Snapshot is a novel that concentrates deeply on the ups and downs of relationships. Deciding "whether love is picture perfect" or not is easily disclosed as the author unfurls several stories of love, hate, insecurity, jealousy and deception. Although the author highlights the title well into the story line, character development is quite perplexing. It is very difficult to grasp the true nature of each chararcter secondary to a host of conflicts and contradictions. J. Jermayne's uncomplicated writing style enervates the readers making the 246 page novel a slow read.

This is a really good book and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Also, if you like comedy books this would be a fine book to read. One part that made me laugh is when Alex lies about the kitty fritters. Alex is the main character in the book. He is known for lying. So if you like books with people lying in it, this is a good book for you.

As a recreational hockey player and avid hockey fan by night and publications editor by day, I found this book to be boring and over the top. His anecdotes about NHL enforcers are sanitized to a "Family Channel"- level style of writing, about as pointless and meaningless as an Eminem CD edited for Christian radio stations. In keeping with the Mighty Ducks/Disney/Mickey Mouse squeaky-clean environment he works in, his words, even his direct quotes, are cleansed, leaving only adjectives along the lines of "making comments about my ancestors" as a euphemism for swearing, a phrase only my own ancestors used. If you can't talk the talk, Lloyd, then write the scripts for the MVP sequels.
Readers, buy the book "Goon" instead for real-life hockey experiences told as they happenend - blood, guts, and all.

Have you ever wondered what it's like to sit in the "sin bin" with the players?? Have you ever wondered what they say to each other and to the officials?? This book gets you into the sin bin without threatening your life. Lloyd Freeberg is an off-ice official. He has spent time in the penalty box with the likes of Bob Probert, Kris Draper and even Wayne Gretzky. There is even a chapter on some weird superstitions of hockey players. Read about his most embarrassing moment as an official, and his most dangerous times in the penalty box. For Red Wing fans- there's a chapter on Kris Draper and one on Bob Probert (former Wing). Everything from smuggling pucks to kicking the bucket where the pucks are kept to throwing chairs to insults is in this book--from first hand experience. I kept wanting to share everything I read with my family, and the book kept me laughing and wanting more. If your one of those fans who loves the fights and/or wonders what is said in the penalty boxes, this book is for you.

My boyfriend bought this book for himself and after hearing him laugh to the point of tears every time he opened it up, I decided to have a look. Freeberg painted a picture of hockey I had never really thought existed: a picture of real people and their lives and antics and mess ups and fall downs.... I am really glad I picked it up, I kinda have a different view of the game and it's participants now. Highly reccomended!

What can I say about this book. At first, I thought it was a good book. As I read on, I began to accept the fact that it was a very good book. By the time I finished, I had come to the conclusion that In the Bin is one of the greatest books to cover any sport, not just hockey. Just a truly amazing look at a few different angles of the game that we don't get to see very often.

Lloyd Freeberg's writing style has more moves than a Mario Lemieux breakaway. I was constantly being amuzed at the different stories he told, he has a great sence of humor and timing. Though the accompaning pictures are in black & white, they are superb. The variety of things Freeberg writes about caught me off gaurd. I thought that the book would focus only on penalty box incidents dealing primarily with goons from around the league. I was pleasantly suprised when I began reading about mascots, superstars, zambonis, goal judges, fans, referees and even arenas. The diversity was not only entertaining, but enlightening as well.

With stories of all types constructed with skill similar to that of Paul Kariya's stick handling, In the Bin delivers as much excitement as an overtime playoff goal. I loved every word of this book and I wouldn't hesitate to read another book by Freeberg, nor will I hesitate to suggest this book to anyone.

I have always thought that there is a piece of ADHD in everyone. Some people has a bigger piece, some people has a tiny piece. How can anyone be so "perfect"? My children are not "scientifically" diagnosed to be ADHD. But there are times when they can be showing bits of "symtoms" of ADHD.
I was in tears when I read about what happened to young Jonathan and young David. It must have been hard for them and their parents.
Everyone should read this book.
Parts of this book are going to help you with raising your own child since, like I said, everyone has bits of ADHD, and you just never know when anything in this book would come in handy.
Plus, we should also try to UNDERSTAND why some other children are doing what they have done. They are not ill and they are not stupid. It is just that they cannot walk within the lines like everyone else. Yet they CAN still learn and bloom, only that, just like the title of the book, they need to do it "outside the lines".

