A must for all Lyme Disease patients!!!

Wow! It was so great to finally find a lyme book that had all of this information on different treatment protocols, and herbal supplements. I have been very disappointed in the past concerning lyme book purchases, as I felt that my own research had given me more information than the books did. As a late stage lyme patient I was fortunate enough to find a local llmd who practices integrative medicine, using the best of both western and alternative treatments trying to get this vicious disease out of my life. This book will be read again, and again and will be a tremendous resource when searching for new treatments to help me get well.

Lyme disease is nothing to sneeze at, but few have any answers as to how they will survive it. Strasheim has survived and has been gracious enough to share what she has learned on her journey.

First, we want to know "physical strategies for health Lyme disease." The author describes "finding your healing path in a labyrinth of possibilities" and explains the "seven primary protocols." This is a good starting point for anyone who has Lyme, knows of anyone who has Lyme, or for someone who may get Lyme. Being educated or prepared is essential.

Next, Strasheim explores the "detoxification strategies." Once you start killing off the bacteria with the treatment protocols, they either pile up in your body or you get them out through detoxification. And toxins are everywhere! The author discusses "eliminating stealth toxins from your diet and household." This is extremely important even without a Lyme disease sentence.

Testing and supplements are an important part of Lyme disease and Connie does a good job covering these topics. "Hormone balance" and "adjunct Lyme disease treatments" are two other areas the author wants us aware of - written in easy to read format.

Heavy metals, diet, and an easy to follow exercise plan are available. The author promises that the exercise plan will "get you moving, but won't leave you wiped out." Who doesn't want to benefit from exercise and still have enough energy to take the cap off the probiotics? And for those of you who may have little income, Strasheim discusses "formatting a protocol on a budget." For many Lyme disease victims, among the first things to go is the income. We find we are unable to work eight hours at one time - if we're able to work at all. This budget idea strikes me as unique - maintaining one's health on a shoestring just may be the answer for you. Connie rounds the book out with "habits" and a "little humor."

With Lyme disease, there are often obstacles and challenges. Of course the physical problems associated with Lyme disease can, in themselves, be horrific. But little do we consider the emotional and mental difficulties that may be involved. How do we handle a social obligation when we look fine, but we aren't feeling well? Is there a way to get through the day and still smile? "The Lyme Disease Survival Guide" provides insight and guidance from someone that has experienced the disease firsthand.

The Lyme Disease Survival Guide appears at first glance to be a book. But in reality, it is a GPS device cleverly designed by its creator to guide the Lyme Disease victim or caregiver successfully through the murky, bewildering, labyrinthine world of Lyme Disease.

What immediately struck me about Connie Strasheim's valuable contribution to our ongoing battle with Lyme Disease, was her personal dedication and sacrifice of time obviously required to research, accumulate and organize the crème de la crème of the bewildering plethora of Lyme Disease treatments and diagnostic protocols that currently exist.

Even though quite ill herself, Ms. Strasheim somehow managed to struggle through the omnipresent barriers of fatigue and cognitive impairment to pull together in a cogent and didactic format as much useful information as possible to help her fellow Lyme Disease sufferers.

It is sad that someone with her writing and organizational skills, enhanced by her innate ability to inject humor at the most opportune time to get the point across, should be stricken with such a dreadful disease. But if it is God's will that she carry this burden of sickness, I am grateful that He has put it in her heart to use her God given abilities to help the rest of us.

This book is the first book that I recommend to anyone interested in learning about the Catholic faith. I use it myself as a Catholic and I have recommended it to non-Catholics, those interested in becoming Catholic, or Catholics who just want to know their faith better. It contains sound doctrine. Nothing modernistic or liberal, just the truth of the faith and what a true Catholic must know and believe. It is an incredible resource and wealth of the true faith. Every Catholic home should have this and every Catholic should read it to strengthen their faith.

Every person that I have recommended this book to has treasured it.

I learned of this book from a friend who was getting nstructions in the Catholic Faith. He told me about the book and said it answered all of his questions. He said he now understands what Cathoics believe and he believes, too! He said this book is a "treasure" which is true. I recommend it to anyone who wants to know about the Catholic Faith. It is easy to read and has wonderful illustrations.

