A Must-Read for the China TraderReview Date: 2003-06-19

A Valuable Resource and Down-to-Earth GuideReview Date: 2003-11-05
I really enjoyed this book!Review Date: 2003-09-24
There is much talk these days, about the coming China boom, but until now, no one seems to be discussing the additional risks of doing business in a region where contracts are often declared void on a politician's whim.
My own international dealings have been mostly in Western Europe, where the legal systems function in a way similiar to our own in the US. Mr Gamble makes clear that things work very differently in China, and that you ignore these differences at your peril.
I should add that "Investing in China" is an excellent refresher course on business law, and it's importance to the international investor. His writing is clear, and to the point, without being patronizing.
Not
a heavy tome written for the legal professional, but rather a good read, written by a legal professional, for the rest of
us.
Highly reccomended! Well worth your time.

Some sections transcend the "library" in the title, and would be useful for anyone a) designing a website; b) working to provide access to resources for people with disabilities; or c) employing staff. Journalists covering library issues will find it to be a useful reference as well.
All you ever wanted to know...Review Date: 2003-02-27
Written in an engaging question and answer format, the book is like reading newspaper questions to the editor with responses!
All of us fit in the patron and/or library world categories (right?) and, therefore, I highly recommend this book to everyone. As a person who falls into both categories, I learned a lot--and, with no pain! Five stars.

A must read for all moms!!Review Date: 2008-04-05
Sensible advice in a humorous styleReview Date: 2007-04-22
"Life Lessons for Busy Moms," is divided into 7 chapters. Each chapter is filled with wisdom, humor, advice, quotes, tips and stories.
"Make Time To Nurture Yourself."
The emphasis of this chapter is taking care of you, creating boundaries, cultivating your relationship with your husband and creating balance in your life. As a mother you wear many hats and you need to recognize how important your roles are.
"Take Charge of Your Parenting Style/Philosophy."
"Implement Creative Solutions (with an Organized Approach)"
"Feed Your Soul."
As a mother what do you need? What are your goals? What do you see as your future?
"Keep an Organized Home."
This is my favorite chapter. Organization! Our lives are less stressful is we have detailed schedules, systems and a good calendar.
"Solicit Help."
We all need assistance at sometime or other but many of us refuse to ask for it. No matter how hard you try you can't be Supermom!
"Make Time to Slow Down"
When we slow down we come to appreciate "the small things in life" those little moments that later we wish we hadn't rushed through. We come to cherish what's happening right now instead of worrying about what might happen, "the what if's."
I wish I'd had this book years ago when my three children were little. Looking back on those precious years I wish I'd been more organized, more stress free. I wish I'd taken more time to enjoy those special moments as they happened rather than stressing out over unimportant things.
This is a delightful book with sound, sensible advice and suggestions written in a humorous style. The stories are sure to bring a smile to the faces of mothers and grandmothers. This book would make a fantastic gift for a new or expectant mother. I highly recommend "Life Lessons for Busy Moms" to all mothers and grandmothers. My daughter and daughters-in-law will each be receiving a copy.

Buddhist ideas in a business applicationReview Date: 2000-03-28
New ideas on mastering timeReview Date: 2000-03-18
It seems like it worked. The business did really well, even though they started with a few strikes against them, and they had a good time too (not fun exactly, but a sense that their work had real value and was part of their spiritual path.)
All that makes for interesting reading. But the real point of the book is to share some of the lessons they learned. That's the part that seemed really rewarding. Skillful Means involves a whole approach to time and to taking responsibility for your life and for getting the results you want, in your work or anywhere else. I'm already experimenting with some of the ideas, and they make good sense, and have an immediate impact.
I don't know if all this will translate well into everyone's job, but I can see the benefit, and I feel like I've just scratched the surface. The author is really excited about the ideas in this book, and I am too.
