Yay! A great steamy romance that builds and two well matched smart and sexy leads make Beast of Desire sooo much better than Jones' first Knights of White book.

Des was one of the amazing supporting characters in the last book who gave me hope for this series and I certainly wasn't disappointed. Des still walks the edge here being one of the Knights whose beast is close to having full control, since he keeps his human part protected and hidden away due to scars in his past. Even though Des and Jennifer aren't soulmates from a previous life like Karen and Jag from The Beast Within (Silhouette Nocturne Series), there still is a familiarity and a sixth sense of 'knowing' each other innately that makes the quick attachment that flames between Des and Jennifer seem natural and believable.

Overall Jones does better with her bad guys here too. This time we aren't bludgeoned by their evil, though the human minion Greg, who is Jennifer's nemesis and aspires to beastdom, gets a bit repetious and tiresome after a while. Other than that my only minor nit was with the scene where Jag give Jennifer a complete flashback on Des' history and Beast battles, it pulled me out of the action a bit and I think that Jones should have trusted her heroine a bit more and not gone for the quick save. Jennifer's instincts were all telling her the truth about Des anyway.

Aside from Jennifer and Des' relationship, I really like the way that Jones starts to develop Wes her next at bat hero, she did such a good job showing him bent under the weight of the past as hopelessness slowly overwhelms him that I can't wait for the next book Beast Of Darkness (Silhouette Nocturne)to watch this weary warrior get his own redemption.

A Knight of the White, Des is a bit surprised with his current assignment. He searches for an ancient tome The Journal of Solomon that contains a map that will lead to a treasure chest filled with the names of those whose ancient lineage were angels; normally Des is a warrior in direct fight against the evil of the Darkland Beasts in their millennia old civil war for species control. Knowing he will need help to locate the sacred journal Des turns to the Dallas World Museum curator Jessica Montgomery for help in finding the treasure before the enemy obtains it.

Her mother ignored her and her family in a futile lifetime quest to find the ancient journal. She wants to tell him to forget it as it is not worth the time, but Jessica is attracted to the enigmatic Des so decides to assist him on his quest to learn why he is interested in this tome and how he knew she was the right staff person to enlist. As they fall in love, he knows he is just a beast with a soul that could turn dark at any moment and thus unworthy of the angelic daughter of a senator.

The latest Knights of White tale (see THE BEAST WITHIN) is a terrific romantic fantasy starring two courageous heroes falling in love while on a dangerous quest with their enemies in hot pursuit as both studies understand what The Journal of Solomon means. The story line is fast-paced and filled with non-stop action as the danger mounts so does the attraction. Readers will appreciate Lisa Renee Jones' latest thriller.

Having read Lisa Renee Jones' "The Beast Within" (the first in the Knights of White series), I was looking forward to reading the next book. I was NOT disappointed! "Beast of Desire" was fast, intriguing and of course, tells more of the story from the Knights of White point of view. Des has been walking the fine line between going bad for so long and doesn't think he's worthy of the woman who will bring him the beast within him and his humanity together. Boy was he wrong as Jessica IS his perfect mate. I would definitely recommend this book. Can't wait for the next book in the series to come out!

Museum curator Jessica Montgomery carries on her late mother's almost desperate interest in an ancient journal, not fully understanding her mother's dogged determination in searching for it. When Des from the Knights of White appoints himself Jessica's protector, she is even more confused, not understanding the darkness that threatens her. The Darkland Beasts want this journal to carry out their own evil intentions, and will stop at nothing to get it, just as the Des and the other knights are willing to die trying to keep Jessica and the journal safe. It turns out that the connection between Des and Jessica and the journal runs much deeper than either of them could have imagined.
Des, like all of the Knights of White, has just enough beast in him to make him fear losing control. There is an immediate attraction between Des and Jessica, but his reluctance to completely let go when he's with her is troubling. When all of the pieces fall into place and it begins to look like Jessica is his intended mate, Des has some monumental decisions to make. The biggest of which is whether he can get past the notion that he doesn't deserve someone like Jessica.
I have enjoyed the first two books in this series very much and I feel confident in recommending them. While they are satisfying reads by themselves, I can't help but feel that they will be enjoyed much more if read in order, starting with THE BEAST WITHIN.

Jessica Montgomery, as a curator for a big museum, is nervous. The museum she works for has discovered a highly sensitive historical document; the same document her mother spent years of her life trying to find. This document contains information that the Darkland Beasts want and information which the Knights of White must protect at any cost. Though Jessica doesn't know what is in the journal, she is very familiar with the information and facts her mother told her. Regardless, Jessica isn't sure that she believes in ancient Knights and dark beasts intent upon killing humans throughout the world.

