This book is a sea monster of a book. It's enormous. It will rise up and devour anything else ever written on Lee's Ferry. Be careful where you place it on your shelf.
It's a huge, heavy brick of a book. Buy enough copies and use it as a building material. Take one with you as firestarter for a ten-year expedition. Or, read it.
Pick it up, intending on only leafing through it, and then find yourself unable to put it down, find yourself trapped in an absorbing, fascinating, well-researched, well-written Bible of information.
This book is a must for anyone interested in Lee's Ferry, Arizona--a ferry crossing on the Colorado River where sooner or later every single cowboy, outlaw, Indian, and zealot in the Old West passed by.
If you're interested in a much thinner book that you can read in a night or two, try W.L. Rusho and C. Gregory Crampton's "Desert River Crossing," or Joanna Joseph's "Lee's Ferry & Lonely Dell Ranch Historic Districts: A Walking Tour Guide."
But if you want an avalanche of fact, if you want a town-destroying tidal wave of knowledge, if you want to be bludgeoned to death with valid, pertinent, astounding history, lore, and information, then pick up a copy (if you're strong enough) of "Lee's Ferry: From Mormon Crossing to National Park," by P.T. Reilly, expert riverman and writer.
Your chiropractor will thank me.

This is a fantastic book. Great for all ages. It takes a good book for me to stay interested, but I could not put this one down. From the first page to the last I was totally intrigued. I was taken back to my own childhood and the fantasies from those golden days when my father would tell me stories such as this one.
The story of the boy mysteriously finding himself in the time of pirates, treasures, and ships, is so enticing and exciting. To imagine that in the mist of all this he finds true freindship and love is so incredible. I loved the mystery of the mine, the treasure, the pirates. Especially old Split Eye. He is a fantastic character in this book. I also like the way the author "keeps you on your toes" with this book. He keeps it going, making it fun and easy to read.
I highly reccomend this book for all ages. I have read it with my 8 and 12 year old. They loved it. It's a book that can by enjoyed by the whole family.

York and Evelyn Jones collected all the great stories and documents of their ancestors they could find to write this book and their follow-up book "Henry Lunt Biography" written in 1996.Henry Lunt: Biography and history of the development of Southern Utah and settling of Colonia Pacheco, Mexico / [written by Evelyn K Jones]
Children grew up fast in 1850-1890 southwestern Utah. When Lehi's father died in 1861, he and siblings had to grow up even faster than others. The book is chuck full of experiences and details about exactly how to make cheese and all kinds of other survival activities.
All in all, an enjoyable insightful read.

This volume contains a set of essential articles by well known analysts in the field of lithic debitage analysis. These papers consider the strengths and weaknesses of the various common approaches (e.g. debitage size distribution, flake attributes, etc.) to lithic debitage analysis current in the field today. The volume is a very useful reference.

Astounding, entertaining, often amusing account of an adventure's first recreational descent of the Green and Colorado rivers, through the tumultuous Lodore, Cataract, and Grand canyons, in a 15-1/2 foot wooden boat, in 1896. This "log," or journal was kept contemporaneously in handwritten notes (some of which are reproduced) as the journey progressed from one series of rapids and trepidations to the next. Informatively edited and elucidatingly annotated by the formidable team of Carmony and Brown, the book is illustrated with historical photos, and includes an impressive bibliography. This is "must" reading for anyone who works or plays on these rivers, and ought to be in the dry bag of every river tourist.
