Bassman has written a book unlike others I've read on fibromyalgia & chronic fatigue syndrome. Her book is extremely well researched & offers many different options for treatment, both conventional & holistic. In addition to treating physical symptoms, she provides guidance for dealing with emotional, psychological & spiritual aspects of these syndromes. There is a wealth of good scientific information in this book, written in a user-friendly style.

As a health-care professional, I began having significant health problems
and followed a traditional medical course of treatment. After about a
year, I was getting sicker and sicker despite my doctor's reassurances
that the multiple medications I was taking were working. I stopped seeing
my doctor and tried several alternative therapies that eventually led me
to becoming healthy again. As I read Dr. Bassman's book, I wish it had
been available to me when I was doing my search. It has a wealth of
information written in plain language that is extremely important in our
society which emphasizes disease instead of the wellness model that Dr.
Bassman presents.

For a friend

I bought this book for a good friend of mine who is single. She had been looking in all the right places, but had trouble meeting Mister Right. She said she knew what she wanted in a guy, but she never really could verbalize her list. This book helped her create a real list of qualities she wanted in a man and I can't believe it, she is actually going out on high quality dates. I would imagine at this pace, she'll find Mister Right before long.

This Really Works!

I followed the plan in this book and voila! The best and most aptly suited man that I have ever dated "showed up".
I can't YET call him a life partner because it is really too early in the relationship, but this is really different. I feel an extraordinary compatibility - this feels healthy and right-finally!
It's pretty amazing to meet someone and re-visit the list and then figure your own thumbs up or thumbs down based on it.The list puts it right there in black and white so it eliminates "fooling" yourself.
Making the list and qualifying it makes a huge difference!
The author has an easy to follow style, injects plenty of fun and levity throughout, and utilizes interesting research. I recommend this for all singles!

This book has excellent insight into online dating and is told in a fresh, tongue in cheek manner that never grates on your nerves. I highly recommend this one if you are just getting started online, or if you are having problems with it. I also liked and would also recommend Dating Sense: The Practical Way to Meet, Date and Marry the Right Person.

I borrowed the second edition from the local library and have decided to buy the third edition. While the reviews of software and how to set up a website can become a little dated, you only need get one or two good ideas out of a book like this to make it more than worth the cost.

As someone who works in religious education with children and parents (sometimes dealing with people of differing faiths, sometimes people new to our faith), this book has been an invaluable tool. My pages are dog-eared and now full of post-it notes. Gently Lead is a perfect book to help parents and teachers view everyday experiences as faith-filled moments. The entries are short and compelling. My favorite, "Fetching and Chopping" and its sequel "And Raking" has helped many parents and children in my experience to learn to transform ordinary work into Godly tasks. This book is perfect for use in preparing workshops, retreats, enrichment sessions for teachers and experiences for children. It is one of the top five books I use in my work as a religious education director. I have bought several copies to lend to my teachers and parents.

Excellent resource for parents!

"Getting the Lead Out" is an invaluable resource for parents with children who suffer from lead poisoning. It discusses sources of lead exposure, methods for preventing lead poisoning, and evaluation and treatment of lead poisoning. Critically, the book also provides parents with advice on how to cope with lead poisoning and how to protect their families. The text is clear, thorough, and not overly technical.

I work in the area of lead toxicity and found this book to be highly accurate and informative. I would recommend this book wholeheartedly to any friend or colleague who has a loved one with lead poisoning or who wants to learn more about the subject.

Would have liked to have had more stories from these obviously very experienced two authors of their personal experiences with kids, but this is a serious reference work written to address a need with information that has probably never been brought together in one place before -- virtually every modality, traditional and alternative, cross-referenced to practically every problem a young person and his/her parents might encounter in the growing up years. Such a wealth of information makes this a tool that you just want to have around for when things come up.

It is also very well organized and easy to use.

Dr. Spock would welcome this Guide!

