The time has finally come for a decision to be made. Becky, a SCRUB at Fable Harbor University Hospital is forced to bare the decision that her boyfriend, Rick, is about to make. Will he take the heart/lung transplant, or will his twin brother Shane accept it? Meanwhile, Zoey has been spending a lot of time with a girl who was critically injured in a car accident that broke up an important moment with Tristan. Zoey knows that there's something very strange about this patient, even though nobody really wants to believe her. And she knows that she has to uncover the whole truth, and prove herself right, to help the girl and her family, and to prevent another accident from occurring.

In this second book of the UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL series, Cherie Bennett and Jeff Gottesfeld once again draw the reader in with such a sharp hook, that you'd be out of your mind to try to avoid the inevitable, which is to read the book. From page one you are kept in suspense about all types of medical emergencies, and it only gets better. Not only that, you are lucky enough to experience the soap opera-like drama involving relationships between Becky and Rick, Summer and Tristan, Tristan and Zoey, and Chad and Eve. The suspense that you experience in reading CONDITION CRITICAL is exhilirating, while at the same time a killer. Fans of the previous book in the series titled UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL must read this book, as it is essential in putting your mind to rest about certain situations.

As Zoey and Tristan continue to be completely clueless about thier growing love, Becky's boyfriend is in critical condition, hence the name of the book. Rick and his twin brother, Shane, are in need of the same heart-lung transplant. But when the organs become available- who will get them. I personally love everything that goes on between Tristan and Zoey. This book was remarkable!

I started off with this book. The recipes are easy to follow and the products taste great. I've never used to go near a kitchen before, but after having successfully made quite a few products from this book, I gained lots of confidence in wielding my tools around the kitchen and am now so addicted to cooking and baking.

You will find this helpful in baking cookies, brownies, and much more. The book has wonderful pictures that are helpful when baking. Sometimes it is nice to know how something is going to turn out before hand. This would make an excellent gift to a new cook!

Reiner Zimnik, a former carpenter, was 26 and student at the Munich Art Academy when he wrote and designed this book in 1956. The illustrations, simple black and white sketches, stayed with me all my life. The most powerful one covers two pages with a few black strokes of sky, a fallen over little shoe, a dazed bird und the scribble: "Da war das Land traurig, und die Erde weinte." (The country was sad. And the earth wept.) As an adult I might say that it's a fable about the Second World War - what was there before and what came after. As child I experienced no other book that would speak to me with such immediatness. Though it wasn't that widespread in Germany I would still say that it's our best children's book till today.

A wise and well illustrated (by the author) childrens book, that is well known in Europe, and sadly overlooked in the US. Like "The Little Prince", this book has a charm and quality that transends age. It is about a man and a crane. It is about work,life,...the big questions the big answers. Good stuff. Sadly out of print.

An overlooked classic.

'The Crane' is one of the most beatifully written childrens stories of this century. It is a parable that carries many important questions about who we are and how we live. As a teacher of English, I have found this book a remarkable resource and one that really allows for differentiation of learning with children around 11-12. It is a funny, sad and very touching story and I emplore somebody to reprint it, so that more people can access this wonderfull book. Why it isn't more widely known I do not understand.

I read this every summer at my grandma's. I never quite understood it, and I didn't quite like it but I did keep coming back to it. It's something of a fairy tale and something of a philosophical tale. If I had to describe it now I would call it hauntingly beautiful.

Chad, one of the five teenagers chosen to work as a SCRUB at Fable Harbor University Hospital, is looking for something. Eve. Eve encouraged Chad to pursue a career in sports medicine when he was in high school, and that's exactly what he's decided to do. However, he is also in love with Eve, and knows that she is now working as a physical therapist right here at Fable Harbor. However, Chad knows that now that they are both working at the hospital (not together, of course, but in the same place), that maybe he'll get the chance that he's always dreamed of. To declare his love to Eve, and start a relationship with her. However, when a group of people (both hospital workers and patients) are held hostage by a crazy man holding a syringe of HIV-tainted blood, no one knows what exactly could possibly happen next.