I had leafed through this book one day in the library and it looked interesting. So, I bought one and I keep it with me always! I use it like a reference book. I found the chapters on reading and writing for people with learning disabilities the best. Once I started using the techniques, I saved my semester and my Grad School career! I was on academic probation and had to pass all classes (I'd gotten an "F") before. When I came back to try Grad school again, I had two "D's" at mid terms my first semester back! I read the book from cover to cover and kept it with me after that. I went from two "D's", a "B", and an "A" to two "A's", a "A-", and a "B" over the next six weeks. By the time finals came I was in the clear. The next semester I got straight "A's" for the first time in my life! All using techniques from this book! You have to get it. If you have ADHD or another learning disability like I do, it will help for sure!

I purchased this book because I have ADHD, I am in college and I am struggling some with test performance and grades (GPA is 3.65 but I want to increase it). I found *nothing* about what I was searching for in this book, and here's why.

For one, the first part "deviant minds", the one telling the school story of the two authors, is no use whatsoever, because it constantly blames the system (which doesn't work for ADHDers, true, but DOES work for 85% of people --- and they omit reporting this essential data). On top of it, the two stories are about how the entire world should be preoccupied with accommodating LD/ADHD kids as if nothing else mattered. Furthermore, the whole take on non-LD/ADHD people's feelings and behaviours (especially teachers) is *very* confrontational and displays an overall (and well-known) lack of empathy that many ADHDers have toward whoever doesn't have either LD or ADHD. As I also am a significant other of people with ADHD (my mom, a coworker, some other friends), I found it *appalling* to see how the strains that ADHD puts on relationships are completely overlooked when not entirely blamed on others, abuse included.

A second reason I don't suggest this book is, it's full of useless advices, such as "when the teacher says the word example it means he is about to give you an example" (I have ADHD, I'm not *dumb*!!!), "make summaries" (I know I'm supposed to summarize but the ADHD-related difficulties with summarizing are *precisely* linked to the fact that we see ALL the endless ways to do it... how about providing strategies to sort out which way works best in a specific contest???), "structure your answer" (yeah, how clever! That's what I've been told since grammar school... care to provide a template or at least explain *how* to do it??). When conflicting advices are given (like in the case of multiple ways of taking notes), there is no explanation on how to figure out which way might work best for the individual and/or the specific situation. They only say "do what's best for you", again, yeah right I've been trying to figure that one out for my whole life -- care to help some for 15 dollars?

A third reason I found this book useless is that it gives you no strategy for memorization... so if you are in medical school (like me), law school, are becoming a pharmacist or a vet or simply are facing an exam that isn't some dumb English Literature or Writing class, you can safely skip this book and buy *any* other available one.

Finally, having ADHD is about overcoming one's shortcomings, whereas the authors try to teach you how to cheat the system. In the specific, they teach you several tricks to pretend that you've studied something well enough that you manage to get higher grades. However, what I was trying to do was, getting higher grades as a consequence of having *really* learnt something!!!

In other words, unless all you are a victim and all you're interested into is cheating the system and never *really* face the challenges that comes with ADHD, run away, it's not for you.

A fun, well-written look into the geeky but hypnotic world of fantasy baseball

Review Date: 2008-06-25
Sam Walker traces the origins of the game, profiles the super geeks who advise the rest of us, and gives insight into playing in the most competitive fantasy baseball league. The one downer, I think, is that Walker emptied his bank account to have a staff of two full timers, an actress/temptress and a psychic. It makes for good reading, but to me, not as interesteing as if he would have went it alone or with advice from buddies. His moments with the players themselves are excellent, and I walked away from this book with a few new favorite big leaguers, for many different reasons.

I'd highly recommend this book to anyone who plays fantasy baseball or is just curious as to why those who play it are so fanatical about it.

