This book is a perfect introduction to one of New England's best autumn traditions. Diane Mayr's lively text is appealing, and loaded with information. Her enthusiasm for the topic is obvious, and will be passed on to her readers. Parents, teachers, librarians, and kids will love this - and learn from it as well!

We have an apple orchard in Indiana, and a librarian friend who has the fun job of reading and categorizing new books. She came across this one and said, "This is one of the best books I've seen for young readers that best fits the orchard. It even mentions the bees, limiting the use of chemicals, picking them by hand, and has an illustration of the apples being separated on a conveyer belt, it mentions cold storage, and has a big red barn for the store! I would swear that this writer or illustrator has been to CLO and used it as a springboard for creating the book!" A concise, informative & amusing book that earned an enthusiastic 2 thumbs up from my preschoolers! From a teacher's perspective, the text reads easily and keeps the children's focus (no easy feat with a group of 5 year olds). From the child's perspective, the ice cream making activity was a huge hit (& easy enough for each child to do with minimal assistance), and being able to outwit your parents in dairy trivia (what is a flink?) is fun! I bought the book to support a science unit lesson plan & it was such a hit that we've ended up planning a field trip to a local dairy farm in the Spring. I'm very pleased with this excellent addition to my classroom library.

This book is extremely well-written with the elementary student in mind. It is both fun and fact-filled! The kids don't even know they are learning! I am an Enlgish teacher and I used this book in my class with great results. It gave me a week's worth of activities and discussions. It is a great preparatory tool for a field trip and also includes a delicious and easy recipe for ice cream- and clean-up is a breeze! The kids absolutely loved it! I will use it every year and I even amaze my friends with my homemade ice cream! Keep writing Andy Murphy!

The kids to whom I gave this book found it interesting. Keeping in mind that this book is for children 5 - 8, the parents found it interesting as well.
They liked the plot. It gave them an idea of what Christmas is like in another part of the world the way that "The Children's Film Festival" used to do on TV during the 1960s. They also liked narrative because the kids really enjoy reading it aloud.

Pablo's Christmas is a wonderful addition to multicultural Christmas stories. As a Spanish teacher, I am always searching for stories that will convey to students what life is like for others in the world. Pablo's Christmas tells a touching tale of family sacrifice, bravery, and strength. The lovely illustrations enhance the story by showing life in a small Mexican village. I will enjoy reading this story to my students every year.

I got the e-book version of this book from the paperless joy site. This book has really guided me or I should say inspired me to become a paperless person!! Honestly speaking, I always enjoyed reading in papers, but after reading this e-book, I have realized how important it is to become a paperless person; not only for your comfort, convenience but also for the environment and health (sections 14, 15 etc). I will recommend reading this e-book for at least once to get an updated knowledge and guidance for becoming a paperless person at-least by 50% (if not 100%). It was a pleasure reading this book.

I got the eBook version which can be read on any PC from the paperless joy website and have been reading - paperless - for the past days. This is probably the first and even only book to present general paperless work-styles in a positive and doable manner, instead of raising all sorts of hinders and criticism to actually going paperless. The first part provides a broad background on how the world is going towards paperless and the advantages to this. The second part is all about how to do it - even for the non-techie. This guide actually goes beyond describing the paperless practices and also gives the reader a number of tips on how to manage time better - in a paperless way - to get more done, or simply make more free time. This is a great book for anyone who believes in the use of IT, or gadgets, to become more effective and get rid of the paper clutter.

As always, Colin Thompson does it again. His attention to detail is stunning, and the details are always exquisite and uncommon. His imagination just soars.

And, as always, the story itself is always poignant and often weaves either a personal moral tale, or a more universal one.

I am always on the lookout for his books. They satisfy on many levels.

My five year old daughter Polly writes: "A boy went in to a paradise garden. There were loads of animals. He ran away from his home. He lived on scraps of food that he found. You can find loads of Cafe Max's in this book. And some Kangaroos (or possibly dogs) looking out of windows. And little eyes poking out. It was excellent. (I liked it too - Mum)

Never has autumn looked so alluring. A delightfully created watercolor, acrylic and oil pastel artistic masterpiece combined with a rhyming, alphabetical story about a pumpkin patch.

Wonderous to look at and read. Youngsters will be amused at all the tiny details from ladybugs and dragonflies to wrens and xylem leaves.

This book would be a perfect prelude to the closing of autumn or a visit to a real pumpkin patch.

Patty's pumpkin patch is wonderfully illustrated and maps out the entire life cycle of a pumpkin plant from seeds and planting to the actual growth and harvest. In addition to giving a simplified view of plant growth cycles the author cleverly introduces every letter of the alphabet and an illustration of its example on the bottom of each page. As an added treat it even includes traditons revolved around pumpkins like jack-o-latern carving and roasting pumpkin seeds.
Cheerfully written, wonderfully illustrated, entertaining and informative.

This book is worth the price for the cinnamon rolls. This is one of the few cookbooks of any kind I have that seems every recipe was tested. I have yet to find a so-so recipe. They are all very good.

I love this Vegan cookbook because it combines new recipes with old time favorites. The pictures are enticing and mouth watering. The added health information I found very interesting and useful. I like the fact that the book itself is large enough that it stays open when attempting to create a recipe. The recipes are easy to follow and the diagrams are helpful. The cinnamon rolls are one of my favorites as they are so tasty and a real hit at the cottage. Most of these recipes I have tried and they have all have turned out great, but I am eager to try more. Even my vegan-doubting-meat-eater-husband can testify that the recipes in this book are delicious. I highly recommend this cookbook!

I read this book to my 14 month old son every day and he loves it! When he sees the book he gets so excited and starts saying "moo" and "baa". While we are reading he loves to lift the flaps and touch the animals. It is a wonderful book for any age. We will be buying more books like this one!

Ms. Farley is a fantastic writer and my daughter is hooked on her books! I highly recommend these to any young or old horse lover! We are hooked and looking forward to purchasing more books of hers!

I bought these for my daughter who loves horses. She adored the stories, so on her second time around I started reading them too her so I could enjoy them too! I was truly amazed at Terri's story telling/writing abilities and her knowledge of her topic. The stories are interesting as well as enlightning! I recommend these stories for any young reader who loves horses...

Phoebe Clappsaddle for Sheriff is every bit as fun as Chrismer/Roeder's first book, Phoebe Clappsaddle and the Tumble Weed Gang. It is great to see a strong female character with a touch of fimininity. Chrismer's Texas voice puts a spark to the text, and Roeder's delightful illustrations add the fireworks!

Chrismer has done it again! Phoebe Clappsaddle is one heck of a cowgirl, and being sheriff is a real spur in the Tumbleweed's butts. This is a must read for all kids (and their parents). Virginia Roeder brings Phoebe to life with her adorable illustrations, imbedded with clever humor. I said it once, and I'll say it again. I love Phoebe!