MY CATHOLIC FAITH is really just about the best Catholic Catechism I've ever seen. It is thorough and comprehensive and - thank God - 100% Orthodox. It's only drawback is that some of it is "dated" information, i.e. the National Catholic Welfare Conference has been replaced by the USCCB, etc. But these are miniscule issues. If you want to learn the Catholic Faith accurately yourself, or teach it unadulterated to your children, MY CATHOLIC FAITH is the book to use. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

A beautiful catechism written by Bishop Louis Morrow in the 1950s. My Catholic Faith: A Catechism in Pictures was a very popular catechism in the 1950s until the 1960s. A special Jubilee Commerative edition was published in 1961, 1963, and 1965.

In the Philippines, My Catholic Faith is being published again by Catholic Trade, Inc. It is divided into 3 separate volumes and sold individually for P 36 Pesos which is about more than $0.50 in US Dollars! Sadly, the edition they reprinted was the 1965 edition under the pontificate of Pope Paul VI. It contains Modernist and other innovations such as calling Mass, "The Last Supper" or concelebration of the Liturgy by several priests. I know this because I own the 1965 edition of My Catholic Faith.

My Catholic Faith, was republished by Sarto House according to the 1954 edition prior to the Modernist revision of Pope Paul VI in 1965. It teaches the Catholic Faith very dogmatically and truthfully.

Here is an excellent example:

An anullment is when the Catholic Church declares a marriage to be null after thorough investigation and the evidence have proven that in the very beginning there had been no marriage thus it was not valid.

Nowadays, Catholics confuse anullments with divorce. Most Catholics believe they can get an anullment like getting candy from a baby. Ted Kennedy, a notorious liberal Catholic scandalizer had his 38 years of marriage "annulled" and is now married to a young woman about half his age.

I tell you this... This is an excellent catechism. It is even better than the Baltimore Catechism. It contains no Modernism or Americanism heresy teachings.

This catechism talks about everything---such as:

1. The [Tridentine] Latin Mass of the Roman Rite (prior to its simplication and revision in 1965 by Pope Paul VI and the reforms of the Second Vatican Council that preceeded the 1970 Novus Ordo Missae). It explains why Latin is used to celebrate Mass and why not the vernacular.

2. The role and organization of the Holy Office and Roman Curia* (prior to its reorganization in 1967 by Cardinal Jean Villot, the Vatican Secretary of State with the approval of Paul VI).

3. The Initiating Rank of the Priesthood---the ranks of the Minor Orders and Major Orders (prior to the abolition of the Minor Orders and radical reform of the priesthood by Pope Paul VI).

3. The Dogma of No Salvation Outside the Church.

4. Distinction between Venial Sin and Mortal Sin as well as Sacrilege.

5. The definitions of Heresy and Schism including the invalidity of the the Anglican or Episocopalian holy orders for bishops and priests according to the 1547 Edwardine Ordinal.

6. Differences between the Eastern (Uniate) Catholic Church and the heretical schismatic Eastern Orthodox churches.

7. The liturgical setting, background, and consecration of a Catholic altar according to the Roman Rite prior to the New Rite used in 1969 under Paul VI.

You'll never forget about learning about your Catholic Faith. If you have family, this is a wonderful catechism to instruct your children. If you have a friend or family member that has apostasized or was never born a Catholic, here is the best catechism to instruct and convert them with.

Many people think that the Catholic Faith is hard to follow, but in reality it is that simple to follow out of obedience and love for Our Lord.

Books usually are. This is the one to get--if you're interested in The Ed Wood Story.
I read bits and pieces of Wood's prose on the internet--and the funny thing is, or maybe I should say the INTERESTING thing is, he was far better at writing prose, than he was at writing movie dialogue and directing.
The problem with Eddie's paperbacks is that the guy was so damn obsessed with crossdressing. Why? Why couldn't he stay away from it for a while, at least long enough to write a paperback or two or three (even) without having the male lead dress up in a bra and angora sweater?
Sheesh. Stuff gets old after a while.
It's easy enough to relate to him for wanting to do something in the creative realm (as a filmmaker, etc.), and not be able to pull it off.. I mean, whose heart doesn't go out to him for that? Better yet, to anyone? Who couldn't get that?--other than the typical businessman who is solely focused on the bottom line, making a profit?

