This is an excellent handyman guide. I highly recommend it, even if you are not planning to do the work yourself. It helps to speak knowledgeably to your contractor.

The World Standard since 1920. You can spend hours on the internet trying to find addresses for Amateur Radio Operators world wide. With this CD it finds QSL information in seconds and far exceeds the listings on the Internet. A must for DX hounds. Includes longitude & latitude, grid squares, time zone information, prefix maps, detailed QTH maps, prints address labels, and has a QSL Manager section as well. Many extras such as the DXCC list, Census, Q-Signals and much more. Highly recommended. Rod Dinkins AC6V

H. R. F. Keating wrote (in Henderson's Crime & Mystery Writers) "I put E. W. Hornung's stories about A. J. Raffles, gentleman cracksman, squarely besides the Holmes tales of Conan Doyle (Hornung's brother-in-law). Both sets of stories seem to me to have that feeling of absolute rightness, perhaps the surest way of distinguishing that hard to define thing, 'the classic.'"

Evil thieving Sherlock Holmes

Yep this book pretty much gives you a take on what would happen if genius detective Sherlock Holmes were instead genius cat burglar Justice Raffles. Raffles commits high collar petty theft for fun and profit. He steals jewelry etc and uses his connections as a gentleman to sniff out new opportunities. At one point as he describes the many middle men involved in reselling a piece of stolen jewelry as he explains to Bunny how crime doesn't pay - financially anyway. Often he steals something just because of the challenge involved in stealing it, which leads to interesting and varied stories for us to read. Bunny is his unwitting and later witting accomplice. He narrates the stories, as a sort of Watson to Raffles' Holmes.
These were very charming stories. If you like Sherlock Holmes and other victorian fiction then you will probably like these.

This little book is packed with good stuff. Sure, there are a few anectdotes, but theyr'e funny and informative. I'd say this is the most valuable book out there for it's purpose. Actually I think it's the only book out there on improvised blasting caps. If your'e just getting into explosives I would not recommend this book, you'd be too tempted to take the shortcut and try to make these things. It would be far more rewarding to get your explosives manufacturing license and buy the caps to detonate your homemade goodies. Experiment with industrial caps, light one off on it's own somewhere and then decide if you'd really like to try and make them. I would however, recommend owning this book. Some of you may know a few recipes for making explosives, but how many of you would know how to make a blasting cap in an emergency? I wouldn't rely on shooting at an explosive for detonation.

Dr. Zimmermann is the leading expert of amateur film theory in the ENTIRE WORLD. Pretty impressive, huh? I would rank this among the 25 most important books a film student needs to read before graduating college.

I don't have kids, but, if I did this would be the first book I bought to teach them about the fascinating world of robotics!
For me the most fun came with building Project 7 - The Robot Arm, I had hours of enjoyment experimenting with my LEGO Mindstorms set and using the graphical programming language to control the arm. After that I interfaced the Robot Arm to my Commodore 128 computer. (Yes, you read that right! LOL, I still use my trusty old C128!) contact me for a link to the webpage with pictures of my project.
I also enjoyed the introductory chapter "A World of Robots". The author gives a bit of history on robotics and he also discusses Isaac Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics, which if you know anything at all about robotics you have undoubtedly heard of Asimov's classic laws.
Also Project 5 (Combat On The Computer Screen) is another great project to do. You can download software that allows you to build virtual combat robots on your computer screen and then turn them loose to rip each other apart. It's the cyber version of the TV show Battlebots. I guarantee you will have fun with this.
This book contains something for everyone; you will not be disappointed with your purchase!

A Great Book with a Misleading Title

Review Date: 2008-05-16
It isn't a short story.
It is a retrospective of the golden age of 1920's and 1930's golf, as seen through the career and life of Roland R. MacKenzie, hailed as a "golf prodigy," a teammate of Bobby Jones and the youngest member of the Walker Cup team of 1926. Written by sportswriter John W. Stewart, it combines text with a lot of primary source materials. Containing clippings saved by MacKenzie's mother, the contents of this book are unique. Photos, statistics, news articles, feature articles, and cartoons. George Von Elm, Grantland Rice, Watts Gunn, Jess Sweetster, Steve Husted, Walker Cup history, Chick Evans, Don Moe, Babe Didrikson, Congressional Country Club, Ponte Vedra, and Pinehurst all make appearances. Bobby Jones gets particular focus.
