Two different titles for the SAME book published within in 4 months?!!!

BUYER BEWARE: I purchased this book and Adoption: Your Step-by-Step Guide (also by Mardie Caldwell) and to my surprise THEY WERE ACTUALLY THE SAME BOOK, PUBLISHED LESS THAN FOUR MONTHS APART UNDER DIFFERENT TITLES! Nowhere did it say that one was a minimally updated version of the other.

While the information that these books contain is very good, I find it a very shady practice indeed to publish two books in this manner less than 4 months apart without informing potential buyers of the duplication. It has left me very wary of the author and the publisher. In fact, I would guess the US ISBN Agency would be interested in knowing these books are the same...

If not for this book, I wouldn't know where to begin.

If not for this book, I wouldn't know where to begin. If not for Mardie Caldwell's efforts and talent, her caring heart and experience, I'd be swimming in the vast, endless sea of the Internet floundering around, stumbling upon wonderful websites, but lacking direction and guidance. Thank God for this book. It is a roadmap, clearly explaining everything from how to use a computer and the Internet, to pointing you towards adoption websites and resources. I'd never know most of these websites existed if not for Mardie's book. Her work is a blessing, and am indebted to her for pouring much of her time and heart into this book.

Whatever your circumstances: the pains of infertility, wanting to adopt to add to your current family, or wanting to adopt because you're like me- you just know it's the right thing for you and the child you eventually end up with, I strongly recommend the book Adopting Online.com by Mardie Caldwell. I've looked in bookstores, on the Internet- and have never found such a concise, easy to understand adoption book that breaks down the process and guides you, step by step, through the entire adoption process and then some.

If I could personally thank Mardie Caldwell for writing this book, I'd do it. The next best thing is posting a book review in the hopes that she'll see it, and others will discover, as I have, this amazing adoption resource book.

Untapped Options ý An Executive Summary of Executive Summari

Enthralled by the thought of learning secrets to create a unique working relationship between human resources and marketing, I bought the book. However, I was disappointed early on. It was a continuing snip-it of others' work with little true insight into bridging the gulf between marketing and human resources. The authors attempted to show areas of overlap and differences and in my opinion could have spent much of the book showing how to work toward alignment between the two departments. Rather, it showed how HR must market the hospital to employees, both new and old and how marketing must use surveys to assist administration in identify patient satisfaction issues. Nothing new, especially if we appreciate and recognize the continual efforts of patient and non-patient care staff to provide excellence in healthcare - inside and outside of the four walls we call a hospital. "Raving Fans" is much better. VP - HR, Salina, KS.

Building Links between Marketing and Human Resources to Achieve Organizational Goals in Health Care.

"Talk about getting out of the box, this book blows the entire lid right off! If you want to position your organization to succeed in a tight labor market, this is definitely the way to go. In these days of low unemployment, your organization's future may depend on utilizing this creative approach to management." -- Sheila Ridner, BSN and MSHSA, CEO, First Hospital Corporation, Nashville, TN

Cost containment, increased productivity, and customer satisfaction have become watchwords for many health care organizations. Untapped Options offers a unique and innovative management model that addresses all three by aligning employee recruitment, training, and retention (Human Resources) with attracting patients and retaining them (Marketing). By allowing the mission, vision, and values of the company to synchronize the strategies of both departments, remarkable synergies are created that provide benefits for the entire firm. Properly implemented using the guidelines in this book, this fresh approach can result in improved performance, higher employee satisfaction, increased patient satisfaction and greater financial security for the organization.

The Bells of Christmas had some parts that were interesting. I would have liked to learn more about the father's handicap. However, it seemed like most of the book passed with Jason sitting by the National Road. Learning about the Road seemed to evoke the most interest from my fifth-grade class. One year of that was enough.

This book was truly a God-send! It was so easy to read and understand and can be finished in one quick sitting. But don't let the size of this book fool you. It gave me a new way to view my child's (and husband's) ADD, from both the physical and the spiritual sides. This book was encouraging and made me re-think all I had previously read about the subject of ADD. This is a "must-read" for those wanting help and biblical wisdom in dealing with those you love who fit the description of ADD. Author Ed Welch and "Resources for Changing Lives" are at the top of my reading list!

Have you walked in my shoes?

I did not appreciate some of the statements made in this booklet. I do not believe that Mr Welch has any basis to substantiate his claim that ADD is not a physical problem. I believe he makes blanket statements that offend a family who is really struggling to make sense of ADD and how it effects their family.
No amount of "spirituality" will help a child with asthma will it? Yet there are no blood tests or x-rays to diagnose this. Does Mr. Welch actually know for certain that there is no medical tests to diagnose this problem? I have read material to suggest that an MRI does diagnose.
I thought this booklet to be stated in an offensive way. Does Mr. Welch have a child of his own that struggles and cries and tries his absolute hardest to remember and obey? I do! Until Mr. Welch can tell me that he walks in my shoes and knows for certain that ADD is just a spiritual problem, his words do nothing but offend.

