Easy to read, easy to understand what else can you ask. The previous reviewer did not give an honest review, all wrong information. Unfortunately the author has many jealous counter writers will do evils which include accusing other reviewers using fake names, see what money can make some writers do. lol

Remote Viewing refers to the attempt to gather information about a distant or unseen target using paranormal means or extra-sensory perception. Typically a remote viewer is expected to give information about an object that is hidden from physical view and separated at some distance.

This book delievers. It is not all like previous reviewer wrote, the person is not telling the true, the person could be counter part writer of this author. The book has step by step information. Could not believe it is so easy, and reading friendly book. It is recommended.

The keeper.

There are reasons why this book is a keeper, because it works. There are many remote viewing books on the market, but how many actually work? My secret is... check how many buyers bought the book and trying to re-sell the book, this will tell you how good is the book. This book is a keeper for generations. I place mine in the safe. So, you have to "remote view" to find this book of mine.

I bought tons of paranormal books, none of the books as easy read as this author's books. If you are well read enough, you should be able to notice...the British and American, they write differently in term of grammar style. When you get on the British air, you will find the flight magazine has tons of grammar mistakes (by American standard), but when the British reading American airline magazines, they accused us... "American does not know how to write," it is the same thing. This book as far as I am concern, there are no grammar mistakes, it depends on which country you come from. If you really care about the grammar, you should get a grammar book, not this book. What I like about Sapphire's books, he is genuine, he does not hide anything from you, he leads you step by step. Best of all, you get to practice and be very successful with the instructions from this book. The result is almost instant.
What I treasure about this book, author is willing to share his knowledge and pass it on to all readers. That is a very precious gift to all of us. Author claims he is a god, so be it. With the abilities like his, it is really equal to a god. Read his forum, he is helping the astrals from all over the world, like the Burma victims and China earthquake victims. Who has these powers to prepare their afterlife in astral--> Sapphire. I have another book by the same author, "The Secrets of Death: In the view of astral projection." This book is a "must" read, will rattle you to the bone. And I am able to distant view my passed away parents, thanks to the author.

Bravo to authors Tracey Stevens and Kathy Wunder. How To Be A Happy Lesbian: A Coming Out Guide is truly a worthwhile read for women of any age who are questioning or coming to terms with being lesbian or bisexual. Every aspect of life is covered......everything from how to know whether or not one is lesbian or bi, sex, safe sex, how to handle discrimination, how to choose a therapist if needed, dealing with issues of abuse, just living daily life, and much, much more. The chapter on communication was outstanding. This book is written with warmth, honesty and humor. I don't think any woman could read A Coming Out Guide and not feel a greater sense of respect and pride for herself.

The subjects covered and the information are good not only for those just coming out but for those who have been out for a while. And also helpful for friends and family that are caring and wanting to know what their loved one is facing and going through.

In addition more information for lesbians is given on their website amazingdreamspublishing.com
Tracey Stevens has also set up a discussion group, Support For Lesbians Coming Out (SFLCO) that provides confidentiality, respect and support in a safe arena for hundreds of women coming out or just trying to determine where they fit in this sexual continuum.

Kudos to Stevens and Wunder for work well done.

This book is very well written. It is well organized and an easy read. It is clear and concise and very informative. This is a MUST HAVE for any book collection. When I finally admitted I was a lesbian I was confused and had a million questions. This book answered them all. The extensive list of resources alone is worth the purchase price. I have a few chapters I am constantly referring back to. It is great to have all that knowledge at my fingertips. Stevens/Wunder have written the only coming out guide you will ever need.I recommend this book not only to lesbians but to their friends and family as well.

This book not only is for women who are coming out of the closet, but it is also for anyone who wants a real perspective on Lesbians. The writers use real world examples and experiences to the reader and give a candid understanding of Lesbian life. This is an eye opening read for anyone with questions and I am glad it was there for me to pass onto others. Read it even if you're not a lesbian and you will find out what many already know...lesbians are people just like you.

I am not new to the personal development scene. I have used many books, courses, introspection, meditation, ... to create a great life. This includes a great wife (20 years), 4 great kids, my own successful busines, being an author, a well-known speaker, ... Nevertheless, I admit to feeling certain amounts of stress and, I can't say it any better - being out of control. Things happen that I don't like and I sometimes just find myself reacting to them.