Anyway, this book has the whole story. It's a sad tale--with a downer of an ending. What can you do? The cards had been dealt--and poor Eddie's hand did not show much promise.

And the biggest BUMMER OF ALL is that people out there are making tons of money off this guy's hard work and sweat!
Justice? What's that?

This is a labor of love, taking ten years and many interviews, as well as research, to give us the best hope we'll ever have of getting an understanding of maverick Ed Wood.

The structure is mostly clips from interviews, letters, and some of Wood's works, mostly interviewes. Thus one gets a sense of Ed Wood that in no way tries to be objective - instead it's about people who knew him, and their statements stand on their own (even when they conflict). There is actual research done as well - filmographies, book summaries, a small history - but most of the book is interviews.

The style however actually works - someone like Ed Wood may not always leave a very good trail. In addition, being very much a unique person in the unique culture of bargain-basement hollywood, personal testimony is just about the only way to have a hope to comprehend his stories.

The result is a fascinating, personal, and respectful book on a surprisingly complex man. Don't expect any punches pulled either - Ed Wood for all his likeability and charm (which he had in spades), was an occasional conman, and as his life degenerated, he fell into alchoholism, poverty, and domestic violence. Do expect a very personal portrait.

This book is an absolute must for any fan of Wood, B-movies, and the underside of Hollywood. As I write this it is out of print, but I gladly shelled out the money for a used copy. May it return to press soon - but you owe it yourself to get it.

Rudolph Grey has interviewed many of the people who knew and worked with Edward D. Wood Jr, and the entire book is compiled of quotes from these people. This non-narrative style may at first seem boring, but it's not. It is fascinating and touching, sometimes funny and tragic and gives a good understanding of several aspects of Ed Wood.

It also contains many pictures and a detailed list of Wood's films and books, including plot descriptions. This definately is a must-have for everybody who is interested in Ed Wood or old Hollywood independent films in general.

I first heard of Edward Wood Jr, the so-called 'Worst Director of All Time', when the Tim Burton film "Ed Wood" was released in 1995. Although the film is excellent, it does paint quite a rosy picture of Wood's life. The story in this book is much grimmer.

The book itself is a collection of interviews with the people who knew and worked with Ed Wood, copiously illustrated with black and white photographs, and covers his life and career. There are many entertaining stories here, covering the making of such films as "Glen or Glenda", "Bride of the Monster" and "Plan 9 From Outer Space", and the reader encounters a wide variety of eccentrics, losers and dreamers, who Wood met living on the fringes of Hollywood.

Sometimes the recollections of interviewees contradict each other, but that is memory. Grey doesn't give his own opinions on the interviewees and their remembrances but wisely stays outside and avoids judgement. The book is a fairly comprehensive account of Wood's life, but it is let down by mispellings, and often the phots are quite hard to see. It is however a must for anyone interested in Wood, 1950s "B" movies, or Hollywood.

Born in 1924, Wood was a highly decorated WWII Marine with an itch to wear women's clothes, make movies, and drink to excess. During his lifetime he would be notorious for transvestitism and alcoholism; he would also be involved in some twenty films, all of them cheaply made, all of them remarkable for their ludicrous incompetence. At the time of his 1978 death he was a raving drunk scratching out a living by writing pornography, and his film career was considered so trivial that not a single industry trade paper bothered to run an obituary.

But time does strange things. Within a few years of his death, Wood's films began to gain a cult-following, and in 1992 Rudolph Grey published NIGHTMARE OF ECSTASY, a loosely structured "oral history" of Wood's life as related by those who knew him best: his various wives and girl friends, his actors, his employers, his friends. The book would form the basis of Tim Burton's brilliant 1994 film ED WOOD.

