I can hardly wait to get the paint and try one of these effects. They are shown for a variety of surfaces (walls, floors, furniture, accessories).
Highly recommended if you want something besides plain ol' paint.

Great easy-to-create projects, neat effectsReview Date: 2001-04-30
The book starts out with an overview of wide color shaper types and basic strokes as well as instructions for preparing and finishing surfaces. Then it shows you how to create faux stone, faux wood, fabric looks and fantasy textures. Some projects include a malachite chest, marble table, blue patterned cupboard, kilim floorcloth, damask roller blind and ceramic tile trivet.
Further pattern recipes are in the back. Some of these include lapis lazuli, woven plaid and wavy cross-band design. The instructions for everything are excellent, demonstrated step-by-step with photos. Most projects use latex paints, glazing liquid and a water-base varnish and include a complete materials list.
My only wish for the book was a suppliers list. Wide color shapers can be difficult to find. Buy this book with the color shaper included if you can.

very well written regional mysteryReview Date: 2002-07-08
John looks forward to some serenity, but almost immediately he investigates a homicide that he quickly solves. A year later, fisherman Nels Bertelsen is found dead aboard his boat, the victim of a bee bite. At first it appears to be a tragic accident, but John uncovers evidence that leads him to conclude that someone placed the bee in the victim's clothing while the medicine that would have saved Nels was replaced by something useless. The only problem is nobody had a motive to murder the man.
PAST IMPERFECT is a very well written regional mystery starring an enigmatic hero who is readjusting to life in the USA. The supporting cast is colorful and eccentric while the plot is fast-paced and exciting. Katherine Hills makes the 1950's in the peninsula of Northern Michigan seem real in the mind's eye of the reader, who along with reviewer, looks forward to more works starring the True Grit like character of John McIntire.

Novelet originally published in Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery MagazineReview Date: 2007-11-25
This is a novelet originally published in Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magazine in the July/August 2005 issue. It launched the award-winning "Pit-Bull" Peter Geller series (about a physically handicapped man with an eidetic memory).
Pit is slowly drinking himself to death in his Philadelphia apartment when a former college friend contacts him for help with a blackmail problem. How Pit pulls himself from his alcoholic haze, takes charge, and solves the problem are the heart of the series.'
There are 2 more Pit stories published, and more upcoming in AHMM.