I bought this book on the recommendation of the well-trained mind for PreK/K. I was disappointed, even though I had looked at the table of contents before I bought it. I had forgotten to look at a sample of the actual lessons. I was hoping for a lot more active activities for the senses that would be PreK oriented and easy for a homeschooling mom. This book isn't that. Slow and Steady Get Me Ready really covers all the things this book does--in a much easier way for me to do with my kids.

I am a child of a single parent home, and I am a single parent, I'm also amazingly enough a Youth Development Counselor, and I'll tell you!!!!!!! No words can explain how this books puts into perspective what life is like being a single parent. From children, to divorce, and even to a single parents health. Dealing with Crisis situations and recognizing signs of depression and hopelessness are all in this book. I can guarantee you, that by the time you read the second chapter, you will find some of yourself in this book.

This is not an ordinary Passover book. It's not Orthodox, Conservative, Reform, Reconstructionist, Aquarian, or any other known stream of Judaism. If you buy it, you'll be horrified to learn that it's actually based on evangelical Christianity, and is published by the proselytizing "Messianic" sect also known as "Jews for Jesus" and similar nonsense. The publisher is a huge disseminator of material used to dupe unknowing Jews into violating the tenets of their religion and accept Jesus as their Messiah. Don't believe me? The same publisher also puts out "You Bring the Bagels, I'll Bring the Gospel: Sharing the Messiah with Your Jewish Neighbor" and similar books used for proselytizing. Also, please note that "one star" is the minimum rating on Amazon, so don't think, 'Oh, he gave it one star, must be something worthwhile.'

I do not own this book but I attend the University where the Professors who wrote the book teach Early Childhood Education college students and even preschool students in the college preschool. I attended a seminar where both of the authors presented their book. This is a book designed to provide ideas for the use of Sand and Water tables. This is probably not something the average mom would own, but something that Preschools, and Kindergarten through 1st grade teachers should own. It gives ideas for stimulating creative thinking, imagination, learning, and language skills through the use of Sand and Water Tables. The book does include other ideas for preschool children also. Just because the other reviewer didn't realize it was for Sand and Water tables doesn't make it any less effective for what the authors wrote it for. I have looked at this book and plan to purchase it myself as soon as I either start teaching first grade or have children of my own. I do recommend it and the authors other book "Literacy Play."

Everything but sand and water play!

I am very disappointed with this book, as I expected many ideas FOR sand and water play, not examples of activities you can do WITH a sand and water table (or perhaps even more irritating--WITHOUT a sand and water table). I own the Step2 sand and water table and love it. I was looking specifically for creative sand and water activities to do with the table and also with our 8x10 sandbox and the swimming pool in the summer months. Many of the ideas (bubble art, playing with shaving cream, playing with balls and paint, fingerpainting) are so elementary that it was especially surprising to find them in a book specifically about sand and water play. Other ideas, like making homemade silly putty, playdough, bubbles, and paints really seem like page fillers for this book and, again, I resent that I paid good money for a SAND AND WATER book and got the same old ideas that are in many of the basic preschool activity books. Honestly, you would be better off buying Kid Concoctions if you don't already own it.

Alas, even the ideas that did involve sand and/or water were so elementary that no one would need a book to think of them. "Backyard Beach Party," for example, has the following instructions:

1. Set up two sand and water tables outside. In one of the sand and water tables, add sand and seashells. In the other, add water, sea animals, and boats.
2. Set up a beach umbrella and beach towels nearby.
3. Give the children beach balls and encourage them to have a beach party.

Then, there is the "Sand Castles, Canals, and Tunnels" idea:

1. Bring the sand and water table outside.
2. Fill it with sand, water, and other materials and encourage the children to create sand castles.

WOW! Sand castles!!! Thank goodness I bought this book or I never would have thought of that!

Seriously, I'd keep looking.

Who moved my Attitude? Chapman!! As an avid reader of books geared towards helping me cope with my personal and professional development, I know a GREAT book when I find it. Getting ahead in your career, goal-setting, working with difficult people, and teams & diversity, are just a few of subjects covered in this book. Before reading this book I wasn't really familar with the many aspects of "human relations". Now I know that "human relations" encompasses every aspect of my life and how to balance all the things that I need to. I highly recommend this book for anyone who needs to have a more pleasant and productive career/work environment, seeking to move up the corporate ladder, and for those who wish to learn the skills needed to balance work and home.
