This book takes Sci/fi fantacy to a whole new level which is very refreshing from the normal sci/fi fantacy. It is very well writen and easy to follow. The characters are so real feeling, that you can not help but feel you are there when you read this book. I would recomend this book to everyone and all of Saje Williams's books.

Of Man and Monster is unlike anything I have ever read. It's interesting, likable and realistic characters made the story line move quickly. It was quite difficult to put down.

If you're tired of cheap fantasy/scifi knockoffs, check out this book. I also highly recommend the first book in the series (which you don't need to read to understand this one).

It's hard to compare him to other authors. I say Tolkien or Brooks but only because they created new universes unlike anyone elses. Saje sets a high bar for new fantasy and sci fi authors. Fans aren't going to take recycled fiction forever and Saje has created a new world for us to play in.

From the back:
She'd returned to her birthplace to expose her mother's killer. But in facing her hazy childhood memories, Brie Danzinger soon discovered a family she'd never know - and an undeniable attraction to enigmatic police chief Reed Hunter. Reed knew something that he wouldn't - or couldn't - tell her. Was it about her mother...or more personal?
Giving in to his yearning for Brie could mean her death. But when her questions stirred a sleeping killer, Reed couldn't keep his vow to stay away. His feelings had to take second place to protecting Brie - but could Reed save her from the shocking truth about herself?
My Thoughts:
There are so many things that were great in it! The curse, the fact that Brie didn't know her family history very well, the suspense, of course. Loved it, and I'd recommend it!

This book is not for everyone, but I liked it very much. It points out that 72% of Americans believe in angels, nearly half believe that the world was created by god in its present form 6000 years ago. Since I am trained as a scientist, read Science each week and other similar periodicals I feel a compelling need to believe in evolution to make sense of the world I live in. I am guessing that people who believe in angels may not like the book.

Hopefully, I am wrong about that. Mr. Goode makes a scrupulous effort to not be judgemental. He carefully tracks the kind of reasoning that it takes to reach various conclusions and points out that many scientific conclustions are remote from human experience. A scientist might immediately tend to discount the claim that "UFO's must be real because I met someone who was actaully kidnapped by one and they told me their story." The scientist might be weighing in his or her mind the likelyhood that modern physics is totally incorrect vs. the likelyhood that the victim of the kidnapping might have been dreaming and mentally vote that it was a dream, while someone else might think of all the times scientists have been wrong and prefer the eyewitness account.

The book delves into the philosophy of science, various studies that have been done and other methods of showing the way various ways of thinking can lead to different conclusions. It is not a fluffy book and demands thought. I found myself reading it and thinking about it all day at work just waiting to get home to finish it.

Original, Compelling and Entertaining

Goode has done a remarkable job assembling information from a wide range of sources and developing a unique and convincing analysis of the relationship between mainstream science and paranormal beliefs. The author takes a comprehensive look at the interplay between scientists, who set the standards for evidence and proof, and paranormalists, who constitute the "deviants" by breaking the scientists rules. I particularly enjoyed his framework for organizing popular beliefs about the weakness of science; his willingness to treat astrology, UFOs, parapsychology and creation "science" as different rather than identical; and his explanation of why simple admonitions to increase scientific literacy through improved science education are unlikely to change anyone's beliefs. "True believers" and "skeptics" will benefit from this book, as will fence-sitters and social scientists who are interested in philosophy of science, collective behavior, deviance, and popular culture, but nobody will find everything to their taste. There is a tremendous amount of worthwhile information in this amazing inexpensive volume and despite high interest value I spent a long time reading it because the material provoked so much thought.

"Matchmaker's Match" by Willa Okati

Satan, aka "Scratch," is bored stuck down in hell, so he decides to amuse himself. He creates the Paranormal Mates Society to match paranormal beings up with their least compatible mates so he can wreak a little havoc. All hell breaks loose when the trickster Loki shows up and an unknown enemy sends in an angel. What will happen when three men with very different agendas meet?