If you are an avid Fantasy Baseball fan, this is an absolute must read. This book is to Fantasy Baseball, what 1776 is to American History. Sam Walker is the David McCullough of Fantasy Baseball. The only reason people like this book is because they play fantasy sports and its the only (or close to only) popular book about fantasy sports. On its own, its quite boring and adds nothing at all to fantasy sports. C'mon, if this book were about horse racing, it would be a stinker. Stop stroking your own egos. Hopefully we will get something worth reading, but for now, I'll stick to the so-call experts' excerpts about their fantasy seasons. Try than and you will save many hours. But if you play fantasy sports, and you get a kick of knowing some guy drafted your guy and wrote that in a book, than this one is for you.

A Good History of Roto, Slightly Odd Current View
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2007-11-03
Fantasyland provides an excellent review of the history of rotisserie baseball that has developed into an entire industry. This is much more than a retelling of the commonly cited story about a few baseball fans developing a game at the Rotisserie restaurant in New York. The narrative is breezy and a quick read. I would buy the book for this back story alone.

The odd way Sam Walker goes about trying to win a well-known fantasy baseball league has some significant holes. Hiring a rocket scientist(literally) to crunch numbers and a self-proclaimed baseball talent evaluator is a clever idea, but its never clear why these two guys are remotely qualified to help. The passages describing other gurus in fantasy baseball, many of whom are well-known to avid roto players, is interesting in pointing out the ranks of experts are filled similarly with people of questionable talent.

Together, the book is worthwhile, but it does not necessarily prove there any secret to the fantasy baseball world. Instead, it does a nice job of revealing how a game has become an obsession to so many.

Treading on sore toes?
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2008-01-15
The professional historians faint as prominent mathematician Doctor Fomenko et al research the known historical data and come to fairly controversial conclusions.

For example, the English historians rage at the suggestion that the history of Ancient England was de facto a Byzantine import transplanted to the English soil by the fugitive Byzantine nobility. As the sign of recognition of the special role of the English historians who consider themselves the true scribes of World History, the cover of the present book portrays Tintoretto's Jesus Christ crucified on the Big Ben.

The Russian historians brand it as pseudoscience because Dr Fomenko asserts that there was no such thing as the Tartar and Mongol invasion followed by over two centuries of slavery, providing a formidable body of documental evidence to prove his assertion. The so-called `Tartars and Mongols' were the actual ancestors of the modern Russians, living in a trilingual state and aspiring Global Empire with Arabic and Turkic spoken as freely as Russian.

The ancient proto-Russian state was governed by a double structure of civil and military authorities and the hordes were actually professional armies with a tradition of lifelong conscription (the recruitment being the so-called `blood tax'). Their `invasions' were punitive operations against the regions that attempted tax evasion.

Fomenko proves for a fact that official Russian history is a blatant forgery concocted by a host of German scholars brought to Russia by the usurper dynasty of the Romanovs. Their ascension to the throne was the result of conspiracy, so they charged these German historians-imports with the noble mission of making Romanov's reign look legitimate.

Dr Fomenko et al prove Ivan the Terrible to be a collation of four rulers, no less. These rulers represented the two rival dynasties - the legitimate Godounovs and the ambitious Romanov upstarts.

The European historians fume not only because Fomenko blows consensual Russian history to smithereens, successfully removing a crucial cornerstone from underneath the otherwise impeccable edifice of World History but for asserting that all medieval European Kings and Princes were but breakaway vice-regents and vassals of the Global Empire who badly needed glorious and very `ancient' past in order to legitimize their new independence from the Empire.

Dr Fomenko adds insult to injury, wiping out one by one: the Ancient Rome: the foundation of Rome in Italy is dated to the 14th century A. D., the Ancient Greece and its numerous poleis, which he identifies as the mediaeval crusader settlements on the territory of Greece, the Ancient Egypt: the pyramids of Giza become dated to the 11th to 14th century A. D. and identified as the royal cemetery of the Global Empire, no less.

The civilization of the `ancient'' Egypt is irrefutably dated to the 11th to 15th century A. D. following the breakthrough in decoding of the ancient Egyptian horoscopes cut in stone and painted on the temple walls.