Des has been sent by his leader, Jag, to find the Journal of Solomon. It seems the journal contains information that could affect future generations of humans. Since the Knights of White has sworn to protect the human race at any cost, it is imperative that Des find and steal that journal before the Darkland Beasts. His plan? Find and earn the trust of one Jessica Montgomery, the daughter of the woman who spent years trying to find the box mentioned in the journal. It will be an uphill battle between good and evil because the Darkland Beasts have help this time in the form of Jessica's nemesis.

Jessica and Des are attracted to each other immediately at first sight. Des readily believes that he is not worthy of a woman such as Jessica. Though he fights his attraction and desire for her, he knows it is only a matter of time before his inner beast succumbs to the woman that it craves. Unwilling to hurt her, yet unable to leave her alone, Des succumbs and quickly finds that he can't get enough of Jessica. Only when Des is fully able to commit and believe that she is the woman destined to soothe his inner beast will they be truly together.

BEAST OF DESIRE is right! I immediately desired Des upon opening this book. His ability to see situations from all sides while doing his best to be honorable touched me tremendously. Even though he couldn't see it, I could tell what a pure and noble soul he was and his attraction and desire for Jessica showed through on each page. Jessica is a very strong character and to be the mate of Des, she has to be. She is loyal, has fortitude, and is strong enough to stand up to even the foulest of men. They make the perfect pair.

My name is Natasha Smith and I am addicted to this series! With BEAST OF DESIRE, Lisa Renee Jones grabs you, holds you, and with artfully written words and sensuous love scenes hot enough to melt even the most frozen of hearts, she weaves a timeless love story between two truly deserving characters. Then, on top of that, she leaves you hanging with just enough suspense that as a reader I am simply dying to read the third installment, BEAST OF DARKNESS. BEAST OF DESIRE is definitely a five blue ribbon read! ***Natasha Smith for Romance Junkies***

Kayden Gray, a half-vampire, hunts the things that go bump in the night with her annoying partner, Micah. The pair fight each other, vying for the upper hand in their relationship, as they hunt evil. Their sexual tension is palpable, even though they both deny it--at first.

The story starts with the pair arguing. As they engage in their spat, they are overcome by a succubus. One, two, three, the pair find themselves in bed. As fun as the sex is, there's a downside. The succubus feeds on their sexual energy and plans to use it to become human and acquire a soul. On top of all this, Kayden's Ex, Jullian, comes to town ready to re-claim her.

The characters are interesting and keep the reader engaged. It is erotic, funny and action-packed. Check it out, it is a fun read.

Kayden is a demon hunter, with a vampire ex-lover, and now has a partner who is a pain in her backside.
Micah is a demon hunter with a dark past that he can't get over and now finds himself looking out for Kayden who he seems to hate for all the feelings she makes him feel.
While out demon hunting the two come across a succubus, now they can't keep their hands off each other. With the help of family, they are trying to find the succubus to remove whatever kind of magic she has put upon Micah and Kayden before it kills them. But that isn't their only problem. Kaydens ex, the vampire, is back in town causing problems. Can Kayden and Micah pull through all the supernatural bull**** and remain in love, or is it too much to overcome.
Bending to Break was my first AJ Hampton book, but it is definitely not my last. I look forward to future reads from her and I would suggest checking out her other titles.

I absolutely love this book! I was a fan of AJ Hampton before this book, and I'm a fan now. I've read fantasy books where I can't relate to the characters at all, or everything seems impossible, but AJ makes her characters so real and relatable. Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down. I can't wait to see what else AJ comes out with!

Diana Reyes is an FBI agent in search of a sadistic killer who brutally tortures his victims before dumping their bodies. While staking out a club in search for the killer, Diana sees club owner Ryder Latimer, an enigmatic man with whom she instantly shares chemistry. Diana's not looking for a relationship though - not only is Ryder initially considered to be a suspect in the murders, but Diana refuses to get too close to any man. After losing her father in a drive-by shooting as a teen, Diana knows the pain of losing someone you love more than life, and she reasons that if she stays away from emotional attachments, she'll avoid the pain that inevitably comes with them.

Ryder Latimer had seen her in his dreams, and there she was right before him. She is forbidden, though - she is a living, breathing woman, and he is a vampire. After being attacked by a roving band of vampires during the Civil War, Ryder has been one of them, and he knows that involving himself with a mortal woman could unleash his darkest impulses. Still, Diana is too desirable to dismiss from his thoughts, but if she learns the truth about him, will she hate him?

This book was pretty good, and unusual because of the vampire element. The tension between the two main characters was incredible, as they both fought against their desire for the other. I also enjoyed the fact that the heroine was a latina like myself. The only thing I didn't get with the book was the ending, it seemed a bit too abrupt and left me wondering exactly what had happened. I can't describe it in detail or I'd give away the ending, but I was left a bit confused.