Wood comes off as considerably less likeable here than in Tim Burton's bio-pic, which stopped short of detailing some of his more unsavory antics--including fraud, vicious alcoholism, the occasional fit of wife-beating, and his work in pornography. The Ed Wood of the 1950s might have been fun to know, at least so long as you didn't have any money in his ventures; the Ed Wood of the 1970s, however, was someone you would might have crossed the street to avoid.

Although a number of Wood's acquaintances led solid lives and attempted to help Wood as his life spiraled out of control, by and large Wood seems to have acted as a magnet for Hollywood hustlers, riff-raff, and trash--and before too long Wood himself became indicative of Los Angeles lowlife scene. While the interview subjects give conflicting accounts of specific events in Wood's life, the end result is the same: a tremendous sense of wasted effort, futile dreams, and unending pathos. This is some seriously bitter stuff.

NIGHTMARE OF ECSTASY concludes with a fairly solid chunk of factual data, including biographical notes on interview subjects, a chronology of major events in Wood's life, a bibliography that includes passages from Wood's novels, a comprehensive filmography--and even an annotated list of projects Wood was never able to get off the ground. I recommend the book, but I do so with a warning: if you're looking for a restatement of Tim Burton's film, you'll be significantly disillusioned.

Dr. Crane has written a wonderful how-to book for those of us who can get bogged down along the Cosmic Highway. Not everyone is instantly successful with the philosophies and techniques of the Nevilles and Joseph Murphies. Making it all work can be a little more complex than they and their followers let on in the success stories found in their books. Well, thanks to Dr. Crane's explanations, lights begin to come on and you start to "get it" a little more successfully, thereby no longer feeling like a spiritual dufus. The metaphor of "ordering from the cosmic kitchen" is great and right on the mark: We learn how to choose from our personal menus and (by golly) get what we ordered! This is a very worthy book. It's a great beginner book on this subject and a great helping hand for non-beginners when they find themselves a bit stuck and not knowing why.

This book is so easy to use and easy to read. It uses plain English to explain how to make your Cosmic Order, and also explains what you can do if the Cosmic Chef dishes up a slighly different recipe.
You can read this book in one day, and have your orders written up and sent off in the same day.
This works...be careful what you wish for!

Patricia has a rare and unique talent of taking abstract ideas and bringing them down to earth so that anyone can use them to get what they want. She illustrates her techniques in clear terms...leaving you with no room for doubt.

As you already know, and most probably heard at some point in your life, that what we feed our minds becomes our reality. We can convince ourselves practically anything with enough verbal repletion of affirmations.

However how many of us actually act upon this? How many of us use this awesome power? And even when we do use this powerful technique, are we using it correctly?

For example if you want to quit your job because you can't stand it anymore, you should not say "I want to quit my job", because that is focusing on the negative. Rather you should state. "I look forward to successfully securing myself a position at another firm, in a job that I love!"

It guides you step by step through the correct process of working with affirmations, getting into the right state of mind, creating your own, and then letting go and expecting the fulfillment of your order.

I really enjoyed this book and my only complaint is that it is too short. The author provides several affirmations and a framework for developing your own personal affirmations based upon what you want to accomplish. I finished the book 2 weeks ago and haven't had any earth shattering experiences, but I have felt a higher sense of well-being. Although the book can be finished quickly, it's format is such that you can pick it up later and find something useful. I wrote some of the affirmations on 3x5 cards that I use as bookmarks, just to remind me to stay positive.

I'm coming to the end of my undergraduate studies (in PHYSICS!) and I was looking for some insight into what graduate school would be like to to try and figure out if a PhD is in the cards for me. This book is easy to read and FULL of useful tips. However the overwhelming majority of these nuggets of gold come from past PhD students in the medical/biological sciences. This began to get really annoying. I was constantly having to decide which comments to take onboard and which to leave behind (because I thought they wouldn't apply to me). As a result, I probably have in my head a very distorted picture of what grad school will really be like.
The title is very descriptive, it's just missing one word, but I suppose if they added it sales would drop significantly.

