Teaches great morals for children

Rascal is a cute raccoon, that has the ability to teach your children good moral values, while they enjoy his antics at Devil's
Den State Park. Your children are sure to enjoy this book, either reading it for themselves or having Mom and Dad read it
to them. Then they can have the fun of coloring Rascal to personalize their own book. I have personally sent these to all
of my nieces and nephews and give them as birthday gifts to young children. I guarantee you won't be disappointed
Rascal and Susie show children how to make moral decisions.

I like this children's book because it uses fantasy (which appeals to a child's imagination) to bring up very real issues.
The book is very readable. Each chapter is a different episode in Rascal's life, and can easily be read as a bedtime story-one
chapter each night. Or a child with basic reading skills can sit down and read the book alone. If you are looking for a book
that will keep the interest of a child you care for, and will teach morality in a Biblical and fun way, this is the book for
you!

A story about a girl living on a dairy farm in 1933.

When Agnes May Gleason's father is injured working on the family dairy farm, her mother must take him to the hospital, leaving
Agnes charge. Things were already difficult because of the Depression, and now Agnes's parents tells them to dump the day's
milk. They can't afford to do that with these hard times, and Agnes decides to disobey her parents and make the deliveries
with the help of her little brother and sister. This was an inspiring story about a girl during a difficult time in this
country's history and how she overcomes difficulties to help her family.
A great new book in the American Diaries series.

Agnes May Gleason is almost thirteen, and she's living on her family's dairy farm near Walsenburg, Colorado, in 1933. Life
has been hard for her family since the Depression started, and now Aggie's father has injured himself. When he must go to
the hospital, Aggie is left alone to run the dairy with only her ten year old sister, Mary, and seven year old brother,
Charles. If only her older brother Ralph hadn't left home! But it's up to Agnes now to make decisions, and pray that everything
goes right. I highly reccomend this book.

My husband and I love the books by Stephen Cartwright. The Alphabet book uses alliteration of each letter and each letter
gets it's own page. Example- for letter A - "All the animals are asleep on the Apple Tree Farm. Can you find two apples?"
- Besides the hidden apples to look for, there are a number of different farm animals in beautiful color for recognization
skills and counting. Each page also has a hidden duck which runs through many of the Stephen Cartwright books. Great book,
perfect gift for toddlers just learning animals, or older children learning their ABCs.

This book provides an excellent guide for those who want alternative care. It includes information on herbs, acupuncture,
mind-body work, food supplements and other alternatives. Written by a physician and based on the ratings of a panel of health
care providers it covers a wide range of expertise. I was especially interested in the section on back pain that I had recently
experienced. True to my experience the traditional medical and physical therapy mentioned was not effective but the alternatives
were. This book can save the consumer time from experimenting and lets them go straight to the best treatment available. Highly
recommended.

This is an excellent guide to choosing an alternative health care option. It marries the option with the ailments so readers
can see what options work best with their specific concern. The cost of treatment is invaluable when making a choice and
for comparison when talking with providers. This one is a keeper for your personal bookshelf!

If you are a fan of Little House books and would like to introduce very young children (ages 2-6) to Little House on the Praire,
this book and its other three companions are the perfect way. The board book format is just the right size for little hands.
The pictures by Renee Graef and Susan Mc Aliley are so sweet and beautiful! The text is simple but those who are just starting
to read on their own will need a little help. Bedtime for Laura, with little girls in nightcaps under cozy quilts and Pa
playing his fiddle, is sure to evoke sweet memories in those who have cherished the Little House collection, and teach the
very young ones to fall in love with it for the first time.

Krebs has written a delightful book that brings to life a glowing glimpse of "The Beeman." Seen through the eyes of a grandchild,
this book invokes a warm town as gentle bee-keeping facts are given. Her book is an excellent addition to a family library
or a classroom's apiary unit. I can't wait to see her other books.

This warm, appealing picture book about bee-keeping (and grandparenting) is a delight from beginning to end. The text is
spare and rhythmic, perfect for reading aloud, and the illustrations are full of bright colors and cheerfully inviting. Bees
tend to fascinate young children, even if they frighten them; this book offers an insightful, reassuring look at the pleasures
of bee-keeping for a little girl and her grandfather.

A Wonderful Book on a Troublesome Tribe
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 4 total.
Review Date: 2007-06-12
Review Date: 2007-06-12
Robert Converse Bailey's book is both illuminating and highly knowledgeable, revealing him as an anthropologist of the highest
order. It is, however, a great shame that he chose to lavish his attentions on such an aggressive and discourteous tribe as
the Efe.
Having lived with the neighboring Aka pygmies for many years, I have often heard the lament: "Curse the Efe with their stinging sharp arrows!" I have even witnessed the Aka, while singing one of one of their magical polyphonic songs, cruelly interrupted by an arrow flying out of the bushes and lodging in one of their tiny behinds. The distinctive high pitched laughter that resounds throughout the forest during such occasions leaves one in no doubt as to the culprits.
The Aka are a peaceable tribe, whose family units are strong and who hunt together with nets. Yet how often have I heard them, in that peculiar clicking and ululating tongue of theirs, describe how they wished, "the Efe be chased by bees, and have termites infest their huts. Curse them and their multi-caretaker child-rearing techniques!"
One hopes that a pygmy war may yet be avoided, but books such as Mr. Converse Bailey's only enflame the egotistical nature of the proud Efe and increase their appetite for mischief beneath the jungle canopy.