I would like to see another story that includes Diana and Ryder as secondary characters someday in the future. Perhaps some of the secondary characters in this book could have their own story. Altogether, this book was definitely interesting and unique, and I look forward to reading more stories from this author.

Normally I don't read vampire stories, but I decided to give this book a try and I'm glad I did. Everything about this book was excellent---all the life-like characters, a 'gutsy' heroine and a 'tortured' hero, a realistic suspense plot that did not overwelm the rest of the book and a very passionate, heartwarming 'forbidden love'story. Sometime in the future it would be great to meet up again the Diane and Ryder to see how they're doing. I will definitely read another book by this author.

A rocking good vamp tale

Rocking good Vampire story. Caridad Pineiro penned Darkness Calls, a modern day vampire tale, that is so enjoyable! She has a refreshing natural voice that lends well to her tale of a female agent on the track of a serial killer. Believe it, I
will be watching for more from this talent writer.

FBI Agent Diana Reyes, had always been trouble with night terrors, but hidden it well from her family growing, hid it from her partner. She is a tough as nails, by the book agent, determined to stop a killer viciously killing women who frequented a club called The Lair. But she is not prepared for meeting Ryder Latimer, the owner of the nightclub, when she offers herself up for bait in the FBI investigation.

Their paths cross on her first night as bait, sensing the man even before she comes face to face with him. Knowing he might be a suspect, she tries to keep her instant attraction hidden. But Ryder won't let her back away from it. For too long, Ryder
has seen her in his dreams. He yearns to grow closer to Diana, the woman who has haunted him for years, but fears an FBI agent will not quite be so accepting of his "little secret". He is a vampire. However, as Diana begins to share his dreams, there may be no hiding his secret from her. Together Ryder and Diana must stop the killer close to Ryder, and must learn to trust each other, come what may.

Pineiro delivers up a good tale with a touch of humor, strong characters and a well developed plot guaranteed to please all readers, but especially vamp fans.

What can I say? This book was great from the first page to the last!! I loved Bix and Carin. He was H-O-T!!! She was smart, and drama-free. The story was wonderful. The sex/love scenes - well, I'm breathless just thinking about them (LOL). The characters had great interaction and chemistry. There was a solid segway into the 2nd book of the series.
If vampires are like Bix, then sign me up to receive one!!

Carinian's Seeker

Beauty, brains and spunk are only a few of the traits that pass down through the genetics of Dr. Derrickson's family. What Carinian's family doesn't pass along is the chance to live a long life. Having most of her family die at young ages from one ailment or another has turned Carinian's sole focus in life to the research of gene therapy and the chance to combat what she knows to be an early demise in her future. Using the fables of vampire myths as her guide, Carinian attempts to create the equivalent of vampirism to save herself. In comes Jon Bixler, a Seeker for the Vampire Council of Ethics, whose mission is to find a rogue vampire by using Carinian any way he sees fit. Bix's uncontrollable emotions where she's concerned soon leads to another discovery; that the mouthy doctor is more than just a ways to a means, she's also his fated mate.

Talk about your untypical vampire story. Using a little urban flair, with an off brand sense of humor, T.J. Michaels creates a captivating story that had me laughing all the way through. In Carinian's Seeker, Carin, a feisty female doctor that has more brains than brawn, but enough heart to make up for her lack of physical power. I almost spit out my milk when, in the heat of a battle, she said how she wasn't a "punk b*tch". The last thing I expected, but just the right attitude for a woman whose vampire lover is pure alpha and all male. Bix, her vampire assassin, was just the right blend of controlling yet loving hero. Vulnerable when it comes to his woman, but still invincible in the heat of battle.

I found Carinian's Seeker to be a light read with arousing sensuality and plenty of action. I'm really looking forward to a follow-up story featuring Bix's best friend and a few of the other Seekers who I'm sure will be just as exciting to read about.

Carinian is a scientist minding her own experiments when Jon Bixler, or Bix as he prefers, begins to pursue her. She doesn't know it, but he's a vampire, she's his target, and things are about to get very complicated. There's a rogue vampire on the loose, and Bix thinks Carin can help him track her down and figure out exactly how he's trying to change vampire DNA. But the closer Bix and Carin get, the hotter things get. He's thinking forever, which for a vamp is a very long time. Carin is just hoping to get through this fling without having her heart broken so she can continue her experiments into prolonging her lifespan and break the long chain of early deaths in her family. But there's more surprises around the corner than either of them know.