I have completely loved the first two books in the UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL series titled UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL and CONDITION CRITICAL, but I must admit that this third installment, CRISIS POINT, takes the cake as my absolute favorite. The excitement and suspense of the novel is absolutely exhilirating, and makes it hard for you to put the book down, even for a lunch break, and the suspense of Chad and Eve's relationship makes the reader root for Chad in his quest to somehow, someway tell Eve how he really feels about her. This is an absolute must-have novel for any fans of the previous UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL books. You won't be disappointed.

These books are awesome. Just make sure you start with the first book and read them in line. It would be best is you ordered all three at one time so as soon as you finish one, you can start the next one! There are a lot of characters, and if you wait a while between reading each one, you may have to refer back to te previous books to find out who certain people are.

I teach crochet and am always on the lookout for ways to earn money doing what I love. Darla Sims' Crocheting for Fun & Profit gives clear, concise, and concrete information on how to turn your crochet into cash. The book is divided into two parts; Fun, and Profit. I admit that I read Part Two first. I found Sims' profiles of teachers, craftswomen, designers, editors, and writers informative and inspiring. The chapters on marketing and the basics of running a crafts-business should help the would-be entrepeneur avoid some common pitfalls of starting a small business. She covers how to collect on bad checks, accepting credit cards, taxes and more. Crochet is definitely not the way to riches, but by following Sims realistic advice you can supplement your income doing something you love. And who knows, if you're extremely enterprising you may actually be able to earn a living at it.

Beginners will find clear explanations of the basics in Part One. While Sims' doesn't devote any visuals to left-handers, she instructs lefties to trace the illustrations and then turn them over, creating a mirror image. A nifty, if time consuming suggestion. More experienced crocheters will find the section on designing your own projects invaluable as few books cover this subject. She also provides a handy chart on how to read those mysterious garment-care symbols that we see on laundering instructions. And there's a formula for converting ounces to grams and back again.

This book has a place in any serious crocheter's library.

Daniel's Ride is an exellent book for children. I should know because I am a child. I think this is a good book because people usually don't write about lowriders or books for kids who are bilingual. This book has both of those subjects.

In Michael Perry's entertaining picturebook Daniel's Ride, it's the first day of summer vacation and young Daniel is anxiously awaiting the arrival of his big brother Hector and his custom '63 Impala Low Rider. The two bothers cruise the boulevard, compete in a low rider hopping context at the beach, and drive downtown to visit their artist cousin Diego as he paints an elaborate mural. It is during this wonderful day's journey that Daniel receives an unexpected gift from his big brother -- determination. Lee Ballard's artwork is perfectly suited to Perry's entertaining story of two brothers, a car, and a beautiful sunny day.

This is a wonderful story for kids, and adults, about low riders, a subject that is often misunderstood and maligned. Not much is availibale for children on the topic, especially told from their point of view. DANIEL'S RIDE is about much more than Hector's promise of his cool car to his little brother Daniel. It's about hopes and dreams and relationships, all of which lead to the story's broad appeal. Every year I buy a least one book for a friend in Arizona who is a reading specialist working in a bilingual setting. This book has been the biggest hit yet! Her students in Tucson love it and can't get enough of it. Perry and his illustrator Lee Ballard have a real hit here!

Daniel eagerly awaits a promised ride in his older brother Hector '63 Impala convertible “complete with spider hydraulics and gold wire wheels.” Together they celebrate the first weekend of summer vacation. They turn up the volume on their music and cruise, transforming the Impala into “a funky barrio carnival ride.” They join the cool cars cruising the beech before visiting the cousin. When the ride is over, Hector promise the car to Daniel if he finishes high school and plans to go to college.

Author Michael Perry brings his street-savvy writing style to children’s books in DANIEL’S RIDE. With the lyricism gained with his musical background, and an intense understanding of what motivates children, Perry creates a fun, hotrodding tale of sun, brothers and cars certain to delight young readers. Crisp, believable, readable dialog combine lends the story vibrant energy and promise. Very highly recommended.

Sanest Book On Meeting And Relating To Women Ever!

I just finished reading Dating to Relating from A to Z and I must say this is the sanest, most useful technology on getting and getting along with women I have ever seen.

I particularly appreciated the dissertation on the different types of sexual relationships - it truly broadened my viewpoint and liberated me....this [book] brought it all together for me with regard to WOMEN.

