E. G. Parsons' new release, Black Rock: A Time for Love is a sweeping tale of love, deceit, and a woman caught between two different worlds. After her father's death, twenty-one-year old Roxanne returns from a girl's school in Boston to Wild Rose, Texas to take over operation of the family ranch. Crushed by grief, it would seem Roxanne has enough to deal with but her troubles have only just begun. Headstrong and capable as she is beautiful, Roxanne soon encounters ruggedly handsome Collin and is hard pressed to resist the attraction she feels for this rude, roguish man. But Collin is not all that he appears on the surface.
I found myself turning pages at breakneck speed as their romance unfolded against incredible odds and the astonishing truth of Roxanne's past was revealed. E.G. Parsons' knowledge of the 1800s is unparalleled. Combined with her brilliant imagination and flair for creating living, breathing characters, she once again holds her readers spellbound and begging for more. Black Rock: A Time for Love is a winner!
Highly recommended.

I never thought I'd enjoy a romance story, but enjoyed other books by this author and thought I'd try this one. I wasn't sorry. Roxanne and Collin's story was intriguing and different than some time travels I've read. There was plenty of suspense and sizzling love scenes to keep me entertained and I even got misty eyed while reading the last chapter. I'll be watching for more from Ms. Parsons.

Like the BLACK WIDOW she's beautiful but deadly - and utterly irresistable

Review Date: 2008-03-25
Up until the fateful night she's attacked by what she believes to be a huge dog-like creature Tammy's life had been routine and boring. Now there's nothing normal or boring about her existence what-so-ever. Life as she knew it is forever gone - she's become a hybrid, half wolf-half vampire, with a blood-lust and sex drive that will lure men to their graves.

Marcellus Donne is the leader of the vampires and he's responsible for saving her life and turning her into the legendary creature that she's become. Like other men he finds it near impossible to resist her siren's call - even though he's aware that to yield could be deadly - even for a vampire.

Roark Lanier, wolf pack leader, has mixed emotions about the night Tammy was attacked. His friend Grady violated lycanthrope law and converted a human to werewolf and because of his obvious unstableness had died. Discovering that Tammy is his mate however is beyond exciting. Physically she's perfection, but she's part vampire and he isn't sure how to handle sharing her with Donne.

Tammy doesn't understand what's happening to her. One minute she's lamenting her lack of a social life, she's attacked and the next she knows she's restrained with an uncontrollable need for sex and blood. Donne's fully aware that Tammy should be destroyed - she's already come close to killing two of his men, but that doesn't keep him from feeling connected to her. Destroying her isn't something he's truly willing to consider. Fortunately Roark is equally drawn to her and determined to do everything in his power to protect her. She's his mate . . . but she's also a mate to Donne.

The vampires and werewolves are natural enemies and neither desires having anything to do with the other, but Tammy forces them to come together in a way none of them have ever considered - even if their goal is to kill her. Donne has his hands full keeping the vampires from uprising, and Roark faces discontent amongst his pack. Meanwhile Tammy's trying to figure out where it is she fits in since she obviously will not be accepted amongst either of her new mates' people. Likened to a BLACK WIDOW, Tammy draws men to her for sexual gratification but her need to feed is a veritable death sentence for anyone who heeds her call. Can Donne and Roark teach her to control her instincts and show her that she's not a monster?

Like the infamous spider, BLACK WIDOW draws readers in and won't let you go until you've read every fascinating word. I've had Mackenzie McKade on my `must read' author list ever since I first started reading her storylines but BLACK WIDOW shows a whole new side of her writing talent that I never expected. She's taken two highly popular subjects, werewolves and vampires, and combined them to tell a story that's so intriguing and down right sexy that I was salivating just imagining each scene. Add to that the intensity of the feelings between Tammy, Roark and Donne and an all around thrilling plot full of all the suspense you could possibly want and you have a story that you'll definitely be adding to your keeper shelf! Hopefully there'll be more stories in the near future involving these characters because I really would like to know more about many of them.

