The author provides the practical tips you will need to get to London. Excellent information that prepares you for the really super part of this book, the 14 three-day suggested walking itineraries. These are broken into chronological, geographic and special interest tours, i.e., basic London, art lover's, royal, shopper's London and one of the author's favorite three days. Each daily itinerary comes complete with map, schedule, admission information for the sites, and suggestions for lunch, dinner and evening entertainment. In addition, you have the flexibility of choosing a combination of days from different tours, i.e., one basic, one literary and one shopper's to design your own special three days of exploring London at your own pace. A great guide for planning a grand trip to London!

This book takes the reader through how the areas around Russia have recentered themselves since the fall of the Soviet Union. While many of these countries may have wanted to reflect independence the CIS has been essential for them to maintain a semblance of trade. The disequilibrium in International relations is explored around the world by a variety of authors and Smolanksy expertly puts together an interesting book. It is very well written and is well worth the read for those looking to start out in international relations and want to see how world diplomacy is changing.

Smell the Honeysuckle

This is a marvelous collection of stories by Stephen March, and almost all of them have been recognized by publication in literary journals. But the critical acclaim aside, these stories have no aspirations except to let you smell the honeysuckle and hear them rack up the balls in the poolhall. You can find an excuse to laugh and a reason to weep. Stephen March catches the dialogue of real people so vividly that you feel like you've just walked in off a hot country road and stepped into a conversation at a one-pump country store. You can even hear the screen door slam.

the book is the granddaddy of all independent guides to movie making.writen at a time when few people in the business were willing to share industry "secrets", it was part of courses taught at Georgetown University and private seminars given by the author an industry veteran (distributor/producer/screenwriter).

"Making Poor Nations Rich" is a very good book. It consists of three main parts. The first part deals with institutions and entrepreneurship. The second part is about the importance of constrained entrepreneurship on economic development in Africa, Latin America, Scandinavia, and the transitional economies of the former USSR. The final part stresses the benefit of the reforms underlying the growth spurt in entrepreneurship in China and the Republic of Ireland, and the difficulties that challenge entrepreneurship in India, New Zealand, and Botswana.
If pressed to rank the sections of the book in descending order of their strengths, I would say: Foreword, Introduction, Part 1, Part 3, and Part 2. However, such an ordering is too subjective for a great book like this one. I give it 5-stars.

Delightful Survey of Anti-capitalist "economics"

Review Date: 2004-07-08
This book is intended for a reader with a working knowledge of economics. While not integral, mathematics is used, and a variety of references are made to economic theories, differing schools of thought, and information from previous articles. All of which is assumed to be known already. Having said that, this is an enjoyable read that will show you the "hot spots" in current economic debate. Highly informative and packed with powerful ideas on both sides, including those of a nobel prize winner Joseph Stiglitz, these ideas cannot be ignored. The details of the argument are too indepth to recant here, but I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book to anyone that is interested in economics. In summary of the book, the market process will find a way to transmit the information that Stiglitz conjectures will bring down capitalism. Unfortunately for Stiglitz, the Volkswirtschaft of his dreams does not have a leg to stand on after the brilliant rebuttals of the many authors.
Cowen and Crampton have compiled sixteen articles discussing comtemporary market failure theories. After an excellent introduction that captures the nature and spirit of the book, there are four articles purporting theories of market failure. Following this are rebuttables by theoretical, empirical, and experimental processes.
Excellent for use in a college class or for personal enrichment!

Great article in CHIEF EXECUTIVE Magazine about how a partnership was formed between a U.S. Company and a Russian entrepreneur to introduce a line of U.S. cosmetics to the newly formed Republic of Russia just after the breakup of the Soviet Union. Worthwhile reading on how to develop these kinds of relationships and alliances.

If you're looking for a sweet, marriage-at-the-end-of-the-book book, forget this one. It's a very progressive thinking book, even for today's standards--and this was written in 1995. The plot is different and the surprise when the unexpected happens is hilarious. It's a funny, witty book with a unique twist. Miss Ellie would truly fit into today's society without the blink of a purple eyelid!

I have not yet read this book, but had the author, Roger Dillow, as an advisor in high school 20 years ago. He was inspirational. I found this web page because I googled Roger to contact him after one of those moments of reflection when you recognize the great impact someone has had on your life. Roger made a critical difference in the lives of many of us through his mentorship, role modeling, and constant encouragement for questioning ourselves and those around us. He knew how to reach advanced kids who didn't think they needed additional advising as well as those students who were falling through the cracks thinking they were clever enough to fall without notice, both particularly prevalent in our private school. So, although I cannot comment on the specific text, I can attest to his practice of advising being 5-stars--and he's got 20 more years of experience!
