It has been said that if something is unmanaged it is uncontrolled. If sales management was truly honest, "shoot from the hip" would best describe their current sales processes. In his book, Mr. DiModica transforms time tested revenue strategies into action steps. The title says it all "building a replicable and scalable sales process." This is a great resource for any organization that is unsatisfied with their sales performance.

Great reading for the entire management team, not just sales management.

In "Sales Management Power Strategies", the author makes it clear that increasing sales revenue is the responsibility of several departments working together. As you read this book you will get many ideas that you can easily implement to help your sales department succeed. Paul takes you step-by-step from hiring the right person, setting quotas and accurately forecasting results, to getting the entire company focused on revenue.

As CFO of a high tech company, I especially appreciated the practical advice, as well as the worksheets for getting top revenue performance from the company. We have already started implementing some of the ideas in this book and know we will be seeing great results.

If you're looking for a business book to add to your sales library, this should be the next book you read.

One of the best sales management books I've ever read!

If you are looking to manage your sales team more effectively, then get this book. The author gives very specific details on how to manage your salespeople by metrics, develop a sales scorecard, calculate sales quotas and targets accurately, and hire the right sales staff for your company. Lots of books out there are full of fluff and generalizations, but this particular book gives techniques and strategies that work in the real world and will help increase your team's peak performance. I recommend this book to anyone seeking to build or improve their sales team.

My husband did some home repair work for Susan and that's how I wound up reading this awesome book. God sure works in mysterious ways. For those of you wondering exactly HOW do you hear God better, this book can answer that in very practical terms by increasing your sensitivity to what exactly is happening as people speak, as events unfold, and it teaches you how to connect to your inner being and God's voice in the midst of YOU as you learn to clue in to how you react to various things people say, and how to actually be a light in the midst of a trial. The mysterious nature of God becomes a lot more accessible by reading this book.....you will find that He is keenly involved in communicating with you; you just have to learn how to quiet your soul, stop reacting like you always have, and listen on the inside. Susan was hand picked by the Lord to articulate this process. It gave even a 20-year Christian veteran like me, a new insight on how to hear the clear direction of God in the midst of angst, turmoil, new situations, unpleasant relationships, how to hear what people are REALLY saying, and how to further the kingdom as we listen to His prompting on the inside. I'm amazed at people like Susan Wehrley. This is a book you simply must read to enhance all the relationships in your life.

"Easy read........ I couldn't put it down."

After reading The Secret to "I Am", I have realized we all have the same power to face challenges head on. Acting on "common sense" judgment and taking the time to truly listen to challenges can bring out everyone's "own" intuition. I applaud Susan for telling her story with such passion and drive and letting us all experience her journey. The book provides an easy step by step thought process to develop your own intuition.
I would recommend reading it!

Susan's personal story makes reading this book compelling. It also helps one to see that change is possible, a step at a time. Practical steps with clear instructions make it easy to take action on the ideas Susan presents. It's not "new" information - it's age old wisdom, told through a real present day story.
Sometimes it takes a story that we can identify with to get us motivated to do something with the wisdom of the ages. Susan gives us that gift. THANK YOU!

One and a half years ago I joined Elmbrook Writer's Group, (where I first met the author). I joined this group because writing is what I love to do. As I write parts of my own story, I tend to dredge up a lot of old stuff from my past, which I feel is necessary for me to be able to help convey my message to others.

I was recently at a point where I needed something else to help me get myself through some of this stuff in my head. It was then that I remembered meeting Susan one and a half years earlier. I went back into my saved information on this book read through the excerpts and the next day I purchased The Secret To "I AM".

This book is an insightful story into the author's life of struggles and working through them.
So much was right on target for me and helped me to put some things back into the perspective I needed for myself.
First I needed to confront what was going on within myself, prayed and then I needed to allow God to work within me to make the changes necessary to be able to move on.

Thank you for your courage to write your book and tell your story.

The Secret to "I AM" by Wisconsin author Susan K. Wehrley is the candidly personal story of a woman's search to uncover her biological identity. Her self-imposed quest results in the unexpected benefits of teaching her the power of connecting with our emotional selves, the value of intuitive wisdom, as well as the role and presence of what Susan terms "her Higher Power". A superbly written autobiographical story, The Secret To "I AM" is more than just the anecdotal tale of one woman's experiences at self-discovery, it is also a kind of guide to helping her readers discover their own pathways to lives of inner fulfilment upon realization of certain universal principles available to anyone regardless of their own life circumstances. The Secret To "I AM" is enthusiastically recommended, potentially life-altering reading which is especially appropriate for those who are seeking their own emotional and spiritual transformations.

