Unlike the politically biased journalists who dominate the controversial subjects of antidiscrimination regulation and affirmative action, Farrell Bloch hammers away with trenchant analysis, letting the conclusions fall where they may. If you want the rigor of an academic instead of a political manifesto, and are willing to challenge your preconceptions, this is the book for you.

I found this book while searching for a dissertation topic. The book is not limited to the points covered in the description given above. Most interesting for me were the author's chapters on recruitment and recruitment discrimination. He sets forth several hypotheses I've not encountered elsewhere. And these chapters as well as the rest of the book are very well-written (in English, not math!) and draw on the real-world human resources and legal environments.

Not of much interest to me, but perhaps to others, are the discussions of the philosophical foundations for antidiscrimination regulation and affirmative action, and of the use of economics and statistics in employment discrimination lawsuits. Most of the discusion in the last chapter will be familiar to those who've taken a labor economics course. There is one cool unemployment remedy using interactive phones that would work even better on the internet.

A Breath of Fresh Air

I am an avid Romance novel reader and for RJ's first book she did a great job. She did such a good job with her characters that I felt they could be real people. In fact, it was a breath of fresh air that the characters didn't have intimate relations every time they got near each other. Refreshing.

Aaahhh, Romance!

I really enjoyed A Bet Worth Taking because it brings out the romance in me. R.J. McCall is very descriptive in her writing. I felt like I could picture every location and what all the characters looked like. She makes each person come alive. At times I felt like the Cindy character wanting to shake both Holt and Shelby! To me, that makes a good book - if you can relate to the people in the story. The dialogue is every day language - some of the things I know I have said before! Try the book - you'll be glad you did. I was hooked from the beginning.

This book was used for my two semesters of Business Law in college and liked the book so much, I kept it.

Like any good textbook should, it covers all areas of business' legal environment and cites many past cases as examples to better illustrate the topic being covered.

A Compelling Law Textbook!

Legal textbooks by nature are encyclopedic and ponderous, however, this text is one of the most interesting and compelling books I have ever read on the subject of law. The material is presented clearly and rationally and each topic is supplemented heavily by significant "real-world" examples. The examples are timely and upbeat and very interesting to read. You will find it difficult to avoid reading all the real-world examples at one sitting. If you are forced to purchase this text for a Business Law class.....count yourself lucky. This one is the best. If you are merely curious about the inner-workings of torts, contract law and intellectual propery rights, then this is the book to buy.

Words cannot accurately describe just how awesome this book is. I thought the 4th edition was as complete as it could be, but THE ROSZ has certainly outdone himself here. His moving storyline protraying Joe Doaks in various legal situations along with landmark cases make for an easy, yet entertaining read. This book does for education what Leftkowitz v. GMSS (MN App. 1957) does for general contract law. Roszkowski brings the law to life in a way otherwise thought impossible. He must have a huge following in the law community. Any serious student must add this book to their library.

Before I read William Schwartzkopf's book, I had no idea on how to calculate construction damages. After reading I understood how to calculate construction damages efficiently, precisely and thoroughly. Schwartzkopf is really a pioneer in the area of construction law. I read many books about construction law but not one this good. William Schwartzkopf can be summed up by ine word: Genius

This is the most advanced book I have seen on licensing. Until I read this book, I hadn't fully appreciated the extent to which licensing is a business.

Any inventor of technology, from low-tech to high-tech, could apply the business strategies laid out in this book. I am not aware of any book that adds so much to the licensing field. This author really has something new to contribute, and does so in plain language.

Although this book is written for Canadian innovators, the strategies it lays out apply to innovation in any country. The same is true of the strategies it lays out on global transfer pricing, something I had never considered in the business of technology licensing.

It is logical, though, that this book originates in Canada because almost half of Canada's GDP is generated globally (much higher than most other countries) and therefore global licensing and transfer pricing are particularly important to Canadians and to Canada's role in the new economy.

I would buy this book just for the analysis of the business of licensing, or just for the analysis of transfer pricing. As a Canadian reader, I would also buy this book just for the final chapter, which exposes the true nature of Canada's international tax law regime.

The Third Edition of a classic in the commodities field has been brought completely up to date to reflect the emergence of derivatives as an increasingly popular financial tool, along with the widespread use of derivatives (futures, options, swaps and a wide variety of exotic and hybrid financial products) as hedges against financial risk. Covering the regulatory, reporting and legal issues that affect these unique instruments, COMMODITIES REGULATION clearly explains:

The latest legal rules applicable to derivatives trading
Registration, reporting and disclosure requirements for derivatives professionals
Criteria for publicly traded futures and commodity options
The rules governing unprofessional conduct
Customer protection
The CFTC's reparations program
Arbitration programs
Private rights of action in the courts
A comprehensive, easy-to-use reference in this complex field, Commodities Regulation gives you the answers you need on everything from the contract markets to exemptions and exclusions, from ethical and disclosure requirements to market manipulation and more. It presents practical insights into the current thinking of the CFTC by examining no-action and interpretive letters, and in many cases, it is the only authority available on the topics addressed.

With all the various information available concerning the Microsoft monopoly, it was wonderful to find an objective source that followed the events before and during the Microsoft case, analyzed the monopolistic tendencies of the software market in general, and compared this information with previous monopolies. The best characteristic of this book is that it explains the events and legalities of the case in such a way that it is not at all difficult to understand.
