This book is a must read for every parent. We need to bring up our children to be morally responsible citizens. Each chapter shares ideas and simple acitivities on how to plant the seeds to produce people you would want to be in charge of running the world. It also reaffirms that as a parent you have the most important role in shaping your child. As a counselor, teacher and most importantly parent to three children, I have recommended this book to both family members and clients alike!

I have a sixteen-year-old who is questioning all morals. I was finding it difficult to put into words the importance of morals. I bought this book for her to read. She isn't reading it, but I am and I'm finding it very helpful in facilitating discussions with her. At dinner time I bring up one of the seven moral virtues and ideas that the book presents. I've found that it leads to great conversations with her about character and moral behaviors. It has given me the words for concepts that can be difficult to convey in our current morally challenging times. I recommend buying this book when your children are young and referencing it often.

"Building Moral Intelligence" by Dr. Michele Borba is a book that every parent should read and own. In a world where there are so many negative influences on the internet, in the media, T.V. shows, magazines etc. many parents do not even realize the amount of immoral influences that our children are witnessing every single day. As parents, it is up to us to teach our children the importance of good character. We need to teach them about the seven essential virtues as Dr. Borba explains in her book!
I realize that I'm digressing from a review, but I want to say this. Our world and our lives have changed recently, but the one thing that remains the same is that our children are the future. And as Theodore Roosevelt said "To Educate a Person in Mind and not in morals is to educate a menace to society" This book will not only help you raise good kids, it will open any readers eyes and hearts, inspiring them to build their moral intelligence as well. We must teach by example...this book will help you do that! If you want your kids to do the right thing, then this book is for you!

Very useful prescription to put kids on. It is what's missing in America today. To those who really love their family and our country, be sure to read Building Moral Intelligence by Michele Borba, and also, West Point: Character Leadership Education.. by Norman Thomas Remick.

Jonathan Quinn is an independant free- lance "cleaner". What that means is that Quinn disposes of bodies that people need to make disappear. So when Quinn goes to the LA shipping docks for a job, no one is more surprised than Quinn when he reconizes the body as a former CIA agent and friend Steven Markoff. Markoff's body was stuffed into a barrel but inside the barrel is some writing that looks to be some type of code. Quinn is off to figure out the mystery behind why his friend was killed. Also Markoff had a girlfriend named Jenny that Quinn is determined to save. Quinn finds himself in Singapore in the middle of an international cat and mouse game that could make matters worse for the US.


Quinn is one person you don't want to mess with, when it comes to "cleaners". All the characters in this book were strong, which is why this book was so good. This is my first book by Brett Battles and I can tell you that it was an outstanding book. I enjoyed the fast pace of The Deceived and thought the storyline was believeable and filled with action. You can bet I will be checking out The Cleaner by Mr. Battles. The Deceived reminded me of The Bourne Identity. I can't believe that I have never heard of Mr. Battles till now. Watch out all you reader fans of thrillers that will keep you going till the last page with a few twists thrown in the mix as you just might find yourself like I did falling fast and hard for Brett Battles and his books.

THE DECEIVED, Brett Battles' second Jonathan Quinn book, takes off like it's been shot from a gun, and then it accelerates. And, remarkably, it also presents us with a cast of fully rounded characters; often, when a book moves this fast, the characters are little more than smears on the narrative's wall.

From the opening scene, when Quinn shows up for a job only to discover the body of an old friend, through to the action-piled-on-action closing sequences in steamy Singapore, Battles never once dilutes the urgency and momentum of the story. Quinn, whom we met for the first time in THE CLEANER, is not only convincing, but also convincingly smart. I think there are few more disorienting effects in fiction than meeting a character who's supposed to be smart, who the author tells us is smart, and who everybody else describes as smart, and who . . . isn't. Quinn is genuinely smart, and that helps us believe in him and in everything that happens to him.

Battles is also extremely good at setting the scene and making the setting part of the story. The most successful literary settings (I think) not only contain the characters, but also reflect them. Whether Quinn is in the bone-dry desert or the humid sultriness of Singapore, there's an interaction between setting and character that made the whole story richer for me.

