I began studying and using the Bach Flower Remedies about 6 months ago. I have read and re-read this book regarding different essences. It contains case studies along with both "essay" descriptions of the positive and negative states of each essence as well as check lists of qualities a person might exhibit if they were in need of that particular essence. Very informative and very useful in deepening your understanding the essences.

This excellent work on the Bach flower remedies is one of the best books on the subject that I have encountered. The author provides the history of Dr. Bach and the remedies, deals with the remedies as a holistic healing modality and offers a possible interpretation as to how and why they work.

There is a chapter devoted to finding the right remedy for specific diseases - lists of symptoms are included to facilitate diagnosis. The practical application of the remedies is thoroughly explained and there is an interesting discussion of the 38 flowers from which they are made and their qualities.

A helpful Question and Answer section addresses frequently asked questions. The book concludes with a bibliography, list of useful addresses and an index. In additional to this informative book and for a wider look at holistic medicine, I highly recommend Gerber's masterpiece Vibrational Medicine.

There are not an awful lot of books that you read and yet they stay with you even after you have finshed it. This one did for me. There was just so much in it about travelling, religion, relationships and trauma. At times I would laugh and other times I would be close to tears. An amazing story and a fantastic read.

I have been teaching ESL for 15 years, and Barron's How to Prepare for the TOEFL test is not only the best book for students planning to take the TOEFL, but also for intermediate level students who need to add structure to their learning of grammar, and develop their vocabulary. A very interesting text to work with.

I've already read the book How to prepare for the new toefl test by Pamela Sharpe, I've not found a better book of toefl preparation until now. at the begining of the book it looks difficult to adapt to the way it is structured but as the days are passing by you notice that the way in which She made the book is the best to have a quick reference while you're answering the excercises of "structure and writen expression", I dont know the author but in my opinion is a person extremely intelligent. The excercises are ordered on a methodic way that I've never seen before in other toefl books that present their teachings so clear. I never before had taken classes of grammar but I feel that the book has help me very much. I've read a 70% of the book and in my opinion is the best.

It is a true statement that familiarity with something can often hide the glorious, life-giving keys that are concealed within. Don't let the familiarity of this subject cause you to be blind to the goldmines of wisdom in this book. It's a message of God taking you from glory to glory, developing you line upon line, precept upon precept. This is a message for the determined and persistent - for those who will be willing to read and re-read so that NO key truth will go unrecognized. This is a great tool in the hand of the one who will be dilligent in seeking the wisdom of God to have an overflowing harvest in the lives of all that he/she comes into contact with. What a delight to share in the love and the pain as the families of these preemie-babies struggle with the issues of our time. What a wonder to have a peek, not inside the womb, but outside, as these babies continue development that is normally hidden from the world.

There is nothing weak in the love of parents who spend weeks at their baby's bedside, reaching through tubes and machines to assure a little one he/she is loved. There is nothing callous in a doctor spelling out the almost insurmountable obstacles a baby must overcome in order to survive.

Intensive care neonatal units are places few of us will ever see. Healthy children are a blessing most of us take for granted. Yet this book takes us into the lives of several families, with all the drama of repeated life-and-death crisis. This book lets us feel the pain, and the joy; the frustration and the wonder. It confronts us with the questions. It does not preach, yet dependency on God breathes from its pages. These infants, so astonishingly small, are precious and wonderfully made.

This is a book you'll want on your shelf. You'll find your eyes overflowing at times. You'll find yourself sharing pain too deep for words. You'll also find yourselves lifted with a sense of wonder at the Majesty of God's handiwork.

My daughter spent 90 days in the NICU unit at our local children's hospital. It was the most difficult and most joyous time of our lives. Fortunately, our story had a happy ending and she came home without needing medication or reliance on medical equipment to eat or breathe.
I came across this book about two weeks into our NICU stay. It gave me hope in that it expressed many of the thoughts and feelings that our family was going through, and describing the unique intersection of parents, neonatologists and premature or critically ill newborns that make up the NICU. (It was also difficult to read with my child being hospitalized at the same time)
I really enjoyed a brief essay in the last chapter of the book about perseverence. Every parent of a child in NICU should read that last chapter. It was very affirming to me in light of how tiring (and rewarding)the experience of being present each day with your child in the hospital can become. The experience is emotionally draining, and a parent will experience hope and fear and discouragement, and many times will wonder where they will get the energy to interact with the medical staff, learn the medical terminology and interact with the different personalities of the nursing team, and be able to deal with the incredible emotions that are generated when they receive medical updates on their baby. Parents need a lot of affirmation.
I also recommend this book because the stories of the newborns are well written. You will laugh and cry and become attached to all the babies and their families. I bought a copy for the library at the childrens hospital where our daughter was treated. This book would be appropriate for parents of critically ill newborns or for those who love a good story. I wholeheartedly recommend it.