Sharing Words: a new way for the social change by education

I don't know anybody who having read Sharing Words doesn't believe that social transformation by education can be a reality. Sharing Words explains the possibility for adult illiterates to partake of literacy to the extent of reading classical literature. In addition, it outlines how it is possible to overcome the main obstacles like gender, race, age, and ethnicity that curtail literacy experiences and social participation. The reader appreciates how the literary circles and their organization become a democratic educative practice which produce a transformation in the learners, as well as in their daily and societal context. The experiences depicted in this book do away with stereotypes that relate to the low expectations of our society from people who lack a university degree. I identified the two elements that are propagated by Freire, the theoretical base of the educative experience and the dreams evoked by it. From deep understanding of theory and practice, Flecha deals with both in a very accurate way.

Before reading this book, I didn't believe that one person coming from illiteracy could read James Joyce. Going through Sharing Words, I have realized that to believe that this is possible is the only way to make it. Definitely: Sharing Words is a revolutionary book, it do to believe that the people make dreams possible by education.

An amazing real utopia!

What most impressed me about this book is how Flecha successfully overcomes the common gap between educational practice and theory. "Sharing words" is about an efficient educational practice which is taking place every week in different places around the world. The secret for the educational practice efficiency is dialogic learning. This innovative way to approach education is convincingly argued for by the author by introducing the powerful intellectual basis - Freire, Habermas, Giddens - which supports it. Flecha not only presents the seven principles of dialogic learning as a theory or as possible outcomes when the theory is applied; he also includes the voices of those who are actually taking part in the practice. This combination of theory and practice is insightful, especially since it is not easily found in the literature. As a result Flecha gives the reader the opportunity to be immersed in the successful learning experience of literacy students reading Kafka, Joyce, Garcia Lorca... an amazing real utopia! The seven principles of dialogic learning are the most exhaustive set of principles to be used to completely overcome all kinds of discrimination and problems that are at the center of the educational debate. All possible bias are taken into account: ageism, sexism, racism, classism... For all these reasons, I strongly feel that "Sharing Words" will be of great interest and of greater reward for all who care about education, believe in social justice and work everyday to make such ideals a reality for all.

"Sharing Words" is a book to be read if you want to know about an alternative educational method that listens to the voices of those people who are usually descounted. This book demonstrates how any person is able to analyze culture and society on the basis of his/her experience. Knowledge, as it is understood in "Sharing Words", is not only something abstrct with an academic degree; knowledges also comes from life experience and has not a concrete age, gender, colour of skin or preferences, this is, all the people are able to learn from their own capabilities and necessities and have the right to decide what and how they want to learn.

I had read this book's review in the Harvard Educational Review and I had very much anticipated its release, because it seemed to offer a unique look at education, its beneficiaries, and its methods. I must admit the book has measured up to all that deal of anticipation.

In "Sharing Words" Ramón Flecha raises critical issues. The book is both provocative and thought-provoking, and it challenges, in particular, mainstream ways of dealing with the world of literature.

The book offers ways of crossing cultural borders by focusing on the use and enjoyment of literature by ordinary people, and on their views, rather than on those of the elite, which is a somewhat rare approach in our so-called advanced democratic societies. However, these critical approaches are fortunately becoming less and less of an oddity these days, and books such as this one bear witness to that.

By way of a conclusion, I cannot but reproduce the H.E.R. reviewer's literal words: «'Sharing Words' crosses many borders. It highlights both theory and practice; it is both expository and narrative; and it refers as much to educational and social science works as to classical literature. In this way, 'Sharing Words' may be an example of a new way of writing about educational theory and practice, one that results in a captivating and enjoyable experience that invites the reader to share and comment with colleagues, students, and friends.»

Many times in marriage, ministry and with relationships in general, "things can go south for unexpected reasons" and the more one does to correct the problem seems to only make it worse. There could be a relational transference occuring. This book does a great job in identifying such and provides steps to take for healthy resolution.

McIntyre's book is an absolute MUST read for the lay or professional pastoral worker/counselor. Her insights regarding the dynamic of transference are penetrating and relevant to a proper understanding of the subject. Whether you are being transferred onto, or have engaged in this behavior yourself, McIntyre's book illimunates the subject in such a way as to enlighten the reader to the harmful effects of pressing transferences, the appropriate measures and precautions to take when we're the object of transference, as well as what to do if we're the one in transference. A much needed and useful tool in spiritual and emotional warfare.