Other than Battles, the only writer I know of right now who's as good at this kind of red-zone tension is Lee Child. That's good company to be in. And since Lee Child sells lots and lots (and lots) of books, let me say that you're going to love Brett Battles if you like Lee Child. Buy this book.

Brett Battles THE DECIEVER is a great book, fast paced, exciting and full of wonderful details about how spies do their business. It's got all the hallmarks of a great thriller including exotic locales, neat gadgets, believable violence, people who aren't whom they appear to be and, oh yes, a little bit of sex just to keep us interested.

The plot, well, the plot, as is often the case in books like this, doesn't really matter. For the first three hundred or so of its three hundred fifty-eight pages no one, including the characters, have any idea what's happening and neither will you...fortunately it doesn't matter in the least, just go along for the roller coaster ride but watch out for that last dip - it's a lulu! We first met Jonathan Quinn in THE CLEANER and I for one am thrilled to renew his acquaintance. In THE DECIEVER one of Quinn's few real friends is killed and Quinn sets off in search of his missing girlfriend. Along the way Quinn and his team, Orlando, an electronics expert who is a match for Quinn in every way, and his apprentice Nate chase after the girlfriend with stops in Houston, Washington D. C., San Francisco and Singapore. I won't give you the details but there's some great chase scenes, a few gunfights, some second story work and lot's of interesting details of spy craft that will keep your eyes glued to this book well after your bedtime.

Brett Battles has a bright future as a thriller writer assuming he doesn't lose his center. I sincerely hope to see many more books featuring Jonathan Quinn but the ending of THE DECEIVER leaves an opening to take this series in a very different direction moving into the realm of Robert Ludlum rather then continue charting his own very different direction. This, in my opinion, would be a mistake. The Quinn books do indeed exist in a byzantine world of spies, assassins and conspiracies but they're more about the process and tradecraft then they are about the details of the plotters and their plots. Quinn reminds me of Richard Stark's Parker, a cool professional who overcomes every obstacle regardless of the odds not because he's a superhuman but because he simply knows how (and shares the fascinating details with us, the readers).

The Deceived is definitely a thriller and Battles has no trouble keeping up the pace or making his book engaging. The main character, Jonathan Quinn, is a professional "cleaner". When Quinn is called about a dead body in a shipping container he is shocked to discover that the dead body is his friend Steven Markoff, a ex-CIA agent. Quinn now has to find Markoff's girlfriend Jenny in hopes of discovering why Markoff's body was sent to him and why he was killed. And what he finds along the way is quite surprising.

OK, apologies to Brett Battle fans in advance. I realize I'm going against the crowd on this one - twelve-out-of-twelve five star reviews is impressive, and was certainly enough to get me to spring for sixteen-and-change and more importantly, five or six hours of my time. I'd never heard of Brett Battles, had never read "The Cleaner", and was excited about adding a hot new thrill writer to my list. If I were to be charitable, I'd say that Battles and "The Deceived" is the funniest thriller/action parody since Maxwell Smart. Problem is, Battles is being dead serious in this melodramatic yawner of a "thriller" with all the depth and intelligence of a made-for-TV movie. The steely-eyed "cleaner", Jonathan Quinn, is about as believable - and intimidating - as Howdy Doody, while the dialog - even more flat and cardboard than the cast - makes that TV movie look like Hitchcock by comparison. It's forced, it's banal, and it's built on a themes so old that when told in stone tablet they were already feeling tired.

