 and up, IMHO). Harrison breaks down defending into "phase play practices" that deal with defense in the defending, middle, and attacking thirds of the field respectively. Naturally the drills/short-sided games work well for teaching offense as well...I use the "Regaining Possession in the Attacking Third" games to also teach building the attack from the back. This and Harrison's other books are worth the money.

Now I'm a Sex and Intimacy Coach
Helpful Votes: 7 out of 9 total.
Review Date: 2006-03-14
This book was so wonderful in helping me define my work as a sex and intimacy coach. It took a very broad brush approach and probably a book could have been written on each of her chapters but it was also wonderful to have so much information and so many references in one easy place. I'm sure I'll return to it many times throughout my work.

An excellent presentation of practical gymnastic techniques
Helpful Votes: 11 out of 11 total.
Review Date: 1996-10-01
This very comprehensive presentation covers all gymnastic events, for both men and women. It can't cover everything, no one book could, but it is stunning in the breadth of its coverage. If you have looked for a practical book on gymnastics as a gymnast, a coach, or a parent, you know just how limited the selection is. Those few books that make a serious attempt to get across more than a minimum amount of information frequently use stick figures or other line drawings to save money. Money may be saved, but a great deal of detail and useful information is lost as well. Photos just do the job so much better. This book is the best I've ever seen in that regard. It's 400+ pages are crammed full of photos, easily numbering more than 1500, intelligently done and beautifully presented from a coach's perspective. It is an excellent source for any trainer or coach and could easily help an intelligent gymnast to gain a fuller understanding of what s/he is doing and why. Beyond the photos, the written commentary is just as practical and comprehensive, to the point of including practical tips for spotters. In a nutshell, this book has no competition in its class. If you're in the market for a book that serves as a tool that you can use every day as opposed to some sort of vague "resource", buy this one. The only reason I didn't give it a "10" is a male gymnast's natural dislike for a perfect score AND my desire for more, more, more! - Bob Adams

I have personally used the set and found it very helpful with my anxiety, stress, and depression. It is time consuming, you have to listen to a tape/CD every day and take the time to work in the workbook, but the time you put in is definately rewarded.