"Matchmaker's Match" was chock-full of the humor and hotness I've come to expect from Willa Okati. I really enjoyed watching the sparks fly when the Devil, an angel, and a trickster god get together. The only disappointment for me was that although the story is smoking hot, it's not really romantic.

"Finders Keepers" by Lacey Savage

Claudia Foster, daughter of a clairvoyant and a telepath, has spent years becoming a successful treasure hunter. She finds and recovers antiquities for her clients all over the world. Normally she has no trouble not mixing business with pleasure, until her latest assignment sends her after a genie's lamp. In Egypt, she meets the enigmatic, sexy Xander, who she is sure knows the location of the lamp. Will Claudia be able to get the lamp without losing the man of her dreams?

"Finders Keepers" featured a very yummy genie hero. I liked Xander and sympathized with his distrust of people. The sex scenes were hot as well. Unfortunately, I wasn't keen on Claudia. She went on and on about separating business from pleasure, yet she didn't do what she said she was going to. I didn't particularly care for the way she treated Xander, and her remorse came too little, too late for me.

"Long Tall Furry" by Rachel Bo

A very long time ago, Sinna's ancestor angered an Amazon witch, leaving her family cursed. Now Sinna spends her time in two forms--one human and one Amazon fire serpent. Her body builds heat, which she has to dissipate using water. She also has attacks of sexual desire so intense she has to satisfy it right away when it strikes. Because of the curse, Sinna gave up on ever finding someone to spend her life with. Then her sisters goad her into joining the Paranormal Mates Society and she is drawn to the profile of "Longtallfurry," a Yeti. Can there be any future for two such opposite species?

"Long Tall Furry" is the first Yeti story I've read, and I quite enjoyed it! I liked the tough but secretly lonely Sinna, and Goss (the Yeti) was a great match for her. With a fire-and-ice match and some very spicy sex, "Long Tall Furry" makes for an unusual and fun read.

"Chunkybuttfunky" by Dakota Cassidy

Cadence Cranston, a vampire and nighttime DJ for a radio station, has had trouble finding a good man. Her friend Pam suggests she try online dating, so she checks out the Paranormal Mates Society. Unfortunately, she gets nowhere--until she sees the profile of "Ilikeminerare," a werewolf who's so hot she decides to send him an email. He responds, and seems interested, but he only wants to meet other werewolves. Cadence decides one little white lie won't hurt, but what will she do when her little white lie spins out of control?

"Chunkybuttfunky" puts a paranormal twist on the tried and true "little white lie" storyline. As a full-figured black vampire, Cadence made an unusual heroine. She was also very funny, especially when she was berating herself for lying. Collin (aka Ilikeminerare) is a man of many secrets himself. Watching two people who had held back a lot from each other try to go from blindingly hot sex to something more real was definitely entertaining.

With shifters, a genie, a vampire, and even the devil himself, Paranormal Mates Society, Vol. 1 provides a wide variety of stories. While I enjoyed some of the stories more than others, all are hot. If you'd like to see what happens when paranormal creatures try to find their mates, Paranormal Mates Society, Vol. 1 is an amusing way to find out!

This is volume one in Changeling Press's wonderful Paranormal Mates Society Series. Each story is a stand alone but they are set in a shared world, that even has it's own website! LOL

Matchmaker's Match is the first story by Willa Okati. Satan has decided to create (and mess with) the computer system at the paranormal mates society so that unlikely matches are made. Now the tables are going to be turned! It's funny and sexy, a terrific story.

Next up is Finders Keepers by Lacey Savage. Claudia is a psychic and follows her intuition to the paranormal mates website where she posts an ad. She's not really looking for a man, especially a hot and sexy former genie...A passionate and sizzling story!

The third story is Long Tall Furry by Rachel Bo where a shapeshifting fire serpent is more the surprised to be matched with a yeti! A great story that is both funny and touching.