The book i personally found very helpful in my own family setting as it looks on why people transfer their emotions onto others. It deals wisely with the need to find wholeness in our relationship with God - to open the memories which when repressed can lead us to transfer onto others. For the one transfered upon the importance of holding onto the truth and not wallowing in a reactive and subjective attitude is made clear. The book has helped me feel less alone and fearful in response to others' transferance and also my own unhealedness. I recommend the book as a 'restoring' book to those 'subject' to their own unresolved needs and those of others.

McIntyre's book is an incredible testimony of personal experience in emotional enmeshment and the underlying spiritual and psychological issues that accompany it. It is also an incredible explication of how this common emotional condition is connected to christian concepts of idolatry. For those who have been caught up in the emotional turmoil and conflict that is common in these kinds of experiences, especially when they come out in a church, counseling or ministry context as well as interpersonal relationships, this book can bring insight and clarity to the spiritual and emotional underpinnings of this common condition. Contrary to some interpretations, this book does not label "transference" as "sin", but rather points out from a testimonial and pastoral perspective how the dynamics of transference play an integral part in emotional enmeshment, emotional dependence and emotional idolatry in present relationships. It also covers well how to deal with it outside the therapy office in the contexts in which it can occurr. It is not a substitute for more in-depth psychological understanding of the concepts presented, or for therapy where it is needed. It is a great book for gaining insight and initial understanding on a pastoral level about issues that are tumultuous and confusing in nature.

The examples are clear and to the point and the knowledge all comes from a man who has worked and developed detailed PR programs for professional teams and individual sports. As far as I know this is the only book that focuses on Sports PR specifically and it's worth every penny of it. Joe Favorito was head of PR for a bunch of big name sports organizations (Knicks, 76ers, WTA) and collegiate sports programs. If you're looking for a sports PR training camp, this is the place to start. I've worked in PR and lots of what he says is just good practice, but the way he contextualizes it is invaluable and the anecdotes are fantastic. His case studies are mostly US-focused, but the principles apply internationally and he does a good job covering the global market which is growing exponentially. This is top of the league for anyone interested in specializing in sports PR. A real home run.

People who are headed toward their retirement years will be especially uplifted by this one. I would recommend Dr. Peale's books to those who are interested in the "New Age" type "Secrets" venues as he knew the secret a long time ago. Ever so often, both my daughter & I, re-read his timeless treasure, "The Power of Positive Thinking"; a book my father's generation read and just as pertinent, today, as ever. Read them, give them as gifts for all ages. They will rejuvenate the mind.

Having just read a 1957 copy of this book, it is absolutely amazing how much American life back then is still so applicable today. Dr. Peale's words of wisdom are skillfully set out by experience and example, personal and otherwise. Many of the characters identified in the book are still living. Dr. Peale candidly offers healthy, inspirational and spiritual techniques to heal the wounds of everyday living with class and resolve leaving the reader to truly feel that life is not a problem, but rather that life is a solution.

Wonderfully Inspiring!

Dr. Peale starts out reminding us that Jesus said He came to give us life and to give it more abundantly! (See John 10:10). From that Scripture he goes on to tell us that "You can do no more than you believe you can." Actions begin with the seed of belief. This book is designed to plant the right seeds of belief within its readers.

Faith enables an individual to get in harmony with God. It is through trusting Him that the supernatural is manifested. He emphasizes this point by encouraging us to continually fill our minds with possibility thoughts. Replace doubt with expectancy.

A familiar theme that he drives home in this book and other works is that what you visualize in your mind is produced in the physical dimension. Consider the statement he makes on faith and results when he says, "Think big, and powerful forces are released." Planning for inspiration is essential to the achiever's lifestyle. "Travel, music, art, stimulating friends, and good books contribute to inspirational living," he reminds us.

Some profound thoughts on God's perfect timing are also included. We're reminded of the need to synchronize our timing with His, and that as Christians He lives in us.

Dr. Peale is a master at communicating truth from the Bible. His teachings on how to apply eternal principles is as effective now as ever. Read this book and apply it and you will attain the satisfaction of a life well lived.

The classic example of not judging a book by its cover

Don't be fooled by the new title and cover, it's the same book inside. Not one word has been changed - I hope!