So our hero, Quinn, finds the body of an old pal and CIA operative, Steve Markoff, rotting in a shipping container that Quinn was dispatched to "clean-up". And clean up he does, but he's pissed, and in addition to avenging his dead bud, he at the same time will track down Markoff's missing girlfriend, obviously in danger as well. From that point on, a good portion of the book is consumed by pretty much everyone who crosses Quinn's path telling him to back off and forget Markoff, followed by Quinn's stoic response that runs something like "a man's got to do what a man's got to do." Over, and over, and over again. This tedium is broken by multiple competing teams of supposedly elite hit squads chasing Quinn down, but in their inability to pin down the undermanned Quinn, who we are told (again, repeatedly) is out of his element as a tracker (remember - he's only a "cleaner"), they come off looking less like Delta Force and more like a match between the Three Stooges and The Keystone Cops. Yeah, there's an explosion or two, some people get killed, a few more maimed, but the action serves only as a welcome diversion from the juvenile babbling between the characters. This is one of those books that you keep wishing will get better - that clever plot twists and good storytelling will trump flat characters and lame dialog - but trust me here - it only gets worse.

Look, I get no pleasure panning a book. I'd much rather be singing the praises of Ken Bruen's brutally violent poetic prose, of Danial Silva's headlines-brought-to life, Carl Hiaasen's caustic razor sharp wit, Duane Swiercynski's off-the-wall heroes and outrageously creative escapades, of Cormac McCathy's pathos ripped and twisted and reassembled, or James Lee Burke's moody and atmospheric, faintly supernatural, tales of the bayou. This is none of those - not even close - so take this as simply as a red flag - a warning not to be 'deceived" as I was hoping to find a new author with some chops and a hero to match.

Meanwhile, I'm still looking.

For once a book that makes you THINK.
To say the example is from the Boer war period (1900) and that the principles exposed are still useful today will give you an idea of how good this little book is...
I've been a military reader all my life (I even did a compulsory military service) and this is on my top ten.
I must admit my interest in war is more concentrated in earlier periods... and the introduction of modern weapons and khaki is my personal limit (mass murder and carpet bombing I find hard to digest)... of course this is pretty silly of me (war has never been "gentle"... but I'll cling to my romantic approach to the subject).

But getting back to the point, the alternatives, thought provoking questions, and scenarios provided by this little gem DID impress me a lot!, I must confess that after years of wargaming and reading about war I committed all the possible mistakes in my deployments and anticipating what...

So the lecture is really a "come back to earth" experience.
A brilliant book, recommended even for crime (is it not a crime to cause the dead of your soldiers because of your negligence?) and mystery aficionados and not exclusively for military buffs.

Marine officers are often required to read this book during The Basic School (the six month infantry-focused training all lieutenants undergo after OCS or the Naval Academy). I have read that some Army schools also list it as required reading. Swinton takes a simple issue, the defense of a small swatch of land during entrusted to a young officer, and uses dream sequences to illustrate shortcomings of various tactical approaches to the problem. The officer realizes via hindsight the solutions to each problem and the reader becomes engaged in a sort of Monday-morning quarterbacking of his methods. Just when you think you have the answer, Swinton tears your theory to pieces with the next report of failure. After reading all of the scenarios, one realizes that the answer was so simple and some basic but careful analysis would yield the answer. That is the heart and core of tactics. Making a quick decision with limited information but moderate knowledge in order to come up with a 90% solution. Not only is this book a must-read, it yields new lessons every time I go back to it. It's one of those books you buy and come back to every few years. Highly recommended for the military historian, NCO or junior officer.

A perfect primer for every small-unit leader and above. Learn guerilla tactics and how to counter them from the series mistakes in a series of dreams of another young Lt. The story is a fast-paced and entertaining story and provides lessons learned by real combat experience. Though the setting is the Anglo-Boer war, the lessons are universal and well thought out. An enjoyable primer on small unit leadership of counterinsurgency.

Hypothetical Lt Backsight Forethought has 50 men and a mission to hold a drift in South African territory during the Boer War of 1899-1902, and he starts his mission fresh from officer training and being totally unaware of the realities of combat. In the first trial he gets beaten really bad but he analyzes his faults and learn from them. He also gets beaten in his second, third, fourth and fifth trial, every time making different mistakes which the enemy does not forgive. Finally, when he has a sixth chance to re-fight the battle he puts up a splendid performance making his opponent to pay dearly and holding the drift until friendly reinforcements arrive. It is a very enjoyable little book and although it was written a hundred years ago it is still very useful for anyone who wants to learn about the core of tactical prowess in infantry battle.