This book should be required reading for anyone applying to gradutate school in the sciences (physical or biological). A quick read of the text will give one plenty to think about before making the big decision. The earlier you read it the better off you will be. The most important reading regards selecting an advisor. I am in the process of completing my degree and in hind sight agree with the issues on which the author has choosen to focus.

Graduate school in science is not an experiential extension of undergraduate education, where the passing of a sufficient number of courses usually guarantees one a degree; nor is it medical school or law school, where there is a delineated and set curriculum. Ph.D students are actually pretty much on their own--and they will sink or swim depending upon their own interpretation of how the system works.

The purpose of this book is to provide students with some insight into this unusual system. The authors--each a Ph.D. in the sciences--reveal the generally unspoken "rules" of the game. They offer the secrets of survival and success: What should you discuss in your application essay? What types of research advisors should you avoid? What kinds of research projects should you never undertake? How hard do you have to work? Are grades important? What steps should you take now to make yourself "employable" when you finish? There are many intellectual and emotional challenges inherent to becoming a scientist. This book prepares students for each stage of the experience. They will learn what to expect--socially, psychologically, and academically!

The PhD process is a great overview of graduate school in the sciences. It covers most basic topics such as choosing a type of school, applying, preliminary exams, comps, thesis work, etc. Of course each school does these things slightly differently, but the main points are there and the authors do a good job of pointing out where differences between programs are likely to turn up. This book also explains things that graduate programs aren't likely to advertise such as using students as `cheap labor' and what things to look for in an advisor other than interesting research. This is a fun to read honest book, and the anecdotes from current and past graduate students are the best part. I enjoyed reading them because so many of the same things have happened to me, and it's nice to know that I'm not alone.

I wouldn't say that I received any great insights from the book because I had some experience with academic labs before I applied to graduate school and had a pretty good idea of what I was getting into. I found it a little calming to read about others' experiences as I was waiting to get started. I think most students who apply to graduate school have already spent much time in labs with current graduate students so this might not be that useful to them as practical advise; however, I found this book to be an excellent resource for my parents. My parents had no idea what graduate school is like, and the fact that I'm at school all day and only go to class for an hour baffles them to no end. Reading this book helped them to understand the structure and goals of graduate school. Though I still don't think they understand journal club. (Why would anyone join that club? It doesn't sound like very much fun.)

I recommend this book to grad students for their parents or to undergraduates who aren't sure if graduate school is the right path for them. This book gives great insight into what graduate school is really like.

The book definitely unfold the whole map of graduate school life, especially for (biological) science students. Many aspects and stages of doing science research and how to survive in graduate school are covered. However, the lack of insightful guidence is the main drawback of the book. Pointint out possible obstacles does not necessarily makes gradute students' lives easier. The interviews from (past) graduate students do help readers build up confidence because it is comforting to know many people suffer as they do now, but at the same time few specific steps or directions are NOT distilled by the authors. It's like everyone just talks their experiences without any conclusions.

Michael D. O'Brien is a masterful storyteller. He has compiled a stunning series, Children of the Last Days, of which Plague Journal is the second. I am now just beyond half way through Eclipse of the Sun, the third. I have two more to go, and by then perhaps he will have written some more. While I'm reviewing his work, I'd like to applaud his latest work : Island of the World. That was a "watershed" book for me.There are not words to convey the power and authority which which he strings words together. It is compelling fiction. Any one choosing to read Michael D. O'Brien's work will be in for a major treat as well as learning experience.

Michael O'Brien has a tendency to overwrite his books (one of his very few flaws as a writer). But in Plague Journal, he reined himself in (or finally got an editor who did) and the result is a book that is no less packed with plot tension, cultural criticism, and character development than his other tomes.

The middle book of a trilogy of books about the Delaney family (starting with Strangers and Sojourners and ending with Eclipse of the Sun), Plague Journal also fits within O'Brien's larger series, which he calls Children of the Last Days. The first of those is the explosive novel Father Elijah.

While Plague Journal is my personal favorite. I recommend reading it after Father Elijah and Strangers and Sojourners, since it needs the other two to provide its context in O'Brien's view of the Last Days.

