This fold out book/theatre is wonderful for my five year old daughter. She plays with it every day since Santa brought it for Christmas. It's great imaginative play, and it's great for familiarizing her with the art of ballet and the classical music of Tchaikovsky. The backdrops, sets, and dancing figures are enchanting. I can see my daughter playing with it for months and years to come.

WONDERFUL!!!!

This is a wonderful set. The details of the design are amazing. There is a drawer to hold the book, backdrops, and characters which makes it easy to keep everything together. It folds out easily into a stage and the backdrops are a breeze to slide into place. The dancers are on long sticks so they may be moved around the stage from above and there are holes in the stage so that characters may "stand" while other characters are in play. Everything came preassembled and it was ready to be played with right out of the box.

As if all of this wasn't good enough, there is a great book that comes along with it. It not only tells the story of the ballet in a simple narrative, it also has information about the story's history, the composer, and the choreographer. At the beginning of each new scene, the book shows the reader what characters and what backdrop should be used and the book even cues what track on the accompanying CD should be played! The illustrations are beautiful and the book can be enjoyed on its own without the play set.

My daughter is ten and she loves it; I certainly wouldn't think that eight is the oldest age that this set can be enjoyed. If a child is a serious student of ballet, I would expand the age range to the early teens. After seeing my daughter's copy, her repertory teacher is ordering it to use in company classes. If you are buying something for a child who is interested in ballet, I definitely recommend this product.

This first novel by Joe Tompkins is a delightful read. It is a modern rendition of the Sleeping Beauty story, with many twists and turns. I found myself completely caught up in the action of the story; in fact, I finished reading the book the day after I bought it because I couldn't put it down. While I liked all the characters, I especially liked Corey, the narrator's brother. Maybe I like him because he reminds me so much of so many students I've had! The author has done a great job of making the characters realistic and likable, even the magical fairies. The action in the book doesn't stop; there is very little "down time" for Jasen, Corey, Elayne, and Emily. Throughout all that happens in the novel, humor is present, giving the book just enough of a light-hearted feel without making it too stress-filled. I think this book will definitely appeal to young adult readers.

Simply an amazing book!

There's something in this book for everyone! "Sleeping Beauty Overslept" is cleverly plotted with a satisfying finish. Joe Tompkins skillfully blends together: traditional fairy tale, mystery, thriller and fantasy. This novel is for the young and old alike!

I love this magical book. It is easy to read and the level is easy-intermediate. It is one of my most favorites. It is almost impossible to find "The Sleeping Beauty" by Tchaikovsky in the easy-intermediate level.

Outstanding!

This book combines literature, art and music beautifully. The piano arrangement is of intermediate to advanced student level. A terrific book if your children want to perform for a small group.

this is a great book for anyone who's into sneakers. you don't have to be a "head" to enjoy the pretty pictures and the interviews. it's great that the author talked about where to hunt for sneakers in various cities around the world. now if only the book was bigger in size so the details of the sneakers can be appreciated more....

Stylish guide to modern cool

Out of a sea of wordy self-helps comes this smart, funny and concise guide to a world of modern girl's dilemmas, as well as some tips that will just impress - and it's small enough to fit in your handbag. Cleverly indexed at the front with headings like "boy trouble" and "do it yourself (coz no-one else is going to do it for you) you can pick up the know-how on things like getting a hotel upgrade to making a martini. My favourite was "three experts you must have". Wittily written, but serious nonetheless, Hawkes has gone the distance with advice included from seasoned professionals. My skeptical boyfriend seized on "how to light a campfire" - something apparently a girl wouldnt know - and was surprised to find practical and thorough information. Ditto "how to change a wheel". You go girl!

I bought this book for my boyfriend for Christmas, because he loves the Southern Illinois region. This book was all I hoped for and more. The pages are filled with page after page of lush scenery taken by a gifted photographer. This is more than just a coffee table book. The pages could be removed and framed, and not a soul would guess that the beautiful photos on the wall were pages from a book. Truly a work of art.

I recieved a copy of this book a few years ago. I still love to pull this book out from time to time to rediscover the beautiful landscapes of Southern Illinois through Ned's eyes. Ned Trovillion was a wonderful man, gentle nature, kind to everyone, and one of the best photographers in the country. He truly captures the natural beauty and historic charm of this part of the country. I recommend this book to anyone who has a heart for Southern Illinois.

Review Date: 2007-07-08
Stolen Beauty: Healing the Scars of Child Abuse is the true-life memoir of Amy Madden, a survivor of childhood sexual abuse inflicted on her by her stepfather. Growing up with the shame, hurt, and vulnerability, feeling that the abuse she suffered was her fault, she retreated into a depressed, mistrustful state of despair. The road to recovery was a long and involved process of therapy, study, prayer, and developing strong faith in her own inner strength and spirit - the qualities she once possessed as a child so long ago. An invaluable testimony especially recommended as the experience of a kindred spirit for anyone seeking understanding during their own long journey to recovery from the trauma of abuse.

Beautiful, inspiring and a must read!

I devoured this book in less than two days! It's beautifully written and inspiring for anyone who has suffered abuse or is still suffering today from abuse. Madden offers insight to the horrors of abuse but most of all, how to heal from such experiences. Her reflections on healing and forgiveness are astounding and a highlight of this hard-to-put-down tearjerker. She brings home the point that having faith in yourself and learning how to love yourself is a key element in the forgiveness process. This is a must read for anyone who wants to heal from the bad experiences they may have gone through as a child.

This book is something that I will refer to time and time again. It is not only for people in their 30's, it is especially useful for people in their 50's and 60's. Ms. Myers writes like she is talking to a friend, which makes understanding her ideas easier.

Judy's book is a great motivator, very funny, down-to-earth,

I found this book so hilarious that I bought 3 of them and will give them to friends as presents. Judy motivates without trying to and you find yourself in a position to ease into a workable workout without losing sleep over it. The good humor throughout - it really does not stop - is a refreshing new leaf in the broad spectrum of fitness books available. Judy never makes you feel that you have to be built like an athlete already and then it is simply a question of making an already perfect body into an even more perfect body. I recommend this book to everyone, including those who already have an abundance of fitness books...

I am so pulled to the Therapy part of the hit tv show The Swan. I was hoping the book would cover that part or at least lead you in the right direction.

Im very happy with the book I read it in less than 24 hours and now im doing the workbook part of it.

All tho you dont get the 3 mos all by yourself to do this , the book is a great alternitive. It walks you through the steps that you need to cover come your past and work on your present.

The book is not full of cosmetic surgery jumbo, it bearly speaks of it really . This book is all about the therapy part of that program. It is money well spent.

I would recommend it to anyone. There are areas everyone can work on and this book will make you think about them and help you do something about them.

I saw this author on Life and Style and it intrigued me, but I waited to buy the book. Forget every makeover book or magazine you have read. They mean nothing to this book. You don't need to be on the show. The contents of this book will change your life. I'm buying a copy for every girl I know and you should too.