Swinton is a military professional with experience in the Boer War who wrote this famous short book based on a series of thoughts he had on how a infantry unit with only 50 men could defend a river crossing. A young Lieutenant has the role but you are given his perspective, the terrain features, the political situation, conflict with civilians and limits on your own military support. There is a brief history of the war with the "Dutch" and then your Lieutenant receives his assignment. With the use of maps, there are six scenarios of the Lieutenants approach to defending the crossing (drift). Each scenario is acted out and with each of the first five scenarios there are several lessons learned such as the effect of enfilading fire, the limitations of a simple trench, the use of the military crest versus being located on top of the hill, the effect the local sympathetic population may have on aiding guerrilla fighters, the effect of surprise, disguising your defense from view, proper posting of sentries and responsibilities, how to combat artillery, dealing with multiple directions of attack, using the terrain to advantage and on. As the Lieutenant in each scenario learns from his mistakes, he alters the outcome to his advantage but only incrementally. Only at the end and sixth scenario does he get it right but with realistic loss. The same map is introduced in each scenario with defense features matching the new defensive tactics. Fascinating book for all interested in basic infantry tactics, which has been used as a training manual for militaries world wide. This is a very readable book that can be read in less than 2 hours time. Applicable to any war but this book would be interesting to read with an account of Rappahannock Station, which was a spearhead position held by Confederates in advance of Lee's line on November 7, 1863 where Meade's forces overwhelmed the defenders and took almost 3,000 prisoners. Duffer's Drift would be very applicable here.

This book is awesome! Does not go indepth, but has ALL the pertinent information related to specific diseases/clinical signs (definitions, Physiology, symptoms, lab work, treatment, follow up care)all on one page! A VERY useful book so far, especially from a tech's point of view!

Just replaced my 3rd edition, the 4th addition is a bit better has some new information, doseages for new drugs and a CD with Client education handouts.

I needed this item ASAP and I received it on time which was excellent since I paid for fast shipping. The cover of the book though looked a little worn. The book was supposed to be new but looking at it I wasn't 100% sure. If I had time I probably would have returned it for another copy. Besides that I was satisfied with my purchase.

Whenever I encounter a new disease, or need to refresh my memory about one I haven't seen lately, I reach for this book first. I find it to be concise, informative, and useful. While other medical texts make for good fireside or bedtime reading, this one cuts to the chase, and is useful in the midst of a busy veterinary schedule.
I use this book as my "nerd book", jotting notes in the margins when I learn something new about a disease from reading journals. Overall I am quite impressed at how up-to-date and complete the information is vis-a-vis JAVMA, the Compendium for Continuing Education, etc. I also appreciate that this book comes out in new additions often enough to keep up with the rapid changes in veterinary medicine.

My mom bought this book for my son several years ago at a small bookshop. It has been one of our favorites ever since. My son has enjoyed it from 4 years old to 11 and now his 3 and 4 year old brother and sister are enjoying it. This is one of the best. It is geology with a slight spritual undertone - I think anyway! I wish this book was available new to give as gifts.

This is a very colorful and educational book for kids. It's a fun way for children to learn about geology!

as someone working with geologists and geology as a career, i found earthsteps to be a fun way to introduce this subject to children. most children are not exposed to earth science, so a book of this calibur should be a part of all elementary school libraries.

*Earthsteps: A Rock's Journey Through Time* is one of those rare children's books that an adult can also enjoy reading over and over. The illustrations complement the thoughtful and intelligent text, making it a journey to enjoy and to learn from at the same time. My 14 year old read it eagerly, as did my 11 year old. I expected that because they are both voracious readers who have a geologist father, but what I was delighted by was the excited interest of the 5 through 9 year olds to whom I read it at the school where I substitute teach regularly. I highly recommend this fine work to everyone.