And O'Brien's view is a bleak one. The government has become the tool of the antichrist, whether it knows it or not, and an honest journalist (even one who doesn't have a living faith in God) can't get an honest shake, but is hunted down.

Swift, sharp, and poigniant, O'Brien provides his readers with everything that Left Behind readers should have gotten but didn't and without all of the silly speculations. This is good literature that shapes the heart and the mind Christianly.

Michael D. O'Brien's novels are among the best I have ever read. Plague Journal is the (chronologically speaking) 2nd book in the Children of the Last Days series. Which should be read: 1. Strangers and Sojourners, 2. Plague Journal, 3. Eclipse of the Sun, and the other 3 in any order (although I'd personally read Father Elijah 4th, Sophia House 5th, and A Cry of Stone last--which is the least connected to the other books). They are deep and thought provoking books, and will make you look at the current trends in society in a whole new light. Although there is an element of action/adventure in this story, it is by no means mindless entertainment. The action/adventure element is always secondary to the philosophical/spiritual element that we see and partake of in the lives and thoughts of the characters; in much the same way as the murder/mystery element in Crime and Punishment is secondary to the philosophical/spiritual element.
I've grown up a Protestant, but these books (along with other influences) have made me take a good hard look at Catholicism. I'd say I'm 9 tenths converted--and almost ready to take that last step. But whatever your religion, denomination, or lack thereof, do yourself a favor and read these books.

O'Brien's "Children of the Last Days" series shows what the apocalypse might be like through Catholic eyes. "Plague Journal" shows what an average man would go through when he sees the very land he loves slowly but surely choke off all joy and life in the name of an efficient government. The main character's actions and thoughts make you slow down and wonder what you'd do. Also, not all the characters automatically do the right thing. Each of their actions has a consequence, whether good or bad, and they have to put up with those consequences, which is more realistic. There's no flashy deux ex machina, but God works through the characters in a way that's somehow more majestic than simply suspending laws of nature to make sure the good guy wins. I highly recommend this book no matter what religion you follow. You will laugh, cry, and think.

As I'm sure most reviewers have said, be sure you read Strangers and Sojourners first; PJ is the second in the series. Also, it is good to read Father Elijah too; it occurs about the same time as PJ.

I read PJ in a week. It is one of the most moving books I've read, but I was reluctant to heed its message in the beginning. In this world of half-truths and deceptions where everyone is a partially educated philosopher and politician, PJ really does show the need to not believe everything we heard or read.

Should we be constantly paranoid? Not really. But a healthy skepticism is necessary.

Red Zone Management is based on a football analogy for the last 20 yards that lead to a touchdown. This is make it or break it time for a team. According to the author, Dutch Holland, businesses are increasingly facing their own red zones. For a business what constitutes are red zone? It is activities that can lead to extraordinary profit or loss. These situations fall outside the scope of daily business management. Here is a list of red zone situations:

If your company is in the red zone or will be in one soon this book can tip the scales in your favor to succeed in the red zone.

This book was a gritty, involving book about the civil war. I only found this and the first one by going to Gettysburg book shops. It's a shame because Ms. Carey, they are AMAZING books. If anyone reading this review is interested in any small way in American history, you will find these books difficult to put down. If Ms. Carey even has a rough manuscript of the third, I'd pay $20 to see even that! Please write it?!?!

I have read both this book and the first in the series and LOVE them. I have re-read them many times and have been looking for the third installment since I was in high school. It is very disappointing to find out that it was never published. Diane, PLEASE finish writing the series! It makes me sad to know those characters are languishing without the resolution of the plot.

I just finished Distant Drums and Rise Defiant and can't find Hail Nation. I'm hooked and want to know the ending. I own a used book store with thousands of books and I couldn't believe the third book has not been published. Help, somebody please publish this book.

I lied...I haven't read the book. However, I HAVE been in touch with Diane Carey, and she says that the publisher made the decision to abandon the trilogy due to some unrelated internal problems. She expressed that same disappointment that you all seem to; the series was very special to her. Count yourselves among the fortunate to have read the first two installments...I can't find them anywhere, despite my determination. In the meantime, Diane Carey also writes prolificly in the Star Trek genre. I imagine the very idea would put some people off, but I encourage you to give her Star Trek novels a try, particularly "First Frontier" and "The Great Starship Race". She is a genius with action sequences, and an emotional maestro. I doubt that anyone would be disappointed, and if you are a Star Trek fan, you will be overjoyed.

