A stay at home mom's dream-- it really works!!!

I must admit I was a bit sceptical when I first purchased this book. Couponing seemed an unlikely way to save any substantial amount of money. Boy was I wrong! This book has truly impacted our finances for the better. I am a new stay at home mother and this book really does work! I cannot believe how much money we save (or how much I wasted before). It does take time and effort to really make it work, but the savings are phenomenal. I now feel like I am contributing to our family's financial well being while staying home with our child as well. Who could ask for more! I strongly recommend this book!

When you're facing financial difficulty, the last thing you should be doing is buying consumer products like books, right? Except maybe this one and one by Mary Hunt on managing money. I remember my mom cutting coupons but I never exactly studied the science of it. Ellie Kay breaks it all down for you. you get taught about ways to save money I had no idea existed. It's a quick, easy read that you can gain skills from and immediately apply. It is the kind of lesson where you can use the tools you gain slowly then apply on a larger scale after you master some steps. It is definitely worth owning, reviewing, and referring to. I actually was directed to this book by another of Ellie's books I received upon becoming engaged--The New Bride Guide. That was a surprisingly refreshing, honest, and useful book--and believe me I read dozens of them! That one was not cliche either. Anyways, definitely pick up Shop,Save, and Share. It is worth your money and time--I promise whether you plan on cutting brand buying out of your habits or not. The beauty of learning the actual science is that you can apply it to your lifestyle at a level of stringency that is comfortable for you and your family.

A whole new revolution to saving!

I am so thankful to find such a Treaure! Ellie Kay has really done a work in educating the beginner to the novice shopper on saving and sharing!
My first jaw dropping moment was when I went to Wallie World and my total was $111.09 and after my coupons my total was $46.97! WOW.... I felt like doing the running man right there at the checkout! The cashier looked at me and said, "I want to go shopping w/you!" It was a really GREAT moment! I would've saved even more money if I had went to Meijer where they double coupons up to .50. But at the time Wal-Mart was my comfort zone. Even though Wal-Mart redeems your coupons at face value, Shop, Save, and Share teaches you to use your coupons in conjunction. For example, I had 3 coupons for Huggies: two $5 OFF coupons for diapers [got these by simply calling Kimberly-Clark and telling them what I thought of their product, Ellie teaches you this too] and 1 coupon for free wipes with the purchase of 2 packages. I never thought to do this.
Another thing I incorporated from this book was to call every manufacturing company and gave them feedback on their product, I received so many coupons, coupon booklets [all at higher price value and longer expiration dates - if any], put on their mailing list and received samples - just by calling! My shopping time has been cut in half, because she also teaches you to make your grocery/shopping list in aisle order of your store. My family has also incorporated giving to local charities, neighbors, and our local church on items that I receive free w/my coupons and items that only cost me a few pennies. For example Dog treats were on sale for $2, I had a coupon for $1 that doubled to me getting them FREE! I gave them to my neighbor and it blessed them and me too!
Although, I am a much better saver now, I still refer back to the book.
Thank you Ellie so much for all the help! You've helped me save money, spend more time w/my fam - instead of in the store and to simply bless others!

Shopping now has a whole new meaning!!

I highly recommend this book to anyone who does the bulk of their grocery shopping. Using many of the principles in Ellie's book I was able to purchase $91.82 worth of groceries and toiletries for only $28.73!! Many of the items purchased were not necessarily things that my family uses but because I was able to get many of them free I felt good knowing that I would be able to help our local food pantry.
And not only does this book help you save money but the stories are inspiring, and Ellie's own personal stories are hilarious.

This book is AWESOME. Since I read it I've been giving "coupon seminars" from my office. My coworkers are amazed by ability to cut my grocery bill by two-thirds.

I also found a distant cousin who is stationed at an air base in Germany and plan on sending my coupons to his family soon.

Ellie Kay has inspired me to save and serve.

As a Psychotherapist and campaigner for the rights of children I would recommend this book as a compulsory text for any course on child care, therapy or education.
It is gripping, moving, shocking and eye-opening. It is particularly relevant to understand the capacity of disturbed parents to hide and disguise their cruelty and the mind confusing, emotionally scarring dilemmas faced by the abused child.
And yet it is hopeful and heart warming.

I am a special education teacher at a residential treatment facility that works with children in similar situations. As an end of the year project, I read this story to my 16-18 year old high school girls. They wouldn't let me put it down. The emotions, empathy, and similar situations my girls experienced were finally put into words. David, to them, is a survivor and has given them hope for their own future! Thank you Mr. Pelzer for sharing your story and helping my girls know that they are not the only ones!

