A GLIMPSE INTO THE LIVES OF IDENTICAL TRIPLETS
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 1998-02-09
Identical triplets are the subject of this interesting book. Told in first person by triplet Darren, the text gives young readers a feel for what it is like to be raised as an identical multiple. The first person narrative works well and kids will have fun identifying the boys in the color photos throughout. This thorough volume includes an "answer key" to identity in the photos, a glossary, resources for parents, and an explanation of the biology of multiples. Well done!

A delightfully entertaining picturebook

Review Date: 2004-09-13
Davy In The Middle is a delightfully entertaining and enthusiastically recommended picturebook about a young rabbit who is fed up with being the middle child. Too big to play hop-on-pop with his little siblings, too small to go hiking with his big brother, but always called upon to do middle-sized chores such as baby sitting, he decides enough is enough and runs to his hideout to sulk. But his family truly loves him, and engineers a surprise to show just how much. Davy In The Middle features whimsical color illustrations by Eve Tharlet and a sympathetic message by author Brigitte Weninger to counter all-too-common middle child blues.

Dad takes Alice B. and Baxter to see the ocean. It's so beautiful, they want to get in the water. They ask to go home so they can get their swimsuits.

"It'll only take half an hour," Alice B. says.

Dad drives them back to the house.

Alice B. and Baxter play and play and play. But wouldn't it be great if they had their goggles?

"It'll only take half an hour," Alice B. says.

Dad drives them back to the house to get their goggles.

And so the pattern continues as the pandas play and discover things they wish they had with them at the beach. After the many trips home, Dad finally comes up with a solution to give them everything they need while at the beach.

These pandas know how to have fun. Their excitement over the beach and the many things to do there is contagious.

Ed Briant has created a really unique children's book aimed at the baby-preschool reading level. With his paper sculpture illustrations, A Day at the Beach is a book both parents and children can appreciate. The book will quickly become a household favorite with its lovable characters, creative illustrations and enjoyable story line.

This book ,Deathgame, of the Hardy Boys casefiles,is the perfect example of how to write a mistery story, together with action, inteligence and ofcourse, feelings. The book gives articulate discriptions of places and events and has perfectly balanced details and entertainment. What I mean is,that many books give too detailed and articulate descriptions ,too detailed and articulate. They hurt the story's spirit. Joe Hardy's mental condition when he thinks that his brother is delicately handled so it doesn't get melodramatic and ridiculously poetic. This is a book, not to be missed ,but to be read and remembered.Dont miss it for the world. Cheerio, Shantanu Khandkar

Charlotte Zolotow's words and Garth Williams' dreamy ink and wash drawings evoke the poetic world of a little girl, as she imagines all the things she'll do for her baby brother, whom she adores. The simplicity and grace of this book makes it unique. They don't make 'em like this anymore

Tender story about compassion for animals and brotherly love
Helpful Votes: 7 out of 7 total.
Review Date: 2004-07-03
Readers used to David Lubar's signature humor will find something different in DOG DAYS. But different isn't bad. In this case, it's very good. Instead of his typical (well crafted) giggles, Lubar reaches for tenderness and depth of characterizations in this book about a baseball loving boy's quest to save and place helpless stray dogs -- and his little brother's unwavering desire to affectionately tag along. For those parents and educators searching for an uplifting, interesting "boy book" without a swear word in it, look no further. Lubar has answered your prayers. Outstanding option for reluctant readers or kids who just love baseball and dogs.

A Girl and Her Dog, And More
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2001-04-29
To paraphrase a famous saying, there is little love so pure as that between a girl and her dog. Oh, this book is about more than that. It's about Michelle's and Stephanie's friendship, some silly problems as the dog show approaches and how they solve those, about a boyfriend Stephanie thinks is so cool, but he's really got a dark secret. And, finally, about the fun of training a dog, a dog the reader almost gets into the mind of, it's written that well. I could just see my own there. Thsi is not just a really good Full House book. If you know someone with a great house dog, they will love this book.