The intended audience for this book is the seasoned and open minded UNIX SA who has a smattering of understanding the Microsoft way of doing network based file sharing. The book dives right into detailed real world configurations that can be deployed right away. This book proudly sits in my library as one of the most utilitarian pieces of technical literature I own.

It is a very well organized book, usable as a reference. However, the lates version of Samba are not cover: a kind of "release notes" would be nice.

A superb book that covers all aspects of samba Config. My only critisism is that it is somewhat out of date (latest Ver 2.05) but that is OK as the principles havent changed much. Combined with the info on the samba site this book is the bible of samba, a must have.

I do UNIX system administration for my company and I bought this book hoping it would help me offer UNIX printing services to our Windows 95/98 PCs. It was a waste of money. While this book is not terrible, neither is it for everyone. If you do not have a good knowledge of Microsoft networking concepts such as Master Browsers, this book will be as useless to you as it was to me. The explanations of Microsoft networking concepts so ineegral to Samba are very poor in this book. The author basically assumes that you know as much about Windows networking as he does. Example configs are poor and good luck trying to debug any problems you might have. If you don't know what a Domain Master Browser is, you would better off to do what I did and get the new O'Reilly and Associates book _Using Samba_ which does a much better job of explaining everything you need to know to make Samba work.

Samba in a cinch. You pick up this book and within an hour you can have Samba running. There is really nothing to it. John Blair is a member of the Samba team, so he REALLY knows his stuff. He's also a remarkably good technical writer.

Have to setup Samba in a hurry? Overnight this book. The day you get it, flip through it for 10 minutes. Update the SMB.CONF file a bit. You're done - inside an hour - no question.

If you want to get fancy, this book covers that too. I haven't yet seen anything that wasn't in this book. In fact, I've found stuff that was in this book that I couldn't find ANYWHERE else.

Excellent book. Great to learn Samba. Great reference to keep handy afterward. Truly excellent book!

Can there be any truth to the concepts expressed in this book originaly published in the early 1900"s? I read it a while back and still find myself thinking about the alternative theories expressed in the book ... and recycled in a thousand and one personal motivation books since.

Don't be fooled, this book is difficult to read and comprehend. However, for those willing to tread the waters of early 1900s writing styles, the message in this book is wonderful and can potentially change your life.

If you are interested in the money aspect of the law of attraction, you may also want to read "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill and "The 17 Principles of Creating Wealth" by Phillip Collinsworth.

Wattles' philosopy is New Thought, popular at the turn of the 19th century. It is really just wishful thinking or magical thinking. It doesn't work. Just because you think something doesn't make it come true, and you should be glad, because some people think very unpleasant things. You aren't Harry Potter, and magical thinking won't get you what you want in life. As for Monism or the theory that God is in everything, that would mean that God also exists in evil things, which would mean that God is not all good, so Monism cannot be true. This is just an early self-help book that seeks to empower people who feel powerless by telling them they can get anything they want if they just think about it hard enough and long enough. It's a waste of your time. Wattles wrote the same thing about health, and he died at about age 51. If he had lived to be 100 in good health and been a multimillionaire himself, he theories would be more credible. In fact, one of the people Wattles criticized as being "competitive", John D. Rockefeller, did live to be 98 and was a multmillionaire, so who are you going to believe?

This book if followed exactly how written can change your life forever with huge positive results. I suggest reading with a very open mind.

The "Thinking Stuff" which Wallace Wattles declares, permeates the universe really caught my attention. The noted theologian, Emanuel Swedenborg refers to this "Thinking Stuff" as the Divine Wisdom in the book Divine Love and Wisdom, (published in Amsterdam in 1763).

I agree with the premise of Wattles book and as I reflect upon my life I can see where the Lord has indeed blessed me in ways I had desired.