I enthusiastically recommend this book! Who knew that the journey of a rock through time was dramatic AND fascinating? When was the last time you considered how a simple rock came to be? This story is as educational as it is entertaining to the children who have read it in my home. I had a five-year-old guest for the weekend, and THIS is the book she wanted out of all the books in my library. She was drawn to this rock and cared what happened to it. It was fun for her to "find" the rock in every beautiful illustration. Every time I read it to the younger children, I learn a little more, too!

This book is a must read for both those who are familiar with Energy Psychology techniques and those who are just being introduced to them. It is clearly written with easy to follow instructions, and loaded illustrations demonstrating the techniques. After reading it, I purchased three more copies to loan to my clients. This is an excellent book that delivers on the promise in its title, presenting clearly and convincingly the tools and methods that can identify and transform beliefs that block one's progress and satisfaction in life. Sheila Bender and Mary Sise have a very readable style that engages the reader's interest as it explains biological energy fields, blocking beliefs and how to deal with them.

Helpful nuggets that stand out include:

· Energy field perturbations (well known in the numerous therapy traditions as signs of problems), as well as elaters and harmonizers (positive aspects of energy fields);

· Energy field reversals (again, well known in the Energy Psychology) and energetic belief reversals that can block progress;

· Self-testing for energetic belief blocks.

The scripts and diagrams for using the Touch and Breathe method, supplemented with richly illustrated case examples provide a clear understanding of how to apply these methods. This book is warmly recommended to those who are seeking methods for self-healing.

A thorough overview of the Lusitania's construction, features, and last voyage, as well as Ballard's impressive modern-day expeditions to the wreck itself. For the record Ballard's investigations strongly suggest the "accepted truth" of the liner being a clandestine courier of munitions for the British war effort was probably never true at all: or if true then stored armaments were not a factor in the ship's sinking. Rather Ballard points to the culprit being coal dust residue that had infiltrated the inner hull, and was set off by the initial impact of the torpedo. This is a great sort of book. It appeals visually, intellectually, and includes some terrific mythbusting that comes as a result of sound investigative work.

Of course, Dr Robert Ballard will forever remain the man who found the Titanic, but in this book he also provides the reader with an extremely well documented account of the loss of the Lusitania.

Mysteries are mysteries and whilst there are those experts which insist such and such happened, there will also be those who assert the opposite. I shouldn't say this I know, but it the way in which Bob Ballard takes such a thorough approach to his subject, it leaves one feeling that the only book you need to read on the entire subject of the loss of the Lusitania is this one.

Exploring the Lusitania - yet another four-funnelled passenger liner built before WW1, is a large coffee-table book approx. A4 size. Just a glance at the pictures throughout the richly illustrated pages (227 altogether) reveals the extent of the research to which the author has gone on behalf of the reader. There are many historic pictures of the ship itself - including when she was no more than a keel. Others include paintings of the day, newspaper cuttings and postcards showing internal and external views. Then there are the photographs of the tragedy itself and the effect it had upon the people of Ireland. Photographs of seemingly unimportant people at the booking office and individuals such as the Captain. Dr Ballard has been equally thorough when it comes to detailing the U-Boat which sank the Lusitania and we are treated to almost the same level of coverage of vessel and individuals and their trade of war.

Once again, however, the author has put together the most outstanding collection of artwork created by Ken Marschall. From thousands of photographic images taken from the wreckage itself, Bob Ballard created a complete montage (i.e. a big photograph made up of thousands of little photographs) of the various sections of the wreck so that Mr Marschall was able to provide us with the most accurate paintings of various sections and even the entire wreck. The one painting I had to look at again and again was the painting of the sinking across pages 96/97. For a moment there I thought the world's greatest photographer had been on hand to capture the event.

I congratulate Dr Ballard on another excellent and professional job of work. Another outstanding book and yet again 5 stars are not enough.

The illustrations and photographs alone make this book worth owning. It is very direct and to the point for the most part.

Also of interest is the contrast between Lusitania, a shallow water wreck, and vessels such as Titanic and Bismarck which are under miles of water.