What I love about this book is:
* it tells the truth about the phenomenon of being a human being
* it gives some actual practices you can use to help you
* it touches the spiritual part of me that knows connecting to others and helping them is one of my greatest joys

This book is a great book if you are looking on how to manifest what you want in a world that doesn't always seem to be working in the direction you want it to. It gave me insights into both why control was not possible as well as how I could have peace without it. At the same time, it gave me insights into how I can help others. In my family, helping others in my family obviusly aligns with my own needs. In my profession, as an educator, it aligns as well.

How to assist others in meeting their goals while retaining peace if they don't is one benefit of this book. Reminding me I can be great in an out of control world is another.

I highly highly highly recommend this book. It is very near the top of a long list of books I would reccommend.

This is not manipulation

It changed my perspectives!

This book shifted my perspectives about "Control". It's one of those books that I come across once in a while that makes an impact on how I work, think and live.

The title itself was interesting - the power of losing control. Sounds oxymoronic, right? How could anyone gain power by losing control? What I understand now is that there wasn't any power to exercise in the first place. As Caruso wrote, what we really have is an "Illusion of Control". That's the essence of what I learnt -- we DON'T have control of many things in the first place, so we're worrying about noting!

The author doesn't preach or anything. What it did for me was to reframe how I could view the concept of control (or lack of). Subsequently, that changed how I viewed things -- my job, my work, my relationship with my wife. I've become a happier person now, and when I cite things from the book, my friends think I'm some genius. I tell them to read the book. : )

Written by Joe Caruso (cancer survivor, business consultant, speaker, workshop leader, and author of the syndicated column "Cup of Joe"), The Power Of Losing Control: Finding Strength, Meaning, And Happiness In An Out-Of-Control World is a down-to-earth anthology about adapting to, and making the best of, events that are beyond an individual's power to change. Individual chapters cogently address such topics as knowing when to stop beating the proverbial dead horse; the importance of making connections count; the power of faith to stand against fear; and a great deal more. A motivational, practical, and expert assessment of dealing with the hazards of reality, The Power Of Losing Control is confidently recommended for personal self-help, self-improvement reading lists and reference collections.

Help for the inner soul

While the basis of the book deals with the energy consumed on things we have little or no control over, I found far more wisdom than this morsel. From my prospective of the book, what grabbed me most was this insite; We all own images of ourselves based on myths and fears and I own myths about myself that prevent me daily from being the best version of myself at work, home and play. The author does an excellent job of using stories and examples to light a path to self-betterment from within.

Most self-improvement books I have read deal with external processes such as setting priorities and time managment. This book deals with the inner set of beliefs we maintain true that hold us back from being the best version of ourselves. One example: Why do physically abused people choose frienships and partners that continue to abuse them? Answer: Until they change the inner belief that say's I'm not good enough, the cycle will continue.

The book challenged me to differentiate from precept and preception. The author includes exercises that I found very helpful.

This is an extrordinary book, easy to read but challenging to read. It has changed my life. Buy it! Believe that you're worth the $20 investment.

It could change your life.

The Power of Losing Control by Joe Caruso is a book about how the true power of losing control lies in knowing the difference between what you can control, what you can effect, and what you need to accept. When you realize the only person you can change is yourself and stop wasting energy trying to change others you will have more peace and personal satisfaction. Caruso's book gives you an opportunity to experiment with yourself, learn new truths and become more aware of how you can enhance the meaning of your life. He points out how you are the stories you tell yourself and how rewriting your personal driving myths can reshape how you live your life. His book has helpful insights such as the real story of who you are isn't about what happens to you as much as it is about how you interpret it and define what happens. Also the more you repeat the story to yourself the more powerful it becomes and the more you allow the story to determine your behavior and behave as if it were true. My early life illustrates his point. I felt abandoned as a child so I believed I would be abandoned as an adult and I was until I wised up. He says the key to fulfillment is to keep asking, "Is the story I am telling myself serving me?" Caruso's book is packed with other powerful insights and advice: the difference between responding and reacting and a commitment and a decision. Also the 10 ideas and attitudes you need to let go of and the five stages of wisdom. If you use what you read in this book and apply it to the five stages of wisdom it could change your life.