This book was about a boy named David who went through a rough time when he was younger. He would get abused by his mother and his dad was an alcholic. The boy had no right and no say in that house hold his younger brothers had more say then he did. he would get tortured everyday and his mother would make him stay and live in the basement with nothing. Later in the book he finally gets rescued and is put into a shelter home. His life isnt how it use to be anymore.

As I read this, parts of the text were unbearable. Yet, Dave's story is an unfortunate reality of the deviance that exists within the human psyche to control, manipulate and abuse another. Anyone involved with educating children in whatever form they chose should read this because the truth brings to light what is hidden in the darkness. Dave is definitely an overcomer and his book will challenge you to look at the little boys and girls we see each day...a bit more carefully and mercifully.

a truley touching story.

The story a child called "it" it shows us the life of a boy longing to be loved. he is abused by his alcoholic mother. his father is torn between the two but chooses not to tell anyone. all his younger syblings are treated with love and care. he is trying to survive in his mothers 'hell'. i recommend this book to teens and young adults it will open your eyes to smoething you might have been blinded by but yet still happens in the world today... Abuse. some people just dont have the courage to stand up for what they know and believe is right. but just think about it you would be saving and inoccent life and giving a chance that wouldnt have been givin.

Whereas the novel I mentioned in my title left me feeling cold (not to mention the author was a small child when she writes about her experiences, which must be grainy), this powerful account is simply written, but also written well. It's deliciously descriptive and emotional. I felt like I did walk in Irene's shoes, for I saw everything through her eyes (true, it was written in first-person point-of-view), instead of like watching a movie.

By the way, I think this would make a great film, though I am not sure if there is an actress beautiful enough to play Irene (who really should be played by a young, unknown girl, age appropriate, not a trashy pop starlet, who would degrade).

Through it all (being raped by two Russian soldiers and left for dead, becoming a German officer's mistress to protect her Jewish friends, etc.), Irene maintains an innocence that is refreshing, and when she loses her first truelove before they have a chance to marry, it broke my heart.

I will say I have an even dimmer view of the Catholic Church than I did before (not Catholics in general, just some of the politics of the religion), because when Irene goes to a priest to confess being a German's lover to save the lives of her friends, he says, "They are Jews", and I could actually hear the inflection in his voice that said, "They're just Jews", like they weren't worth saving. This un-Christlike priest refuses to give her absolution, which, from a doctrinal standpoint I understand, but not from a spiritual standpoint. Yes, Irene was sinning, but she was not committing crimes against humanity, and I believe my God is a merciful and just God and that He understands for He can see Irene's soul.

This deeply religious, courageous woman has earned my respect and her chronicle is hardcover worthy.

My 14-year-old daughter read this book and insisted that I read it. When I finally agreed, I could not put the book down. The story is so well told that you can can truly understand the experience of a 17-year-old girl in the midst of the horrible events. A compelling book that everyone should read and discuss.

I often think of this woman in my day to day life. She serves as a testament to all mankind that we must put others first and fight for the just cause. What she went through herself is quite harrowing. I am happy that she has been honored with a tree planted in her name at Yad Vashem in Israel. An easy read and a book that you cannot put down. She is truly inspirational.

Interesting right through the very end.

Unlike most characters featured in such books, Irene Opdyke had no vested interest in helping the Jews during the Nazi occupation of Poland. She began her work in small, timid steps, gradually growing more bold and forceful as she matured. The story is told in an entirely credible and sympathetic way, without forcing young readers to wade though long narratives of graphic atrocities. I found the afterward to be the most moving and memorable part of the entire book.

Yoga for Health

I became acquainted with Richard Hittleman through his PBS program, "Yoga for Health." As a young adult, I used to watch this show on a regular basis. Imagine how pleased I was to find a book based on the same type of exercises which were on this particular program.
This is the third time I have purchased this book. The first copy fell apart after many years of use. The second was a gift to a friend and this last one is for my husband and myself.
As you can see I am very partial to this book. I like the fact that there is the 28 day plan which you can do at your own pace and a schedule you can follow after you have completed this plan, which incorporates all the exercises you have previously learned. I have seen other yoga books, but this is my favorite because it stresses the importance of yoga being "concerned with the health and beauty of the organism as a unified whole," rather than just self-improvement for the body.

An excellent way to be introduced to Yoga!

I first used a copy of this book way back when Richard Hittleman had a PBS program on yoga. I've returned to this book on and off ever since.

The yoga practice he teaches here is:

1) easy to do for anyone, regardless of fitness level or age.
2) presented in simple, daily, DO-able sequences.
3) nicely illustrated with photographs that show exactly how to do the postures.
4) supplemented with daily "yogic wisdom" that teaches what yoga practice can do for you.
5) finished with practice routines that you can use, well, forever.