Leaving her office to go home Tammy is violently attacked and mauled by what appears to be a giant dog. As Tammy feels her heart beating it's last, she is rescued. When she awakens she finds herself chained to a cold floor and along with the paralyzing fear she feels, Tammy finds that she can only think of how much she wants to be sandwiched between the two gorgeous men discussing her without realizing she's awake, and the fact that she can hear their blood pumping in their veins and she'd like nothing better than to drink her fill. Tammy has been viciously ripped from her lonely yet normal life to a life where she is hated and believed to be an abomination better off dead. Marcellus, the vampire leader who saved her life and Roark the werewolf leader who realizes she's in heat both feel a strange pull towards the young woman who did not ask to be turned into a hybrid of vampire/werewolf. Both men are willing to do what they must in order to save her life and keep her as their mate. But with so many questions swirling around and danger lurking within each group vampire and werewolf can this triad overcome all obstacles that lay in their path to happiness?

Black Widow is beyond a doubt a Joyfully Recommended Read for me!! Let me tell you why...I was hooked from the first chapter. I read this story late into the night, eyes burning and teary and yet I continued to read because I wanted to see who was the mysterious, sexy man who fought off what was no doubt a werewolf gone mad and rescued this poor woman from it's maw full of teeth. As I read I was wholly sucked into the turmoil that Tammy felt being caught between THREE worlds, (human, vampire and werewolf) and two stunning-make-your-panties-melt men who both want her as their mate. The hatred that was thrown at Tammy from each group was so real; I can imagine the eyes of those wanting her dead glowing an eerie red. Not only was Tammy dealing with being unwanted she had to deal with the extremely confusing and conflicting feelings within. She wanted sex...no, not wanted, she NEEDED it. At the same time she needed to feel the richness of blood flowing down her throat and her very desire was to have both at the same time. Marcellus and Roark answer her siren's call and I swear I thought I would have to move to Alaska just to cool the flames. There is one scene that is SO hot my eyes crossed, I put my ereader down to cool off and went back and re-read it just for good measure. Ms. McKade could make a saint commit a sin with this story! As Tammy gathered her inner strength, there were moments that I could visualize her wrapping her newfound power and confidence around her like a man wraps himself around his woman in the heat of passion. It was at these moments I would giggle and say `You go girl!' Now there is a character in the story, Stephen, who I would love to see in a future book. A bucket of ice won't do the trick this time, you will have to pull out your little black book or grab your s.o. when you are done reading, or as you are reading this, but read it you must!

One fateful night and a vicious attack by a strange creature changes Tammy's life and her destiny forever. With new powers that threaten to grow beyond her control and two men insistent that she is now their mate, she can never return to the life she once knew. But acceptance into her new world isn't quite so easy either, as both vampires and werewolves prove fearful of her.

For she has been reborn as a creature of awesome legend, with the potential for more strength and power than any other. Even more frightening to the werewolves and vampires she now walks amongst, her bond with Marcellus, the vampire king, and Roark, the alpha of all werewolves, affords the opportunity to unite two races that have endured a barely civil truce until now. There are those who will do anything to prevent this.

Mackenzie McKade has done it again! With a decided penchant for sexy vampire tales, she really revs things up in Black Widow, where she not only brings both the vampire world and the shifter world together, but unites them with a more obscure creature of legend and a fascinating, original mythos to go along with this new world of hers.

What obscure creature of legend, you ask? Ahhh, but that would be a bit of a spoiler, and I am not one to knowingly spill the little surprises in a story... Better you should read for yourself and experience the same little thrill I did as the story unfolds and you learn this firsthand. Suffice it to say that Ms. McKade has delivered a very unique spin in paranormal romance that I am eager to see more of in the form of sequels to Black Widow!

What I will say right up front is that this romance has some very hot ménage scenes between Marcellus, Tammy, and Roark, and those scenes sometimes include some light male/male content, although the love scenes are primarily male/female and male/female/male. All of it is very well done and serves to exhibit the love this trio have for each other and the strength of their new bond.

If you love paranormal romance about a ménage with a devastingly handsome, very attentive vampire and a highly sexed alpha werewolf then you will adore Mackenzie McKade's Black Widow!

This story took all of my senses on an exploratory journey right from the beginning. I held my breath as the journey took me into the love scenes, expecting to flinch and squirm and hurridly skip the sex scenes but my sensuality was gently massaged, nutured and tantalisingly captivated. I was in the grip of a long lost sensuality, having gone through the great "pause-on-men".

The writer tactfully released me from my inhibitions and allowed me to experience the feelings of the hero and heroine without guilt though I confess a blush or two.

The story line kept me avidly reading. I could not put it down. It has been years since I have read a book that has done that for me.

