The Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones Movie Scrapbook is a fascinating book containing the entire plot of the film, accompanied with a series of great photos taken from the film. The written story centres around some of the interesting aspects that weren't fully explored in the film. This is one of my favourite Star Wars books, and one can only wonder just how awesome Episode III will be!

The various stories in volume 4 are great and add interesting insites to characters and plot lines within the star wars universe. Even if the stories are not part of the official star wars canon, they offer fun and intreague to an already great franchise.

The book I am reviewing is written by Matt Christopher. The book's name is Stealing Home. I think this book deserves five stars because the book is fun to read, has a lot of feeling, and it also is great because it has a lot of friendship in it. This book is about a kid named Joey and a foreign exchange student that comes to live with Joey. The problem in the story is that Joey is jealous that Jesus is getting all the attention and that he is a new superstar on Joey's baseball team which Joey just was. The problem is solved when Joey really thinks about how he would feel if he went away for a year and the people you were staying with were mean to you, so Joey decides to let Jesus have the best time he can have and to not be jealous. I'd recommend this book to people who like baseball. Other books written by this author are Long-Arm-Quarterback and Halfback Attack.

Wonderfully Amusing Children`s Story!

"The Story of Mrs. Lovewright and Purrless Her Cat" is a wonderfully illustrated, funny story that can be enjoyed by anyone; however, I would say that it would probably appeal the most to children between about five to 12. I read it to my 6 and 8 year-old granddaughters, and they loved it!

Lore Segal and Paul Zelinsky have created a timeless, fine, humorous work that is delightful for both adults and children. Mrs. Lovewright is among the funniest and most beautifully rendered characters I've found in children's literature.

I give this book the high praise I reserve for such children's stories as Grasshopper on the Road, Caleb and Kate, and Mr. Dog.

Last year, I read Mrs. Lovewright over public radio and received numerous calls from adults who wanted to find a copy of the story for themselves. It's sad that such a hilarious, heartwrench and warmer has been lost to the black hole called "out of print."

An excellent book for young readers

Review Date: 2005-03-20
I remember reading the first few issues of the Incredible Hulk comic book when they first came out. The early sixties were an incredible time for the development of new comic book characters. This was the most intense phase of the cold war and humans were beginning to send probes and people into space. Some of the dangers of exposure to radioactivity were known, but enough was unknown so that the comic developers could use it as a basis for the development of superpowers.
The cold war and radiation form the foundation for the origin of the Hulk. Dr. Bruce Banner is working on an enhanced radiation nuclear bomb. It produces a large amount of gamma rays and when a Soviet spy betrays Banner, the bomb goes off and Banner is engulfed with gamma rays. They change his body so that he is transformed into a large, powerful green being. In later issues of Marvel comics, exposure to gamma rays is repeatedly used to create additional mighty beings.
While I liked the lesson in the history of comic book characters, the best part of the book is the lessons in history and science. Teielbaum spends some time explaining the cold war, the fifties "duck and cover" that all American school children practiced on a regular basis, the power of nuclear weapons, and animals that are relevant to the cartoon characters. This is a lesson about the world that children will find very easy to absorb.
Children generally love comic books and if they are properly done, they can also learn science and history. This is a book that is properly done and it can be used as a science lesson/entertainment interlude in the later years of elementary school.

Very entertaining, yet informative, reading for young readers

The entertainment value of this basic summary of the Incredible Hulk's story in Marvel Comics is high, and should certainly capture the attention of the proficient young readers. It's quite literate with good vocabulary for the reading level. Importantly, though it's fun. While conveying the spirit of the comic book character, Teitelbaum brings in related bits of information aimed at increasing the young reader's knowledge while stimulating youthful curiosity into learning more about the Hulk's literary predecessers, about early concerns about nuclear energy, about the cold war and its anxieties, about the fields of scientific research along with other topics.

The emphasis though is on entertainment which is what should draw the young readers into reading it, strengthening reading skills and expanding their knowledge at the same time.

The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde was a book about good versus evil. I liked that Dr. Jelyll found out that he was doing cruel and evil things and tried to stop. The letters that the characters wrote made you want to keep on reading and not stop. Very suspenseful! Excellent!

The best British columnist on the US, and funny
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2008-02-01
Younge is one of the finest columnists writing in English today (in the British _Guardian_, the most trusted news source in the UK, over the BBC), and one of the best analysts of the US. His take, as a "black Briton," has enough distance to get all the historical, social, economic connections that we Americans usually miss, and enough compassion for the underdog to be compelling and persuasive. The comparisons with his native UK are fascinating, unexpected, and often very funny.

My favorite bit is his description of preparing for his first US visit. The much-trashed American book "The Bell Curve" had estimated that blacks were 15 IQ points lower than others, but then friends had told him that Americans mentally add 20 IQ points to anyone who speaks with a British accent. So he'd still come out 5 points ahead in their perceptions.

"The Easter Bonnet Parade" is a "Strawberry Shortcake" Level 1 Station Stop book, designed to help younger readers learn to read. It's a pleasing Strawberry Shortcake story that can be enjoyed by any fan of the show.

Strawberry and her friends are celebrating Easter. They decide to put on an Easter parade --- an Easter bonnet parade to be exact. They all have hats they can decorate to make into fun bonnets, well, all except one. It turns out that Honey Pie Pony doesn't have a hat, so she's worried she won't be able to join in. But Strawberry and her friends work together to help Honey Pie.

This book kind of reminds me of a Scooby Doo mystery without a bad guy. Bottom line - it's not a classic but it beats reading another Angelina or Dora book and the story is pretty cute. What little girl from the 80's doesn't like a berry-rific book?

cute story includes some not-as-common characters

My 4-year-old daughter loves this book (along with Meet Blueberry Muffin and Strawberry Goes to School.) This one brings in characters that you don't see as often in the other books and movies....Coco Calypso and Seaberry Delight (even Blueberry Muffin.) The themes are working together to solve a mystery and friendship (bringing together two girls, Coco and Seaberry, to be best friends on their lonely island.) Sweet girls and cute story.
