Hats off to Doris Cross! She's produced yet another spectacular cookbook! The recipes in this book are absolutely delicious, easy to prepare, and don't require bizarre ingredients. The taste is sensational; you think you're eating high-fat dishes when you aren't! The dishes are simple enough for everyday fare, yet elegant enough for a dinner party. Of the many cookbooks I've purchased since being diagnosed with diabetes, the ones by Doris Cross are far and away my favorites!!

Since I love Italian food and also need to eat in a balanced manner, I was delighted when I saw this cookbook in the library. It was everything I expected and more! The diabetic exchanges are clearly listed as well as the exact grams of carbo, protein, fat, sodium, and cholestrol. I tried two of the recipes, Garlic and Parmesan Chicken with Pasta, and Shrimp and Crab Stuffed Shells. The recipes were easy to follow and the taste was magnificent! I was amazed at the rich flavor and beauty of the dishes. I think this book would be helpful for anyone who follows the Zone Diet as well as diabetics.

This is an easy book to follow. It is not expensive and most of the ingredients are already in the kitchen. Get some for gifts and all your friends.

Excellent source for cooking foods to help the heart rid of plaque. Recipes help keep fat levels down and all are tasty. Easy to prepare and reasonably priced

I bought this book along with several other Usborne books. He loves it. I must say it is his favorite. The text is very simple and the pictures tell the story as well. He makes us read it over and over.

This is a very cute board book about a tractor that gets stuck in a puddle of water. The story is short and simple. Each page in the book has a duck somewhere on it. Since my son (who just turned 2) hasn't really started listening to stories yet or getting into the plot, finding the duck on every page is definately the highlight of the book. He has several books that he will probably love later on, but I think this one will bring him from just finding items in books to listening the to story of the book.

A book about dancing rats. Doesn't sound like a sure-fire winner, does it? But this tale of perserverance and determination makes a wonderful and gripping read. The fantasy rat world is only half the story--the other half is the fascinating account of the hard work, training, and innovation of the dance troupe. By the time the Rattoons get to Rat Hollow, you know how very hard they've worked, and you're rooting for their success. Not only was this a fun read, but it was an interesting and eye-opening look at the work that professional dancers put in before they're ready for the Boom-Boom Room.

... uncommon, because the valor is demonstrated by a group of five rat siblings. Each lives out his/her own quirks, qualities, and weaknesses, but more importantly, as a whole, they demonstrate the power of a group united by a dream. Along with all of *that,* it is a rollicking good read, full of adventures and mishaps, with eventual victory, though a surprising one! A terrific book for fourth through seventh graders.

This one really helps. I think it's the best career change book
I have read in a long time. It's so easy to follow, and I've been doing just that, and have made real progress in moving to a new career after early retirement in the health services field.

Excellent book! Very thought-provoking, incisive, and informative. A practical guide to the second half of life.

We live near Amish country (in Pennsylvania, even!), so this was like a neighbor's tale for my grand-daughter. She had just taken a few quilting lessons to make her baby brother a log cabin quilt for Christmas (well, it started as for her parents, then shrunk to baby brother, and from Christmas it has now moved to someday), so this story of a log cabin quilt really hit the mark. It was beautifully illustrated, strong family and faith values and left you wondering what really happened.

Excellent children's book explaining Amish people and their beliefs. Short story that would keep the interest of a child but also teach them Amish words and ways. Illustrations are excellent. I purchased this book for my grandchildren and am sure they will enjoy it as much as I do.

Lyn Bezek's book is wonderful. Set against the backdrop of beautiful Colorado, a young girl and her dog overcome challenges and find their true calling... It is a story of love and joy. Ribbon will warm your heart! I am a teacher, and I plan to use it in my classroom. I can't wait for Lyn Bezek and Su Hand to create another book. This one is just great!

Lyn as created another outstanding children's book providing moral lessons along with the results of having courage to tackle life's problems and overcoming them. Lyn has a wonderful knowledge of Colorado as well as the nursing profession and animals. Su's illustrations are magical. I am proud to share this book with my grandchildren. Way to go Lyn!!! P.S. Keep a box of kleenex handy.

This has been an absolute favorite with my son since he was a bit over one year of age. He is a huge fan of Richard Scarry and wants to look at this book all the time. He never seems to tire of it.

This book has lots of little windows that open to show what's going on behind them. It has been great entertainment throughout the first two years of my daughter's life and probably for at least two more! When she was very small she enjoyed touching the flaps and watching me open them. Now she can open them by herself and fold the book out into a town.

I am writing this review for my 21-month-old son because he can't talk clearly yet, let along write, about his favorite book. Ride `Em Cowboy by Stefan Czernecki is a perfect toddler boy's book. The pictures are clear, action-packed and engaging; the text is short, action oriented, and loud. Sprinkled throughout the book are classic cowboy interjections and sounds such as, Yahoo! and Whoopee! Yee-ha! Cloppety, Clop! and Whoa, boy! Additionally, roosters crow to the sun and owls hoot to the moon. Best of all, Ride `Em Cowboy features horses and cowboys going about their exciting day. This is the kind of book that very active toddler boys (or girls) love. I recommend it for energetic little ones ages 18-months through around 6. One-year-olds will love the bright, clear pictures and fun sounds while older preschoolers will love Czernecki's sense of humor ("Ride Jumpin' Jack Rabbits! Why not?"). So if you parent an active toddler or preschooler, buy this book! It is a fun read even after you've read it over and over and over and over.


A note to the publishers: Please, please sell this book as a board book as well as a regular page book. Our copy will not be long in this world with the amount of love and use it gets.

Beginning with the crow of a rooster in the morning and the cowboys saddling up their horses for a days work of roping, riding; and a whole lot more, to the end of a long day's work and time to kick up a little fun square dancing, singing, and spending their pay, to bedtime and dreams of riding the rodeo, this colorful, lively, wonderfully entertaining picturebook story is a welcome and recommended addition to any child's reading list -- especially if they have cowboy dreams of their own!

My name is Russell too, but I am a good Russell. The Russell in the story is nice but sometimes he's naughty. After Germy and Russell hit eachother they were friends again. I learned to read with these books, now I can read! That's all I want to say!

P.S. from Russell's mommy: these books are wonderful, perfect for any emergent reader, and just fine for energetic little boys. It was fun to read realistic vignettes set in the city. I liked the chapter where Russell goes out for Chinese food with grandparents, it was familiar! We have read all of them in the series, one is funnier than the next! Johanna Hurwitz has the heart of Beverly Cleary, and the talent, too, but with a style all her own. Don't miss these lovely read-alouds!

Five year old boy experiences some of lifes moments shared by other children. Chapters have stand-alone themes, so it is greaat for a chapter a day before bed or at school. It explores disappointment, fighting at school, a first chinese dinner and wanting attention. Delightful, although I changed use of "stupid" to "dumb" that Russell uses. A great book for students from K through 4th grade, as well as parents. It is a humorous, family oriented book.
