From this book I was able to construct a foundation drain around a section of my basement had cracked and was leaking water. The drain is a great success. No more water, it relieved the soil pressure on the concrete block basement wall, and provided exterior insulation against the cold for the associated room.

I purchased this book after many other arrowhead/artifact book purchases, this book gave to me, personally, more information, it was simple to read and understandable. I was able to identify alot of items I had found on my property here in the mountains. I know he is in CO. but there were a good lot of items I could identify from here in OR. by the illustration and writing identification. I would like to thank Mr. Yeager for writing an easy to follow book on artifacts and such...I would also LOVE to see his collection sometime. :0)
Full of useful and interesting facts.

June 19,1992 was surface finding in a plowed field in Wilmore Ky., found to my surprise found a 10 pound mint, polished axe. Was very excited... I have found 2000 pieces over the past 10 years. Just found a top to a water jug. Would enjoy any correspondence from other collector's. have many different types found in only 5 fields. cannot identify all of them...One is a triple fulton turkey tail arrowhead, notched at bottom. I also have a piece of drift wood with a large spear inside wood with a celt, and other piece unidentified.

I'm teacher of Artistic Anatomy in Seville (Spain), and I would like to found an Spanish or English translatión of this book, because I have a germany edition (And I don't Know a word in this language). It seems a complete book, both text and images. So if you may give me some information about how I can get it in Spanish (I believe that not exist), or in English (in second place more easy for me), I would thanks you send me the way.
An essential reference for beginners to experts.

Bammes has put together one of the greatest collections of figure drawings in this book. Whether you're just beginning to tackle the problems of life drawing or you're an expert at translating the human anatomy to paper, this book should be positioned next to your sketching pads at all times. Not only does Bammes explain how artists might attack a problem, he uses illustrations from variety of sources. This is especially valuable because while readers see the artists solutions, many varieties of styles and mediums are represented. Drawings include simple gestural figure composed of a few graphite marks to complex figures with shadings and highlights. Because this is such a big thick book, readers can be sure that the human figure is explored from almost every angles. The variety of styles may also serve as points of inspiration. The Artist's Guide to Human Anatomy is not quite the artists' bible, but it's just as essential.

A well-planned and tasteful gazebo complements the home and makes for an at-home getaway spot. Author Dave Schiff takes a "hands on" approach to building the perfect gazebo, including detailed photographs and illustrations that elucidate the mysteries of roof framing and foundations. Of particular interest are the handrail details that outline precisely how to construct Victorian and traditional style handrails rather than the bolt-on Home Depot run-of-the-mill designs. Several styles of roofs, railings, and floor plans are detailed with marvelous photographs and drawings. In a significant departure from the octagonal gazebo, the author also offers details on a hexagonal variety.
This is a "must read" for anyone wishing to have a gazebo that differs from the garden variety prefab units that are commonly purchased at a highway graden center.

I bought and built a good sized house kit home but wanted to know how a house is really put together and proper terms after all my years of remodeling and odd jobs in construction.
This book covers it all from safety to setting up a table saw to building on site scaffolding or a simple ladder. Not to mention how to build an entire house!
I still constantly use this book as a reference on many projects.

A complete do-it-yourselfer's guide to residential carpentry from basements to balustrades. If you're the type who wants to know how to do it right, this is the book. It's really an omnibus of carpentry because it deals with rough and finish carpentry, drywall, floors and flooring, cabinets, insulation, doors and windows, tools and safety and more! It also explains how lumber and plywood are graded in the U.S. and Canada and includes great charts explaining architectural drawings and symbols. If you already know what a Phillips screwdriver is you don't need half of the "home improvement" books out there. This one is different. Mr. Spence has placed homeowners in his debt with this exceptional volume.

You remember those old Dr. Atlas style adverts - you know 'I used to weigh fifty pounds and have sand kicked in my face by nasty men who stole my girl until I got with the Dr. Atlas programme'?
Well, this book is the Dr. Atlas programme of DXing. Before I read it I was a clueless, puny, DX wannabe. Now I work 200+ countries a year, even in solar minimum, with 100 Watts and a doublet in the middle of a big city.
Bob Locher sets out exactly how to find the rare stations on the band, how to break pile-ups and how and where to listen to find the rare ones when the maddening hordes don't.
Some may find it's relentless focus on the DXCC Mixed programme does not quite tally with their own operating style. No matter - the lessons are as valid for other programmes. Some may find Locher's focus on CW too much - while he does discuss SSB operation to some degree, Locher is a morse operator through and through and CW is by far the most effective mode for those of us with underendowed signals.
This is no dry tome - told in story form, the book is littered with interesting and amusing anecdotes. We feel we are hunkering down in the pileups with W9KNI, sharing with him the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. Bob's love for amateur radio, CW, and the not so gentle art of DXing shine through on every page. Would that more amateur works could combine such insight, humour and utility.

With his excellent advice, I was able to work Clipperton with 80 watts to a vertical on 15 meters CW!
If you're interested in DXing, buy this book. It will put more countries in your log than your amp will.
I've gotten 307 countries worked (306 confirmed), and am waiting for A35RE for #307.

After 20 years of Amateur Radio Operation I thought I knew how to listen to a HF band.......I still had a few things to learn. Just reading the two chapters on listening techniques provides a wealth of information. The author shows the reader how to take the pulse of a band. How to quickly determine the paths that are open and the probability of success with each station
The techniques for listening to a band are applicable to nearly all phases of HF Operation. This text clearly deserves the classic status it has obtained in the amateur community.

This book is packed with solid, tested, real-world advice about filmmaking. Ignore it, and you'll waste time, money, and energy piddling around. Ask me, because I made a short film before I read it. Had I spent more time with Becker's book, I would've had a better time getting the film together, and perhaps a better film. The book's like having an ideal big brother take you aside and give you the low down. Out of the several books I've read, this offered the most practical and solid advice - not surprising, since Becker's actually directed four independent films, along with some TV shows. Profit from his experience. I can't emphasize enough how much more valuable this book has been to me than nearly every other `how to' guide out there.

The big difference between Becker's book and a lot of those other "Make a Digital Feature with your spare change" books is that he tells you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear. Making a movie, even a short or a mediocre one is VERY hard work. Your movie may suck. If you don't spend time and effort on the story, it most likely will. How will you sell/market it? There are movies with stars that can't find distribution so your independant movie with no stars better be damn good. I work in computer animation, and digital is not the solution to all problems like some of these books profess (although it can be a big help in many aspects). Film still looks better and is easier to light. Becker approaches filmmaking with a straightforward no-bs atitude. He has a chip on his shoulder when it comes to Hollywood and the state of recent movies, which according to him have been in a slump since the late '70s. Even if you disagree with him his rants are entertaining and well informed. He just wants to see better movies like all of us. If you want a touchy feely book that says you are special, all your ideas are wonderful and you will inevitably succeed, look elsewhere. If you want a realistic perspective and useful info on the entire film production process, buy his book. It doesn't have the whole puzzle but it has a lot of the pieces.
