I read this book to my seven year old son and was amazed at the things he was telling me. We had a wonderful conversation on all the topics in this book. It is a great way to show children how to make friends and keep them. Complete with examples.

This book shows kids through it's illustrations and text how they should act or repond to many situations(some stressful) they will encounter in daily life. Suggestions of what to do or what to say are given for each senario in a cartoon fashion and with subtext for explanation. My daughter for exammple is learning what a "sore loser" means and is trying to modify her behavior to be more like the nice girl in the book. I think both seeing and hearing the positive themes of the book help her retain the lessons.

"How to Be a Friend" is amazing. It could not be better. Not only is it great for children having difficulties with social skills due to Autism -- it is amazing for every child. It should be on the MUST READ to your child list of every parent.

This book has been great for an initial read to discuss with my children what a friend is. It continues to be a great reference tool for situations that come up. We pull out the book and read it with our children to remind them what a friend is and how a friend should treat them.

How to be a friend is such a nice book. It is like an instruction manual for kids who have difficulties making friends. It shows what is acceptable and what others find attractive in a friend. It tells directly what is annoying or inappropriate. I read this to my entire class, which consists of general education students and children on the autism spectrum (Asberger). I used it early in the year. It opened to door to much discussion and questions. We used it in therapy sessions, as well. I recommend it..

I have read many books on the subject of diets and dieting and I have to say this book was by far the best. It is written in an informal and personal yet intelligent way. I believe there isn't a dieter/former dieter out there who couldn't relate to Linda's story and all the thoughts, feelings and emotions behind chronic dieting. If your tired of struggling with food and diets, or if you feel like you just don't know what to do next... then How to Survive Your Diet and Conquer Your Food Issues Forever is a great choice.

I don't know what exactly I was expecting from this book, but I didn't get it.

I certainly wasn't expecting a magic fix-it, but was hoping for something new. There is nothing new here.

The author's groundbreaking discoveries include:
-The reason people gain weight are from greed eating and stress eating.
-The way to lose weight and keep it off is to learn portion control.

Why this information was life-changing to some people, I'll never understand. The only reason I gave this book 2 stars instead of 1 is that she summarizes and compares many diet plans. So basically, others have done the work for her and she's just compiled it.

I'm happy Mrs. Moran found a way to lose and keep off her weight- a whopping 22 lbs.

Yes, her high weight was 142 at 5'2, and she is now 120. Good for her. Yes, 142 is a bit heavy for a woman of her stature, but I wonder how many women with serious weight problems will buy her book expecting to read about someone who actually had the kind of weight problem they do, only to be told in the last chapter that this is not true. Again, I am happy she is at a healthy weight, I just feel that this book had practically nothing to offer the targeted audience, or anyone else for that matter.

Linda Moran's suggested "self talk" is so simple and works when you do it (yes...this is the catch...you have to actually DO IT!).

Before eating, one of the things Moran suggests you ask yourself is "Am I hungry or am I eating out of "greed?" There are also other examples of self talk that deal with stress, guilt, etc.

Eating intuitively worked for me up until the holidays (Yes...I've been greedy!).

I do feel that mastering the self talk as prescribed by Moran can be a key to losing weight and keeping it off--I will attempt to refocus and see where her guidance takes me!

This is one of the most clear and concise presentations of intuitive eating I have come across so far. The author shares her experience and insights with regard to re-establishing a normal relationship with food. It's clear that she understands the whole dieting mindset/lifestyle that many of us have experienced, with multiple cyles of on-again, off-again, self-blame, looking for that magic pill, etc. In this book she offers a way to become free of obsession with food and actually just live a life.

i read the book in one day and think it is amazing how many books you can read on the same issue and still always find something you haven't read before. Amazing.
I liked Linda's book, it is very easy to read and Linda is very down to earth about the whole issue.

I ordered three of these books. They are wonderful and I highly recommend them, especially for families with little ones.