As a holistic physician, I wanted to see how the author made her argument that the increasing number of people with autoimmune disease is due to a toxic environment. She interviewed a number of respected scientific researchers whose research links the various toxins we all have in our body with the diseases that afflict so many people today. I recommend this book for anyone who wants to begin to understand how they may have come down with their illness. The good news is that a educated and committed patient and a physician who looks for the causes of these illnesses can develop treatments that enable healing to occur. The use of pharmaceutical drugs to suppress symptoms of the illness should be temporary because the underlying problem is not being corrected. The toxicity of the drugs is an additional burden on an already dysfunctional body. One take home lesson from the book is that we all can reduce our exposure to toxins by looking for and buying nontoxic body care and home care products.

In my health care practice, I look for the toxins that throw our bodies out of balance as Donna so aptly describes in her book. We live in a sea of chemicals and if a health practitioner chooses to go looking for them, they will find them in a patient's body. Just look around at the average American today. It is obvious the medications that simply treat symptoms are not enough.

It seems so basic to clean up our bodies, our environment. Thank you, Donna, for writing such a comprehensive, truthful book about our state of affairs in health and industry today and its impact on all of us.

Reading this book will open your eyes! Physicians, take note.

In the forward to The Autoimmune Epidemic, Dr. Douglas Kerr, Director of the Johns Hopkins Transverse Myelitis Center, states reading this book is "a necessary first step," but rereading it "is a life-altering event." Be prepared, though, even a first pass through these well-written, meticulously researched pages will force you to look at the world around you in a totally different light.

Donna Jackson Nakazawa has managed to synthesize a complex subject, the explosion of diagnosed autoimmune diseases throughout the Western world, with a writing style that's both informative and riveting, producing what will be looked at as THE clarion call for our entire society to make sweeping changes before it's too late.

Every likely contributor to this epidemic is exposed -- from what industry casually pumps into the environment to what we voluntarily put into our own bodies. Ms. Nakazawa not only explores the possible causes and effects of these influences, she successfully bridges the often arcane medical jargon in an intelligent and effective manner.

Ms. Nakazawa introduces a new term to the lexicon - "autogen" - which will become the watchword for all of us as it refers to those triggers we come in contact with that can send our immune systems into self-destruct mode. Becoming alert to potential external autogens is just one important step in preventing the panoply of autoimmune diseases, though. What we eat, drink, do, even how we think and feel, have possible consequences on our future health.

Curious to know what "the barrel" is and how close your personal one is to overflowing? By the time you finish The Autoimmune Epidemic, you may become sufficiently self-aware to address those factors filling your barrel before your own immune system turns against you. Your health and the health of our future generations depends on direct action by all of us to change the course of the coming (or already arrived) autogen storm. Donna Jackson Nakazawa will remembered as the one who sounded the alarm and hopefully, not too late.

I am, admittedly, a fan of the book because it tells a powerful story of a neighborhood activism in Buffalo, NY, and I was involved in that story in a small way. But the story of folks with undiagnosed autoimmune disease, how this poor, minority community had the strength of will to ask difficult questions, identify scientific collaborators in the local University, and lead a groundbreaking study of lupus incidence is a lesson that bears repeating all across the US. Along with that chapter, Donna Jackson Nakazawa weaves together impressive scientific review, stories of her personal challenges and why it is relevant for patients all across the US, and clearly states key issues for those wanting to know what they suffer from.

On top of that, she identifies recommendations on health and diet.

A powerful book, because it captures a citizen and journalist describing research, citizen action and health recommendations for this rising tide of unknown diseases, that affect everyone around us.

Why so many MS patients? Why is lupus so hard to diagnose? Why do we only measure asthma and cancer, and not other disease rates? Why do we insist on such a burden of proof of problematic diseases in communities? Jackson Nakazawa identifies and tackles tough science and policy questions in a book that cannot be put down.

Scientists, medical professionals, doctors, researchers, community leaders and members, citizen activists, concerned neighbors. You all should read this book.

I am a 35 yr old woman who has multiple sclerosis. My father and my mother's sister have lupus. My father's brother also has ms... and the story goes on. I know in my heart that the environment we have created definitely affects us. This book was suggested to me by a librarian who has rheumatoid arthritis and we got talking. I feel as if this book backs up everything I have been thinking, but goes on in depth explaining why.