Carin and Bix are both really strong characters. The brains and the brawn, respectively. But Carin is no pushover, and you like that about her immediately. Bix is sexy and alpha and very determined to make Carin come around to his way of thinking when it comes to their combustive relationship. The sex is hot! And the cast of supporting characters very cool. I predict that everyone will be clamoring for Alaan's book next.

Sarael's Reading:
When Sarael's tarot cards are read it is revealed that she will meet the man she was destined to be with. Unknowing to Sarael, she was born to be the bride of a vampire and her mate has come to make his claim.

Kiziah's Reading:
Fane and Cable were introduced during Sarael's story as male lovers. When Fane becomes a full vampire his need for a bride is too strong to ignore. Unwilling to lose what they have found together they struggle with Fane's urges. When Cable meets Kiziah he realizes They may be able to have the best of both worlds.

Dakota's Reading:
Domino has been mentioned in both previous stories. He is notorious for not intending to take a bride but when the change comes over him and he realizes that a bride is exactly what he wants and Dakota is the woman for him.

***I thought all three stories were good, but the 2nd one was the best (it was a unique 3 way love triangle which I found simply irresistable) and I wish it were a full length novel. The book basically follows 3 characters who have their tarot cards read by the same woman at the carnival. Each reading brings the character closer to their mate. This book throws a whole new light on werewolves/vampires way of life not to mention its very steamy. This is definately a unique read. I thought the stories flowed well together to create 1 great story with 3 different tales. I do recommend this book and I will be reading more of Jory's work.

Kiziah's Reading:

Cable Luske and Fane Mercier are a couple and are totally content with
each other. There are just two problems. One, Fane is nearing his
vampire Transformation, and it is frowned upon to take a mate of the
same sex. Secondly, Cable's family is doing everything they can to keep
the lovers apart, often resorting to kidnapping and caging Cable. After
much agonizing and soul searching, Fane sends Cable to put in an order
for a kadine, or vampire wife. Cable, thinking that Fane no longer
loves and wants him, reluctantly sets out to do Fane's bidding. While
Cable is gone, the Transformation comes upon Fane and he becomes a
full-fledged vampire.

Cable loves Fane deeply and doesn't want to lose him. He knows,
however, that he doesn't have a choice in the matter... or does he? The
decision is taken out of Cable's hands by fate when he sees beautiful,
blond Kiziah after a tarot card reading at the carnival and then in a
coffee shop all alone. As luck would have it, he is immensely
attracted to Zia, as she is to him, and they end up making passionate
love all night. The next morning, they make tentative plans to spend
the day together but Cable can't leave things the way they are with
Fane. He promises to return to her the next morning. However, plans
change when Cable's family locks him up so that Fane is unable to reach
him. There is only one person who can save him, and Fane goes in
search of her.

Kiziah Stillwell is so tired of being alone. When Cable asks to sit
with her in the coffee shop, she decides to ignore the warnings in her
head and just have fun. What she doesn't expect is to fall so deeply
for Cable in so short of time. After their night of passionate, tender
sex, Kiziah is surprised that Cable wants to spend more time with her.
However, she knows that he will never be truly hers unless he and Fane
come to grips with their relationship. With this in mind, she sends
Cable home to his male lover.

Kiziah is surprised later in the day to come face to face with Fane. He
knows Kiziah is his only hope in freeing Cable. He enthralls and
seduces Kiziah, beginning a bond with her. Fane then sends her to
Cable's family's estate to find Cable. At this point, Cable has the
proof he needs to be with both Kiziah and Fane forever. And this is
when the real danger starts!

Books like Kiziah's Reading epitomize the reasons why I continue to
read books penned by Jory Strong. It was strongly written with just
the right amount of suspense. I could feel the tenderness and love of
the three characters. I fell in love with both Fane and Cable, and
Kiziah was a perfect fit for these two forceful, hard-loving men.

To say that I enjoyed this book would be an understatement. Kiziah's
Reading kept me enthralled from page one until the very last word. I
loved this book tremendously and anxiously await Jory Strong's third
Carnival Tarot book, Dakotah's Reading. It also goes without saying
that I highly recommend this book to any reader. The relationship
between Fane, Cable and Kiziah is forceful, hot, and tender. As a
final note--just in case Cable and Fane are reading this, I have plenty
of veins they can use as a backup if Kiziah ever needs a break!

Dakotah's Reading:

Dakotah Flemming's intuition is kicking in and she knows that she needs
to move. She feels herself becoming complacent and that could get her
captured, so she needs to be on her guard at all times. After having
her cards read by the carnival psychic, Dakotah can no longer deny her
feelings. Hating what she has become, but unable to deny the wolf
inside her, Dakotah knows that she needs to run just one more time
before she leaves. So she sets off for the forest.

