Maine Books

These fold out bird guides are great bec you can spill juice or coffee or soda on them and just wipe them off, and they don't get torn up in purses, backpacks, etc. They also don't take up much space. They aren't really paperbacks -they are laminated fold outs.

What can I say? This is a great collection of Maine Coon Cats, in various cute poses. The photography is excellent, very sharp and full of nicely saturated colors. A nice celebration of that quintessentially American breed of cat: Fluffy, smart and slightly savage!

This is the perfect Maine Coon calendar! My cat and I both love it!

The photos in the calendar are beautiful. Anyone who enjoys cats will love the monthly depictions from kitten to cat and back again.
I definitely reccomend this for a year of delightful viewing.

This book is tribute to the love of the land - land that was owned and culivated by the Nearings (The Good Life). It shows in pictures the beauty of the Maine coast land, and what honest labor can bring. It also documents local culture and custom to give a flavor for the year-round life in a harsh winter and short but intense summer.

DeLorme has come out with a great new publication that is a must have for serious anglers. The 215 page, loose-ring book contains more than 1,700 fishing depth maps of Maine lakes and ponds by counties. There is also stocking information, fish species of each body of water, and location coordinates. This book is long overdue, and is remarkably priced. In fact, if you bought all of these maps from the Fish and Wildlife folks, one map at a time, the price would be prohibitive

This is an engaging and entertaining survey of the golf courses in Maine. As with any subjective gathering, there are bound to be differences of opinion, but for anyone interested in Maine golf, this is required reading. Also check out their review of golf courses in New Hampshire, which is equally useful.

In it's fifty years of existence the Farnsworth Art Museum has focused on acquiring a collection of art that represents the history of art and artists in Maine. This 256 page book is an excellent survery of their holdings from the early paintings of J Jonathan Fisher to the realist paintings of Neil Welliver.

There is a one page review of each of 84 artists followed by one to three color plates of their works held by the Farnsworth. The biographical sketch of each artist is concise and accurately describes how the artist fits into not only art in Maine but art in America from the 18th century to the present.

I love Maine art and I thoroughly enjoyed this book and learned a lot from it.