I have learned so much from this book. The book thoroughly explains different factors that all add up to why autoimmune disease seems to be so rampant. There is a great explanation of a barrel filling and overflowing, which really makes sense. It seems that things we eat, use, clean with etc., stuff we take for granted everyday combined with the general environment and possibly genetics all add up to autoimmune disease.

I would suggest this to anyone who is interested in learning more about possible causation of autoimmune disease including physicians and family members of the diseased.

I feel empowered after reading this book as there are things that I can change. I hope that with several small changes (and maybe a few big ones) I can make a difference in the course of my disease or at least try to prevent it in my children.

I bought a copy of this wonderful book from a grocery store, of all places. My daughters and I use this book every day as a devotional guide. The virtues are explained in terms simple enough for my 6yo to understand without being "simplistic". The authors also manage to respect and incorporate the faith teachings of major world religions without leaning toward sectarianism, preachiness, or political correctness.

I find my parenting muscles being stretched whenever we pick this guide up for our daily readings.

This book has taught us how to brake the cycle of shame & blame and then shown us a loving/just way to work with kids to change behavior. We all love the book.Have an open mind and do it for a month you will see results right away.

This book is absolutely wonderful ~ just what Baha'u'llah encourages us to be, and the virtues are beautifully explained and great examples are given!! Very clear to understand & practice. Every family should have this book, hands down. Of course, there are more than 52 virtues we all should learn & practice, but in this format, we can read and practice one virtue per week for a year. We make it a game & share our experiences throughout the week. :) It's been incredibly helpful not only to my daughter in giving her the tools to be a kind, loving, compassionate & confident individual, but also successful in any situation life will throw at her. NOT to mention ~ it's been invaluable to me, showing and teaching me virtues I needed to work on so I can be a better example for my daughter as well. Being a parent, there is no greater responsibility than talking the talk, and *walking the walk*!! LOVE IT!!

I got this book because of a recommendation from a friend. She taught pre school, and when she applied "the virtues" to her class, she said that it was like a miracle.

Personally, my children are older, 10,11,12. I have also had awesome results so far! I have learned to see many situations differently, and it has worked! Each time I have had an opportunity to call my kids to a virtue, calmness reigns. When we argue, calling them to the particular virtue that is needed at that time makes sense to children. It also allows them to be in control of the results. I believe that I will be using this book until they are grown.

Someone gave this book to my older brother when he was starting his (subsequently very successful) career in show business maybe 35 years ago. I found it and read it and it was the most motivational and transformational material I had ever encountered. Practicing the very simple exercises helped shape and change my life. Over the course of my life I've read many more sophisticated books by more eloquent and learned writers but none can top the simple truths laid out in this book. It is like the guide book to life. My little book is tanned and falling apart but I will treasure it forever. If there was a ghost writer it was more of a ghost co-writer because Mr. Koran's input is clear, throughout. I wish everyone who needs this magic could find it as I did.

Mimic him, Most jealous people say something becuase they are envious but merely mimic him. I have great respect for the power he bless me with. And i know that sometime in my life if he is still around.. i will meet him. I agree with the other reviews of this book. I first read it when it came out in the 70s. I was then at a very low ebb in my life, unemployed, recovering from a devastatingly unhappy love-affair and extremely pessimistic. I became gripped by the style and content, especially as I remember watching Al Koran's stage act on TV in the 1950s.
I practised the suggestions in the book as at the time I had nothing to lose! No job, no money, no girl-friend, no success, no prospects, nothing! Within 6 months I secured the best-paid job I have ever had(but it wasn't at first) and for the next 8 years the money just went up and up without any effort on my part. In other ways, too, my life was successful and only at the end of the 70s when the recession came in for most people, did it falter. I still use the tips in his book and can confirm that they do work. I am NOT religious - in fact, very anti-religious but it is a fact that belief not scepticism is the only thing that works miracles. Thank you Al Koran(and your ghost-writer). You saved me from a miserable and negative life. I have a friend who described this book as the best of its kind he had ever read. He was not religious, either, by the way!

This book is my all time favourite personal development book. I have read it many, many times, and always come back to it when I need inspiration.

