I give this book 5 stars. The part I like best is when they look for donuts. I think it is very funny. I am going to read it until I'm an adult because I want to feel like a kid!

My son absolutely loves this book. He is just turning 3 and when we read at night I have to read him all the Scooby books (the santa mystery, the dognapping mystery and disappearing donuts). He loves to tell me who ate the donuts before it happens!

About time we got a Scooby Reader!

I just purchased this book for my Scooby-lovin' first grade daughter. The story and illustrations are cute - not scary. Perfect for a 5 or 6 year-old. The age states K-grade 2, however, an average K - grade 1 child will not be able to read this without help. The sentences are short, but many of the words are on a 2nd grade level. The best thing is that the dialogue is written to sound just like the t.v. show... Fans will LOVE that!

I bought this book for my daughter last week (9/27/03) and she has requested it about 10 times already. She is a Dora fan and loves the lift-the-flaps effect of this book. Great colors and pictures. A definite Halloween read for your young child.

My two year old loves reading this book all through the year. He just loves halloween and loves saying "ooooh..." when he sees a spider or bat, or "Boo" when he sees a ghost. This delightful little lift-the-flap book follows Dora on her quest to find Boot's bag of Halloween candy that has been stolen by Swiper.

As in the show, she needs to consult with the map to find the way. Through the woods with Owls and Bats, into the pumpkin patch where you lift the flaps on the pumpkins to find Halloween treats, to finally the spooky haunted house witha ghost waiting at the door. Once inside, the little ones explore the haunted house by lifting up flaps and searching for the stolen bag of candy.

As delightful as the TV show, kids will just love following Dora on this spooky adventure and encountering all sorts of Halloween creatures along the way. Very enjoyable and already getting worn out in our household.

A Real Treat! Excelente!

Swiper has done it again! Where did that sneaky fox hide Boots' bag of Halloween candy? This board book of the immensely popular Latina explorer is filled with surprises for young readers. Lift 19 flaps to find a trick or a treat. Match the faces in a pumpkin patch. Guess who are the mystery guests waiting at the Haunted House, including the ghost with the orange tail. One of the better Dora stories. My daughters, ages 4 years 8 months and 2 years 10 months, have never met a Dora book they didn't like. This one is no exception.

If you've read any of the Dragonball manga issues, you've got to get the graphic novels as well. These are much more sturdy and more in book form.
Since Funimation ruined the american version of Dragonball Z, you can now read what Toriyama-san really made, or you could spend a fortune on the subtitled japanese videos and DVDs, but this is so much less exspensive and portable.

The Namek Saga begins with a bang (no pun intended) as Kuririn and Gohan play hide-and-seek with Vegeta and and his ex-boss,the evil Freeza, while trying to save a little Namekian named Dende and find the Namekian Dragon Balls so they can bring Kami-Sama, Chaozu, Tenshinhan, Yamcha, and Piccolo back to life. After seeing what power Freeza's forces are packing as well as Vegeta's newly developed ablitiy to sense Chi, things aren't looking too good for our heros until Bulma learns that Goku is on his way to Namek and Dende tells them of The Great Elder, the parent of all Namekians, who might beable to help them...if they promise to save Namek. Beautifully drawn and wonderfully told, this is yet another masterpiece in the DragonBall/DragonBall Z saga. Check out the Title Page Gallery in the back, two of the pictures will make you laugh. Enjoy!

Eaglet's World is a wonderful book about both the hatching of an eaglet, and what it might feel like to "launch" out into the world. Children and adults can relate to this idea, as well as become informed about the birth to flight life of an eagle! Grand illustrations as well and memorable story.

"Eaglet's World" is written by Evelyn Minshull and illustrated by Andrea Gabriel. The book tells the story of a baby eagle--from his time inside the egg, to hatching, and to his first flight.

The lovely text has an appealing poetic rhythm. And it's superbly complemented by the joyous, beautiful illustrations. Overall, a children's book that effectively celebrates and educates about the beauty of nature.

