This book is very informative for new supervisors. I have learned a ton about different approaches to manageing people and improving current policies and procedures. I am a new rehab supervisor in a skilled nursing facility and this book has already improved my performance there. I have taken what I have read and implemented this info in real life and my team is working together in a smoother and more effective manner than before. I reccomend this to new supervisors.

Performance management has traditionally been driven by a reward system or a punishment system, either of which holds possibility of division and failure. First-hand experience and research by the Henley Management College and Hay Group lends to a different approach to analyzing the practices and results of performance management, offering college-level readers and advanced administrators insights into differences between performance measurement and results. Its advice on the two aspects of performance management provides insights managers can't afford to be without, making for a strong college-level business library pick.

I used a previous edition of this book for a college level class I taught a few years ago. It is an exceptional study in commercial leasing. I have taken classes from the instructors in the IREM CPM courses and they really do know their stuff!

I tell my commercial leasing associates that this book is "THE BIBLE" for their leasing activity!

Highly recommend this book or anything by these authors.

A comprehensive review of political managerial and economic issues of canal irrigation including; impact, managing proffessionals, operational management of schemes. An excellent text, should be read by any proffessionals related to irrigation, however neglects to cover comprehensively life cycle costing, agronomic or drainage management. Although the analysis is in Asia, the text and ideas are transferable globally. Well written, clear text from this excellent author.

"Mohan Thite's Managing People in the New Economy uniquely combines theory and practice on knowledge management and human resource management. The book will help those committed to learning learn how to embed knowledge through HR systems and it will help those committed to HR to recognize and deliver knowledge as the outcome of their work. As the new economy becomes an accepted reality, insights from this book will form the foundation for managerial norms and expectations".

"This is the first text book I have read in ages from page to page. I like the book for the following reasons:

1. It is user-friendly - the flow is simple, clear and easily understandable with the right mix of theory and practice.
2. I particularly liked the layout of chapters; especially the culmination of the chapters in, "agenda for managerial action", followed by the case scenario. I thought it was unique.
3. Well referenced but not too cluttered with references.
4. Though it deals with knowledge management it provides as a good, comprehensive text book for all students in management. It has a universal appeal.

Overall excellent"!

"The book is unique in two respects: it focuses on innovative practices, and aims to assist in unlocking the knowledge power, so critical, to the new economy. Its structure is very innovative, where interesting cases have been appropriately blended into scholastic reading. Its language is immensely
readable; rather, it is in the form of a narrative".

Manual of Office Based Anesthesia
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2007-06-05
Excellent Text, highly recommend it. It's a first book of its kind, to my knowledge, that covers all major aspects of office based anesthesia practice. I found it very informative, accurate, complete, and up-to-date. Excellent discussion of common office-based surgical procedures (GI, plastics, eye surgery, dermatology, dental) and anesthesia. It's an easy read with plenty of tables, diagrams and references for further research. It's a very useful guide for any anesthesiologist or a non-anesthesiologist provider. The book had an in-depth discussion of ASA guidelines and patient safety principles in the office. This truly is a "how-to" guide.

Every manufacturing manager should have this book
Helpful Votes: 4 out of 4 total.
Review Date: 2002-12-29
This book solidly meets its stated objective of being a handbook that quality professionals and manufacturing leadership can use no matter where they are in their quest for improving product design, manufacturing operations, or customer satisfaction. It is particularly helpful for those who are involved with quality or other systems such as ISO-9001:2000, ISO-14001, or QS-9000. It would especially be useful as a resource for a Six Sigma Black Belt, Master Black Belt, or anyone leading a process improvement team.

The authors of the various chapters also do a good job of relating the material from a practioner's point of view, rather than just a lot of theory. I found the book to be very understandable for those who may not have any previous knowledge of a topic. Some of the chapters include step-by-step instructions that can be helpful in implementing the technique. A very detailed table of contents allows the reader to see what resources are actually included.

One of the nice things about the book is that it covers many powerful topics often overlooked such as TRIZ (Theory of Inventive Problem Solving), TOC (Theory of Constrants), QFD (Quality Function Deployment), Measurement Systems analysis and Robust Design.

While not designed to be a textbook, I could see using this as a text for a senior level Industrial Engineering course or an executive MBA or MS in engineering management seminar course in quality systems. Submitted by Dr. Phil Rosenkrantz, P.E., Cal Poly University, Pomona.