So fascinated was I by this book and the author, that I spent months researching the life of Al Koran and the history of this book. What I found amazed me:

Al Koran did not write this book. Instead, he allowed his name to be used as it was a good sales tool for the book - and great publicity for him. The actual author was his friend and close business associate JUNE KYNASTON.

June Kynaston was a professional writer from England, and as well as writing Bring Out The Magic In your Mind, she also wrote The Mind That Works Miracles, and Stay Young Forever (both currently out-of-print).

How do I know the above story to be true? It was confirmed to me by one of Al Koran's best friends (who I will not name). Additionally, if you ever have chance to read the Mind That Works Miracles, you will see that 70% of that book is contained in Bring Out The Magic in Your Mind. The writing style is the same, and in many cases whole pages are IDENTICAL. This book was also published BEFORE Bring Out The Magic In Your Mind.

I have known this secret for years, but have never revealed it publically before. However the time has come, as June Kynaston finally deserves recognition for being such a wonderful, wise and life-changing author.

Both June Kynaston and Al Koran are now sadly deceased, but their memory will live on in the MAGIC that Al Koran created and performed, and the MAGIC of June Kynaston's words.

"Promise you won't freak" out is book with great characters considering all of them are real. That is right, a teenager is putting her, and her close friends and family's lives on a plate for you to eat up. There is a lot of flavor on the plate that she is handing us including the first two most racy topics you could think about talking to a teen on. Sex and drugs. Well those are just two of the many juicy chapters. The setting changes from time to time but is set in common day, as in 2004. It teaches, parents, and teens alike new vocabulary, most of which is rated R. But if you can put up with the views of an over-protective mother, and her rebellious teenagers, Greg (in collage now) and Natalie, then this is a pretty good book.
It moves along quickly but it's content makes it so that you keep looking over your shoulder to make sure that the person behind you does not see that word that you just read. It kind of makes you feel guilty when you are sitting in the back of your car with your mother driving, and she asks you about the book you are reading as glance up learning the definition of an even more interesting word from the chapter titled Sex Period, and your reply is "oh, just a teen novel!" I must admit that it is educational. Not just the sex and drugs part about it either. It tells you how to start conversation with your mother on hard topics, and how to handle the stress of teen-hood.
I have gotten to know and love Natalie, not always agreeing with her decisions, but still seeing her point of view. Every mother and daughter should read this book together. Aside from dreading the fact that my mother now knows the Web sites for security programs that e-mails her every time any obscene language or Web site is used on my account (not that I ever would) thanks to Nat's mother, it helped me reach a level of understanding with her. Now every time I go to school, I will be more aware: More aware of the new language that my supposed best friends are pushing on me, more aware that any second I might have to refuse drugs, more aware that I am now a teenager, and that I have no choice in the matter of whether I should grow up or not, because it's happening right now.

Extremely well written and interesting. Every teenager and every parent of one should read it, regardless of their own situation (and even if they can't relate to the examples). A good study book for schools and churches. Although the subject matter covers many of the lapses of integrity in today's teens, the book itself reeks of honesty. The authors are courageous in putting their lives out for public view. The excellent conversation starters should help any parent.

It's how I want to raise my teens

Finally, a book that reflects the way I want to raise my soon-to-be teens, but I didn't know it! I'd read several books, all of which didn't touch a nerve until this one. It also helped me to realize it's time to connect up with other non-judgmental guerilla moms.

I don't want to put my teens in a bubble, and then be in denial whenever the bubble bursts behind my back. Instead, I want to weather their teens with them, keep an open dialogue to a reasonable degree, and maintain my composure in their presence. How else can they develop their judgment than by some experimenting coupled with accountability and a parent to talk to? This parenting approach is not for the faint of heart, as it requires objectivity and self-honesty, but I'm ready. It also requires confidence that you've instilled good judgment in your kids.

It's a relief to finally have a way of thinking about raising teens that works for me.

Time Well Spent

Wish I'd had this book earlier in my parenting. I learned a tremendous amount, but the biggest value was in ideas for conversation starters with my teens. I tried a few suggestions and was amazed at the discussions that followed. I left the book on the kitchen table during a teen party and the kids zeroed in on it immediately, particularly the chapter on sex (no surprise there!) I have made gifts of the book to my younger sisters, telling them it is an easy read, well written, and packed with useful information and suggestions. Read this book if there are teenagers in your life.