Dhampir Domino Santori longs to deny what he smells, but can no longer
keep his wolf at bay. He sets off for the forest behind Dakotah. When
Dakotah sees him and turns belly up, he knows he has found his mate.
When she wants to leave him the next morning, Domino is hurt, but
rationalizes that it's just Dakotah's scent that arouses him, so
doesn't mean she is his mate. Plans go awry when The Transformation
comes upon him suddenly and he has to get to safety. In order to do
that, this non-trusting man has to depend on Dakotah.

With the help of Domino's friends Cable and Fane, Dakotah gets Domino
home. Once Domino is fully vampire, there is no denying that he knows
what he wants and he wants Dakotah Flemming. The fact that she is
being hunted by a pack of rogue wolves doesn't even stop him for a
second.

Dakotah's Reading by Jory Strong, book 3 of the Carnival Tarot Series,
is totally different from the other books in tone, story, and
characters. I love how Jory Strong has written the characters together
in each of the books, but each hero and heroine is unique. Dakotah is
strong and used to taking care of herself. It is hard for her to trust
and depend on someone else. Domino surprised me. In prior books, he
seemed so self-assured and so adamant that he didn't want a kadine.
Well, time changes all things and evidently his mind was changed when
he ran into Dakotah. Since Domino was happy, I was happy!

With Dakotah's Reading, once again Jory Strong has written a perfectly
wonderful novel that kept me spellbound from beginning to end. I find
myself going back and re-reading this and her other Carnival Tarot
books often. I can only hope that there are more characters for her to
write about. Dakotah's Reading is erotic, fast moving, and just
delightful. When I read the last word, I was so satisfied. Great job,
Ms. Strong!

Three stories interwoven with the same characters. Three women get tarot card readings which lead them to their loves.
This book deals with alpha vampire males seeking out their true mates.
Story one- Matteo has to use all his powers to claim Sarael.
Story two- Fane has to take a wife but does not want to lose his lover Cabel. Can he figure out a way to have both in his life forever.
Story three- Domino has no intentions on taking a wife but when he sees Dakotah turn into her wolf form his wolf inside him says different.

This book is a super novella. Well worth any price paid. Very steamy, with a murder plot brewing in the background. The males are 100% alpha but the females are not pushovers either. This book is very erotic and borders on X-treme, definitly what I expect out of Ellora's Cave authors.
You will not be disappointed.

Maddie Smith is a clairvoyant and a pyrokinetic. She is living in isolation after the death of her abusive husband in a fire that she started. Jon Barnet is a member of the Damask Circle. He is trying to catch the murderer of a number of teenagers, left drained of all blood in a rural area. Maddie's nephew Evan is the next victim and Jon needs her help to find him.

I really enjoyed this shapeshifter romance. The characters were very well developed and the plot moved quickly. Good series.

I'm not a big fan of paranormal romance books, but I do like Keri Arthur. She is mostly known for her excellent Nikki James and Michael Kelly series. A series I love. With Circle Of Fire she starts a new series--more fabulous paranormal stories. This time involving the members of the Damask Circle, an organization that sees its members, all of them extraordinary in one way or another, fight super-natural evil.

Madeline Smith and Jon Barnett are two characters with extraordinary talents. The one a shapeshifter and a loner out of necessity, the other a clairvoyant and a recluse out of choice. Brought together to solve the mystery behind the disappearance of teenagers in the small town of Taurin Bay, they not only have to face their own insecurities but also have to deal with their sizzling attraction and the search for the victims and their perpetrators.

Circle Of Fire is light entertainment. Perfect to while away a few spare hours. It's not demanding but fun. It's a lot like going on one of those big fun-fair rides. It has its slow build up but then it goes fast, fast, fast. You are sure to be screaming and laughing. Can't wait to read Circle Of Death.

A fabulous paranormal romance

Maddie Smith has been hiding out... in fear of her unusual abilities to start fires with a thought and what she can do with them. Ever since she accidentally killed her late husband, she's been terrified she'll kill someone else. When a vision comes to her one evening, begging her help, she has no desire to follow, but something draws her out.

Jon Barnett, a shape shifter, is shot and left for dead by an enemy with grand plans. Children have been disappearing from their homes leaving no trace, but Jon knows the perpetrator has to be someone with old magic. The only link between these children is Taurin Bay, where all the victims had visited shortly before their disappearances. Something led Jon to Maddie for help, and if he can't convince her to save him, all will be lost.

When Maddie's nephew, Evan, disappears, she knows there is only one way to get answers... the ghostly vision who begged her to save him. She answers his call, never expecting what she finds. Now Maddie is sucked in to the cosmic battle of good and evil to save Evan. As she draws closer to Jon through their search for Evan and the person controlling the dark forces, her control over her abilities, always shaky at best, grows weaker and she fears what will happen. Jon can help her understand her abilities but will he get the chance? What of the tender new love sparking between them?

