I have bought this drug book for years and years as I have used it in my job as a medical transcriptionist and found it to be the best drug book around. I also use it at home.

My teacher recommended this to me for medical transcription.

My teacher is a medical transcriptionist, and this is the book she recommended. I looked at half a dozen other books (all of which cost more than this one, I believe), and Quick Look really is the best for a medical transcriptionist, in my opinion. It was the only one I could find that listed medications by condition in a well-organized format. It also has some good information in the appendices. I highly recommend this book for medical transcription.

Inasmuch as I am starting a music business, a friend suggested I read this book. I asked why I would need such a book. I know nothing about the industries that this book deals with. My friend, wiser than I, said.."think about it. everything you do is project management of some sort. A mother who juggles ten jobs at once is a great project manager.
So, I began reading. After a few pages I was "hooked." I learned a lot about American business and how it works. Why some businesses fail and some succeed, given that all of them start out with the intention of doing well, is explained in easy to read language, by Mr. Perrin. Not only does he impart lots of information, but the way he says it is most enjoyable. He has a wicked wit that takes no prisoners...minces no words.
If I owned a business, I would do well to talk with Mr. Perrin before I embarked on any new project. And, the bottom line seems clear. Whatever you do, integrity is paramount. That, and an absence of greed, even though you make millions for the company and its investors.

This is Real World and Practical

This has to be required reading for anyone going for their PMP certification. Mr. Perrin has put project management (PM) into perspective. This is a straight-forward approach to the practice of project management. There are tools and practices that should NOT be overlooked when one is taking on (or in the middle of) a project. The examples in the book and factual information makes it a very useable book that should be on any successful PM desktop. It is an easily referenceable book and get 2 copies -- one for your home library and one for quick reference at your office/project. I cannot wait for what Mr. Perrin has in mind for his next book!

If you know nothing, I mean nothing, about restaurants operations and management this book is for you.

Hi, my name is Raed Halaseh and I have been a professional Civil Engineer for the last 20 years. Six month ago I have decided to get into the hospitality business, namely the Franchise restaurants.

Purchasing Jack Ninemeier and David Hayes, Restaurant Operations and Management, Principles and Practices was the best thing that I have done to launching my Restaurant career.

I was amazed to how much knowledge I have acquired from reading this book. This became clear when I attended the mandatory managers training course, as part of becoming a Franchisee, as all topics introduced at the training course were covered in Ninemeier and Hayes Restaurant, Operations Management book.

If all goes well, I will have my first Restaurant Grand Opening on March 1st, 2008. It is true I will not have the hand-on experience, but armed with the information I have acquired from Ninemeier and Hayes Restaurant, Operations Management book will make operating and managing my first restaurant an exciting experience.

At the end, I would like to thank the authors for putting together such a wonderful, interesting, exciting and well arranged book that will be my best companion through the years as I operate and manage my restaurants.

Best regards,
Yours in Restaurant business to be,
Raed Halaseh

Ninemeier and Hayes' book does an excellent job of providing the detailed information managers need to profitably operate a restaurant, but does it in a very simple, highly readable manner. I believe students will find the book to be most enjoyable. As an Instructor, I really like the ease in which my students will learn and retain the information. I think it is absolutely the best text on the subject and its recent copyright means it is also the most up-to-date.

This book is great for anybody, in any state, who wants to set up an S-Corporation. The materials on the included CD are worth the price of the book alone. As for the copy I received, it was exactly as advertised, packed perfectly, and came just a few short days after I placed the order. What more could I ask for? Definitely worth a 5-star rating!

"To my hard-working mother," the dedication reads, "who never forgot how to play." For Donna Schaper and her interfaith family, Sabbath is more than a day of the week: It's a state of mind.

With compassionate wit, she de-thrones a work ethic that no longer works. She models de-cluttering. Cajoles readers to embrace all those "unfinished" aspects of their lives, to see past the clamor and urgency. For Schaper, wife and mother of three, and a "circuit rider" for over 100 churches, recapturing the sacredness of time begins with a simple commitment: to pause more often and immerse in the moment.

Throughout the book Schaper's quotable prose delights with its snap and shine, yet readers will also relish its depth. Energetic and ecumenical, she engages responsibly with current issues. For the overworked and overwhelmed she urges a gentle return to rituals, the kind that beautifully interrupt one's headlong pace--with peace.