*This is actually not my original review. I read it on another web site. But this guy literally took the words right out of my mouth so I just had to post them here.

Really Informative Book

Review Date: 2008-09-20
Yeah, I agree with the other reviews. This is the best workable data on the market. The book gives you a basic technology that explains and helps you understand all the other guides. Ironically his other book How I Got 700 Dates In One Year (And 2500 Women's Phone Numbers!) is the exact opposite of this book. It just gives you a fast and easy way to meet women and you don't need a lot of understanding at all to implement the technique.

700 Dates was the one I read first so I wasn't really expecting the depth of understanding that is available in this book. I've been getting at least 2 dates every weekend with the 700 Dates technique, but what I like about this book it really focuses in on qualifying women and meeting the kind of girl you want to meet - not just any girl - and then it goes into how to keep a girl that you want once you find her.

After reading these books and trying the techniques I find that I am more relaxed around girls and not as desperate. I feel like I can easily meet as many women as I want, so now I can be more choosey. I find myself turning down a lot of girls now that I wouldn't have before. This is good! I definitely recommend getting both of his books.

And by the way, the data he presents in this book about "feet angles" is pretty wild, but I have been noticing that it is pretty much true, and I am applying it in other areas of my life besides dating and relationships.

After reading Dating to Relating by Mr. L. Rx an entire lifetime of confusion has lifted off me and I can finally understand what is going on with women and how to relate to and deal with them--and with confidence that I am doing the right thing.

I feel like I understand women for the first time in my life and they apparently can sense it--because they are coming at me. Probably the most significant thing is that I am comfortable being around lots of women at the same time and not intimidated because I understand what is going on between their ears. I am in a whole new place. I am calm, relaxed, and not nervous like I was before (my entire dating/romantic life).

The first night after reading the entire book I went to a club.I made some major adjustments and shifts in my thinking after reading Dating To Relating and those changes allowed me to approach the evening with a fresh outlook, a clean heart, and an understanding of women that I have never enjoyed before. Within minutes after entering the club I had three women after me. And I am 60 years old and these women were in their 30's.

Apparently the three women that came after me in the hour and a half I was there could perceive my confidence and calmness. Because I really didn't do too much, just observed like Mr. L. Rx taught me in his book.

I believe Mr. L. Rx is one of the world's preeminent authorities on the subjects of dating, romance, and sex. I've read David DeAngelo's stuff too and he has got a lot of good things to say also, but Mr. L. Rx's information is the absolute down-to-the-core truth and the best!

Well, I have bought David Deangelo's book and dating guru series. And I have also bought Mystery's, and Neil Strauss' stuff and a few others, but I think this was the best by far. Mr. L. Rx gets down to the real basics on attraction and communication and relationships and from reading Mr. L. Rx's book I even now have a better understanding of why Deangelo's and Mystery's and Strauss's stuff works sometimes and sometimes doesn't, and when and how and on whom to use their techniques.

Mr. L. Rx is really big on situational strategies and this book actually teaches you how to develop your own strategies for any situation you are interested in pursuing. That is a real plus.

Then Mr. L. Rx totally also delves into relationships which I think really sets him apart from the other guys who are mainly teaching you how to pick-up on women. Mr. L. Rx teaches you how to not only be better at meeting and picking up women than these other books, but he co-ordinates it with having a relationship so that you can pick up on or meet a girl you are actually interested in and then keep her in a relationship.

Mr. L. Rx really gets down to the basics and if you are like me and have read a lot of books on this topic, it really helps to explain why some of the other gurus' stuff works only some times and why I feel uncomfortable using or even trying out some of the other guru's lines and techniques, etc. I've tried using Deangelo's "cocky and funny" stuff but never felt quite comfortable doing it. But after reading Mr. L. Rx's book, I realized that "cocky and funny" is situational and now I am totally relaxed having "cocky and funny" as one of the tools in my arsenal. It is totally appropriate to use it in certain situations and with certain personalities.

My criticism of the book is kind of contradictory and irrational 1) its long (196 pages)and 2) its not long enough (I wish it were about 800 more pages long.)

I definitely look forward to more materials from Mr. L. Rx. If you really want to understand women and dating and relationships, this BOOK is the real deal.