The Masters Last Masterpiece

It saddens me to know (other reviews) that this is Fredrick Forsyth's last book. One of his best indeed. He has been an expert at cold war fictions and ICON is also on a East vs West story line. However it is remarkable the way he has put the story into todays context. We will really miss this master story tellers works in the future.

The Master's Final Stroke

Review Date: 1998-04-05
In another example of his genius, in his last novel (Source : BBC World), Fedrick Forsyth has created a monster of a thriller of no mean proportions. The story starts off with the death of the President of Russia and the installment of a caretaker President who calls fresh elections. A former Soviet-era engineer with a gift of speech is one of the candidates and a cinch to win. However, his party has a secret manifesto, a black manifesto. A manifesto whoose objective is to cripple all of Russia's neighbours and establish a dictatorship even more powerful and renegade than the old Soviet Union. But, somehow by lax of security, even though the head of security is a former KGB colnel, the manifesto falls into the hands of a US diplomat. Alarms are immediatly raised, and a secret commitee is formed to discredit the candidate. A retired top - class agent is sent in a MI5 cum CIA operation. His misson? TO direct all ethinic minorities, the Islamic Mafia, the military, the Jewish businessmen, the Anti-Drug and Anti-Terrorist Squad and the Church of Russia against a advisary which would cause their mass slaughter. However, there is one trick still up the KGB colnel's sleeve - The Mafia, His own Balck Gaurd and 'Coup d'Êtat'. In future years this bestseller is sure to become a collector's item, not because of the fact that the author has declared it to be his final book but because of its sheer intense action and drama.

Forsythe is on top of his game!

Review Date: 1997-09-29
Once again Forsythe has taken historical events and true characters and interwoven them into a compelling fiction thriller. His ability to take the poltical structure of Russia and create a scenerio that is both easy to follow and hard to put down is uncanny. It is hard to rate this story his best since so many are so good, however it is without a doubt right at the top. The story centers around the future of Russian politics in the aftermath of a failed democratic free market economy. One leader seeks to gain prominence by using the failure to his own advancement. However his true beliefs are found in a document known only to him and two other comrades (The Black Manifesto). Fortunately this document falls in the hands of a US diplomat. The story gravitates around America's need to discredit this leader without outward involvement. Forsythe takes us into the underworld of Russian mafia as well as the upper echilon of the Politboro.

Like another reviewer, I checked this book out in my middle school's library and read it entirely. Even seven years later (at the time of this review) I can still recall some very memorable creatures from those pages. It is a truly wonderful book for anyone even remotely interested in the various supernatural beings you see in movies. If you are a fan of movies, horror, or have any interest in monsters, this book is definitely worth picking up.

I checked this book out of my local library when I was 12. I read it cover to cover and have never been the same since. It helped shaped my creative interest at a young age and opened a whole new world of goblins, vampires, zombies, and 50 foot women. This is a very detailed and thorough examination of a dying art form. Pick this up for your preteen kid and you won't be sorry. If there not a big fan of monsters, they will be.

Excellent commentary. Clear writing. The overall theme and the details are both well expounded throughout. The only small drawback is the occasions when Greek words or phrases are used without definitions, but that should not stop someone from buying this book. Bruce is an excellent author.

The author managed to clearly and simply explain complicated financial concepts AND keep it fun and interesting for kids -- not an easy task! Topics such as saving, investing, credit, interest, reading stock quotes, history of money, etc are covered in depth. I learned quite a few things myself -- most adult personal finance books should be this easy to understand! The book has lots of games, puzzles and activities as well as some really interesting money trivia. This is a great resource for both the classroom and home.

My fourth grader is reading this book, and I borrowed it to stay ahead of him. Everything you ever wanted to know is in here-- even things you didn't know you wanted to know (like why we have piggy banks.) Tough concepts like the Federal Reserve are explained in kid-friendly language, and the book is packed with riddles and games. Great for a classroom, fun to read, fast-paced, yet thorough. Highly recommended.

A great resource book--and fun, too!
