I was headed for some or most of these things. Being a teen my self i could relate to all of these things and the feelings in the stories. These stories made me veiw things from a different side. Like my parents i was having fights with them. I thought that they were against me fully. Well after readin these stories i learned the hard way that my parents weren't against me they were with me and only trying to protect me. If you are a teen and in trouble, have questions, or anything else i FULLY recomend this book for you.

Great stories in this book! The stories deal with EVERYTHING a teenager goes thru and then some.

For teens that aren't usually big time readers, this book is great. Short stories that hold their interest....and keep their interest. Maybe they will go on to read more often? :)

This is an amazing book. I am a children's yoga teacher. This book has changed how I teach. The children love the stories. Their attention is totally on the story. Then when you add yoga to it, it gives the children a chance to embrace and act out the story. I would highly recommend this and Sydney's other book to everyone. You don't have to be a yoga teacher to enjoy this. The art of telling stories has been lost and I'm glad Sydney is bringing it. it is a great way to connect with others.

Written for teachers, librarians and yoga instructors, author/yoga instructor Sydney Solis details how yoga is beneficial for young children and how incorporating this ancient spiritual practice into storytelling can help to achieve a deeper level of understanding. The book gives excellent concrete examples of how to deal with real situations that might arise with children including how to maintain control of the class and how to set rules. A class curriculum is outlined including folk tales, their theme, country of origin along with corresponding yoga poses for each character or action. A chapter with black and white photographs and detailed explanations of how to do the various poses is also included.

This is one of the few good yoga books to help teach yoga to children of all ages. It has information on what should happen during the yoga class for different ages of children. It includes stories, songs, games, and ideas to get kids motivated. All my yoga students who are children love the stories and games that come from this book. It has encouraged me to be more free during a children's yoga class.

This book is wonderful!

If you teach children's yoga or want to begin yoga with your children at home then this book is the one to buy. I have structured my class using the recommendations that Sydney Solis gives in the book with warmups and centerings, etc... I have also used all the stories in the book and have went on to use other stories and folk tales I personally enjoy incorporating yoga as I tell the story. My yoga students and my own children thoroughly enjoy each class I teach and I appreciate Storytime Yoga in helping me get started.

This book gave a lot of tips for being an effective substitute teacher. It is chuckful of interesting tidbits to help newbies in the field. I particularly liked that the professional standpoint that it took on how to make a good name for yourself as a substitute teacher. It is a very positive book. It is easy to read because the writer does not talk above you or at you rather at your level. Nor is it like the typical self help books that tend to drive the reader into overload with all sorts of new information. I would say it is more along the lines of reasoning and wisdom when it comes to teaching children. I appreciated the perspectives that Barbara offered in her book. They gave a lot of food for thought. I enjoyed reading it.

I purchased this book for my sister. She was starting a job as a sub. She went in with the book in hand on her first day. She had a free period first and read some of the book. When she got to the first class that she had to teach, she implemented some of what she read immediately. She said it was "perfect timing". The book is great.

Lots of life lessons learned by the author are related in a simple way so that you feel as if you are chatting with an experienced teacher who is giving you all the best secrets they have. Loved it!

It is amazing that it has taken this long for someone to put together a "bible" for the substitute teacher. Without a doubt, Prof. Pressman has made a major contribution to the teaching profession. As someone that has been a teacher, counselor, adminstrator and education consultant, it is clear that this book needs to be required reading for anyone that plans to step into a classroom as a substitute. As a fourth year orthopedic surgery resident this book has been of invaluable help in learning and reviewing the classic surgical approaches to the muskuloskeletal apparatus and its associated anatomy. Its lenguage is clear and concise, further supported by superb graphics. The fact that this book is in almost every orthopedist's library probably speaks for itself. This is an absolute must.

This is a great book with most of the surgical approaches that I've come in contact with. It combines concise descriptions of the anatomy with graphics in a nice, easy-to-access way.

The arthroscopic chapters are a little lame but the classical, exposures are simply a must for any resident that want to learn the different exposures.

When comparing, I find that the latest edition hasn't added that much to the book and I wouldn't recommend getting the latest edition unless your very into colors.

I believe all hospital libraries should hold a copy of this excellent book. The price is rather steep for an individual and therein lies my only crib against this book. I had to fork over almost a month's pay to get my copy. On to what I think of the content.

Clear descriptions aided with crisp colour drawings make most exposures a breeze. This is an ideal book to look through before stepping into the OR. It is also I believe the only effort to approach anatomy from the orthopaedic surgeon's point of view. All good.

Bottom line: Con your hospital/department to buy it for you. If they refuse to play ball, start saving because you want this one on your desk.

Fantastic book for kids with ADHD/ ADD. It has really helped in our household and I cannot recommend it highly enough. It is easy enough for kids to read and has loads of great chapters - Eating right, Ways to succeed at school, How to make and keep friends etc etc.

It talks about ADHD in a non-confronting way and has been an enormous help. My daughter carries it with her and quotes from it all the time. She has become a little more settled since reading this book and I think she is starting to understand a bit more about why she behaves the way she does.

This book is wonderful for parents to read with their child who is diagnosed with ADD/ADHD. My daughter loves it because it is something she can read by herself and understand about ADD, I think it's an invaluable tool for a parent because it helps me understand about ADD as well. The book has great worksheets throughout that are very helpful for parents to evaluate and see how their children feel and assess themselves. I think this is a great book, especially if you would like to read along with your child or if you have an independent reader who loves to learn.