Bob Ballard's string of investigations into famous shipwrecks, while doing solid science continues in this exploration of the Lusitania.

The famous Cunard liner was torpedoed off the Irish coast in 1915, and was one of the pivotal events that dragged an isolationist America into the First World War.

Ballard's work at laying the groundwork for his book is again exceptional. Cunard's need to battle the White Star and other cruise lines for the transatlantic business is examined, and the method was indeed an interesting one. Cunard entered into an arrangement with the British government to build the Lusitania and her sister ship, Mauretania. In exchange for a loan, the government got the right to call the ships up for wartime service, and the builders set up placements for deck guns on the vessels.

This was before it was found that using cruise liners as "armed merchant cruisers" was just not practical.

In any case, the setting of the scene as the Lusitania headed east is well done--the German government has given fair warning to anyone sailing on British or Allied vessel that they're fair game. A German U-boat is known to be off the coast, the Lusitania is traveling at less than full power, her captain chooses not to zigzag, then waste time taking an involved bearing on the land...and the end is known.

Question: Did Winston Churchill stake out the Lusitania and let her be sunk as an effort to get the US into the war? It wouldn't be out of his mindset, but there appears to be little in the way of proof that he did such a thing. Of greater interest is the secret correspondence between Admiral Tirpitz and Admiral Jacky Fisher, in which the latter tells his German counterpart that he'd have done the same thing in going after the Lusitania if the roles were reversed.

The examination of the wreck is sad; there's not much left of her, as the ship has been used for depth charge practice. There was not much of an effort to get inside her as was done on other ships. Perhaps there's little point.

Once again, Ken Marschall's paintings are stellar and the book is well worth reading...and looking at.

This handsome companion to the excellent National Geographic documentary is the best overview and photographic record of the Lusitania disaster I have seen. If you only own or read one book on the Lusitania, let it be this one! It covers the key issues surrounding the tragedy: Why did the powerful, double bottom ship go down so quickly (only 18 minutes compared to over 2 hours for the less robust Titanic)?; What caused the second explosion?; Was the Lusitania carrying arms? Dr. Robert Ballard, who discovered the Titanic and explored the Bismarck, uses advanced equipment to go down into the ocean's depths to answer these questions and to give us a glimpse of how the Lusitania looks today through remarkable photographs and the masterpieces of maritime artist Ken Marschall.

The text of the book is very well-written. It does not go into as much of depth as longer books as it explains the sinking through accounts of select survivors, some alive at the time of the book's publication. Still, it reveals many lesser known points. First Sea Lord Winston Churchill, in France at the time of the tragedy, might have ordered a naval escort for the famed passenger liner (pg. 78). It notes that the U.S. tanker Gunflight was torpedoed the week before (pg. 124). Unlike the documentary, readers learn that nurse Alice Lines--who was still alive when the documentary was made--actually missed the lifeboat when she made her desperate leap with baby Audrey (pg. 102). The book takes a fair look at the sinking. There is much empathy for the German side (Lusitania was, after all, an auxiliary cruiser in a war zone) and is quite critical of Captain Turner who ignored the Admiralty's instructions on steering a zigzag course away from the shore in areas where subs lurked. The most valuable part of this book on a informational level is that it solves the mystery of the second explosion some witnesses believed was a second torpedo or the explosion of arms in the ships magazine.

As interesting as the text is, the illustrations make this book the best on the subject. Photos and startlingly accurate period postcards give the reader a look at Lusitania's interior in first, second, and steerage classes. Posters and memorabilia illustrate the propaganda war which followed. Finally, pages 144-89 explore the Lusitania and compares the ship then & now in remarkable photos. The highlight is a well preserved first class tub and shower found just outside the ship compared with a period illustration (pp. 172-3). A fold-out shows the sunken giant in full length thanks to the excellent work of artist Marschall. His realistic paintings look like photographs!