In short, this is one of the best beginner yoga books out there. One that you'll use for a lifetime.

Soul Communication by Zhi Gang Sha is a contradiction and an enigma. Based on one simple teaching - that everything has a soul and that all soul seeks to serve - it explains a core reality that Einstein was seeking to formulate, but does so in terms so simple that even a child can understand. Moreover, though completely unique, this book is eminently practical. A hundred years from now, when the skills it teaches - including Soul Language, Third Eye and Direct Knowing - have become more commonplace, "Soul Communication" will still be the revered classic. If you want a glimpse of the brightest new wave in the spiritual awareness that is sweeping the planet today, be sure to read this book. It is a profound gift to all humanity. Thank you, Master Sha.

While what I read seems very interesting, the reviews were pretty misleading, as they were all for the complete book, not for this short ebook that is basically a preview. It's one chapter, or part of one chapter of the complete book. This short does NOT give you the exact "how-to" of soul communication, but it does give you a sneak peek at what it's about for a fraction of the cost. Amazon really should keep separate reviews for the short and complete works.

So I read the reviews. With one or two exceptions, all the reviews were written within a week of one another and they all sounded remarkably alike. My guess is that students/followers of this author were sent a message after publication of this book asking them to write reviews. Who are these people trying to fool? I would expect his followers to like the book. I wanted to read what OTHERS thought of it. This completely put me off of buying this book.

One of the few motivational books I have ever sat down and read cover to cover, let alone doing it three times. And each time I do, I seem to find new inspiration from it, a new angle I hadn't noticed was there before. Trus me, you can take my word for it. Reading an inspiration book once is a biggie for me since I need to be entertained when I read. Most times you'll find me with a good mystery in my hands or some other type of suspensful drama. That's why I write fiction Beauty Enslaved Yet, I can tell you that each chapter is a gem, well organized in little compartments that are retrieved with ease whenever memory needs them.
I love the seven Universal Laws of Success. I can almost rattle them off by heart. But my favorite chapter is the one that deals with The Three Unseen Assistants to Success. I have finally found someone who thinks as I do, who believes in that special intervention.
I'm not going to say anymore. I wouldn't want to spoil it for anyone browsing. But if you're out there looking for the one book that will change your life, THIS IS THE ONE.

I have read a lot of similar books recently - I was in the middle of another one and dropped it to completely read this one. While the information is not totally new, the way the author lays out the information and gives practical advice was helpful. The book is very easy to read, keeps you engaged and does not get involved with a lot of the "woo-woo" that other books like this do - which in turn can deter more skeptical readers from continuing on. I enjoyed reading this and know I will turn to it again for future reference.

If money were a math problem, our nation would not have so many highly educated people so far in debt. We all learned basic math in elementary school. In our culture, money represents value, power, worth, and wealth. Our debt problems are an outward manifestation of the lack of those things inside of us. I cannot believe how many people I know with a PHD or more than one master's degree who are still living in debt and poverty. Until we learn to find our wealth and power inside, we'll live a life of poverty. Chellie Campbell shows you the path to true wealth. This book is life changing, and I often give it away as a gift! I always have several copis on hand on my gift shelf. I also highly recommend Chellie's other book Zero to Zillionare and Money Magic by Deborah L. Price.

Once in a while, if you're lucky, you happen upon a book that can make a positive difference in your life. "The Wealthy Spirit" by Chellie Campbell is just such a book. Arranged in bite-size nuggets of wit and wisdom, the book tackles the serious issue of eliminating financial worries. Chellie inspires the reader to appreciate his or her personal value, to decide what's important in his or her life, and, with the realization "I can do that" to get moving to take the actions and make the positive changes that can make those worries disappear. While I think just about everyone can get some inspiration from this book, it is especially perfect for every entrepreneur and for anyone contemplating getting off the corporate treadmill. "The Wealthy Spirit" is a daily pep talk. I highly recommend this book.

It's an amazing book which is also very very user-friendly. Besides clear explanations of all the terminology such as "Ashtanga", "Bandhas" and so on, it's equipped with a spiral binding and a hard cover so that you could read/ watch it by practice the movements. In addition, it will teach a series movements instead of separate movements (like some Yoga books do) so that you could have an idea of the whole "flow" of the movements. It's very useful and practical. I would strongly recommend this book to whoever wants to learn this amazing Ashtanga Yoga.