If you want to learn to "manage managed care," this is your book. It is certainly one aspect of private practice, but a truly "Successful Private Practice" is so much more than knowing how to navigate managed care. One of these days, maybe I will write the real "Successful Private Practice!"

Should be required reading for anyone in private practice

I highly recommend this book to all the clients of my billing service; in fact, I gave copies for Christmas one year! Therapists are launched into private practice with no clue about how to deal with insurance companies or managed care. Suddenly they have to learn (usually the hard way) how to fill out treatment plans and work with case managers. Susan Frager maps out this new world in a clear fashion, and in language familiar to the clinician.

From a billing service point of view

Any well written handbook is a plus to any mental health office. The information on what should really go on a treatment plan is useful information for a billing service or office manager to pass on to their therapists. This book teaches the therapist a "cooled-down" approach to dealing with the managed care companies instead of an antagonistic approach. Start-up billing services will also find the billing-specific information helpful. This information is spelled out clearly and is easily understood.

Calming the mental health provider

This book is excellent. The author's information is presented clearly, giving us mental health providers reassurance that we have a chance with Managed Care. The book is well organized and the information is helpful. Managed Care is a bureaucracy and we must learn the language and the procedures if we are to use Managed Care. This book will help you do that. If you are new to the field and considering Managed Care as a referral source, this is an excellent tool. If you have been struggling with Managed Care for some time, do not hesitate. This book will help you manage your managed care referrals so that you can be a more effective therapist. If you are a mental health provider and are debating about becoming a managed care panelist, you owe it to yourself to read this book before you take the plunge.

What it means to own a woodlot

This book is an educational guide for landowners who have acquired a wooded property, particularly in the Northeast United States. The authors are woodland management professionals with experience in both the public and private sectors. They have written this book to provide information to new owners of wooded land, explaining the purposes and benefits of creating a woodland management plan. The book includes information on woodland potential, professional foresters and their services, woodland management plans, management techniques, timber harvest, and financial aspects of forestry management. Appendices include forestry measurements, a topical reading list, forestry laws of the New England states, and contact information for forestry resources in the New England states.

This is definitely not a practical guide for do-it-yourselfers who want to make a little money off their woodlots, but rather a guide that will help you choose and communicate knowledgeably with a forestry professional. The authors present a wide range of information and bring up a number of topics that need to be considered by owners of wooded land. Some of the material and sample contracts may be dated, but the main issues are still quite current.

Intelligently written for amateurs, much more readable than academic literature.

It is written for New England woodlands, but its principles are applicable everywhere.

If you own even a few acres of New England forest, you should read this book. "Working With Your Woodland" gives a thorough introduction to forestry for the landowner. Even if you do not own any woodlands, and are just curious about the forestry profession, this book will acquaint you well with the issues. From the history presented of the New England forest through Forest Management to their postscript on stewardship, the three authors present their information clearly and sensitively. Highly recommended.

This book is a basic introduction to woodlot management with a focus on the forest ecosystem, basic valuation metrics for trees, and tax and other financial concerns associated with selling your trees.

The major difference between this title and the Hilts et al text is that this book devotes substantially more space to financial, legal, and logistical issues associated with harvesting trees. Conservationists will probably prefer Hilts while the reader focused on income from his or her woodlot will prefer this book.

Neither text goes very far helping the reader identify specific health problems in a woodlot; look more to Pirone et al. for an excellent introduction.

A great book for the serious, passionate woodlot owner.

Having bought a woodlot in the past year, I praise this book based on real-life experience. This book is an excellent introduction to the forestry terms and practice. I learned all the background I needed to understand a forest management plan and discuss it intelligently with a professional forester. This book discusses forestry issues in detail, but without getting bogged down in arcane minutiae.

I disagree with a previous reviewer that the Hilts book is preferable to the conservationist. I bought both books, but found the Hilts book unsatisfying. It is geared more to people who are considering how to return former farmland to a wooded state. It sidesteps the detailed forestry issues, such as thinning overcrowded stands, usually by saying that a forester will provide the information. These are the areas where the Beattie book is especially strong. Since my land is already forested, I appreciated the breadth of information on forest management techniques in the Beattie book. But the book can also be helpful to people who are undecided about whether or not to actively manage their forest land. It provides good background on how northeast forests have developed, and how a woodland would mature without intervention.

I'd like to add a recommendation for a companion book: Reading the Forested Landscape by Tom Wessels. See my review there.