The book is very thorough. It includes a critical look at the inquiries into the sinking, the fates of some of the major players including U Boat commander Schwieger, a brief look at Lusitania's sister ship Mauretania, and a chronology of the two Cunard sisters. The only inconsistency I found was that Schwieger reported that he did not know he had torpedoed the Lusitania until he saw her name on her bow; however, the Lusitania name was covered up at the time to trick the enemy during the war (pg. 203). Still, this book is an excellent introduction to the Lusitania story and a more than sufficient and revealing account if one chooses not to read further.

I loved this book. Susan gets right to the point and explains fat and sugar and more including the way to catch the tricks on food labels. She also includes recipes to help you become lean light and healthy. I read this book and liked it. I didn't listen though!

Our building has a bin in the laundry room where people put things that they don't want anymore, in case someone else in the building would like to have them. That's where I found "Food" by Susan Powter. As someone who is sick to death of "fad diets" and believes that carbs convert to starch, then to sugar, then to fat, I didn't hold out much hope for the book. But it surprised me. I absolutely *love* this book, but am reading it very slowly, one small section at a time. It's a bit overwhelming to take in all at once because Ms. Powter is such a powerful speaker, but she speaks good, common sense and has an uncanny knack for knowing what you're thinking, and saying so. I find her style delightful, her research & references sound, the medical information challenging (who knew how many different kinds of fats there are, and what they are?), and her sense of humor refreshing. I like the way she backs up her statements, I liked finding out that I'm not the only one who has qualms about eating animal products. Although I'm not getting radical or turning vegan or anything, I can now see where the fats come from, exactly how much protein we *really* need and where we can get it, exactly what is supposed to be so great about dairy, what it has to offer, and where *else* I can get that. I'm drinking water for the first time in my life, taking vitamins, and most importantly, reading labels, in the store, and teaching my sons how to do so also. We are all implementing her ideas, with good results, slimming down and feeling more energetic for the first time since I was disabled ten years ago. By the time I am finished with this book, and its recipies, and everything else I plan to do with the next book (which I've already ordered), who knows? Might get those Gwen Stefani abs yet, and just in time for summer too...ahh...thank you, Susan, for showing me how to get rid of the flab and eat right, feed my kids healthy, whole foods, cut the garbage out of my diet and take control of my kitchen. I hope this book does the same for others, but my advice is to be patient with it. Take your time, don't go gonzo making huge sudden changes. It is written to cover three phases of changing your diet, so take it slow. Baby steps. Do that, and it will work for you. The best thing about it is that you learn to eat more, not less. You can eat as much as you want, whenever you like. It is *what you eat* that the book deals with, and if you're thinking that it's a bland, yucky diet, no way. The recipies are absolutely delicious with next to no fat, and there are a lot of recipies in there. Tons. And kids like them too. If you're wondering whether or not to buy this book, I'd have to say go for it, and take it seriously. It has more benefits than I can possibly list here, so enough said. See for yourself!

This is a really cute book for toddlers/preschoolers/K-2 kids. It helps with colors for the really little ones, then with short sentences to read or write later. I actually bought this for my 10 year old daughter - lol - she always loved this book. I guess the bright colors and sparkle of the foil cut outs of the eggs appealed to her in Kindergarten when she saw it in the school library - she's checked it out every year at least 6 times ever since (4th grade now). Every kid has a few books that they just adore and can't get enough of, so I got it for her to keep and give her own kid(s) some day (she has my old copy of "Bambi's Fragrant Forest" - a 1970's scratch 'n sniff book). It's a visually pleasing book and little ones will enjoy it.

I love the illustrations in this book!!! My 2-year-old may be a little too young for the story, but she loves looking at the pictures.

My son learned his colors because of this book! Each page has a different color of egg, the story rhymes so well, and its a lift-the-flap book! The pictures have so much detail sometimes we spend extra time looking in the background for other animals and talking about what they are doing. We've had this book for a year and it is still very popular at our house!

I purchased this book for my nephew and he absolutely loves it. Beautiful illustrations and a very cute story for children from 1-6 years old. However, the book seemed a bit warped when I purchased it but I attributed it due to the delivery process.