Fast delivery! This book is awesome! I bought it for my granddaughter for her 8th Birthday because we play the "I love you more" game on the phone and she always wins! I can't wait to sit down with her and flip it back and forth and back and forth and back and forth! Even though the book is about a little boy and his Mommy, I'm going to do a little "artistic editing" to personalize it to "Nana and Granddaughter". I'd love to see this book written with different relationships but it's still wonderful and I recommend it to everyone who loves smeone who loves them more!

I read this to my 6 year old. Bought it when he was 5 and he still loves to read it with me. Love the way it's written and love to message!

My kids always loved this, so I bought it for my niece's little girl. She loves it too.

This is a wonderful story! My mom brought it back from Australia for my daughter and ever since it has been one of her favorites and a bed-time staple! It tells the story of Koala Lou who enters a Bush Olympics competition to win her mother's affection. She trains really hard, but she doesn't win. In the end, her mother lets her know that she loves her, win or lose, just because she exists, exactly how I love my daughter. I would recommend this to anyone.

Koala Lou is another great Australian wildlife character picture book. First published back in 1988 in Australia this classic has more than stood the test of time. Since then generation after generation of grandparents, parents and friends of the parents of an only child have purchased this educational tale given to a child before the first sibling arrives to explain to them the fact that the new arrival will no doubt get most of the attention they used to get but that doesn't mean that they are loved any less. Possum Magic (Voyager Books) is probably the most famous of Mem Fox's work in Australia but the great universal message of Koala Lou has probably made it more famous around the world. I know many people here in Australia who have sent this to their friends overseas having a second kid as it combines great pictures of Australian animals to teach them about the wildlife here as well as the living the future vicariously through Lou lesson.

The basic plot of Koala Lou is that when Koala Lou is born everybody (all the other Australian animals) adore her as she is soft and round. Her mother tells her over and again every day Koala Lou I Do Love You. As the years pass she gets older the natural fussing over her by other animals decreases, during this time her mother has just given birth to at least five other joeys (baby koalas) so naturally the majority of her attention is spent on Lou's younger siblings. Lou misses the attention and wants her mother to love her again pinning for her to tell her she loves her like she used to. Lou comes up with a plan to enter the Bush Olympics as her mother will no doubt love her again when she is a sporting champion. Of course not everything goes according to plan and the affection from her mother has never demised as Lou believes. The ending is granted, very predictable but you wouldn't get the message you are looking for if it wasn't.

This is a good book not only for the child but to have those friends and relatives who are no doubt going to fuss over a new baby read as well, just to remind them to not ignore existing children when their are new arrivals.

Other great Australian wildlife fiction picture book classics for kids by Mem Fox you should check out are Possum Magic and Hunwick's Egg. By other authors Sebastian Lives in a Hat by Thelma Catterwell or Wombat Stew by Marcia Vaughan and the entire Steve Parish story book collection by Rebecca Johnson such as The Cranky Crocodile are also great reads. Olga the Brolga and Edward the Emu although not the best stories have some greatest illustrations of Australian wildlife you will ever see.

As others have noted here before, this book is delightful! It's a great read for a child whose family is growing and may feel uncertain about where she fits into her mother's life and love. I bought this book years ago simply because I love the illustrations by Pamela Lofts, but when my sister found out she was pregnant with her second child I knew it would be a great story to share with her first son. Lofts' color pencil artwork is reason enough to buy this book--pair that with the work of master storyteller Mem Fox and you can't lose.

I had this book back when I was in college and studying to be a teacher. Recently my daughter started Kindergarten and her teacher read this book to all of the parents at back to school night. It brought tears to my eyes and I went home and ordered a new copy for my daughter. Mem Fox is one of my favorite children's authors and this book is a very touching story about a little Koala who is looking for her mother's continued love and affection.

Mr.Marshall is a superb story-teller and a gifted writer. He brings the twelve spiritual values of the Lakota to life in ways that the reader can not only understand, but relate to and see their meaning to everyday life. His stories of his grandparents alone make this book worth the read. Here is a man who listens and shares what he has learned over the course of a life and through the wisdom of those who came before him.