"[P]ack your spiritual baggage," she says, "and move to the neighborhood called Enough--enough time, enough rest, enough play."

A book this good could change the way you live.

A wonderful reminder of the sacredness of ordinary time!

This book is a down-to-earth and creative reflection on living in the awareness of the sacredness of time. It is written with an air of honest struggle. Schaper realizes the cultural forces that distract us and calls us to a new place. A great reminder!

Just when I thought there was little hope for reversing the slippery slope that seems to be destroying the youth of our nation -- I discover this slender book that holds out a possiblity of reversing this negative trend. The author, a cultural expert and recognized authority on the way of the Samurai has written a well-researched treatise on a method that could positively affect the lives of our youth -- the future of our nation. The process he advocates could instill in the young people of our country much-needed inner discipline, morals, ethhics, and respect for self and others. This book, Samurai Principles & Practice: That will Help Preteens & Teens in School, Sports, Social Activities & Choosing Careers! -- comes at a perfect time. It is highly recommended by this grandmother, and I believe it should be required reading for parents, grandparents, teachers, and leaders in every position of power and influence.

A treasure of practice management secrets
Helpful Votes: 4 out of 4 total.
Review Date: 2007-12-29
Practice management is more difficult than other kinds of services because of higher risks, higher expectations, and an adversarial payment environment. Yet very few physicians graduate from medical school with adequate knowledge and management skills to face such tremendous challenges. The fledgling practice owner painfully discovers that attracting patients, managing staff, handling technology, maintaining compliance, and most importantly, getting paid in full and on time, are challenges that require professional approach.

If you don't have the time for an MBA program and you don't have access to trustworthy consultants or reliable outsourced service providers, then this book is for you. Every one of its twelve chapters culminates with a list of secrets that Judy Capko discovered and logged during her 20-year career as a practice management consultant. She covers everything from how to manage phone calls to staying on schedule; from meeting patient demands to improving patient satisfaction; and from risk management to taking charge of the revenue cycle and improving practice finances.

Capko's book is a real treasure of carefully selected and very well articulated practice management secrets.

Truth is stranger than fiction

This is a critical and often hilarious look at a stodgy organization that I believe has outlived its usefulness, whatever that might have been. From a former head several decades ago who became a consultant for the tobacco industry, to the Wilks suit (aided by the Scientologists? ), the book chronicles the many missteps the AMA has made long before the Sunbeam debacle. The current AMA leadership would do well to read this, and see how the outside world views what was once known as "The Doctor's Union."

A Book That Takes On The Doctors' Lobby

For too long, the AMA has been able to offer itself as "dedicated to the health of America," with no dissenting voice to be heard. But with this hard-hitting expose, Wolinsky and Brune show the hollowness of that claim. In meticulously cited chapter after chapter, they build up convincing evidence that the American Medical Association is dedicated foremost to the health and wealth of doctors. With examples of the AMA's tacit support of Big Tobacco in the 1960s and 70s, its unwavering opposition to Medicare in the 1960s, and its massive lobbying operations in Washington, among others, an inescapable conclusion is reached:

The AMA can be hazardous to America's health.

Research Supported Treatment Interventions
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 4 total.
Review Date: 2008-08-08
This 2nd edition of the Severe and Persistent Mental Illness Treatment Planner has been revised to include Evidence Based Treatment (EBT) Objectives and Interventions. The latest research evidence has been integrated into the content of most of the chapters. Those Objectives and Interventions that go beyond "Best Practice" to being based on replicable reseach results are highlighted with an EBT symbol. Now the reader can be assured that all the latest research has been reviewed and suggestions for treatment based on successful results are noted in those chapters where research evidence exists. Where there is not sufficient research evidence available for a presenting problem, best practice interventions continue to be suggested. As federal funding sources as well as some other third party payers are beginning to insist on treatment based on research evidence, this Planner offers just such Interventions.

Please be reminded that all of our psychotherapy suggestions assume a compassionate relationship of empathy that is crucial for effective treatment. Good psychotherapists realize the critical importance of a therapeutic relationship while delivering research informed treatment.
