Professor Joram Warmund is my Professor is my professor in History here @ LIU (NYC). This book shows and explains how important Jackie Robinson was and how his impact left a legacy on America. It also shows that Brooklyn was the epicenter of new change for the race issue in America. I never realized how important Jackie Robinson was until Prof. Warmund taught this book.
Great discription and rare pictures inside.

I was a student a Berklee when this first was published.
After I had bought it, I was talking to my piano teacher. He commented that this book encapsulates everything that they were trying to teach in the piano program.
Hyperbole? Perhaps, but it's still a ringing endorsement.

This is a great book written by a great jazz player. It is easy to understand for the beginner, yet at a high enough level for the more advanced player. An excellent reference for scales, modes, or any other jazz techniques. I found that if I studied this book, it helped me out memorizing and remembering QUICKLY how to apply them to the piano. A must buy!

John Elway: Armed and Dangerous, by Clay Latimer, is a must for the John Elway and Denver Bronco fans. It is an easy to read book on Elway's career and personal life filled with quotes from players and unknown stories about other football greats. It sometimes drags a little as it gets off the subject quite a bit.
Excellent summary of #7's NFL life and career

This book is a great read for Bronco and Elway fans of any age. It chronicles the life of John Elway from the time he was a child, through college and his joining of the Broncos, to his victory against the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl XXXII. Black and white pictures are included with each chapter, and the center section 14 pages of color photos, as well. The author (Clay Lattimer) is a sports writer for the Rocky Mountain News, and he also draws on Sports Illustrated, Becket Football Monthly, and even Newsweek, as well as several other sports sources, so he packs a lot of information, dates, and statistics into each chapter. He also packs a lot of superfluous detail, too -- the writing meanders a bit and doesn't always stay on focus. But hey -- if you're an Elway fan (like me), who cares? The book is fun to read even in the places where it goes off topic. If there was such a thing as a "definitive" biography of an Elway, this would probably be it. If you're an Elway fan, get this book and enjoy it!

The book, Kareem!: Basketball Great is a wonderful book. The book provides a look into his childhood, where he struggled to fit in because of his height, Also, it tells of how he envisioned California as a great place but upon arrival at UCLA he hated it. His struggles with the national attention he recieves and the immaturity of his dormmates. The book gives a view of the beginning of his pro career with the Milwaukee Bucks. I give the book 5-Stars and recommend it to all sports fans.

Sinjin Smith seems to have a tendency to polarize volleyball people. They either love him or hate him, for the most part. No true volleyball lover, however, can deny his impact and influence on the beach game.
Kings of the Beach, though, is less about Sinjin than it is about the history and development of the beach game, with the occassional aside about the indoor version as well. If you are at all interested in the history of beach volleyball, you definitely want to read this book, and will almost certainly enjoy doing so.

Sinjin Smith, one of the most famous volleyball players, has written a fine masterpiece with his book entitled, "Kings of the Beach." Sinjin gives you an insight into the game with its history, how he got involved in the sport and how he became a fixture in the sport for so many years with former partner, Randy Stoklos. I found this book to be a great read and I couldn't put it down. There a lot of great photos as well. Overall, I'd recommend this book to any volleyball fan. I hope that Sinjin will edit it and produce a new edition someday and I hope this review helps a fan out in the process too.

If you're a Notre Dame fan, and don't know the names, Johnny Lujack, Angelo Bertelli, Creighton Miller, George Connor, Jim Martin, Leon Hart, Emil Sitko, John Panelli, Bill Fischer, or Frank Leahy, you need this book. These players, and many others, played at a time (1940's) when you played both offence and defense. During this period, Notre Dame won 4 National Championships, produced 3 Heisman Trophy winners, 2 Outland Trophy winners, and numerous All-Americans.
Jack Connor has written a lively and entertaining book about these great players with many personal stories and insight, and he should know, he was one of them.

This book is a wonderful chronicle of the men who played for Frank Leahy and the impact that he had upon them as they progressed beyond Notre Dame. My grandfather played fullback for Leahy and I had him sign copies for my kids as a lasting momento of the experience he had while playing at Notre Dame.

Although I am not a baseball fan, I really enjoyed reading about a girl who found the strength to make her dreams come true, no matter how hard it was. I am very excited that an author has taken the time to write sports books for girls. Read this book, I am positive that you will enjoy this book and the others in the Broadway Ballplayers series.