Last, but never least , is Chunkybuttfunky by Dakota Cassidy. Candence is a full figured women, a DJ and, oh yes, also a vampire. She's tired of dating vamps and decides to give a werewolf a try. But nothing is as it seems for Candence and Collin. An fabulous, sexy and funny story.

A terrific series with something for every species. :-)

"Insomnia" by Kira Stone

Sanders L. Mann, a Sandman in the service of Morpheus, can't keep a relationship going. Being around him literally puts every guy he's ever met to sleep. At his boss' suggestion, he joins the Paranormal Mates Society, where he is attracted to the picture of a very sexy god. When Pe-Ben, the Abenaki God of Spring, gets Sandy's email, he is not sure whether they should meet at first. He's concerned that his ability to put people to sleep with his voice could be a problem. Can Sandy and Pe-Ben be together without putting each other to sleep?

I enjoyed "Insomnia," in part because it was funny. Sandy is so frustrated he often resorts to porn and toys, which leads to a couple of embarrassing situations. I wasn't as fond of Pe-Ben at first. He seemed standoffish, but later he started to grow on me. Part of the conflict in the story didn't strike me as entirely necessary, but overall I thought "Insomnia" was a cute, hot, and fun story.

"O Positive" by Ann Jacobs

Erica Stone is a newly made vampire, and a submissive. Since she was turned, she can't find a Master who isn't scared of her fangs. When she stumbles upon the Paranormal Mates Society, she figures it can't hurt to put up a profile. Dominant vamp Anthony Wilder sees her profile when he calls to complain about the service and the manager of PMS steers him to it. As soon as they meet, sparks fly. Have Erica and Tony finally found what they need in each other?

Although "O Positive" is a scorchingly hot story, I just couldn't get into it. I admit BDSM isn't my favorite thing anyway, and in this story Erica went crazy for Tony the second she saw him just because he was a vampire dom. There wasn't much getting-to-know-you involved for either of them. While it was easy to believe they were compatible sexually, I didn't buy the love at all because they barely knew each other.

"Loving Fury" by Amelia Elias

As the Fury in charge of natural disasters, Thera doesn't get many dates. In fact, men are terrified of her. She is ecstatic when she joins the Paranormal Mates Society and gets an invitation to dinner from a sensitive water sprite. When she arrives for the date, however, she's horrified to discover that she's been tricked. Her date is actually Ares, the God of War, and he's equally unhappy to see her. What happens when two immortals are given the opposite of what they think they want?

"Loving Fury" was without a doubt my favorite story in this anthology. Thera is a great character. Amelia Elias did a wonderful job of making her both powerful and very vulnerable emotionally. The first-person narration drew me in right away, making it impossible for me not to root for Thera. Ares turned out to be just the match for her--strong, sexy, and tender. "Loving Fury" is a fabulous story that's hot, sweet, and immensely satisfying!

"Playing with Matches" by Cat Marsters

Nymph Nerissa is so busy running the Paranormal Mates Society website she doesn't have time for anything more than porn and sex toys. Unfortunately, someone has hacked the site, making the perfect matches suddenly not-so-perfect, and now her bosses are mad. When she confronts the guilty party, the satyr Ceyx, he tries to make it up to her. Sex won't fix everything, though. Can Ceyx put aside his need for chaos to fix the problems he caused before it's too late for Nerissa?

"Playing with Matches" is a very spicy story, including multiple partners, exhibitionism, and more. I liked watching the trouble-making Ceyx trying to reform (at least a little) for Nerissa. If you're in the mood for a fun romp with a lot of interesting mythological characters, "Playing with Matches" fits the bill nicely.

"The Midnight Hour" by Isabella Jordan

Werewolf Spencer Kingston is wearying of his wild sex life. Even the threesomes with his cousin and his cousin's wife are not as exciting as they used to be. That's why when he spots the sexy redhead spying on them, he's intrigued. Helen Slade has her own agenda, but she gets distracted by an unexpected attraction to Spencer. She's determined not to let him keep her from her mission, however. Is there any way they can both get what they want?