This is the kind of book that you can pick up and read any story in any order and at any time. The story-telling is vivid and alive and the messages are timeless. This is a book that I would highly recommend for young adults.

This is an excellent book that uses Lakota stories to show a better way of life.

I'm so glad I found this book, it's very much like how my poppy (grandfather) used to tell stories.

Stories. Lakota stories that tell about morality and virtues---persistence, honor, love, respect, and so forth. We can all benefit from reading these stories. Interesting and enlightening. What more can you ask for? Recommended! boland7214@aol.

I must say that I was pleasantly surprised at the size and quality of this book! I happened to purchase the 6th edition, and I'm glad I did. The first thing that caught my eye was the impressive layout. Next, I was impressed with the colors and awesome diagrams! The book also comes with a CD-ROM program (which includes images and video clips) that is truly helpful in testing and evaluating what you've learned using a variety of stimulating methods. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is studying in the medical field or who is just interested in learning "The Language of Medicine." Kudos to Davi-Ellen Chabner and all involved in creating this awesome edition!

This book is really a great book. It makes figuring out and understanding medical terms a breeze. The exercises are incredibly easy because they are using the rote method. I think the author is using the rote method because it's pretty effective. The terms are clearly explained. The book is easy to follow and the CD that comes with it also uses rote. It might seem mindless, but after doing the 1st few chapters, I was able to read my A&P books without any problem (I have never taken A&P class yet). So if you need to understand and parse medical terms in a hurry, this is the book for you. It's well worth the price.

This book is the best one I've seen on medical terminology. There are numerous charts and pictures to further enhance the learning process, as well as many workbook-type exercises to test your knowledge. By the time you finish a chapter, you REALLY understand the information covered. I'm so glad to have the opportunity to study from this book.

The systematic approach to understanding medical terminology is a key to success as a transcriptionist. Thanks in part to the beautiful way this textbook lays out a method of grasping the concepts involved in this subject, I am now one of the top 10 producers at our company of about 150 MTs. This book was a great investment.

This book is amazing. I found it a couple of years ago and we read it ALL the time. My kids love it. We even have hand/body motions to go with each article of clothing that the Little Old Lady comes upon. Your kids will love this story. I have kid from 1 to 9 and they all love it. My older ones even quote it while I read or read it to the younger ones. This book is for all ages. I love reading this story and you will too.

Youngsters eight and younger will love this spooky children's tale about a little old lady who refuses to be afraid of "things" following her through the woods on her way home. "The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid Of Anything" is simple, fun, and excellent for kindergarten and first grade kids to practice their reading skills on. It works even better as a tale read to a child. My daughter loves it when I read this story to her and put emphasis on the noises that each of the old ladies' followers makes. From "Clomp, Clomp" to "Boo, Boo," my daughter giggled her way through this story. There's just enough spookiness to the story to keep kids a tad antsy, but the resolution eventually makes everything okay.

I highly recommend this tale to anybody who has a child eight years of age or younger and stress that this story works best if it's read to the children instead of having them read it. Author Linda Williams has done a nice job of making a lightly spooky tale for youngsters and Megan Lloyd's dark and moody (though somehow amazingly fun) illustrations only add to the tale's atmosphere. It's a fun Halloween tale that works on any night of the year.

We pull this one out in the fall. The story is great for standing up and moving around -- clomp, clomp - wiggle,wiggle - shake, shake - clap, clap - nod, nod... plus, there's a great surprise (which we shout out VIGOROUSLY!) and a happy ending. It's one of our best fall books.

This is one of my all-time favorite children's books. It is an interactive book and I suggest everyone who reads it to a child or group of children get them on their feet and acting it out. Much fun and laughter!

This book is great for the fall season. The writer gives suspence with bravery.