I would give this book 6 stars if I could. The format is laid out so that it's easy to flip to and find a specific activity. I am very fond of this book. It is a great guide offering almost "duh!" like activities (things that you would never even think of going out of your way to teach your kids) to do with your toddler in order to help them gain a sense of independence and accomplishment. That said, almost all the activities can be done without going out and buying a whole bunch of materials. I particularly like this book as a mom interested in the Montessori method, but not being able to afford to put my children in the pricey Montessori schools in my area. The book is easy and pleasant to read; it's in colour and has plenty of photos. Also, if there is an activity your child really likes, it has suggestions for other activities similar in nature. I like that the book shows you many of the activities they do, but leaves it up to you how you would like to present them to your kids. The book does not specifically tell you what age range the child has to be in order to present an activity, but it does state in the beginning that it presents the activities in order of being the easier concepts to grasp to the more difficult (specifically chapters 1,2, & 5). The author tells you to use your judgement on what you think your child can handle (for instance if they seem to like counting and maths, they will more likely progress faster with the maths activities. I personally would've liked a generic age range per activity, but I understand the point the author is trying to make. I just like that the author gives us the activities the Montessori schools do, but doesn't require the reader to completely apply the Montessori method. I plan on using this as a reference since I would like to educate my children myself until they reach kindergarten.

This is a wonderful book for parents wanting to do basic Montessori activities at home, and it also suggests inexpensive ways to make activities as well. I gave this book one less star because it doesn't tell you what activities are age appropriate. I know all children develop and excel in different ways and times, but a little more guidance would have been helpful.

One of the most valuable features of Carol Baldwin's outstanding book is its adaptability to a wide range of teaching circumstances. Many classroom teachers will treasure it as a complete fiction-writing curriculum. Others will select and adapt ideas and lessons to meet their students' special needs. As a writer who visits and leads workshops in a variety of classrooms, I find it a wonderfully adaptable resource to enhance whatever aspect of writing the workshop emphasizes. I look forward to Carol Baldwin's next book.

Clear and easy to use, both my child and I have enjoyed going through the lessons -- a big change from the struggle I used to have with my son who once claimed, "I don't like to write."

It also works for high school sophomores!

I am so thankful that Ms. Baldwin suggested that I use her materials in my high school sophomore English class! I was having a difficult time knowing what creative writing to teach and how to teach it. This book is easy to follow, easy to use, and easy to modify for older students. Now my unit is organized, and the students have the tools they need to guide them on the sometimes bumpy but always scenic road to writing a story! Their final products now show a cohesiveness and a depth that were missing before. Thank you!

"Teaching The Story: Fiction Writing In Middle School" was developed from materials that freelance writer Carol Baldwin developed when she taught creative writing in several different middle-school classrooms over the years. "Teaching The Story" is a thoroughly 'student friendly' curriculum supplement that will enable classroom teachers to prepare their students for standardizing testing, as well as for their academic writing assignments. Baldwin's flexible approach to teaching creative writing skills to children are especially appropriate for students seeking to write coherent and readable sports, fantasy, science fiction, mystery, and historical stories. Enhanced with more than seventy customizable transparencies and reproducibles included on an accompanying CD, "Teaching The Story" is strongly recommended for use with grades 5 through 8.

This book was very informative. Writing is a hard subject to teach and this is a book that can help you get started after reading it. I learned about target skills that are appropriate for K-2 students. There are not a lot of good books that focus on writing in the early grades. I can't wait to use what I learned in my classroom next year.

The only negative is that I wish there were more assessment and set up suggestions.

Technical Analysis by Kirkpatrick and Dahlquist has raised the bar and set the standard for TA books. It's far more advanced than Murphy's Technical Analysis of the Financial Markets, and a much easier read, as well as more scientific, than Pring's Technical Analysis Explained.

It consists of 629 pages loaded - I'm talking small type - with brilliant insights on stock analysis and market analysis. The book serves as a guide, a text book on TA, and a myth buster of some of the "pie in the sky" vodoo that tends to distort the image of TA. It tells you - with statistics and scientific research - what's effective, what was never effective and what used to be effective. After already having read several investment books on TA and fundamental analyis and having went to B-School, I still learned both fundamental things and TA things from this book.

I read this because it was required reading for the CMT exam and I really wish I'd read it when I started trading a few years ago. It's easy to read and conveys a wealth of information that anyone who trades would find useful. The chapters on the TA controversy, charts, trends, MAs, and cycles are especially clear. Also valuable is that it's a serious book with none of the hype thrown in by authors of TA books who are really selling themselves. My only criticism is that the authors seem to believe they have to throw every technique and oscillator they've ever heard of into this book, regardless of whether they're of any value. But this allows the CMT people who prepare the exam to throw in questions on obscure topics as well.

The authors are Kirkpatrick and Dahlquist. Mr Kirkpatrick is an instructor in finance, Fort Lewis College School of Business Administration in Colorado and Ms Dahlquist is a senior lecturer in the Department of Finance at University of Texas. Ms Dahlquist has a Ph.D. The book has an impressive bibliography. It is 19 pages long and includes some papers not readily available to the general public. At the end of each chapter and Appendix A there are a list of review questions. I answered all of these questions and by the end of the book I was confident that I had come to grips with the subject matter.

This book is very smooth to read, and the insights are thoughtful. It is definitely a classic in Technical Analysis. However, the charts could use a little more simplicity. When you compare the charts in this book and the ones in the J. Murphy's "Technical Analysis Of The Financial Markets", considered the bible of Technical Analysis you spot the difference. The latter is a heavy volume but it can be read faster, because of the self-explanatory charts.

Overall, a must-have!