Before Their Time is very true to life.

I thought this book was wonderful. It helps people who have never experienced life in the NICU get a glimpse of it. I have quadruplets and all 4 of my babies went through the NICU at Chidren's Hospital in Minneapolis. Dr. Ronald Hoekstra took care of my babies and he is as wonderful as the stories in this book make him sound. It is very difficult and hard to explain what life is like in the NICU and this book does a marlvous job of conveying that. I have given this book to many friends and family members to help them understand what I went through.

I loved this book. I often read and the gym on the exercise bike and my mind will wander. Not with this book! I was engrossed with the stories and tears came to my eyes often as these people of faith go through very challenging times. Although written to partially explain how the Christian faith of these parents and some of the staff helped them through their individual ordeals, it was not offensive. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in the wonder of new life.

I am building a new house and wanted some detailed information on materials that would assist in all the choices I will be making. This book is so much better than the infomation you find that is intended for consumers, which is very lacking in details and substance. For example, you will find good information on the different types of construction for kitchen cabinets. This is of great assistance when having to choose a cabinet manufacturer. Instead of blindly comparing cabinets you can actually understand the quality you are getting. I would recommend this book to builders, homeowners who will build or renovate, and architects.
You are much better off spending on this book than most of the home maganzines, with the exception of Fine Homebuilding which is the best I have found for real infomation.

Hi, I love this book and desire for all of the family of Christ to move to a new level of blessings. Many have give up believing their life could be filled with God's wonderful touch and have been confused as to why. This book will give you one of the main reasons we experience limited blessings in all areas of our lives. By making small changes in our lives we could be on our way to happiness and joy. Excellent but not so much a book as a collection of guided meditations
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2007-04-10
I just wanted people to know that this is not really a book, like most of Hanh's other books, but rather a collection of guided meditations with some commentary on them.

As such, it is excellent and I highly recommend it. I have read many of Hanh's books and most are excellent, all are worth reading.

My favorite is "Anger", perhaps because I have issues with anger and use Buddhist techniques - meditation, philosophy, loving kindness - to help me control it and - hopefully - eventually put out the fire.

But this book has meditations on about everything, and I like to do 15-40 minutes of regular meditation on the breath (vipissana) and then close with 5-10 minutes of these meditations.

In my opinion, Thay as his students call Thich Nhat Hanh, is a living Buddha or Bodhisatva. He seems to embody what the Buddha taught and yet he is so down to earth he can bring that enlightenment to the common man and woman who know little of Buddhism. His techniques and explanations are so clear and simple, anyone can grasp them, use them, and benefit from them.

Thanks to Thich Nhat Hanh for writing these books!

This is the gist of the practice. You can sit down and use these guided meditations to get started, or to maintain your practice, or to get centered agian, right now in this moment. Some are steeped in Buddhist terminology and structure, which Thich Nhat Hahn explains. But most are non-dogmatic, easily accessible, and potentially life-changing. I've read much by Thich Nhat Hahn, and all of it seems to-the-point and profoundly wise. But this is the book I go back to again and again.

After searchiing for meditation exercises in the true Buddhist tradition, this book was a revelation, like the opening of a flower. It is all you need for everyday meditation, deep meditation on death, aging, beauty, love, body, mind--it has it all. And it is so elegantly translated it reads like poetry, every time you look at it. If you are looking for the inspiration to do your own guided meditation, get this one.

I have enjoyed Thich Nhat Hanh's other books because (the translation of) his writing makes Buddhist thoughts and practices clear and accessible; not too simplistic and not too academic. The guided meditations in this book are no exception. Ranging from very simple to rather complex, each meditation is written in poem like phrases, or stages, with the key words of each in the border off to the side. I have been memorizing the key words and saying them to myself while I run--it makes me much more aware of myself and my surroundings than listening to earphones and makes me concentrate on my breathing, all of which makes the experience more enjoyable.

A totally absorbing and mind expanding experience. Taking you through the Old Testament John Chitty makes his case giving the reader, "a close encounter of the third kind," as the nature, identity and person of Yahweh is revealed. At the end you will say, "yes, how else could it be?" A must read for passage into the Aquarian Age.