Found this to be a very thorough Resource Book/Guide. Put together for us Parents as well as Professional practitioners. Very easy to get the information that's needed. Huge help with difficult issues from multiple perspectives and professions. Guides with clarity while exposing us to, and informing us about, a wide array of healing practices to heal our young people's problems. Great research, scope, including expected costs, and ease of use make this a guide that most every family/doctor/educator/counselor etc. etc. would likely benefit from.

Face-to-Face Is Not Enough

Between 7:00pm and 1:00am is a good time to get answers to a health care system moving from the traditional office face-to-facing with doctors to self-managed lay medicine online. A good way to surf these Internet health and medical resources is by signing up with a computer network, such as America Online, CompuServe, Delphi, eWorld, Genie, Microsoft Windows 95, Prodigy, The Well, or Women's Wire. Self-helpers can then access such biomedical databases as the HealthNet Reference Library, Information USA/health, and Medline; Internet mailing lists, such as HMATRIX-L's popular and professional resources for laypeople and professionals; the Medical Support Bulletin Board; the Medical Matrix gopher site; the MedWeb free medical library; and USENET newsgroups. Such directories and search engines as InternetSleuth, the Multimedia Medical Reference Library, and the Whole Internet Catalog of Health can find relevant web sites ranging from Good Medicine alternative and mainstream medical practices, to Internet Vet, PharmInfoNet, Traveler's Choice worldwide health conditions, and Yahoo/health.

Or a health information broker---such as The Health Resource Inc., Med Help International, and Plane Tree Health Resource Center---could be hired to do all the footwork. Or a non-digital start would be to call the Self-Help Clearinghouse and to read THE SELF-HELP SOURCEBOOK. This self-help focus by author and physician Tom Ferguson works well with John M. Grohol's THE INSIDER'S GUIDE TO MENTAL HEALTH RESOURCES ONLINE. Readers trying to pool as much Internet health and medical information as possible could also look to Bruce Maxwell's HOW TO FIND HEALTH INFORMATION ON THE INTERNET and MOSBY'S MEDICAL SURFARI.

The book I read was Holding Me Here. I really liked the book because it talked about real life issues. The book was mainly about Robbin who her parents got divorce. She suffer a lot and as a bonus her mom needs a room mate because she has economic problems. Then the room mate is so misterious and her name is Maria. The best part starts when robbin reads Marias Diary and she finds some dark secrets. Well I am not going to tell you anymore read the book and find out whats next.

An Excellent Bible for Church Leaders!
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2007-12-14
I am very pleased with the NIV Minister's Bible by Hendrickson. A pastor or a church leader who uses NIV (other versions also available) will be delighted by it. It is indeed a handy volume to carry when you minister to His people in need.
1. The quality of the binding is excellent. Unlike many Bibles in its price range, which is glued to the spine, this Bible is Smith Sewn (pages are stitched) - therefore, very sturdy and will not fall off. Also the Bible is made in Korea -- Korea is well-known for their quality Bible making.
2. Print quality is also excellent. It is clear and sharp. It is large enough to be easy on your eyes. Yet, the Bible is thin and light.
3. This genuine leather is soft and flexible. This is not a bonded-leather (90% leather fragments and 10% latex), which wears down very easily. This is real good leather.
4. There is a section at the back of the Bible that has "Ministry Resource Guide" for every occasion -- such as: funerals, weddings, hospital visits, baptisms, infant dedications, confirmations, graduations, moving to a new home, and Christian life, etc... A very helpful tool for every pastor or a lay leader in the church. So you do not need to carry separate "Minister's Manual"
5. However, at least for my Bible, it has only one ribbon marker and not two as it has been advertised. Maybe, mine is just an exception.

Anyway, I love this Bible for its overall quality and usefulness.

This is a very nice Bible. The binding is genuine leather, not bonded leather, so it won't crack and deteriorate like bonded leather does. The Bible has a lovely gilt edge. The only missing feature that I would have liked is to have Jesus' words in red.
