This book is a must-have for all parents of young children. I know it will become a family favorite in your family as it has in mine. It is one of the few picture books I have kept on my shelf (I'm 14 now)because of how special it is; I could never give it up. I don't think anyone would be able to say anything bad about this book. It has amazing illustrations. They are super cute, colorful, and life-like. The story is about a teddy bear who awakens to find that his trousers have been misplaced. He goes around all day asking his friends if they have seen them. They all say the same thing- they were using them (for some very unique purposes) but when they were finished with them they let someone else use them. Finaly Little Bear catches up with his pants and it's worth the wait. If you decide to purchase this book pick up a couple more of Jane Hissey's Old Bear stories, you won't be dissapionted in any of them.

Our (hard copy) of, Little Bear's Trousers, has been read dozens of times! The illustrations are extraordinary, and the creative uses Little Bear's friends make of his trousers are inventive and practical! The story has a joyful ending wherein all the friends can celebrate not only the return of Little Bear's trousers but some time together enjoying a bit of cake. The ONLY complaint I would make about this book (and which was actually pointed out to me by my six 1/2 year old daughter) is that of the nine characters, only two are female. We, however, have rectified this situation by granting them a new sexual status virtually everytime we read this book. Both of my kids (one boy, one girl) adore this book and have for years. Highly recommeded!

Great Straight Forward Information on Childhood Depression

As a parent if you see any of the lonely, sad or angry behaviors in your child this is a great book to add to the shelf. Reading it early on could help you help your child in getting through these rough and tough times of life. This is a book that I am going to pass around to teachers and relatives to read before bringing it back to my shelf as a reference. It is comprehensive as well as easy to read and understand about what the child and family are experiecing. Let it be an impressive key to help dispell the myths about childhood depression and get them the medical help, and family support they truly deserve. Our child has great frustrations due to learning difficulties so the self-esteem issue is always under fire. It is a daily battle to keep a child like this on the positive side of life.

MUST READ; practical, well-organized, invaluable

I've read it cover to cover, and will keep it on the shelf as a reference, and give one to the school, and buy a copy to loan out to friends. When you instinctively know something is wrong for your child, you face these huge questions: Is there something so wrong that he "needs professional help"? How do I explain what is wrong? Are they going to want to give him drugs? Are we doing something wrong at home? This book explains different types of depression and other mood disorders and also describes how various symptoms look in children, and even different at different ages. It explains different types of treatment options objectively so YOU can figure out where to start to understand and help your child. Unexpectedly, it has also explained some parts of my own childhood; didn't change anything for me now, just makes more sense. But MOST importantly, now I think I can help my son.

Miracle Milestones by Marilyn Gelfand proved to be an excellent opportunity to share the experience of having an autistic child from a parent's perspective. As a school psychologist, I work with families of preschool age children, some of whom carry the diagnosis of autism. This book helped resensitize me to some of the profound issues involved in raising and educating a disabled child. I feel that the insights gained will help me empathize with the families with whom I work.

This is a sensitively written account of one parent's journey to
understand and accept her child's special qualities and needs, focusing on
both the challenges and successes. The unique conversational narritive
and reflections of the authors provide a comprehensive and insightful
view of the emotions and experiences of a parent of an autistic child
and the efforts to understand and empathize with the recognition and
integration of all of the related issues. This book should be required
reading for any professional or student working or planning to work,
with disabled children and/or their parents to assist them in their
preparation, and to encourage new professionals to develop the empathy
and connection that is needed with this special population of children
and parents.

Dr. Ammons has revealed how God truly loves his child by sharing personal experiences from an earthly father's view with his own son. The view can also be correlated with a parent. The book will encourage and teach you in discovering the true nature of a loving, caring, unconditional, and respectful God. As you read, you experience the heartfelt joy, pain, remorse, and delight a parent experiences from caring for a little child. Dr. Ammons has brought into the realm of the book his own household as well as in the presence of an almighty God.

If you are a parent, you're sure to understand how children bring us abundent joy in their triumphs & the great sadness in their downfalls, but our love remains unconditional no matter the circumstance. This book reminds us that our Heavenly Father feels the same toward us! Filled with heartwarming illustrations and practical theology, this book is a "must-have" for anyone desiring to deepen their understanding of the love of God toward his children.

And, in case you're wondering, the title of the book comes from Job 42:5, "I have heard of you by the hearing of the ear; but now my eye sees you!"

This book not only was a great reminder of some aspects of my relationship with my Heavenly Father, but it also helped me see clearly some of the aspects that I had missed before. I, too, have young sons and while I thought a lot about my relationship with them while reading this book, my heart also hurt as I thought about how my sins and shortcomings hurt my Father. Likewise, my heart rejoiced to think about how God loves me even in the midst of that wrongdoing. A great read and one that will make you ponder your relationship with Christ!

I recently received a copy of this book from one of the authors. It is not only extraordinary in its focus and scope, but exceptional in that it addresses such issues at all. The challenges of parenting are well known, but undertaking them while experiencing depression is hardly ever discussed - despite the fact that depression is one of the most common health complaints in our nation. Learning to cope with the negative emotions, and still be the best parent you can, involves recognizing behaviors and developing skills - and this book shows you how. I highly recommend this to any parent who feels the burdens of their life are impinging on their ability to parent. If you think you might need help, this is a good place to start.

