As anyone who has subscribed to Wisconsin Trails Magazine, I had always enjoyed seeing Darry Bears work. As an avid photographer myself, I enjoy seeing the work of others and that challenges me. Darryl deserves a lot of credit for showing the little out of the way things that make life in Wisconsin look so good.

Wisconsin Portraits showcase fifty-five Wisconsin men and women who have done something special to make a difference in the world. They include athletes, soldiers, entertainers, politicians, scientists, and reformers. These superbly written and presented biographies of Wisconsinites who made the world a better, safer, or more interesting place to live, also make Wisconsin Portraits a "must" for school and community libraries throughout the Badger State.

This is an excellent work which covers the dynamics of
organizational structures, optimizing work flow in an
organization, management of conflict both vertical and
horizontal, setting boundaries, job redesign and a host of
important organization analysis factors too numerous to list
here. There is an extensive case study package including
job redesign in the Topeka Work System, the Shake-out in the
Oil Shale Industry, the Higgins Equipment Company and
International Metals.

The collaborative effort of author Ellen Kort and photographer Stewart Wolfe, Wisconsin Quilts: Stories In The Stitches is a full-color photographic showcase of nearly one hundred exceptional quilts by Wisconsin needlecrafters, each with its own unique story concerning its creation and the woman who made it. Tying into the years of the Civil War, coping with disease, reflecting political upheavals and the New Deal programs, the stories of these quilts are as fascinating to read as the quilts themselves are beautiful to see. Wisconsin Quilts is very highly recommended for needelcraft and quilting enthusiasts, as well as students of Wisconsin history and culture.

Wisconsin Revisited, from the wonderfully contrasting cover I was taken back to my own child hood. Wisconsin Revisited is a wonderfully amazing look at the transformation of a great state over time. It begins with a Great lesson about photography... it's Origins, and time frames that bring together an appreciation of the present as well as the past! The feeling one gets when viewing the family album is present when reading this book. Wisconsin Revisted is a book that brings out emotional ties and answers the questions... What was it really like before and the splendor of what it has become! At some point in all our lives we have expressed amazement at what we Now see as compared to what we had seen.... Wisconsin Revisted is very informative and educational. Time well spent is time reading this book and viewing it's photo's!

"Nutshells" are not just for slackers who blew off the semester and need to cram at the last minute. I've been consistently impressed with the quality of West's Nutshell series. They're excellent study aids for summary, clarification, and getting the key points and big picture. This one is written by two prominent scholars in the field, the senior of whom (Harry Krause at Illinois) is also the lead editor on one of the major casebooks (Krause, Elrod, Garrison, Oldham, Family Law: Cases, Comments, and Questions). Thus this little book is epecially valuable if your class is using that casebook.

This nutshell provides an excellent tour through all the major areas and issues of family law. There's a nice balance among history, leading cases, and commentary on how the law is evolving. It's short, concise, and, as the authors are not afraid to be droll now and then, a breezy, interesting, and pleasant read.

Miller, and Linda Miller, Wisconsin: Simply Beautiful is a wonderful, hardcover coffeetable book showcasing photographic images of Wisconsin's natural beauty and man-made wonders. Every image is in full color and is accompanied by a caption. Wisconsin: Simply Beautiful is the perfect giftbook for Wisconsin visitors wanting a "take home" souvenir. Wisconsin: Simply Beautiful is also an ideal Memorial Fund Acquisition selection or Friends Of The Library funded acquisition. Indeed, every Wisconsin community library should have at least one copy of Wisconsin: Simply Beautiful in their collection!

Compiled by Martin Hintz, Wisconsin Sports Heroes is an outstanding collection of brief biographical sketches of fifty-four of the greatest Wisconsin athletes in sports that ranges from baseball and running, to surfing to speed skating. Each individual entry features a black-and-white photographs enhancing short yet detailed capsules of the athlete's life and achievements. An excellent survey of Wisconsin's champion sports figures, Wisconsin Sports Heroes should be in every Wisconsin school and community library across the Badger State.