I would certainly recommend this book to any man or woman who wants to thinks critically about gender and how it plays itself out in the African American community. Cleage writes about people you know and celebrates them when they are beautiful as tell it like it is when they are wrong. "Deals With the Devil" is an excellent choice for book clubs because it lends itself easily to discussion and debate. In short, READ this book, then pass it on.

Cleage writes about people you know and celebrates them when they are beautiful as tell it like it is when they are wrong. "Deals With the Devil" is an excellent choice for book clubs because it lends itself easily to discussion and debate. In short, READ this book, then pass it on.

In this collection of essays, Pearl Cleage seems to speak my thoughts -- all of the things that I think about but am afraid to say for fear of being labeled as a traitor to my race. And she says these things in an easily readible down to earth tone. Cleage takes a brave stand - calling out the inequities that come from being a member of an oppressed sex within an oppressed race. This book is one of several that essentially changed my life, letting me know that the notion that gender struggles must take a backseat to racial struggles is not only misguided but dangerous.

This collection of essays from Pearl Cleage, Black nationalist, feminist (actually a womanist) and artist gives her views on sexism, domestic abuse and racism. These essays were written in the early 90's and delve into controversies as diverse as the Clarence Thomas Supreme Court confirmation hearings, Miles Davis' brutality to women, the flap over Luther Campbell's raunchy lyrics and the fuss over Spike Lee's films. Lee came under fire from scared White folks who feared (unnecesarily)that "Do the Right Thing," would incite violence and angry Black activists who worried that "X" would be a disservice to Malcolm's legacy. Cleage gives her own take on these events and many others that I won't attempt to list here. She lets no one off the hook and challenges us all to think critically instead following the herd.

I was a little put off by the first few essays in this collection because the author comes off as overwrought in the discussions about sexism, but the more I read with an objective eye I began to get upset myself. If it is true as she says that five women are murdered each day by men who claim to love them -- then why aren't more people discussing this? Domestic abuse certainly affects Black women across all socieconomic strata, yet you rarely hear Black leaders discussing it. Where is the outrage and condemnation? Where are Jesse, Johnnie, Al and all the other perennial frontmen for issues of race and racism? I am ashamed to admit that I never really gave much thought to sexism and domestic abuse, and this book was a real eye-opener.

"Mad at Miles," asks why so many people continued to support an artist who admitted to being abusive to his wife and was rumored to have beaten other women also. According to Cleage, fans were willing to turn a blind eye to Davis' mean streak even after he revealed in book that a frightened Cicely Tyson once called the police on him after he slapped the taste out of her mouth. And the incident isn't relayed with any sense of remorse. Still, folks continue to buy his work reasoning that she either asked for it, or protesting that his private life was off-limits. Cleage asks whether the same support would be afforded to a White artist who admitted to beating Black men who got on his nerves. Very interesting. While Cleage is Mad at Miles, she is supportive (if uncomfortably) of Luther Campbell's right to make his profane "music" and even allowed her teenage daughter to buy his CD.

Although Cleage takes issue with Black men who supported Clarence Thomas publicly while voicing their misgivings privately just for the sake of supporting the brother, she is also critical of Anita Hill for having taken so long to come forward about the harrassment she endured at his hands. This delay lead Cleage to question whether Hill is really the "Shero" she was made out to be after the hearings concluded. The way Cleage sees it, Hill's failure to report the harrassment violated the laws she was supposed to be uphold, and she only came forward during the hearings because she was compelled to do so, which was not quite as honorable as it would have been had she come forward on her own. Or even better, if she had reported Uncle Thomas way back when he first got out of line.

Passionate and informed, Cleage has firm opinions on everything, and while I might not always agree with her position, I do admire her zeal. And just because you don't agree with someone that doesn't preclude you from learning something from her. This book will make you rethink some things about your own thought process and values, and for that I am grateful. After all, it is challenge that leads to growth.

Hetty is a well-developed character. Students who have failed at a task despite their best efforts can identify with Hetty. The realistic watercolor illustrations enhance the text and show the emotions that Hetty is feeling. This well-paced story gives an accurate depiction of life in the country. The onomatopoeia used in the story helps the reader to visualize the setting and Hetty's actions.

