As the manager of a six doctor medical office with a large admin staff, I want my billing staff to have the best coding books available. I have used them all and found the CPT Plus from PMIC to be the best CPT coding reference. It includes all of the CPT codes, descriptions and coding notes, just like the regular CPT book. But unlike the regular CPT book, this one is chock full of introductory material, coding tips and billing hints that make coding so much easier. I highly recommend this book.

This is a clear, concise, and complete guide to the use of the internet. The book is packed with information applicable to persons at various levels of skill. Following the logical presentation of information, novices should be working confidently on the internet within a short time. As a more advanced user, I was able to strengthen my knowledge of the internet in general. I also picked up many useful tips and the addresses of some useful web sites which I had not previously come across. The style of writing and the layout make "CyberAssistant" especially easy to read.

Develop Solid Research Skills With This Book!
Helpful Votes: 4 out of 4 total.
Review Date: 2000-11-29
Business people and hobbyists alike have found the Internet to be a goldmine of a place for buying and selling, marketing and promoting, and for gathering and sharing information. There is much to search for online but not everyone has the time and resources available to conduct adequate research. D.A. Smith-Hemphill has written CyberAssistant: How to Use the Internet to Get More Done in Less Time to help other members of the online community to make the most effective use of the time and resources they do have.

The book focuses primarily upon getting set up with an online account and computer equipment, developing research methodology, and making use of the navigational tools people should be using for their searches. Smith-Hemphill discusses how to search for ISP services, setting up browsers and computer equipment, getting along with others, using search engines, making use of the newsgroups and discussion groups, tapping into specialized databases, and how we should go about looking for information.

Smith-Hemphill takes netiquette seriously and her treatment reflects a high standard of behavior still found lacking online. She points out that because we communicate online electronically, people we interact with know us only by how we communicate with them using a mouse and keyboard. Readers will learn how to make good impressions the first time and every time when replying to e-mail, participating in online discussions, following respectable acceptable use policies, correct spelling and use of grammar, our choice of words, and other proper key strokes.

Search engines play an important role in conducting online research. Smith-Hemphill discusses use of the major search engines that help us find the information we look for. Selection of key words, phrases, and other character strings are among the topics covered. A selection of other helpful Websites will assist readers to track down essential information online and help them develop solid research skills.

One fascinating aspect about this book is worth mentioning. Smith-Hemphill encourages her readers to learn from their online research experiences. The documenting of various research methods, procedures, and other helpful tricks and tips can go a long way to enhance our long-range effectiveness - and careers. This is an important process every member of the online community should learn to do!

The book reads easy and is highly informative. The average business owner, employee, researcher, student, and hobbyist will find it very helpful and easy to follow. This book would make a great addition to any business, classroom, and library environment with online connectivity. This is a great gift idea. Ideal for beginners!

Anyone who has read Brackett previous books knows that his contribution to the data quality arena is fundamental.

This books is important because it states the business case for quality data in clear terms and also provides tools and guidelines to succeed in that long (very long ) journey

Thanks Mike - Great book!

Once again Michael Brackett does a great job. I've often thought that Michael is a perfectionist. However, I see more clearly now that he is a wounded soldier that has experienced the battles of data administration.

You will find this book exciting - I mean is you love the topic. Michael dictates the "right" way to set up data administration and the ramifications of not doing so.

The book is full of suggestions and pointed comments. I believe that Michael knows the subject as well as anyone, and has a vengence to correct the chaos that is currently prevalent in this area.

Buy it! Read it! Then re-read it! Wait about 6 months and read it again until it sinks in. He's right on target with this one.

This book is an excellent history of the different eras of logging in the U.P. It thoroughly covers the pine era, hardwood era, and the pulpwood era. It also goes into detail about many of the most important men behind the lumber companies, both large and small. If you are at all interested in the history of logging, or have an interest in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, this book is an excellent choice.

Highly recommended if you have any interest in the timber industry's history. Book includes commentary on the results of some poor management practices and the attempts to farm clear-cuts. A good history of logging and the lessons learned. Lots of interesting characters and stories, as well. Obviously a well researched book.

This book points out that success in the design field rests upon the relationshiops of trust and loyalty that are established by the designer's effort and the client's needs and interests. I appreciate the message of identifying new opportunities and the many creative ways to take advantage of them.

Jim Cramer has performed an inportant and admirable service to the design world. While clearly addressing the business interests of architects and designers, he not only avoids compromising their professional integrity -- he shows how, at the same time, they can answer their higher callings to create architecture that is more than beautiful; more than responsible--architecture that makes better people; that sets us free.

This book is written in a technical "how to" style interspersed with plenty of real life examples that effectively communicate the most important issues in building a successful accounting practice. I feel confident that reading this book is tantamount to studying the test answers before the exam.

The message is not flowery nor does it offer any easy answers, but focuses on the issues which you need to work hardest.

Amazingly comprehensive review of all aspects of diabetes. This book is up to date, evidence-based, case based and most importantly, written from the heart. Rarely do medical text books read like novels. This is the exception. Check out the chapter on managing mental illness in patients with diabetes. The complications chapter is the most comprehensive and current review I have encountered.

If you treat Diabetic patients you should get this book.

Written by a diabetic Family Physician who understands that to treat diabetes you need to "think like a pancreas." This book was written to provide primary care doctors the tools we need to care for these challenging patients. I got this book the first week it was out and I haven't regreted it.

With the explosion of Diabetes there are not enough consultant physicians (specialists) out there to care for all of these patients. Dr Unger provides the information we need to provide excellent care for our diabetic patients.

I cannot praise this book enough. The only thing better is hear Dr Unger lecture on Diabetic Care in person.

This book has provided me with some great strategies that I have already begun using and reaffirmed, for my sanity, that some of the things I've been doing were sound techniques.

Besides providing great strategies for everyday leadership issues, there were parts that had me laughing and other parts that inspired me.

Pavlichev and Garson
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2003-11-18
This book demonstrates the state of the art in digital government. Rather than writing about what e-government could be, the authors take a reasoned look at the topic. The book is therefore neither overly optimistic nor is it hand wringingly critical. The international dimension is handled nicely in several chapters that extend the analysis to countries outside the US.

The book can easily become a standard reference for those who study e-government.

Solid contribution to the Electronic Government Literature

Pavlichev and Garson provide a beneficial and thorough treatment of electronic/digital government, examining technical, management and policy issues with both theory and practice. For both students and practitioners of electronic/digital government, Pavlichev and Garson offer an excellent overview of how we got here, where we are, where we want to go and the challenges along the way.
