The meat of this info is well written and is a great idea. Gives a good background and she is definately knowlegable. There is a lot of filler, such as how to buy office supplies, etc. I would have liked more marketing info, that is available on a seperate ($$) CD.

Good and comprehensive. I have no problem with the substantive value, however, the finish of the pages was raged and not trimmed properly. One part was extended way beyond the cover. Is this because Amazon gives a discount? Not something I appreciate in a book I will keep in my library for life. The prior issue was a better-quality product.

This book was my primary source when I was preparing for the CLA exam. Coherent, organized and thoughtful, it is a "must buy" for CLA candidates. Until my book was borrowed (and not returned) by another legal assistant, the manual served as a handy reference manual in my practice.

I am an experienced paralegal, and I purchased this book on my own to improve my knowledge and skills in the area of evidence management and investigation. It's so nice to see a reasonably priced textbook and legal resource for paralegals!
This book is well-written and presented in a logical, easy to read format, with wide margins for notes. It also contains one of the clearest treatments of the hearsay rule and its exceptions I've come across (a particularly hard topic for new paralegals to grasp).
Since this was for self-study, I did not make much use of the case scenarios or quiz questions in each chapter, but they would be excellent for group study or class discussions. I was hoping for a bit more treatment on taking photos for the law office, but otherwise the book is very comprehensive. We need more practical, topic-oriented practice guides for paralegals just like this!

The book offers good, practical, street-smart information in a small and concise package and should prove useful to any professional working in the litigation field. I was pleasantly surprised to find that although marketed as a textbook for formal paralegal education, it also serves as an easily accessible desk reference full of practical tips and reminders. We intend to use it on a trial basis in our in-house training for our litigation associates and paralegals and suspect that its case illustrations will serve to provoke discussion and participation by all members of the litigation team. Delmar/Thomsen deserves credit for publishing a book authored by two experienced, practicing paralegals: in grounding the book in the authors' real world experience instead of abstract theory they have created a valuable educational and practice resource.

This book is alright for a basic course but lacks some vital deffinitions. Also, some vocabulary words are hilited and some are left without making them difficult to find. In a few cases there are no deffinitions for words.

When I ordered the book, the description said "like new". I expected some highlighting, but not highlighting over 30%(+/-) of the book. That was a disappointment. I would not have been as disappointed if the description had read "heavy highlighting;good condition otherwise". However, I will purchase again. Delivery was prompt; and I passed it on to a fellow student.

I had to buy this book as part of a college course curriculum.
This was an informative and well written book which was also easy to read and follow. I can't stand boring complicated college books so this one was a welcome change. It really helped to break down the litigation process and defined many terms and uncomplicated some things that would have been quite difficult otherwise.
I'd definitely recommend it to anyone just wanting to know more about litigation, especially those who don't want to be bogged down with technical legal jargon which is hard for most people to understand.

This reference guide is very helpful to a new Paralegal. It outlines, how to gather information, interviewing techniques, working with other professionals, working a case, finding witnesses, defendants, and how the job will expand for today's work environment. At the end of this book, there is a guide to paralegal training courses put together by the American Bar Association. All in all, a great reference tool.