Circle of Fire was not the first book by Keri Arthur this reviewer has read, but it was enough to make her a permanent fan. This story has it all... danger, intrigue, magic, passion, and romance. The storyline unfolds at a steady pace, climbing and falling as one follows along in its wake. Magic, which plays a very important role in everything, is sure to delight fans of the paranormal. There are a couple plot twists thrown in to shock readers as well, which only add to the heightened level of suspense in the novel.

Maddie starts out as a woman of great fear, who prefers hiding in isolation to interacting with others. Jon's appearance in her life forces her to come out of her cocoon of doubt, blossoming into the beautiful and confident woman she was meant to be. Her growth as a person is central to the story, for her confidence comes from everything she has to face to save Evan. Jon is also alone in his self-imposed exile from personal relationships, convinced nothing is more important than his work, which would be hindered by emotional ties. Watching him come to care for Maddie, and reach his own peak of self-discovery will cause readers to sigh with happiness as he finally comes around.

Conspiracy of Angels

I've read Conspiracy of Angels by Zinnia Hope twice. It is one of the few books you'll read in your lifetime where the characters become so real you'll refer back to things they've said or how they would think of a situation.

The romance will make you jealous and long to have a love that devoted, yet it's not fake or flattery. The characters portray their flaws and are busy struggling with their own issues. Zinnia has "crafted" a story that is more real-life than fiction in many ways.

The first time I read it, I thought the first chapter or preamble was very different from the book and a bit difficult to get through, later I understood why she used that technique to set apart a previous part of the heroine's life. Once you get into the story, you won't want to put it down, even to use the bathroom.

There is mystery, puzzles to unravel, the sizzling hot promise of sex, if these two people ever get together, and a slight paranormal presence that provides the conspiracy here.

All I can say about the book is that it is excellent and that people who love red hot will love it, yet it's clean enough for a younger audience, or a Christian reader.

The surprises at the end will tickle you pink too! I can't reveal it all, but I will say "What are you waiting for??? BUY the BOOK!!!"

Zinnia Hope gives a refreshing story of love, hurt, and achievement with a little help from above. The story is fictional but has many aspects in the lives of the characters which are definitely realistic. Having lived and survived in a small town, I know that Zinnia has painted the judgmental actuality of one. Her character struggles, like many unwed mothers, yet she never ever gives up which shows her strength and ambition. Her inner struggle to keep her secret and face the consequences or keep all a secret is universal to most women. I highly suggest this read to anyone who feels as if life is overwhelming, and to all who wish to have an intriguing read which draws the reader into the book and "roots" for the underdog. Zinnia is a great new writer who is an inspiration to all. I look forward to reading her next book!

Conspiracy of Angels is a fresh novel that radiates from its heart, shining with enthusiasm and insight of perceptive new author Zinnia Hope. I greatly enjoyed C of A's upbeat ambience, and the drama kept me smiling and guessing all the way to the last page. Bravo!

Our protagonist, Elizabeth, a once tender hearted young woman who has been beaten up a bit on life's journey, has learned when to stand her ground and when to push ahead. Nevertheless, after she returns to her hometown with son Alex to help her grandmother open a restaurant, the opposition Elizabeth encounters from former adversaries seems insurmountable. Moreover, she meets resistance of her own making concerning her old boyfriend Daniel... or should I specify "mental" resistance of her own, as the mere sight of Daniel sets her mutinous heart to pulsing and her seditious passion to simmering.

Although you won't find any Montagues or Capulets, readers might enjoy the Shakespearean flavor of the skeletons that lurk in Elizabeth's and Daniel's family closets. Are Elizabeth and Daniel truly star-crossed lovers who will end up like Romeo and Juliet? Or will they discover and surmount these secrets that their families harbor?

Elizabeth's grandmother manages to maintain a tight lip regarding the past, but Daniel's father, George, is quite vocal in his disdain for Elizabeth and her dearly-departed mother. Methinks George doth protest too much. As if these obstacles weren't enough, Elizabeth must cope with Charlie Deeds, a despicable and dangerous drunk who was once chums with Elizabeth's mother. Charlie seems to think Elizabeth owes him something, and he doesn't mind using his superior physical strength--and a little physical abuse, if necessary--to collect.

You'll meet some captivating characters in Conspiracy of Angels, and a few will surprise you; not with TV turnarounds, but with real character growth and development. And while devilish romance finds its way into many of the pages of this feisty novel, a few angels hover in the background throughout to keep a divine balance.