Arabic historians may find some consolation in the crucial historical role of the Ottoman Empire as a part of the Global empire in the 15th - 17th century. The trouble is that this Empire was initially a proto-Christian state, with Hagia Sophia identifiable as Temple of Solomon, but built in 1550-1557 A.D. by Sultan Suleiman according to Fomenko and Islam with all its key figures is datable to 15th 16th century A. D.!

The Chinese historians are also an unhappy lot because Fomenko wipes out the Ancient History of China outright. No such history. Period. The compilation of the so-called Ancient Chinese History is reliably datable to the 17th 18th century only. It is perfectly recognizable as the Ancient European history, reworked and transcribed in hieroglyphs as yet another historical transplantation.

The Divinity excommunicates Dr Fomenko because the history of religions according to Fomenko looks as follows: the pre-Christian period (before the 11th century and Jesus Christ ), Bacchic Christianity (11th to 12th century, before and after Jesus Christ), Jesus Christ Christianity (12th to 14th century) and its subsequent mutations (15th to 17th cy) into Orthodox Christianity, the Catholicism, Protestantism, Islam, Buddhism, and so on..; and The Old Testament written after the New Testament in xiv-xvi cy A.D., if you please! Everybody served? Saint Augustine was quite prescient when he said: "be wary of mathematicians, particularly when they speak the truth."

There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.

For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.

Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.

Has history been tampered with?

Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/RAZQNMXM4M9CL Has history been tampered with? Yes, it has! Did events and eras such as the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, the Roman Empire , the Dark Ages, and the Renaissance, actually occur within a very different chronology from what we've been told? Yes, they certainly did!

The history of humankind is both drastically shorter and dramatically different than generally presumed.

Why is it so? On one hand, it was usual custom to justify the claims to title and land by age and ancestry, and on the other the court historians knew only too well how to please their masters. The so called universal classic world history is a pack of intricate lies for all events prior to the 16th century. World history as we learn it today was entirely fabricated in the 16th-18th centuries. It's likely that nobody told you before, but

there is not a single piece of firm written evidence or artefact that is reliably and independently dated prior to the 11th century.

Naturally, after what you've learned in school and university, you will not easily believe that the classical history of ancient Rome, Greece, Asia, Egypt, China, Japan, India, etc., is manifestly false.

You will point accusing finger to the pyramids in Egypt, to the Coliseum in Rome and Great Wall of China etc., and claim, aren't they really ancient, thousands of years ancient? Well, there is no valid scientific proof that they are older than 1000 years!

The oldest original written document that can be reliably dated belongs to the 11th century!

New research asserts that Homo sapiens invented writing (including hieroglyphics) only 1000 years ago. Once invented, writing skills were immediately and irreversibly put to the use of ruling powers and science.

The consensual chronology we live with was essentially crafted in the 16th century by the Jesuits.

The world history was compiled from contradictory mix of innumerable copies of ancient Latin and Greek manuscripts and other irrefutable proofs delivered by late mediaeval astronomers that were cemented by the authority of writings of the Church Fathers.

Early in life, we learn about ancient history. Children love the magical lessons of history - they are like fairy tales. Teachers recite breathtaking stories; very soon We learn by heart the names and deeds of brave warriors, wise philosophers, fabulous pharaohs, cunning high priests and greedy scribes.

We learn of gigantic pyramids and sinister castles, kings and queens, dukes and barons, powerful heroes and beautiful ladies, emaciated saints and low-life traitors.

Ancient history is based documents, manuscripts, printed books, paintings, monuments and artefacts - called primary sources.

The problem is that neither these ancient documents, nor events described therein can be irrefutably dated, moreover they contradict each other for the most part.

When a school textbook tells us that Genghis Khan in year X or Alexander in year Y, have each conquered half of the world, it means only that it is so said in some of the written sources.

There are no answers to simple questions:

When were these primary sources written?

Where and by whom were these sources found?

It is wrongly presumed that ancient and medieval chronicles, written by Genghis Khan's or Alexander the Great contemporaries and eyewitnesses, are readily available. Actually, only sources written hundreds or even thousands of years after the events are there, compiled mostly in the 16th 18th centuries, or even later.