Biblical Clues to UFO's

Review Date: 2007-12-03
As a person that is knowledgeable of scriptures, I was incredibly rewarded to read this book and see that it wasn't just myself that saw some scriptures that screamed 'more than your pastor is telling you'. There is such an obvious connection between angels, demons, UFO's, creation, miracles and technology. This is not for the closed minded Bible thumpers, but for those of us that are educated, rational and open to what is actually written in the Bible, not someone's interpretations (usually your parent's or pastor's). Mr Chitty is cautious, careful, specific and thorough in his analysis. This is not a casual read, but an end result of years of research and review, written in an easy to read and laboriously detailed outline of chronological, step by step, events as they are documented in the Bible and other ancient books of reference. These events and descriptions are not hidden, but blatantly clear. Mr Chitty points out things that you always wondered about-- and not just Ezekiel! It hits you to the core when you read this book and see it from an outside point of view, stepping aside of your cloak of religious beliefs. With our current knowledge of ancient religious beliefs and their origins, our historical knowledge of cave paintings, large scale stellar patterns on earth, even medieval tapestries showing UFO's, this book fits perfectly to connect the dots. With today's technology, we are finally able to comprehend and understand what the Bible is really saying. I would challenge anyone to read this book, even if it brings up endless discussions and questions. Most importantly, this book will challenge your core beliefs that have padded our lives with a faith that answers all those unanswerable questions. It provides a logical explanation to what we have glorified and conflicted over for centuries. Mr Chitty made no religious statements, absolutely none. But he sure makes you think about your own. Be prepared to be astounded.

Amazing how it all fits together...

You must be looking for a something that's a little different than your standard romance novel or Harry Potter book. You have found it with The Broken Bible. I personally have always felt there was more out there than half invisible ghosts with wings flapping around. What about the dinosaurs, UFO's, different cultures, and our technology burst in the past 100 years? There is too much that fits into place; like a giant jigsaw puzzle, John takes all the pieces from many sources and puts them together. This creates a more accurate image of the universe. His dedication to the logical and research truly shines in this book. After reading this book I guarantee you will never look at the moon the same way again!!!

My daugther has been strugling for the past four years since her divorce with four children, one with emotional problems, anger problems and learning problems. She cried a lot and said she didn't know where to turn to. Someone told me about this book and I let her read mine. She said she finally read a story sort of like hers and it gave her a lot of encouragement. Also, she is having a lot of problems with not enough money. The second part of the book provides a lot of money saving ideas that you can see in your budget when you follow the guidelines. The most important thing is that is written so she could understand it. She said the things she learn in the part called Let's Be Practical are things that are ordinary but she never would have thought of doing it. It really works, she said. Her voice sounded lighter than I had heard in a long time. I am sorry for parents cause I am one myself but I am so glad that this lady was willing to tell of her sorrow and heartbreak as well as the very positive and happy times so my daughter could be helped by it. I recommend this book to ALL PARENTS!

I found this book to be an example of how your everyday life can fall apart but with the guidance and help of God one can over come any obsticles that has been put in one's way. Throught reading this book I found myself seeing life throught the eyes of the author and experiencing what it was like for her. I found this book to be inspiring and influential in it's recommendations for living a christian life as a single parent with all the odds against you. I recommend this book to not only single parents but also to those thinking of becoming parents, thinking of getting married, or those who are married as a guide to help them understand what curve balls life can throw at you and how one can lean on God to help them through.

Orelia King wrote this review from my computer since she did not have one. Please understand that I do not review my own books. I did not want to appear dishonest. If you will look at the bottom of the last one with the information about daughter struggling, you will see Mrs. King's name.

As I read this book the message that I recieved from it was one of courage and determination to go on with everyday life even though where the means to go on where unknown however with God's help in providing the author always had everything that she needed for herself and her kids. They didn't always have the best of everything but they had each other and God and could do anything because of God. It is a great encouragement for single parents who have either divorced or been abandoned or widowed. It tells how one can survive and bring up a christian family with God's help.

This book is very valuable to anyone who reads it. I paused to consider my own lifestyle and how I needed to make some changes for the better. The powerful and emotional love this mother has for her sons, especially the special needs child, would make any mother's heart melt. As a social worker, I found it extremely effective to pass on to parents who were thinking about divorce. It has the ability to save marriages, make you realize just how good your own life really is as well as encourage single parents who think they just can't make it. I feel every minister or counselor needs this book added to their library. The information contained about increasing your buying power without another job is wonderful. I recommend every homemake that has the opportunity should purchase this book.