C of A is subtle and clever; never over the top, yet never quite what you'd expect, either. The story is well crafted by a talented artist. Zinnia Hope doesn't tease, but certainly understands how to entice the reader to come along for an entertaining ride.

I thoroughly enjoyed the trip.

I'm a huge fan of Zinnia Hope's work -- have been ever since I first read her fiction in our writers group. But CONSPIRACY OF ANGELS is nothing like her usual steamy, sexy stories; indeed, ANGELS is much more profound, and in many ways, much more daring. She makes some strong accusations about Christians who use religion as both a weapon against others and a shield to protect them against judgment...and yet, at its core, ANGELS is truly an inspirational story about redemption, love, and second chances.

It is indeed a conspiracy of angels. Elizabeth has much to work out in her life. Old secrets, new beginnings. The thing is, her new beginnings involve her old secrets, and we follow her on her journey of trying to come to terms with everything unravelling, when she'd hoped to keep things locked inside.
The plot thickens, other characters add suspicion and intrigue to the mix, and I ended up wishing the best for Elizabeth, despite past hurts. A thoroughly enjoyable book!

Okay, so they spelled Stephen King's name wrong on the cover. So, what? If found this book fascinating and entertaining at the same time. It is filled with stories by famous authors, both past and present. The one that sticks out the most is Ramsey Campbell's "The Nearest to a Ghost." He goes to the cemetery to scatter his mother's ashes and feels a powerful sense of grief that isn't his own. The feeling vanishes after a moment, his own grief returning. Creepy, huh? This is one of about thirty true-life experiences these people came face-to-face with. A great read.

This is my first book of Bonnie Vanak's, but it won't be my last! The Empath was even better than I expected after reading the back blurb. It's been in my TBR pile and now I just wish I'd picked it up sooner! Maggie and Nicholas are a hot, engaging couple that you just want to see triumph over everything. Maggie was so sweet, literally unable to kill a fly in the beginning, I fell in love with her from the start! I think one of the reviewers said this was Ms. Vanak's first book w/ Nocturne, and if it is, I hope it isn't her last!!

The Morphs and the Draicon detest one another as they differ when it comes to the third sentient species on the planet. The Morphs are shapeshifters who believe humans are beneath them on the food chain whereas the Draicon werewolves believe all life is sacred.

Draicon werewolf Nicolas Keenan learns that the Morphs threaten his soulmate, a Draicon veterinarian Dr. Maggie Sinclair, who thinks she is human. He races to Florida to keep her safe, but she rejects him as being a lunatic. Her belief systems changes when the evil shapeshifting Morphs attack her and Nicolas saves her life. As she realizes who she is and who he is to her, they team up in love to fight for their lives.

The key to this paranormal romantic suspense fantasy is the belief that the Draicon and Morph are genuine species who are in a shapeshifters' civil war. Nicolas and Maggie are interesting lead characters whose relationship morphs (a bad action verb for this couple) from her assuming he is crazy to joining him in love and safety. Fans will appreciate Bonnie Vanak's engaging thriller as her world is a dangerous place to live let alone fall in love.

Step inside a new world, where werewolves and magic collide....

Nicholas Keenan has a duty to his pack, the same pack from which he is considered an outcast. As a Draicon werewolf warrior, Nicholas is charged with finding the pack's lost empathy and bringing her home. After all, only can THE EMPATH defeat the menace to the Draicon, the deadly Morphs (shape shifters) who have infected the pack leader, Damian. However, THE EMPATH is veterinarian Maggie Sinclair, a woman who has sworn to not kill a single living soul. In fact, Maggie doesn't even realize she is a Draicon! How will these two very different individuals handle the love that grows between them? Will Maggie's return defeat the Morphs? And just what other secrets will be uncovered?

What a powerful tale! Bonnie Vanak delivers an emotionally charged tale that has the perfect balance of plot and passion. Her writing is exquisite as the deep emotional turmoil of the characters simmers throughout this fascinating werewolf story. I could feel Maggie's anguish at being forced into inflicting violence while Nicholas' loneliness was piercing in its intensity.

The Morphs provided an interesting twist to the storyline. Their powers gave me the shivers as the image of the ants is one that will haunt my nightmares for quite awhile! However, the Morphs are not the only twist in this story as Bonnie Vanak has some surprises in store for her readers. A sequel is obviously intended as there are a few loose threads that I cannot wait to see resolved.

THE EMPATH is a sensuous and heartbreakingly beautiful tale that is sure to be loved by paranormal readers. Bonnie Vanak takes the werewolf legends and shapes them into her own stunning mythology. Bravo, Ms. Vanak, and keep the stories coming!