I found this book to be an excellent resource for my practice as a mental health attorney. This book is written in an easy to read format with helpful pointers for parents with depression and those who work with these parents and families. In addition to its useful hints, the book also lets parents with depression and other mental health issues realize that they are not alone. I highly recommend this book to parents, families, and mental health providers.

Bi-Polar But Not A Parent

I found this book to be extremly helpful and insightful. I am not a parent but do have a bi-polar mental illness.
The book has shown me a way to better manage my illness. Most of the chapters deal with subjects such as how to put together a self-care plan,a crisis plan (such as going into the hospital),how to make better use of finances as well as the importance of keeping a balanced life.
I believe very strongly that not only parents with a mental illness but parents without a mental illness and childless couples with or without an illness can also benefit from reading this book.
This is a must read book for anyone who wants to improve any area of their life.

I knew my wife had concerns about her role as a deacon's wife. I knew that her understanding and approval would be essential to my calling. I was pleased to find this book, though before reading it I wasn't sure if the content would "scare off" my wife. I read it before giving it to her. It helped me better understnd her concerns, since almost all wives have the same ones. I found out that wives had different ways of coping and that they were not called to be deaconesses. My wife felt more informed and at ease after reading this book. She read it in one sitting! She is now sharing it with other wives of Inquirers in my Discernment group.

This book is a powerhouse of knowledge, I have been in a abusive relationship for 10 years. Thanks to this book, I was able to break free. I was so lost, alone, and contemplating suicide. I thought there was no way out, then I came across this book. I read the book again and again, and I knew I was not alone,it gave me such hope. Alexis thank you so much, I felt your book reached out a hand to me and showed me the way home. He dosen't hurt me anymore, he cannot, NOT ANYMORE!

It is amazing that it has been four years sinceI bought this book while in a brutally abusive relationship. It gave me the courage and strength to end the madness. During a long and painful court trial, it gave me continued hope and support. Out of the pile of books and pamphlets I own on domestic violence, this is the only one I continue read and take notes on. It will forever be on my nightstand to remind me that I have a choice. I sincerly thank Alexis Asher for writing this lifesaving masterpiece.

This book absolutely saved my life. I don't really like the title because it sounds a little corny and very "victimy", but the contents are wonderful. It helps you identify if you are abused and how (any why) to get out. I liked the viewpoint of the book because the author had obviously been down the path and I felt like a loving friend took me by the hand and helped me to take steps that I wasn't ready to take by myself. I bought the book 4 months before I left my husband and now I have been free for 6 weeks. I read it over and over again and gained the courage and strength within me to leave. I have lots of books on abuse, but this book is the Bible for the woman who needs a step by step guide to get out. Hopefully it will be back in print soon!

When I first began writing plays for senior theaters and audiences, I would have killed for the information in Bonnie Vorenberg's "Senior Theatre Connections." Now that this directory exists, I don't know how I survived without it. Senior theater names, addresses, descriptions - they're all there (including international groups). This slick publication is a must for anyone interested in the growing senior theater movement and an inspiration for those thinking about starting their own senior company.

I can't recommend it too highly!

Senior Theatre Connections: The first directory of senior theatre performing groups, professionals and resources is my find of the year! As someone interested in working with seniors in a creative and active fashion, this directory offerred not only excellent and hard to find resources, but triggered ideas for future ways to empower seniors and advocate for their continued artistic contributions as well as their active role in the arts community. I am also giving this directory to both a former professor from college and a former actor-friend of mine for Christmas this year. Thanks to the author, there is a wealth of information in here. God tells parents to "Train up" your child...not be their best friend. Ultimately, if you do what He says your children grow up to be better than just a friend. They honor you by being strong, caring individuals that you can count on! The principles in this book are God's demands of parents. It's a tough ongoing job & it's the best you can have if you are willing to work hard! There will always be people who abuse their authority but by doing away with authority we have more abuse...extreme abuse than ever in history! Young parents use this tool...it's the same that was just taught to us by our parents...and you may be as Blessed as my Husband & I are to have 2 "well rounded" happy, reponsible, sucessful ....the list could go on & on....Adult children & 5 beautiful and really ENJOYABLE to be with grandkids!

This book has been recommended to me by many people for several years. Now that I have finally read it, I will be recommending it to any parent who wants to raise their children in a Biblical, God-centered way. Tripp is straight forward, honest, and convicting in his assessment of common mistakes we all make with our children, and offers alternatives based on scripture. It encourages one to really think about what we are training our children by how we are training them. It would be a really good book study for a small group, but it also very helpful for an individual to read.

This is a really smart book even for an educator of thirty plus years such as myself. The tools section is an invaluable guide for individuals who are navigating the special needs arena for the first time. I found the education law section to be a welcomed update on special education law and very useful to both parents and practitioners alike. I am keeping my copy on my desk in my office as a desk reference. I just ordered seven copies for my administrative team and will be recommending this book to fellow educators. This is an important hands on approach to the often-messy world of special education advocacy and a book that is long overdue. Thank you Rich and Michelle this is quality work.