"The Midnight Hour" was a hot but very rushed story. I felt like I was jumping into the middle of something that never got fully explained. I wanted to understand the intrigue surrounding Spencer, his cousin, and his wife, but there wasn't enough background information for me to do so. I have a feeling this one would make more sense if I had first read Isabella Jordan's other Paranormal Mates Society Story.

Overall, Paranormal Mates Society Vol. 3 is a fun and interesting way to read about different paranormal creatures and try some new authors. A couple of the stories were standout--"Loving Fury" alone makes this anthology a worthwhile read.

This is the third and final five stories in Changeling Press's Paranormal Mates Society Series. Each story is a stand alone but they are set in a shared world, that even has it's own website! LOL And a few of the stories share characters too.

Insomnia by Kira Stone: Sanders Mann manages an inn, but his real job is giving sending them off to sleep, Pete Benjamin brings winter to his people and also puts people to sleep, could this be the perfect match? Insomnia is funny, hot and a great story!

O Positive by Ann Jacobs: Erica Stone is not happy about becoming a vampire, she's a submissive and wants a paranormal man. Anthony Wilder is an older aristocratic vamp and thinks that Erica could be the woman of his dreams...but they have a few issues to work out first. O Positive is another wonderful and erotic bdsm story by Ann Jacobs.

Loving Fury by Amelia Elias: When a satyr hacks into the Paranormal Mates Society computer to make trouble, Ares (the God of war!) ends up matched with a fury named Thera. Will they make love, or war? A very funny and sexy story!

Playing with Matches by Cat Marsters: This is the story of Ceyx, the trouble making satyr from the previous story and Nerissa, a former nymph who runs the Paranormal Mates Society. Nerissa is pissed that someone has hacked into her system and is determined to find out who it was. When they meet up (again!) the sparks and sex starts to fly. A terrific, hysterical and very erotic story!

The Midnight Hour by Isabella Jordan: Helen Slader is sent by her agency to spy on Grace Shaw and her werewolf husband. She had no idea her job would include watching them, and Spencer a cousin of Grace's husband having hot, erotic, ménage sex. Spencer knows that Helen is watching and he wants her....and there's a murder to be solved. A hot sexy werewolf story!

The final volume in a terrific series with something for every species. :-)

I was fairly educated in the paranormal before I read this book, but because of the examples and information he includes from the wide perspective in the paranormal field, I found it to still be a most interesting book. He brings up a lot of research that gives us an indication to that we have still a long way to go to use our full potentional. And I sure loved the show as well... :)

This books do I highly recommend to everyone, but especially rookies and skeptics. As I think they would get the most out of this book, and maybe it will spark a curiosity that will lead to further research in the area...

I also find it great for someone who's lost a dear one. VERY GOOD!!!!

At first glance this book looked like it would be hard to follow with the way the chapters are set up. Boy, was I wrong. It flows very well. It is very refreshing to see a book set up so differently and have it be so easy to read. I love being able to read just a chapter at a time. It covers case stories one to a chapter. No chapter is more than eight pages long. It great for reading when you just have 10 minutes here and there. The stories are very well presented. I am ready for volume II =)

Once she meets Sirus Parker, she can't deny the attraction she feels for him. She senses there is more to him than what he appears to be. Gladly, she will allow him to escort her to meet her father, and maybe on the way she will convince him that he is her mate.

Sirus Parker is a Space Captain, sent to the planet Eridani to retrieve the daughter of the Rajah of Cephei IV who was being fostered on the planet by a loving Wolfan-Psi family. From the first moment that Sirus and Danni meet, the sparks start to fly. Danni's foster family wants to keep them apart, seeing only human in Sirus. Is there more to him than meets the eye? With Sirus, what he wants, he believes that he will ultimately get and he wants Danni.

