This book is amazing! Although the focus is mainly on conducting Intelligence Interviews, it offers a plethora of strategies
to use both in the classroom and at home. The book encourages you to determine each students' intelligence profile and then
to implement learning strategies that will complement the way they learn. It is highly organized and very easy to follow.

This a great textbook and I stress the word great. The textbook offers guidence in defining terms, working with families,
and facilitating futures for individuals who have been diagnosed with moderate to severe disabilities. Teachers and future
teachers of the special education field will find everthing they need to know. The information presented is clear and understandable
which is a relief, compared to various other textbooks.

This sequel to "I Can Learn" is more of Goodman's hands on practical learning that is not only good for those "Gray-Area"
children ,who don't qualify for special education due to their 70-90 range IQs, it is full of great tools to use with ALL
children. I recommend it to any educator, regular or special ed., who longs to keep kids engaged and making progress.

Not just a how-to book, but a wide-ranging and highly functional resource containing vast amounts of detailed information
about program planning, assessment, and treatment. Its real strength lies in the fact that the practical suggestions for
treatment are accompanied by strong theory and process-oriented examples for applying strategies and techniques.
If you are a music therapist or special education professional, we think you will find these clearly defined guidelines, case samples, and step-by-step instructions will enable you to bring about dramatic improvements in both adults and children with Autistic Spectrum Disorders.

This book was our miracle

This book uses a phonics approach, but in a way that is easier for children to grasp. My son was in 6th grade and all the
reading specialists in the district couldn't teach him to even read a 1st grade EZ reader. I went to the library and just
by chance picked this book out. After I began using it, he was starting to read within a few days, and by the end of the
month, was reading short stories! He now tests at high school level. I know it sounds too good to be true - but it really
happened that way. The teachers were confounded- no other word for it. Basically, Ms. Stevenson starts with long vowels
instead of short, uses no pictures (which distract), starts from the middle of words instead of the beginning, and many other
different techniques that children with difficulties just naturally tap into. They learn to decode. This book has all the
actual lessons in it, over a hundred of them and is very simple to use. You just do a lesson a day with some review. It works
just as well with children without reading difficulties - my second son used this for reading also. I wish this book was
still in print and had better visibility, because I am sure it is the answer for many others.

Robert Perske convincingly demonstrates that persons with retardation and other disabilities are capable of functioning in
the mainstream of community life. He specifically approaches the issue of those persons moving into otherwise "average" neighborhoods.
With insight and compassion, he shows how their presence in the neighborhoods can be a uniquely positive experience.

The information and approach are straight forward, easy to understand and most of all, easy to implement. They don't just give you a way to "solve a problem", they teach you the core theories, which then enable the family and school to customize their approach.
I have purchased many "ADD" books, and this one far surpasses in quality and presentation. The second runner up (and has more worksheet templates inside) is "Add/Adhd Behavior-Change Resource Kit : Ready-To-Use Strategies & Activities for Helping Children With Attention Deficit Disorder".
If you purchase this book, I STRONGLY recommend that you also purchase the accompanying workbook, The AD/HD forms book: Identification, measurement, and intervention. [Contains 30 forms and checklists for children and adolescents with ADD/ADHD] ...
