I bought this book to help us with our "day trips" in Georgia and it is just what I needed. It gives you the pertinent info such as directions, fees, times and highlights. Highly recommended to keep in your car for those things you might want to do in a town you are passing through.

The ONLY guide to Georgia you should bother with
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 1998-02-16
Those who are looking for the real Georgia, not the politically correct, Yankeefied, love-me love-me obsequiousness of the current day chamber of commerce will be well pleased with this volume. It's well worth the search and will provide many enjoyable, informative day trips despite being somewhat dated. However, thanks to Mr. Spalding, one can easily check the back of the book for updated road access. Go ahead and have Amazon search for it- you'll be glad you did. -Marianna

The Ghost on the Ramparts presents fourteen of R. B. Heilman's essays on the teaching of English and the profession of the humanities. Written mainly since 1960, these essays deal with such diverse topics as administrative ways and means, pedagogical shibboleths and heresies, uses and abuses of literacy, cliches of style, moot issues of history and criticism, and above all the nature of the humanities and their continuing significance. The persuasive discussions of all these subjects reflect the author's wide profesional experience, his wit and wisdom, his superb sense of style.

This is a really good book if you want a deep look into Georgia Football history. Stegeman did his homework. I highly recommend this book and "A Tailgater's Guide To SEC Football" for any serious Georgia or SEC enthusiasts.

The best written book on US gold coins I have seen
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 1998-12-11
Despite little previous knowledge of this subject, I came away with profound respect for both these coins and the men who struck them. This book was extremely well written and done in a way that it appeals to all levels: rank amateur such as myself or professional coin dealer like my friend John who read the book at the same time I did.