I first read this book when i was 15 now at 17 i still love this book its such a good read the main character is engaging and clever. You can see in this story what a post traumatic stress disorder may do to a person. It really makes you feel for this character

Ellen Emerson White is fast becoming one of my favorite authors. Her central character Meg is a strong-willed survivor who can also be an irritable, smart-aleck teen, not a typical heroine, to White's credit! The description of her time with her captors is harrowing. The story of her road to recovery is compelling. All the books in this series are worth reading.

I read a lot of books as a young adult but these books really stand out in my mind. They are incredibly gripping and well written. I have been trying to track this series down for awhile and could not be more happy to have located them. I read them in the early 90's but still loved the 80's culture (Tab and Joan Jett included) and recently purchased a pair it Tretorns because Meg owned them. All in all, great books for anyone to read!

In my opinion, this is one of White's best works. Although this is technically a YA book, the only real "teen" thing about it is Meg's age. She, her siblings, parents and various White House personas are thoroughly fleshed out, as well as the multitude of psychological issues that come along with being the child of a president. Here, when Meg's position in life leads to her abduction -- an incredibly grave situation -- White combines it with the thoughts running through Meg's mind, which are usually humorous and sarcastic. A thoroughly enjoyable read.

I think I first read this book back in middle school, in the late 80's; and immediately bought The Presidents Daughter so I could read that too. I'm now 29, and after a LONG search, have FINALLY recovered an original copy of White House Autumn to complete the trilogy. Wonderful writing, who could not love Meg and her family? And I find as I get older, each time I re-read I manage to pick up more detail, more emotion, more understanding. These books are wonderful for teenagers and adults alike. I recently read that a fourth book, titled "The Queen Lives On" will be released this fall; but have yet to get confirmation from any of the publishing companies. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE reprint this series and release the next book!!! I am dying to know how Meg's life has turned out, I would love to read about her college years (and find out if she ended up dating Josh again, LOL).

I bought Manners Can Be Fun for my 2 year old granddaughter. She is too young to understand a lot of it but is enthralled with the pictures. Reading this book to her reminds me that I should always, always teach with actions rather than words because little eyes are watching and a slip in manners, even at home, will have an impact.

This book is as wonderful today as it was years ago! I agree about the missing Burpers - I want them back! But still a wonderful and fun way to instill principles of courtesy in the reader. A wonderful reminder of years gone by and if we are lucky a promise of what we can be in the years ahead. Just be nice to one another! Two boys, 5 & 7 can often forget the importance of manners. Being tired of preaching and threatening, I saw this book and thought I'd try it. While they sipped hot chocolate, I read this to them. Neither of them said a word, but were paying complete attention! I couldn't believe it! I wasn't sure my kids would be able to enjoy and/or process this. They did, and I am very pleased with this book. Looking forward to buying all the other editions.

I wish this book had been around for my children when they were little. Their great grandmother had told them about it, but it was no longer in print. I bought six copies... so they could read it to their chilren when the time comes AND one for my class of kindergartners. My K kids LOVE it!

I had Munro Leaf books when I was achild (I am 61 now) and loved them. This is a fabulous book. All kindergarten and first grade classrooms should have this book. It explains why manners are important in a way that children will understand that their life will be better if they use good manners.

I have an engineering background and needed to learn MRI for my job. I knew nothing about MRI and this gave an excellent overview. It talks about things at the proton level, data collection in k-space with frequncy/phase RF signals, to images with FFTs. It also talks about the electronics of the system and commonly used sequences. The colored tables and highlighted text makes things exteremly easy to follow.

Although this was a school requirement, I find it to be extremely useful and detailed.

I own many, many books on medical imaging, specifically MRI. This book encompassess the physics, sequences, imaging parameters, artifacts, contrast, and clinical application of these in very simple language with great illustrations. The authors have succeeded in publishing the best-written and most thorough of study/review books out there today.

This book helped me alot. I used it to pass my MRI registry and thought it was a hugh help.

I took the MRI Registry in October and passed. This is the only textbook you need. You do not have to buy any other. You really have to look through, dig deep, and study -- but the material and explainations are there. Good Luck
