This book was found to be extremely helpful in development of a new aquatic facility for the developmentally disabled. It
is a good assistance source in identification of program focus with excellent and clear suggestions for specific populations.
Additionally, it offers ideas for practical applications with issues such as transfers, emergency procedures, and facility
modifications. I love it, use it frequently as a reference, and refer to it in teaching new staff and university student

This is a great book for anyone needing an in-depth source of information regarding learning disabilities. The eleven stories
within the book follow people, young and old, each with different aspects of a learning disability and how they managed to
overcome seemingly insurmountable odds. For myself, I learned a great deal more about learning disabilities (that LD can affect
both the language and the spatial systems), and that there are individuals that have learned to go through life masking the
fact that they couldn't read or couldn't figure out direction regarding where their bodies were in space and time. I was deeply
moved by all of the stories, as I am sure that anyone reading this book will also be. Great book!

Max and Amy are really excited when they learn that their dad has planned a surprise trip to a theme park but it seems that
they'll never arrive. The father in this story is an active and much adored man who has a physical disability. The book's
illustrations manage to reveal so much about life with a disability. If you like this one, check out Boots for a Bridesmaid

This is a great book. It's funny and charming and honest. I love the bluntness that Kevin exhibits (even if we're just going
to attribute it to AS.) For example:
S: Darling, why won't you marry me?
K: Because you might have an aberration and I might want
to get rid of you. If we were married I would have to give
you half my stuff, and I wouldn't want to do that.
Ha ha ha! Awesome.

Aspies Need More Chances to Get Ahead!

Retrospectively, adults with Asperger Syndrome have been through harder times than I would expect in the United Kingdom.
I must say the adult Aspies in this book are a lot happier than before they were diagnosed, because they have found how to
cope with both their pros and cons in order to get employed. I can see many of them have felt different and/or distant from
other people not only at school but at work, which often causes frequent job changes, alienation, and other negative effects.
Actually, I still have the same experiences and am between jobs right now.
According to Professor Tony Attwood, one of the most famous specialists on AS, only 10% of adults with AS are diagnosed in Australia! How devastating! After all, Aspies need more support and understanding from other people. Recently more people have come to know developmental disabilities. But we must accept the fact that it will still take time to improve the situation to help developmentally challenged people.

A Collection of Useful Tips To Cope With Asperger Traits

This book sure helps you to strengthen not only your knowledge but strategies of how to cope with your Asperger Syndrome and
social lives. So I'd like to recommend this especially to those who remain undiagnosed as AS and bogged down in cruel reality;
they may find their unexpected AS symptoms they had never recognized before! It is as if they could finally get out of a long
tunnel. And they will get a chance to know themselves objectively.
Certainly, AS itself won't disappear for the rest of Aspies' lives, where they may feel distant and different from society. However, I'm sure they will make the best use of their own pros of AS!

In my humble opinion the disconnect between the special education department and the counseling office has widen over the
years leaving an information gap at times. This handbook provides both basic and advanced information to the working professional
at the high school or any other persons who stuggles with helping students with disabilities.