Nicholas was the greatest Draicon (werewolf) warrior until he did the unspeakable - teach a mortal how to use magic. Now he is banished from his pack, forced to survive on his own against the Morphs, evil shape shifters who have corrupted their natural magic into something dark and twisted. However, Nicholas is given one chance to redeem himself... he must find the pack's long missing empath and return her to their home in New Mexico so she can save their dying pack leader. If he fails, he will never be allowed to return.

Maggie Sinclair is a veterinarian who has sworn to only heal, never kill, all that need her help. When her beloved dog and companion falls deathly ill from an unknown disease, Maggie will do anything to save her. She has no clue that she is the woman destined to save the Draicon and destroy the Morphs once and for all. All she has are strange visions that haunt her... blood, lots of blood, and an odd feeling there is something else within her skin.

When Nicholas finds Maggie, he knows immediately she is his draicara, his mate, and will do anything to protect her. First he must teach her about what she is and what she can do, in spite of her resistance to the tasks set before her. However, the Morphs have found her as well, and their one mission is to destroy her before she can kill them. Is the love between Maggie and Nicholas enough to overcome their secrets and fears in time?

Bonnie Vanak's first Nocturne, and her first paranormal, will delight readers. She has taken the usual werewolf concept and altered, or dare I say, "Morphed" it into her very own. (Yes I know the Morphs are the bad guys, but I couldn't resist the play on words...) The origin of the Draicon is quite different from traditional werewolf lure as well though I don't want to say anything to give away how they came to be. Then there is the fascinating deviation of the Morphs from Draicon and how they came to be what they are. We definitely have an appealing society found within the pages of The Empath.

I was a little bit jarred initially however by the definition of am empath in Draicon society. The basis for what an empath is is similar to what I've always thought of when I heard the term, but it is also very different. I personally wouldn't have chosen that term for what Maggie is, but that is part of the beauty of this book and is why Bonnie Vanak is the author, not me. It never would have occurred to me to define some things the way they are here.

Nicholas and Maggie each have the respective secrets they are dreadfully afraid to share. Nicholas fears Maggie would hate him if she knew his darkest mysteries and Maggie is afraid to confront her own demons. These fears make it very difficult for them to bond the way true mates do in Draicon society and therefore complicates things when it comes to fighting the Morphs. The gradual dissolution of the walls between them provides for a wonderful love story. It made me all the more thrilled when the last vestiges of separation fall away and they truly come together.

There are plenty of surprises found in The Empath as well. Granted, a couple of them I figured out pretty quickly, but Bonnie did get me with a couple of the stunning revelations. Probably the greatest one was discovering the true nature of Nicholas' crimes against the pack. I was floored by that one and a little bit angry as well, since I felt so awful for Nicholas having to suffer as much as he did for what happened. However, this huge surprise opens new doors as well, or rather, new books to come, since some of the Draicon involved in this greatest twist are obviously begging for their stories to be told. Bonnie, that means I'm begging too... I'd love to see what became of these people I can't decide if I should love or hate. So here's to hoping we don't have long to wait for another brilliant story from the mind of Bonnie Vanak.

I was disappointed in the last book of this trilogy. It fell flat for me. It seemed to be hurriedly written without much thought put into it. I was intrigued with the world of vampires, genies, gargoyles and dragons that had been created and was enjoying the story. Too bad that this last book was lacking. That is, in my so humble opinion.

Five Old Races negotiator Margrit Knight has macro and micro worries. The big issue is war is imminent between the five Old Races and in spite of her vocation she feels helpless to prevent it. Making matters more complex for the lawyer is the micro concerns that are personal to her though not on the grand scale of the war. Her lover Alban Korund the gargoyle is incarcerated and her family and friends, so innocently human, are expendable pawns.

As she tries to negotiate a peaceful settlement, obtain Alban's release and keep the troubles from harming her loved ones, she feels all alone. However, she has met three questionable associates who on the one hand want to help her, but also two of them seem to have hidden agendas that might prove deadly to Margrit. Janx the dragon is angry and acrimonious as he wants return to the soaring highest of his species running a major underworld criminal activity not live in a hovel underground and Eliseo Daisani the billionaire vampire feels slighted as he dreams of biting respect. Finally the NYPD detective thinks gang warfare on the streets of the city is out of control. Adding to Margrit's woes the paranormal pair appears to look forward to the war.

The third Negotiator urban fantasy is a fast-paced, action-packed tale with spins and twists that make Broadway look like Lombard St. Margrit is courageous, perhaps too much so, as she dives head first into one dangerous mess after another with three goals to fuel her adrenaline: prevent the war, liberate her daytime HEART OF STONE lover, and keep her family safe even as she sees her world collapsing like a HOUSE OF CARDS. HANDS OF FLAME is an engaging tale that sub-genre fans will enjoy.