As a rule, these sources suffered considerable multiple manipulations, falsifications and distortions by editing. At the same time,

innumerable originals of ancient documents under various pretexts were destroyed in Europe under various pretexts.

The names of persons and geographical sites often changed meaning and location during the course of the centuries.

Geographical locations became clearly defined on maps only with the advent of printing.

This made possible the circulation of identical copies of the same map for purposes of the military, navigation, education and governance tasks.

Historians from Oxford say: "hey, everybody knows that Julius Caesar lived in the first century B.C.

`Julius Caesar' statement is only a point of view as

there is simply no irrefutable documentary proof that Julius Caesar or any other great name of antiquity ever existed.

Better than that - extremely rare sources that can be reliably dated back to the 10th-14th centuries A D, do not show the polished picture of classical history.

They show a picture both contradictory and confusing.

All methods of dating of ancient sources and artefacts are erroneous:

Radio-carbon C14 method produces dating with exactitude of plus minus 1500 years, therefore it is too crude for dating of events in historical timeframe!

The Almagest tractate, which lies as corner stone contemporary chronology, compiled in the 2nd century A D by Ptolemy, the founding father of astronomy, contains astronomical data of 9th to 16th century!

The Bronze Age,that has supposedly began 5000 years ago. Bronze is made of 90% copper and 10% tin, but the technology for tin extraction dates back to 14th century A D!.

All eclipses contained in manuscripts, like Thucydides one, relating 'ancient' events have exclusively medieval dating. All horoscopes cut in stone or painted in Egyptian temples, like Dendera have exclusively early medieval dating solutions.

Not quite what you have learned in school? Open your eyes, and, you will find sufficient proof to reach step by step the inevitable conclusion that the classical chronology is false and therefore, that the history of ancient and medieval world universally accepted today, is also false. Have a fresh outlook on everything said or printed about "ancient" and "enigmatic" Roman, Greek and Egyptian, medieval as well as all other "lost and found" civilizations.

Antiquity and Dark Ages are phantoms invented in the 16th 18th and polished in 19th 20thcenturies. Human civilization is in fact barely 1000 years old!

This book will change your perception of History forever!
What if Ancient Rome, Greece and Egypt were invented during Renaissance?
What if The Old Testament was a rendition of events of the Middle Ages?
What if Jesus Christ was born in 1053 and crucified in 1086 AD?
Sounds Unbelievable?

Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun (ie. closer), different tilt on its axis (ie. less than 23.5 degrees), different orbit (ie. more circular), different rotation (ie. in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different relative positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently from how we would today? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history or geography is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.

I purchased this manual only to find out that the element 2 test expired in July of 2007. I subsequently purchased "The ARRL HAM RADIO LICENSE MANUAL" which contains the question pool beginning July 1,2006.
This is an excellent manual.

Highly recommended for your Amateur Radio Technician License

"Now You're Talking" (NYT) is a great resource for anyone seeking a Technician class license -- the first step in the hobby of Amateur Radio. In simple, straightforward language, you'll learn all you need to know in order to pass the FCC's 35-question Technician class examination. The entire FCC question pool, along with correct answers and text references, is included, so there'll be no surprises when you walk into the examination room. As an added plus, you'll find references to many other resources that provide valuable information about the Amateur Radio Service and assistance in becoming a ham.

After a thorough study of NYT, I completed a computer-based review of Technician class exam questions using the "Ham University" CD available through the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) just prior to taking the exam. As a result, I maxxed the exam and received my Technician class license a few days later.

A caution--make sure you are using the current, 5th edition of NYT to prepare for your exam. In addition, the current question pool is due to expire on June 30, 2006, so you'll want to complete your Technician class exam before then or wait until the 6th edition of NYT is published.

This is the outdated version and will leave you unprepared for the tests. make sure you look and get the most recent version to better prepare. Otherwise, the book is a pretty good resource when preparing for the exams. Well organized and easy to follow.

Excellent resource for the technicians test...

If you want to actually know why the answers are what they are on the test, instead of just taking practice test after practice test and trying to memorize answers, then you NEED this book. I wasn't satisfied just taking the practice tests online and memorizing answers, so I bought this book - learned the information - and almost got a perfect score on the FCC's technicians class test. Most people I know, who didn't buy any books, barely passed. What kind of a score do you want?

