Fantastic!! Just the book that I've been looking for - it has an enormous amount of information concentrated into relatively few pages. The format, similar to an internet FAQ, makes it easy to navigate. Whilst nothing is covered in great depth, the book serves its purpose of giving enough information to get a new astronomer up and running. I refer to this book a lot and expect to keep doing so.

this book is excellent. many,superb black and white photos plus a text of many deep sky sights written in unusual but intelligent prose. i own the hardback version .

This is a great book for the part time handyman. The ideas are the best part and the projects can be changed to meet the individual's requirements.

Don't let the title of this book fool you. It is a very basic book on carpentry, but also has a lot of information I didn't know. I especially like the section that talks about framing.

I've used this book to help me in several wiring jobs as we remodel our home. I've never done any wiring befor, but with this book all my projects (from ceiling fans to completly rewiring a new addition to the house) have come out right the first time. The book is full of easy to follow illustrations and is written in clear easy steps. I borrowed 5 books on wiring from a friend when I started working, and kept coming back to this one as it is most complete and easiest to follow. I highly recomend it to anyone in need of a helping hand while doing home wiring.

Seriously, most of us would not care to get into the basics of brick laying, and I cannot recall what moved me at the time, but I decided to want to do special accents for my rose garden. After a visit to the local garden supply, I found I could not achieve the effect I wanted with the premade articles, so I got a bee in my bonnet to do it myself. And guess what, with this book you can do just about anything.

It discusses the tools needs, the different mediums of brick, stone and concrete and then gives you easy methods to create projects to suit you taste. The was put out long before the first idiot's guide or dummies books, but it's along those lines. Even if you have no idea how to make concrete, the different patterns to lay brick or the techniques to make the projects of you vision become you, you can do it with this book.

Seriously, it teaches everything. So if you have the itch to create your own patio bricks or stepping stones, or just lay ones already made, or want to make that brick grill...well grab this book and in no time flat you are working like an expert!

Diagrams are easy to follow and they show every detail you need to be a great part-time mason.

Now if they can just find the TIME for me!

When I first purchased my house, I bought a plethora of home repair books. This stood out as one of the best. It offers all the information you would need for basic plumbing repairs within the house. From the bathtub to the kitchen sink to the toilet, this book covers all sorts of problems that arise in the average household. A great book for the home repair library. Invaluable.

I had this help book for years then I loaned itut,bye.
This book helped me to re-wire my own kitchen and basement
using both 120 & 240 volt lines.It has bee a god-send when
my friends ask me to help them with whatever they want to do.
It is worth far more, to me at least, than ORTHO asks for
it. I am now ordering another one now. I think every handyman
should have it.

Each chapter also begins with a series of color photographs that serve to inspire the reader as to what is possible by undertaking a renovation project.

Step by step, easy to understand, well illlustrated guide to the basics of preparing your property for building. Full of forms, calculations, information and lists of questions you would never think of to ask. An oldie but a goodie.