I had to discover more about this amazing man and how he could convey such a positive message about life and mankind after surviving one of the more horrific events in our world's history. Mr. Wiener connects with the reader and brings the Holocaust to life, yet with all of the atrocities comes a story of forgiveness. This is a book that will take on new meaning each time it is read. I have read it twice cover to cover and will read it once a year to remind myself of why we continue to teach tolerance. Mr. Wiener's book leaves the reader with a feeling of hope. It, in my opinion, should be in every library in the world. This book will leave a positive mark on the life of anyone who reads it. It is a "must read."

I've had he honor of hearing Mr. Weiner speak twice in person at the youth corrections facility where I teach. He has an uncanny ability to give a human voice to the most horrific experiences, and he made an indelible impression on my students. Thank you, Mr. Weiner.

Alter Weiner's poignant memoir of the Holocaust, "From A Name To A Number," should be required reading for all high school social studies students, and indeed, all those who seek public office. The systematic abuse and horrors that Weiner experienced in the absence of a rule of law should not be forgotten by today's society.

Weiner's honesty in describing confronting the terror and tragedy of his Holocaust experiences and the random randiness of post-Holocaust encounters with women, also scarred and broken by the war, bring a special sense of humanity to the book, and to the times he descibes, that is often absent in Holocaust accounts.

As we live through another time of war, this one not being shared by the general public but by only one-half of one percent of the US population who is either in unifrom or who has a family member in the military, we should reflect upon the enormous and crushing burden our leaders have placed on those in harms way...and think about the innocents caught in the malestrom of war.

Weiner is a profile of courage and I awed and inspired by his ability to carry on after all he's lived through.

It was such a privilege read Alter Weiner's story. In his own words he tells of life before the war and then the horrors we cannot even imagine. His book is spellbinding. With such a tragic story, I found the book uplifting. He points out the good in humanity, yet he saw not hundreds, but thousands of people die at the hands of the Nazis. He's a living testimony that no matter what happens to us, the human spirit can still soar.

Since I read his book, there hasn't been a day that I don't thank God for the life I live. As Alter and other Holocaust survivors share their experiences, they educate, strengthen and warn us. For a man that lost 122 members of his family, Alter Weiner tells the story without rage or hatred--a lesson to us all.

Alter Wiener has taken his story of horrific tragedy and used it for such great good. I have had the honor of not only reading this book, but hearing Alter speak, sharing a meal with him and connecting him to many students. His story is told in a way that is completely attainable for everyone. He brought history to life for all of us. His story is one that he lives with everyday. I think what impacted me the most was the fact that the holocaust has continued for him many years after his freedom. This is something we do not hear enough about. The aftermath of the psychological and relational devastation it has on everyone who was involved and in fact for us all became apparent though this book. We often hear the stories of the holocaust, concentration camps, horrible furnaces that burned people, loss of life and dignity, but we rarely hear what the survivors lives are like afterward. Alter has such a beautifully resilient heart and mind, he could have chosen to close this story up forever, however by sharing it, he give others hope in the most devastating of situations. The most valuable element of this book, is perspective. Perspective on our lives today, perspective on the sacredness of life. Alter, thank you for telling your story and touching my life as well as the many others you have changed and will touch.

The Lost Years is a must read for anyone in the counseling/addictions field! I was assigned to read this book for a Substance Abuse course and I was a little bit apprehensive to read another book about addictions, but this was not just another book; it was different. The Lost Years gives remarkable insight into the mind/heart/soul/motivations of a young woman addicted to alcohol and cocaine and also the mother's side of the story. I picked up this book in the morning and by the end of the afternoon, I had finished it. I truly could not put it down. A gripping story and a great read for anyone, but a MUST READ for professionals in the field. I think that I will be a better counselor and a better person for having read Kristina and her mother's story. Thank you so much for this book!

I have read many books on the subject of addiction from both the addicts experience and the parent. This book is the first book that spoke to the path of recovery for both parties interwoven sequentially where you could see the process to recovery for both parties and how they are really the same.

This book is wonderful! It details the decent into addiction as well as the battle out and it does so from two perspectives-- mother and daughter. I highly recommend this book. It is very well written and informative.

This was a really good book. It was extremely hard to put down. The only complaint I have about the book is that the ending was a little to much like a fairy tale, almost to the point that it wasn't entirely believable. Happy endings are nice, but no one has a perfect life no matter what you want people to believe.

This book is so clearly one whose time has come. Waiting for a decade to pass before writing the story down allowed the events to be processed and fully digested. Feelings on all sides were clearly no longer raw, hostility had passed, and growth had occured which gave way for honesty and truth to shine through on every page.

This book gives people hope that change - in many forms - is real, attainable, and sustainable.

Read it! You will be glad you did.