There is no misleading about the subtitle, it is written "Art of Astral Projection," it is not written "Astral Projection" nor "Skill of Astral Projection." Art comes from many forms, "Sex" is one of them.

And the main title of the book is "Astral Sex" not "Astral Projection." Some people are overly picky, I personally like the book, it has many information which is eye opening.

The book is written in American style, the Grammar and Punctuation is different from the British. This is the reason, the readers who read British books may not use to this book, and mistakenly thinking, there are mistakes in this book.

I think the book is a wonderful knowledge and eye opening to "Astral Sex."

And pay attention, this book is all about SEX, HOT SEX, STEAMY SEX, and adult only. Wonderful skills. Wink.

And look at the cover again, does it tell you about "how to project?" Instead, it is telling you, "Project together and have Tantric Sex!!!"

--Phrase in parentheses under the title ("Art of Astral Projection") is misleading; there is no information on how to strengthen one's own skills of projection, only information on Astral Sex.
--Some of it was difficult to understand; there was no editor used to straighten out the grammatical problems throughout the work (self-published); I don't think that English is the primary language of this author. (This is the first time I had heard of Sapphire, or purchased a book by him.)
--However, the author does indeed appear to have a vast, solid knowledge of Astral sex/projection; I just wish I had understood it better, and/or perhaps purchased one of his previous works to strengthen my own skills first.

Very interesting read, if you need to spice up your sex life.

Astral Sex is real, this man obviously does not know what he is talking about, Ha, Ha, what a joke.

Read author's forum, and you can read many members' astal sex experience, and I get to practice with my girlfriend, and project into astral realm and have sex over there. Do'nt miss out the opportunity to try astral sex.

During astral travels, I get many sex offers which puzzled me. Thanks to this book, this book has all the answers. How to deal with them, and all the common questions and answers from the author. It is a great book regarding astral sex, you will not be in the dark anymore. I have read many other books, but you need this book to get all the answers which you need to know regarding 'astral dating' and 'astral sex.'

Astral Sex is real, if Sapphire (author) is reading this review (by Pawar), for sure he will laugh till he pass out. Of course, astral sex is real, only the people do not know astral projection will think it is not possible. Very good laugh indeed. Many astral projection writers, they could not see their own astral body, not to mention astral sex. But this book will teach you how.

I decided to purchase dumbbells instead of renewing my gym membership, so I was looking for fresh ideas for home workouts. This book has a lot of compound exercises that are great at breaking up the monotony of the usual sets. The challenge of learning new techniques brings such a breath of fresh air. I intend to buy her book of stability ball exercises as well since I've found this book so valuable.

I liked this book. Never would believe this fitness pro was ever 40 pounds overweight, she looks perfect. Nice photos of proper form. Moves I never would have considered. A good sturdy bench is also a good addition to utilize this book's moves. Gave that persoanl trainer type instruction on form that I needed.

I LOVE this book!

I LOVE this book! It gives so many different workout options. I have never seen so many good ideas incorporated into one exercise book. It even gives recipe ideas for healthy eating. The illustrations are very helpful and it is very easy to interpret how to do each exercise correctly. I'm just a beginner but this is the right tool for advancing.

Great book. Great buy.

This book is really great. There are a ton of exercises broken down by body part that can perform in the privacy of your own home with very minimal equipment. It is clear, concise, informative and very well illustrated. I definitely recommend it.

SENT VIA MY PERSONAL E-MAIL - I HAVE PERMISSION TO SHARE THIS: Exposé of the personal side of what the child experienced

Dear Samadhi:

Hope all is well. I am finally at the library, and have the time to share my thoughts with you about your book. I manage to get here only once or twice a week. I am getting ready for a trip to England next week, something that is adding to the busyness of my lifestyle.

We met and chatted at your booth during the Body, Soul, & Spirit Expo in Calgary in April 2006.. It was just after I retired from the Alberta Government as a social worker in the child protection field. I read about half the book, and {personal life issues arose}. Your book remained untouched until recently when I managed to finish it.

I am part of two spiritual groups in Calgary and they are a good stabilizing influence. Both teachers are women who are connected to a current that I resonate with at the present time.