Being the second in the series, I also felt comfortable in the knowledge that this writer would not disappoint me.

I wait with baited breath for the next book in the Celtic series.

Must buy!

Wow! I was a big fan of the first book, but this book, the second in the Celtic series, just made Lyn Amstrong one of my favorite authors out there!

This story is about Adela's daughter, Gavenia (Adela was the heroine in the first book "The Last Celtic Witch"). Gavenia Roberts, a good witch, is captured by the evil and mysterious--but oh my goodness so incredibly sexy--sorcerer, Laird Tremayne Campbell.

There is so much bad blood between these two besides the fact that Tremayne just kidnapped Gavenia and locked her away in his tower. First, they are both from rival clans. Second, he's evil and she's good. Third, Tremayne's mother was the horrible sorceress from the first book that tried to kill Gavenia's mother. Last, Tremayne wants to sacrifice Gavenia to help stop a curse that's plaguing him and rescue his wicked mother from...

What an awesome book!!! This story is so enchanting, so sexy, and I am totally in love with Tremayne.

I can't recommend this book enough and I am waiting--eagerly--for the third book in the series. I read on the author's website that she is already writing the third book, "Heart of a Warlock", which is about Gavenia's brother, Callum. :)

Book with a cliffhanger ending

Review Date: 2008-09-23
I won't go into the story line ...

Dark Hunger is Book 2 of the Brethen series, and you could get away with starting with this one, but reading book 1, Dark Thirst, helps with a lot of the background. Also Brandon and Lina, are in this one quite a bit and having their background will be helpful.

This book picks up where that one left off.

This story is Brandon's twin sister Tessa and and Rene, Lina's old partner. I enjoyed this one as much as the first one... it's another unique story (with Brandon being a deaf-mute and Lina being African American and Brandon's white) ... In this book, Rene is an amputee, Tessa was abused by her husband. It's finding out that you can love someone else and they'll love you for who you are.

The ending bothered me a bit ... it just didn't seem right, what happened with the one character I think is really what bothered me. Frankly I didn't see it coming, and maybe that's what bothered me.

It put a nice twist at the end ... a cliffhanger. And will be a great lead in to the 3rd book in the series (I hope there's a third book in the series)... I really want to get these questions answered.

Pregnant vampiress Tessa Davenant has had enough with the abuse and meanness of her spouse Martin five times her age and a zillion times anyone's cruelty. She leaves the Brethren Kentucky estate, a place she never left before, to travel to New Orleans to help her fraternal twin Brandon Noble convicted to die by the family elders.

Half-breed vampiric outsider Rene Morin is her escort although his constant criticizing of her is disturbing especially since she is attracted to the former cop. He tries to hide his desires for her behind the façade of assuming she is a wealthy spoiled rich bitch. As they journey to still desolate post Katrina Louisiana, someone follows them with the intent of killing both of them and her brother and his human lover Lina, Rene's ex-police partner.

This is a terrific vampire romantic suspense that sort of uses a patriarchal community similar in some ways to the Mennonites as the home base of the Brethren. The story line is action-paced from the onset as the lead couple is attracted tone another, but refuses to act on their desires. Although well written, some of the support characters' activities seem too obfuscate with implications that the reader should peruse the previous tale DARK THIRST for a better understanding. Still this is a fine paranormal romantic thriller due mostly to the prime duet.

Dragon Lords: The Warrior Prince (Book 4)

A story about the 4th prince of the Draig. This prince is also looking for love and finds it by forcing Pia, a girl who is running and thinks she is ugly and running from a murder, therefore has a body/face transformation that makes her yet more beautiful.

The princes have a way about seducing and he definitely puts it to Pia. She resists thinking that he could not really find her irresistable. After many, many things happening on the planet, they both come to realize they were made for each other. There are also plenty of hot, sexy scenes.

This book is a perfect ending to the Draig series. But there is more to learn in the next series, Lords of the Var--keep reading!