This was a very good book. This story shows a young girl who is given the responsibility of going to the store alone. When she makes a mistake she is afraid to go home. The story showed how the young girl corrected her mistake. It also showed loving parents who were understanding and supportive. This was a great family story. The girl learns about responsibility. The illustrations were done in watercolors and are beautiful.

The story of Oral Roberts is a great one. He was a great man of God and he has never had a public moral failure. Not everyone is happy with how he handles money...but he is honest and open with what he does.

His book shows in great detail what he went through in life and how God used him. That allows people to understand what humble beginnings many great men of God have. I recomend with no reservation.

This biography on the life and ministry of Oral Roberts is both compelling and inspiring. From his birth to present day, the book covers the evangelists most endearing moments as father and husband, as well as his role as the famous evangelist who touched millions of lives through his healing ministry. After overcoming poverty and a brush with death, Oral Roberts made a name for himself as a truly amazing figure in American history and one of the most popular and charasmatic religious figures of his time. With passion and integrity, "Expect a Miracle", is a book that inspires the soul and will win your heart.

"Son, I am going to heal you and you are to take my healing power to your generation. You are to build Me a University and build it on My authority and the Holy Spirit".

This was the Word of the Lord to Oral Roberts, a young man of seventeen, dying of Tuberculosis. Oral Robert's encounter with God saw the birth of a healing ministry, reaching thousands of people through Evangelistic Rallies , Radio, Television and the printed page.

As you read about this man's life, you'll be inspired, you'll rejoice, you'll weep. It's a life marked by faith, courage and tragedy.

Born in humble beginnings, God raised him to prominence through open doors and Divine appointments, including meetings with a number of U.S.Presidents. Despite this, Oral Robert's family suffered two fatalities with the death of his daughter and son-in-law in a plane crash and a son's suicide.

Throughout all this, you'll see that Oral Roberts is a man who has remained humble and with his integrity intact.

The book tells about the establishment of Oral Roberts University in 1965, and the merging of Prayer and Medicine with the opening of the Medical School in 1978.

Overall, this book is a testimony to what God can and will do with a life that is solely surrendered to Him.

An important historical church document...

The life and ministry of Oral Roberts is one of the most influencial and controversial of any minister of the 20th century. Although one might dismiss Oral Roberts, relegating him to the catagory of many other TV Evangelists who fell by the wayside in sins, hype, and irrelevance, it must be said of Oral Roberts that he, unlike the overwhelming majority of his time, finished the race. He stayed clean. He has left behind a legacy of power, innovation, and endless possibilities for the future of all of his spiritual children.

It was Oral Roberts that pioneered the use of TV as a means of evangelism. It was Oral Roberts that modernized the church's concept of its relationship to God as healer, provider, and, answerer of prayers based upon His Word. More than any other minister of the last century, Oral Roberts Evangelized the world with the truth most Christians rejected and denied completely: 3John:2 "Beloved I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth." I don't think we fully appreciate just how ground breaking this revelation was in the 50's and early 60's. His slogan "something good is going to happen to you" was lambasted by religious pharisees. Their contention was the thought was "too presumptuous" and was liable to "get the people's hopes up too high."

"Expect a Miracle" is a fair representation of Brother Roberts' life and ministry overall. However, I do wish he would have been more direct and addressed some of the more troubling aspects of his ministry. Although he lightly addressed the matter, I would have liked to have seen him flat out apologize and repent for the 8 million dollar fiasco in the 80's. I have no doubt that God may very well have told him his assignment on earth would end if he failed to upkeep his medical school, but Brother Roberts should have addressed the fact that his manner of appealing on TV saying, "won't you spare my life," to get his "partners" to give him 8 million dollars was extreme and is still an embarassment for his spiritual children. Subsequently, such incidents are a blemish on his legacy, and in many ways the body of Christ's, which I believe could have been repaired had he not avoided the issue in the years that have passed since then. This autobiography was a great opportunity to do just that, but he unfortunately passed.

Every spirit filled believer should consider this book required reading. Let history show. Oral Roberts is a rare gem in church history. He paved the way for modern Spirit-filled ministers like no other in his time. He truly was "God's man for this hour!"

God bless you, Brother Roberts! And thank you for the abundant spiritual inheritance you have left us!