When I finished your book, I felt deep appreciation that I had been exposed to your journey, but traumatized over what you experienced, as a child and a woman. Though I encountered a lot of child sexual, physical and mental abuse in my profession, the job itself was highly rigid and bureaucratic, leaving me with little quality time to spend with the children.

I was a case manager and arranged for therapists to work with the children. I knew the big picture about each child, and in general terms the emotional and behavioural consequences, but I never had the chance to get into such a detailed exposé of the personal side of what the child experienced. Hence, your sharing about what you experienced as a youth and adult was highly relevant, and served to round out my understanding of what this kind of suffering is all about, including the deep emotional and mental scars it leaves.

Circumstances took you to lands where male brutality to women, both psychological and physical, not only prevailed but was culturally sanctioned. I cannot help but wonder whether you were guided to what you experienced simply in order to exacerbate your personal issues and bring the whole thing to a head, where psychological release from your attachments and inner turmoil was the only alternative for a harmonious inner life to prevail.

You came out of the other end a whole person with a lot of understanding of the letting go process, something that can help many people you encounter, if they are receptive to hearing you.

I hope your present life is fulfilling and that you encounter ongoing growth and happiness. When I settle down somewhere, which only the universe knows where and when it will be, I will extend an invitation to you and your partner to visit and enjoy our beautiful Rocky Mountains and turquoise lakes.

Best Wishes,
Doug Christou, Calgary

Turning the pages as you unravel each layer of the veil takes you beyond religions, borders or sexual orientation, into the core of the human Spirit. Your heart travels along the edges of your own insecurities and fears as you explore life through someone else's eyes. Samadhi's amazing journey makes you want to do something, anything, to give your higher self a chance to come into the light, release those butterflies, who in turn will give wings to every Soul they touch along the way. As the circles widen and open up, the little flutters of the voice of LOVE are heard.

This book touched my heart and gave me hope that women can survive abuse in all areas and find the strength to heal and move forward in ones life. I have worked as a counselor in the area of trauma and abuse, for over twenty years. Themes of healing from trauma and discovering ones sexuality only empower and strengthen ones soul from the inside out. I could relate to the family of origin wounds for all individuals and the ability for Samadhi to discover, heal, and forgive are truly the answers to finding peace and serenity within. I was touched by each page of absolute honesty and willingness to share her story. Samadhi, you have changed my life because of this book and reminded me one more time that love does prevail. Thank you.

Samadhi's Circles in the Sand is a thought provoking read that I couldn't wait to finish. It is well written and the story flows from start to finish. This is not one woman's struggle; it is every woman's struggle for equality, self respect and self love. I recommend it to everybody.
My only suggestion would be to include maps of the Middle East at the beginning to get a better understanding of Samadhi's travels.
Way to go, Samadhi!

A Woman's Journey Through the Middle East to Find Herself

Women everywhere will applaud the writings found within Whitehouse's Circles in the Sand. There is a little bit of every woman's story in her story. There are some parts of her story that some women will never experience. But the one universal truth in Whitehouse's story is that women who take necessary risks to search their souls and define themselves reach a point of being keenly aware of who they are.

From the Dedication page: "To my family - this is who I am." With that one powerful statement, Whitehouse drew me in and didn't let me go until I reached the final word of this powerful book.

Circles in the Sand is Whitehouse's very personal memoir of her quest to understand the events of her past and to move beyond them. Daring to do what few women would dare to do, Whitehouse travels through the Middle East on an emotional and spiritual journey to "find herself." What she found by the time she had completed her journey was the window into her soul and a degree of self-love, self-acceptance and confidence that allowed her to share her journey with others.

From the About the Author page: "Edna Whitehouse now goes by the name 'Samadhi,' which means 'Being one with the Divine and being in the moment.'" "A writer who has never forgotten what it feels like to be young and be silenced, Samadhi's messages are: Break the cycle of dysfunction. Be heard. Take back your own power. Go girls!"

The author's work deals with a number of very painful topics, including incest, homophobia and the brutal devaluing of women in the cultures of the Middle East. Through such specific topics and through some very common threads in the lives of all women, readers come to know not only Whitehouse, but the Middle East through her eyes and the beauty in women basking in the midst of other women to claim or re-claim their power.

Whitehouse is currently working on a second book titled Separated at Birth. With her comfortable writing style and her depth of character and substance, I will be eagerly awaiting this book's release!
