Practice Management Books

I am presently completing a thesis in Authentic Leadership Development at the University of Auckland and have found the Monographs Volume 3 on Authentic Leadership to be very well structured and insightful in moving forward. The authors have succeeded with their objective to "produce original views on authentic leadership development and ground breaking insights for future theory, research, and practice".

This is a concise, pithy book from the authors of the Bandolier web site that explains why statistics are important, and gives guidelines to help both the neophyte and experienced clinician evaluate the use of statistics in clinical studies. It is written primarily for those in the medical field, but its lessons could be applied to any field that uses statistical analysis to aid in decision making.

A shoulder to cry to, someone who can comfort you in times of crisis just isn't something that's always available. "Becoming Your Own Emotional Support System: Creating a Community of One" acknowledges this and provides comfort and encouragement to those who are cut off from others that could help them. Promoting a step by step self-support system, it gives the invaluable information needed for the early steps of recovery. Enhanced with an index and with nearly two hundred pages of support, "Becoming Your Own Emotional Support System: Creating a Community of One" is highly recommended to self-help shelves everywhere and for loners who still need assistance in the recovery process.

This text is a great tool for teachers, parents, professionals, behavior analysts, family service providers, and anyone who would like to understand the fundamentals of behavior. It does indeed provide the reader with the knowledge to influence behavior in children and adults with disabilities and/or challenging behavior.

I have had the good fortune to be a student of Ms. Dodson. Her teaching is clear, concise and easy to understand. I know other students, nurses and others interested in the health technology field will learn from this book and enjoy it very much.

This is a quick read, with an emphasis on data collection and analysis.Contains a high-level look at planning, measurement, and who should participate. Very helpful in defining the scope and roles.

This has to be the best book ever written. It is just soooo full of emotion. Like when Maddy, the little girl with spaz attacks, got out of her wheelchair and walked... I sobbed like a little be-otch. I also love the way the author compares water management to the historic fight for equal rights for inbred hillbilly amputees. And the way he uses Fargo as a metaphore for the universal quest for spiritual truth, blending traditional Christian principles with Eastern religious archetypes is simply Salingeresque in nature. This book is food for the soul! You will never look at Irrigated Agriculture the same way again...

As Monty Python would say "this is not a book to lay down and avoid". Indeed, this a companion, guide, expert, tutor and even, dare I say, portable consultant in creativity. If your firm's blue meanies allow you to buy only one book on creativity then, be creative and buy this one! Best Practice Creativity provides not only a menu of innovation ideas but also a intelligent person's methodology on how to implement those ideas contingent on environmental factors. The range stretches from strategic heights to operational necessities. The book takes a bus stop approach (stop me for an idea) which invites the reader to dip in and bathe in the sheer delight of diversity. Fans of change management will love to explore this book as they look for new ways and non-believers will experience pleasant shifts in paradigms as they become enchanted by the ease with which Cook describes the successful cases along with the learnings from failures! Those managers who use business models as transition objects will be overjoyed at the huge number of teddy bears Cook has rounded up for them - my favourite is the Product Destiny Matrix which works really well. A splendid piece, Mr Cook, more broth please!

This book provides a very informative, in-depth exploration of the human dimensions of corporate governance with the aim of guiding the actions of individuals and groups.

Part one, "Organizing for Effective Governance," covers the 'what' and 'why' of corporate governance, different approach that can be taken, leadership, and implementation.

Part two presents and examines different models of corporate governance.

The book is rich in examples. Appendix D presents a very useful corporate health checklist (a quick diagnosis). Very highly recommended.

I purchased this book for a class. This book will be a great resource when I get a school counseling job in the future.
