I subscribed to "Cook's Illustrated" from the first year they started(1993)at the end of the year I purchase the annual. I have all there companion books and CD's from the TV show on PBS "Test Kitchen" I have all of their cookbooks in the "Best of" series. It is the best books for beginners and confident cooks.

I love Cook's Illustrated magazine. They do extensive testing with recipe variations to find out how to get the best possible results. If you are just looking for recipes, this magazine probably isn't the best option, but if you like to see how a recipe develops into a keeper, then this is for you.

This November-December 2006 issue contains articles titled Better Arugula Salads, Favorite Spice Rubs, Easy Chocolate Pots de Creme, Upgrading Green Bean Casserole, Simplifying Coq au Vin, Multigrain Pancakes Worth Eating, No-Bake Pumpkin Pie, Perfecting Penne alla Vodka, Ultimate Beef Tenderloin, Rethinking Roast Turkey. It also includes nine equipment reviews, six articles from the Tasting Lab, twelve cooking Quick Tips, and more.

This September-October 2006 issue contains articles titled Putting the Apple into Applesauce Cake, Ultimate Dinner Rolls, Rethinking Crêpes Suzette, Flavor-Packed Fresh Tomato Sauces, How to Cook Prime Rib Outdoors, Grill-Roasted Prime Rib for Charcoal or Gas Grill, Chicken and Rice, Latino Style, Really Good Mushroom Lasagna, Better Roast Chicken and Vegetables, Improving Sautéed Pork Tenderloin. It also includes seven equipment reviews, five articles from the Tasting Lab, thirteen cooking Quick Tips, and more.

I'm a big CI fan and have been following them for several years now. I picked up this issue as an impulse buy at the supermarket and have used several recipes from it in just a few short weeks.

Although I don't know if all the recipes are compiled from several past issues of Cook's Illustrated's bi-monthly magazine, I noticed several that overlap - which is a good thing in fact, because its nice to have some of "the best of the best for summer" recipes all in one spot. It also makes a nice gift for someone newer to grilling or cooking.

Some of the recipes we've made are:

- grilled swordfish, accompanied by one of their fabulous Simple Fruit Salsa recipes (Mango and Sweet Pepper Salsa with Toasted Pepitas)...these 2 recipes are going to be perpetual favorites. The next time we made swordfish, we tried it with the Pineapple and Cucumber Salsa with Mint Simple Fruit Salad, and that was also a nice, fresh, different tasting salsa we really enjoyed.

- (quick) Strawberry Shortcake - this was the first time I ever made Strawberry Shortcake and this recipe was so simple, I don't know why I never made it before. This would make a lovely dessert for after dinner or even served for brunch. Note that I didn't have a biscuit cutter or cookie cutters that weren't weird shapes, so I used a 1/3 C dry ingredient measuring cup instead and it worked great!

- Sangria - This recipe is definitely from one of the old CI issues and a fav of ours that we make all year long. It is an absolute winner.

- Grilled, Marinated Flank Steak - We love grilling flank steak and this recipe includes 3 Marinade options so you have a few options.

For grilling "newbies" also included is "An Illustrated Guide to Tender Steaks" that breaks down different cuts available and rates them by tenderness, price and flavor. Illustrations are also provided along with a couple interesting notes about each cut...This guide is very useful to aid in buying the perfect steak.

This issue is worth the investment, and I look forward to purchasing other special entertaining issues from CI.

I was looking to replace the 2008 April issue of the Country Living magazine for my mom. She has collected every issue of this magazine for many years and there was a mix up in her subscription. She was unable to get this one. I was very pleased to find it on Amazon. We received it in excellent condition and in good time. It was great service and we appreciate that. I will order again from Amazon in the future.

My husband and I are newlyweds and have been experimenting with ways to have mutually meaningful devotions together. We've used the Couples Devotional Bible together several times, and it's an excellent resource. The devotionals are fairly short and simple but they have sparked good discussion for us. You can also get some GREAT deals if you buy it on Amazon Marketplace!

This book is a collection of the cover girls, originally created for Wanai-magazine. The book comes in a box, and has a number of extra items (a cloth banner, a sticker book etc.). Either you like the artwork or you don't I enjoyed it and would recommend it to others, it was a little pricey for this type of thing (I paid about $50 US), but that is what you get with an out of print book.

This is 2006 reprint of the 1997 edition of Craphound #6. This edition is longer than the original by 8 pages (2 pages of eyes, 2 pages of hearts, and 4 pages of hands. Pages are brimming with high quality, black and white images on the theme of death (lots of skulls and skeletons), telephones and scissors. It's published by Show and Tell Press in Oregon and published in Canada. It measure 8.5 x 11 inches and has about 100 pages of images.