The princes of Qurilixian will meet and choose their life mate. This is the story of Zoran and Pia. Pia, who is running away from a possible execution, and is physically scarred from a childhood act of betrayal joins the Galaxy Brides. The Galaxy Brides have promised to give her a new face. They remove all traces of the scars and she goes to Qurilixian as one of the brides. Zoran's crystal chooses her and in a simplistic ceremony involving the removing of masks and the crushing of crystals they are wed. Once bonded Zoran will never let her go. Pia feels her husband is the most handsome of the four princes. Zoran is a man who knows what he wants,; and he wants Pia. He is the captain of the guard and used to getting what he wants. When his wife, the one person who should obey him, refuses to, he realizes the fight for his heart's desire will be the toughest. Zoran and Pia's story is full of humor and hot love scenes. It will leave you craving for more. If you liked the Dragon Lords, read the Var Princes series. It is the story of the "enemies" of the Dragon Lords and is just as hot.

The four princes of Qurilixian will meet and choose their life mate. Book four is about Prince Zoran "The Commander". His planet is male dominated and they must seek elsewhere for mates...Pia is running away from a possible execution. She is an assassin and ended up killing the Mayor's son. You will fall in love with this prince also. After reading these stories (The Barbarian Prince, The Perfect Prince, The Dark Prince and The Warrior Prince) read the Var series they are great. The great thing about Ms. Pillow is that you get to know and to love many characters and then you start wondering if she is going to make a new story about them. For example, after reading The Warrior Prince and The Savage King (Var King) I wondered if the author is going to making a book about the Var king's heir marrying Zoran's daughter. This last should be very interesting to read "a dragon and a feline."

"Jen's upset about something." my co-worker said about our receptionist. I looked up from my paperwork and replied "How can you tell that just by how she walks down the hallway? " "I don't know. I just can. Can't everyone?

Actually, no. Only one in twenty of us are empaths - those of us who "identify with and understand another's situation, feelings, and motives" (American Heritage dictionary). If you are someone with those gifts, this audiobook is well worth the time invested in listening to it.

Rose Rosetree, teacher, author and yes, empath has written and recorded a very unique guide for those of us with these wonderful skills in "Empowered by Empathy". Not only does she explain the various forms of empathic knowing (emotional oneness, intellectual shapeshifting, etc.) but she goes on to offer a variety of techniques specifically designed to assist in working with these gifts rather than being hindered by them.

My co-worker, mentioned above, is exquisitely attuned to what others are feeling. Yet, she's had to all but turn that ability off in order to stay afloat emotionally. Because of her centered and calm demeanor, others are drawn to her and she often finds herself drowning in their "stuff". If you've been there, as I have, you know it's not a fun place to be. Rose teaches skills that will show you how to turn down the empathy dial so you can still be present for others but take care of yourself at the same time. She also gives you real life examples to clarify her points and shares her answers to questions the reader might have (based on her years of working with empaths).

The six cd set runs a bit over seven hours and is great to listen to in the car. Rosetree's voice carries her clear and positive intent as a teacher of this wonderful work. I listened on my way to work and felt uplifted by the twinkly energy in her voice. I read the book a couple years ago but listening to it allowed me to catch things I missed by reading and also jogged my mind about techniques that were relevant to my own inner work. One of the things I like most about all of Rose's books is her ability to speak to different levels of the audience without losing anyone by being too technical nor boring anyone by being too basic.

A wonderful adjunct to the printed book, "Empowered by Empathy" audiobook is a good way to learn how to fine tune your empathic skills and have a little fun with it.

Rose Rosetree draws upon her many years of experience and expertise with empath empowerment in Empowered by Empathy: Twenty-Five Ways To Fly In Spirit an informative introduction to awakening personal empathy through the application of Rosetree's expert techniques and intuitive spiritual development. This six-disc CD audiobook edition of Empowered by Empathy has a total running time of 7 hours, 13 minutes and deftly carries the listener through easy, step-by-step techniques to taking hold of and control life; turning on the gifts for recognition of the true experience of "otherness"; turning off the gifts to block picking up the pains of others; and obtaining a practical understanding of empathy as a true and enduring blessing, regardless of how much suffering has resulted in having lived as an untrained, uncontrolled empath in the past. Empowered by Empathy is very strongly recommended, especially for those who were born with physical, intellectual, spiritual, emotional, or metaphysical empathy.

This can't be happening to her, she is married to Kellach and now she is back home, as if nothing happened. She is certain it was real. Somehow she has to find a way back to Kellach or has he disappeared into the mists of time?

