I have a large cookbook collection, but I would definitely put "Home Cooking Sampler" by Peggy K. Glass on the small shelf of perennial favorites. Most of the recipes I have tried have become standards made over & over for family and friends. Her Buttermilk Pancakes are the best, and the Lemonade recipe is the one I make every summer. I wish all cookbooks were as simple and as full of delicious, reliable recipes as this one. Bravo, Ms. Glass! I am ordering your latest book today. Lee Costello Scott

I enjoyed Homecoming because of how true-to-life it was. They endured more than any family I have ever read about, but it did have a great happy ending. Even though this story took place during the Bolshevik revolution, it's very much like the treatment of Jews in Nazi Germany in World War II.

I saw this book at school. I love horses so I flipped through it. I thought it was pretty cool! I'd never seen so many horses. The pictures show how different horses look and explain the differences between them. I really like how the book is set up and how much information it offers. I recommend this book to anyone who loves horses and wants to learn about them. Hannah in Tulsa

My grandmother knew Catherine Barr, so my copy of A Horse For Sherry has a wonderful drawing inside the front cover which was drawn just for me. This was a treasured book that was read often, and treated so gently, that 40 years later, my daughter can read it, in seemingly mint condition. I admire the strength of character that Sherry learns when she gets her horse. It's given me strength too, over the years. With this book, I began a long tradition of collecting children's books signed by authors.

The book "A Horse For X.Y.Z." may not have been a best-seller, but it is an amazing book nonetheless. It is about a girl named Solvieg Nilsson, who longs to not be an ordinary girl in the middle of the alphabet. She wishes she could be named Xeina Yseult Zilch and be someone special. When she sneaks off the camp bus for a ride on the prized horse Snake Dancer, she finds out that the bus is not going to return for her, that Snake Dancer is a stolen horse and must be returned to his real owner, and that even though she's not Xenia Y. Zilch, she's the only one who can do it. This book is filled with humor; Solvieg's own biting sacasm aimed at herself will keep you laughing. This is a book for anyone who likes horses, humor, and ever wanted to be a hero.

I frequently seek copies of this book to give to old and young Jews (and would not hesitate to give to non-Jewish friends). It contains a collection of the practices that European Jews used, and transported to the US, to ward off the Evil Eye which was a constant (though imaginary) threat to their peace and comfort. While the Evil Eye, a form of the Angel of Death, is an enormous opponent, it is much more manageable by the repetition of simple phrases or the attachment of bright ribbons than the actual threats presented by hostile political forces and populations. As my mother, first generation American, read this book she often commented, "That's right. We did that." The implication was that any sane person would do the same thing. I have learned that Italian peasants among others shared some of the same practices

Though Colin Messer intended his book for certain models only, don't let that turn you off. In the John Muir tradition (How to keep your Volkswagen Alive: a manual of step by step procedures for the Compleat Idiot) Colin manages to entertain and inform at the same time. The illustrations are first rate and the expert knowledge has helped me many times over to understand and fix problems on my early Z car. Although the author clarified that the Z and other models were not covered, you can apply an enormous amount of info to other models. I consider this book an educational experience and though out of print, it is worth finding.

This is one of most easy to read, logical books I have ever read. My copy will have highlight marks all over it. I would recommend this book to anyone that is going through a turbulent time as I am. I have read several other books recently as my troubles have just kept piling up and none of the other books have really given me any concrete solutions until this one. I believe that this book will help me through.

This laboratory manual is the perfect follow-up to Marieb's 6th Edition for many, many reasons. It not only goes into greater detail about material presented in the book with suggested lab exercises, but also successfully breaks down all the "fluff" into an understandable format. Utilizing the effectiveness of the PhysioEX CD-ROM and the many detailed diagrams which come in a massive abundance, this lab manual is perfectly suitable for anyone looking for an extra reference source to use. Overall there are 46 different exercises which closely mirror the progressing content of the book, along with 46 more practice exercises that're really quizzes over the covered material. The many highlighted phrases and bolded words really help to point out what is most crucial to memorize and (as I've found after taking my first test) really are a big help. All in all I'd have to say this lab manual is nothing short of spectacular - from the way it meticulously guides the student through the actual lab step by step, to the way the information is presented in an understandable manner. The price is pretty reasonable, however the only advice I do have for potential buyers is to try and buy a hardback copy if available. The one I own that came with my text is a spiral-bound paperback and is very susceptible to damage. Nevertheless, if you're not able to find a hardback copy I'd still recommend this to anyone taking Anatomy & Physiology simply for its priceless information.