Don't waste your money on this book! The writing is too simplified and a bit patronizing. Having thyroid problems for over 12 years, I recommend these better books: "The Thyroid Sourcebook" by M. Sara Rosenthal and "The Everything Health Guide to Thyroid Disease" by Theodore Friedman MD. PHD.

I knew my infant son had a thyroid problem, my only problem was convincing the doctors there was a problem. This book is packet with great information and really got me up to speed on the thyroid. The only problem I had with the book was that there wasn't a section dedicated to pediatric thyroid problems and it doesn't list specific ranges for where the thyroid levels should be. Still this helped me do battle with the doctors and I got my son's treatment started.

I bought this book for my mother who had been diagnosed with thyroid problems. She was so relieved that outside of the quick treatment in the endocrinologist's office, she could, at her leisure, absorb the seriousness of her disease, be reassured she was not alone, and most of all that there were many others just like her ailing but with a road map to new health by truding the road to wellness together by following the ten steps in this book. With renewed determination, she is already onto step one and looking to step two.

Help when your doctor ignores you

My assistant pastor's wife gave me this book because she had noticed so many of the symptoms in me. When I did the self-assessment, my score was almost the maximum number of points. It blew me away! I took a list of symptoms to my doctor (a page long, single-spaced!). He refused to even read it. (No, I will never see him again if I have any choice.) My TSH test numbers were "within the normal range." He said he would give me zoloft or paxil, but under no circumstances would he give me anything else. The other HMO doctor I saw said the same thing (he was at least civil about it and didn't treat me like a total idiot though). So, I had to pay out of pocket money that I don't really have to see a doctor outside the HMO who specializes in thyroid treatment. As it turns out, this is the top book on his recommended reading list to patients. He looked at my symptoms and test numbers (which I had insisted on knowing from my previous doctor) and said, "Yeah, you definitely have low thyroid." Surprise, surprise! Kudos to the Shameses for spotlighting research the established medical system has chosen to ignore. This has been unbelieveably helpful to me! My only complaint is the heavy emphasis on eastern mysticism.

I have been diagnosed with hashimotos for over 12months now and have been buying, borrowing and reading every book I can get my hands on. This book is the best of all I have read. It very comprehensively covers blending traditional medical solutions with "alternative" therapies to achieve optimal health and wellbeing.

I was laughing out loud, crying, and cheering for Fredericka Mercedes Hildebrand Ware---- "Frede" to her friends. There is a great lesson in the book. Life definitely can throw us some curve balls but a Junior Leaguer always finds a way to get through these challenges with her head held high and looking beautiful.

While the author might poke some fun at the Junior League. It has been one of the best experiences of my life and I am a member of a chapter in Texas.

It is an easy read. I read it one afternoon with a couple of glasses of wine.

It's a bit of a guilty pleasure watching a spoiled princess being taken down a peg or two, but I also found myself seriously wanting Frede to pull herself back up, which she does in a somewhat unexpected ending. Despite the backdrop of tradition, this is truly a story about a woman questioning those traditions and what they mean to her and consequently discovering herself.

I hope Nickki was not disappointed.

This book was well written and gave outsiders a sneak peek into the world of the Junior League. It is a fun book. I've given it as a gift to many younger people (nieces, etc.), friends who may not read often and others whom I thought might enjoy this delightful book. EVERY single person I've given this book to has told me they thoroughly enjoyed it and asked for another selection just like this one. Honestly, it's hard to top this fun, easy-going, compelling read. Five Star! Way to go girl.

Excellent book. Well written, first-person account of life in the minors. Really enjoyed it. This is the first book I've ever read start to finish in one sitting. It ain't Shakesphere--and that's a good thing. I hate Shakesphere. This is an easy read, fun and enjoyable.

I just finshed the book and wished Doug had played for more teams over the years so the story could continue. Doug comes across as a very likeable guy who happens to get his thrills by dropping the gloves with anyone who wants to go. Great insight into the workings of minor league hockey. The book's not expensive, it's easy to read, and very entertaining. Thanks for your memories, Doug!