The excitement and joy I felt after reading this book was enormous. Fiona is a love to pass all loves. The characters are crafted well, making them almost believable in all their actions and emotions. Rich in historical data, I was carried in time, right along with Fiona, as she meets Kellach for the first time. Just imagining waking up and finding oneself in another time period with different lifestyles and people, this story was so gripping it was like being in the center of all the action. I found this page-turner hard to put down once I started it. The way P. L. Parker allows Fiona to learn another way of life and get caught in all the different aspect that surrounds her is marvelously done. She blends a romance to last through eternity, it is absolutely timeless. Impressible, implausible, and elegantly done, this is one story that I don't think I will ever forget!

I loved the book. Once I started reading it, I couldn't let go.... The book had everything in it---the busy modern every day life, mother/daughter relationship, child birth, the simple life, the everlasting love, and especially the unknown. The book touched me in a way that it's hard to explain, and I'm sure everyone will connect to it in their own ways. It's hard enough being an outsider whatever the circumstances may be. The young and beautiful girl, Fiona, has the ability to easily adapt to her new surroundings, learn a new culture, and continue being strong without forgetting who she truly is. I was very impressed by the way the author commingled the good with not so good things in life. There is so much more to this book... the romance, the other characters. I would definitely recommend Fiona to everyone. WHAT A GREAT BOOK!

This is an absolutely wonderful book to read. The way that Ms. Parker describes the characters, they actually come alive when you are reading this book. It is full of wonderful historical information and interesting characters that are really well described. This is one book that is hard to put down until you have read the whole thing. A must read.

The simple story of the love of a man for a woman, set amidst (an intense study of) tribal life and wolf packs 100,000 years ago. Eve leads her tribes out of Africa intent on finding the Tribe of Lost Brothers and Sisters. She meets up with Brother Wolf and his packs, and Neanderthals. In the 21st century, Dr. Arny Singer, Nobel Laureate discovers the link among Eve, the Neanderthals, and wolves (just as the Earth Mother had planned). Arny is treated to a trip back in time to witness his discoveries. He falls hopelessly in love with the most beautiful and fiesty woman Earth Mother had ever created. Discover who the Earth Mother favored: wolf or man, and why.

This novel was the most romantic epic I have ever read. I loved it. The protagonist, Eve, is in her forties. Eve leads her people to an Eden that is pure and free, not only for mankind but animals as well-nirvana. The love is appreciated not only between Eve and Arny, other tribe and Clan members, but between mankind and wolves as well. The author speared my heart through the deep connections expressed between people, the love of animals, and the respect of nature. I hope he writes his next book with the same sensitivities. The author mixes hunting, mysticism, customs, song, wrestling, tie-matings (weddings), art, and story-telling to create a dynamic portrait of the times, people and wolves. There are cameos by ravens, cave bears, cave lions and an arctic fox that spice the stew and steal your heart.

I was so happy to see a story about BLACK EVE and even happier after reading it. Eve is a role model for all of us. I can recommend this beautiful story. With wolve, cave bears, cave lions, ravens and neanderthals it has something for everyone. My son says, "It's the wolves, mom". Ok, my grandson won't give the book back. Read and enjoy it.

I've read hundreds of books trying to answer many of life's plaguing questions. What Dr. Walker has done, is to put into one volume the important information from all those many books. He has worked tirelessly over many years researching and uncovering facts to bring to the reader the scientific evidence available on many topics regarding vital force energies. This vital force is key to who and what we are and also to what we can be. Dr. Walker has written this book in a style similar to the Holographic Universe by Michael Talbot. If you enjoyed Talbot's book, you'll love this book even more because Dr. Walker keeps the reader turning pages almost as if you are reading a fast-paced mystery novel, all in a simple-to-understand language. A great go-with book if you enjoyed the movie "What the Bleep Do We Know? Topics covered include everything from cold fusion to the Egyptian pyramids; the power of prayer to heart transplants; psychokinesis and ESP to the Cydonia pyramids on Mars; Ch'i Gong; Tai Ch'i; chakras; holographic images; Kirlian photography and something called orgone; scientific discoveries and inventions from the Wright brothers to William Reich; Edison to George Lucas. All this and much more crammed into the book's 450-plus pages. Underneath the wealth of information in this book is the story of what happens to scientists who provide facts against the status quo of the scientific community. The reader discovers that many of our greatest questions about life have been studied, but the answers have been repressed, destroyed, and discredited. This is one of those books you will want to keep within arm's reach. One of my top 20 favorite books of all time.