Cynthia Williams creates a world full of possibilities, intrigue, suspense and the ultimate erotic romance. I became so wrapped up in this story that I had to finish it in one sitting. Cynthia makes these characters so real that I found myself laughing, cheering, and biting my nails. The erotic scenes were steaming up my sheets. From The Romance Studio
"Beast of Awakening by Cynthia Williams is a passionate and steamy erotic tale that is set in a series of stories where the humans are trying to eradicate all of the hybrids. The Humans have been genetically altered to have characteristics of wolf, panther, or tiger. The Conglomerate's goal is to destroy anyone not completely human. Sirus is a man that has worked to save as many of the hybrids that he can. He does not want it known that he is Tigran because it is much easier to pass as human and work in secret. He is honorable and courageous as well as extremely attractive. Danni is instantly attracted to him. She is young and eager to learn the joys of the body. With her feline sensuality she works to seduce Sirus. The awakening of her womanhood is exciting and passionate. Sirus is gentle and caring. He is the perfect man to introduce her to sex. The sex is frequent and explicitly graphic. This story is a beautiful love story filled with romance and stimulating sensual scenes that were pure joy to read. The dialogue is beautifully written and flows smoothly throughout the story. The plot to find Danni a mate is completed successfully. There are many scenes that will have you laughing out loud. Filled with humor, Beast of Awakening is an excitingly passionate and steamy read that is pure entertainment."

From Romance Reviews Today
"Cynthia Williams writes another fascinating story with BEAST OF AWAKENING. Sirus and Danni are intriguing and playful characters who grab your attention from the start. Sirus has always hidden the part of him that makes him different. He looks like a human and can pass for one without a problem. Danni is a beautiful, sensual creature who has yet to become a full-fledged woman. Once she goes through her first heat -- boy, is her man going to be tired -- then Danni will have a couple of extra powers in her arsenal. It's a while before Danni and Sirus end up making love, but the foreplay leading up to it is hot enough to singe the fingertips...and some other parts as well. Secondary characters include Danni's pack brothers, Karl, Wood, and Eric, who are all overprotective to a fault, her mother who is a wonderful and caring woman, plus Karrick and Amanda (BEAST OF DREAMS) and Alexander and Bethan Logan, who were also introduced in the first book of the series, BEAST OF DREAMS. Titillating foreplay, humor, a bit of danger, and charming characters are what author Cynthia Williams weaves into her latest erotic tale, BEAST OF AWAKENING. I can't wait to see who will be caught next in the snare of her imagination."

"This is a lengthy but satisfying novel, which will appeal to lovers of sci-fi and paranormal, and romance fans alike. The love interest and romance plot between Danni and Sirus is both heartwarming and touching, and indeed Sirus is a hero many women would like to find for their own. He truly is an ethical and upright male. The concern of the wolfan pack for their sister Danni is also encouraging. The plot line is good, there's plenty of background development, and the characters are strongly delineated. I give it high praise."

"Heckart's work offers beautiful, poetic descriptions rich in detail. Reading this book is a sensual pleasure. It is especially a joy to read about the idyllic agrarian lifestyle, and the sense of people's connection to the land, to the tribe, and to the spirit world. The richness of detail in descriptions create a powerful aura that positively fills this work." Reviewed by Snapdragon at the Long and the Short of It

Ambiorix is split across many directions in being a husband and father, a task more difficult than it seems. "Ravenwolf" is his tale of how he rejoins the Roman army to protect his family, as his wife deals with ghosts of the past reemerging - and she must deal with the gods - as Ambiorix is faced with having to go through the underworld itself and possibly surrendering his own soul in order to save the love of his life. A captivating and riveting fantasy novel which crosses over into romance, "Ravenwolf" is a must have for fantasy and romance fans everywhere, and is a top pick for community library science fiction and fantasy collections.
